Winners to represent the New England region at the National Youth Entrepreneurship Showcase in New York City this November

New York, NY (June 30, 2026) – The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) today announced the top student venture from its New England Youth Entrepreneurship Showcase, advancing to the U.S. National Youth Entrepreneurship Showcase on Nov. 18, 2026, at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City.

Selected from a highly competitive pool of student-led businesses, this winner distinguished herself through innovative thinking and persuasive pitch delivery—hallmarks of NFTE’s experiential entrepreneurship model.

The student advancing to the national competition is:

- Isla Hughes from Ipswich High School in Ipswich, Massachusetts, with her business idea Nova Guide, an adaptive AI study co-pilot for students with executive function challenges.

The New England representative will compete alongside top student entrepreneurs from across the country, for the chance to advance to the World Youth Entrepreneurship Showcase on Nov. 19, 2026, and take the international stage at 787 Seventh Avenue in New York City.

“The New England Showcase reflects the ingenuity and drive we see in classrooms across the region,” said Jennifer Green, NFTE New England’s Sr. Manager, Programs. “These students are developing the adaptability, confidence and problem-solving skills that will serve them for a lifetime. We are incredibly proud to see them carry the New England region forward to New York this fall.”

In addition, NFTE New England recognized key contributors who strengthened the program’s reach and impact. Ernst & Young LLP (EY US) was named Corporate Volunteer of the Year, Mark Andrade received Individual Volunteer of the Year honors, and Jodie Woodruff from The MET School was named New England Teacher of the Year.

The showcase featured student pitches evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges, including Michael Azzollini, Partner at EY US; Victoria-Leigh Parisi, NFTE alumna and Digital Product Lead at Mass General Brigham Health Plan; and Angel Burgado, VP, Community Partnership Manager at Santander. Their insights and feedback will play a critical role in helping students refine their business strategies and presentation skills.

NFTE extends its sincere appreciation to The Boston Foundation for hosting this year’s event, and to presenting sponsors EY US, the G-Unity Foundation, PayPal, Santander and Zuora, with additional support from Britebound. Their partnership ensures that more young people across New England gain access to high-quality entrepreneurship education and opportunities to bring their ideas to life.

NFTE and BUILD Announce Merger to Drive Systemic Change in Education

Combination creates one of the largest entrepreneurship education organizations, pioneering a new model for nonprofit growth and collective impact.

New York, NY and San Francisco, CA, July 21, 2026 – The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) and BUILD.org today announced plans to merge, pending regulatory approval, creating an organization that will serve more than 350,000 students annually. BUILD will become the first organization in NFTE’s family of brands, a longer-term vision to strengthen entrepreneurship education through collaboration and collective action. By unifying, they are making a bold investment in the future of learning by preparing young people, particularly those in under-resourced communities, to thrive in a world where AI and other emerging technologies are transforming how we learn, work, and create opportunity.

As industries, careers, and pathways to opportunity continue to evolve, the entrepreneurial mindset, including skills such as creativity, collaboration, adaptability, problem-solving, and opportunity recognition, becomes increasingly valuable. NFTE and BUILD have spent a combined 67 years helping young people develop these uniquely human capabilities through entrepreneurship education. Now they are uniting to expand that impact at scale and help more students harness technology as a tool for innovation, learning, and economic opportunity.

“By bringing together NFTE and BUILD, we are creating the foundation of a family of brands that can accelerate innovation and deepen impact across entrepreneurship education,” said Dr. J.D. LaRock, President and CEO of NFTE. “Together, we can reach more students, deliver more transformative experiences, and combine NFTE’s entrepreneurial mindset with BUILD’s Spark Skills through the project-based learning experiences that are central to both organizations, helping young people develop the creativity, resilience, and leadership skills they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.”

“For years, both of our organizations have understood that preparing young people for the future requires more than great programs; it requires systemic change,” said Thais Rezende, President and Interim CEO of BUILD. “Together with NFTE, we have the collective reach and capacity to pursue the broader change both organizations have long envisioned, moving entrepreneurship education from an optional elective toward a core part of how young people are prepared for their futures.”

A New Model for Nonprofit Growth

The merger reflects a broader shift in how mission-driven organizations can scale. Rather than growing through traditional expansion alone, NFTE and BUILD are pioneering a new model for impact in the entrepreneurship education nonprofit sector. They are preserving what makes each organization unique while unlocking greater reach and efficiency. With a projected annual operating budget of approximately $18 million, the combined organization unites NFTE’s national and global reach, educator training, and research capabilities with BUILD’s relationship-centered, experiential learning model.

“The nonprofit sector is entering a period of transformation,” said Patty Alper, President of the Teach to Work Foundation and Co-Chair of the NFTE Board of Directors. “Organizations are increasingly being challenged to think beyond traditional structures and find new ways to create impact at scale. This partnership demonstrates how mission-aligned organizations can come together to build something larger than any one organization could achieve on its own.”

“Education is at an inflection point,” said Anthony Salcito, General Manager, Enterprise at Coursera, Inc. and Co-Chair of the NFTE Board of Directors. “Young people are preparing for a future that will require continuous learning, adaptability, and the ability to create opportunity in changing environments. Education must do more than prepare students for a first job; it must equip them to think critically, solve problems, collaborate with others, and shape their own paths. Bringing our organizations together gives us a greater ability to help make that shift at scale.”

Connecting New York and Silicon Valley

The merger brings together two organizations built in two of the country’s most influential economic centers. NFTE, founded in New York City, the world’s biggest financial capital, and BUILD, founded in Silicon Valley, the global epicenter of innovation, have spent decades helping young people develop the entrepreneurial mindset needed to navigate change and create opportunity. By combining, they are connecting the nation’s financial and innovation anchors to help shape the future of education.

“BUILD was founded on a simple but powerful idea: when young people are given the opportunity to create, lead, and solve real-world problems, they develop skills and confidence that last a lifetime,” said Suzanne McKechnie Klahr, Founder of BUILD. “Joining NFTE’s family of brands brings together BUILD’s project-based, experiential approach with NFTE’s global reach. What began in Silicon Valley and New York City can now come together to help shape how young people around the world learn to create, lead, and own their futures.”

“Bringing together an organization born in Silicon Valley with one founded in New York connects two of the world’s most influential centers of innovation and finance around a shared goal: ensuring that young people, particularly those too often left out of these networks of opportunity, have the skills, relationships, and confidence to help shape and participate in the future economy,” said David Peinsipp, Partner and Co-chair of the global capital markets group at Cooley, a global law firm, and Chair of the BUILD Board of Directors.

The First Chapter of NFTE’s Family of Brands

This merger marks the first chapter in NFTE’s larger vision to bring together mission-aligned organizations, expand access to entrepreneurial learning, and build a stronger national and global ecosystem dedicated to helping young people own their futures.

August 2026 NFTE Nexus Policy Brief: Entrepreneurship Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
Image File
Original HTML

NFTE’s latest NEXUS policy brief is “Entrepreneurship Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: How AI Literacy, Entrepreneurial Learning, and Human Skills Can Prepare Students for the Future of Work.”

As generative AI rapidly reshapes education and the workforce, the question for schools is increasingly shifting from whether students will use AI to how we prepare them to use it thoughtfully, critically, and creatively. The brief makes the case that technical AI literacy alone is not enough—young people also need the critical thinking, creativity, communication, adaptability, and entrepreneurial skills to effectively work alongside AI.

Drawing on NFTE’s Next Level Startup: Make AI Your Cofounder program and our partnership with Campus Without Walls, the brief highlights what this can look like in practice: students using AI to develop and test real-world ideas while learning to evaluate AI-generated information, exercise judgment, and strengthen their own problem-solving.

The brief also offers three recommendations for policymakers and education leaders:

- Develop comprehensive AI literacy frameworks that include human and entrepreneurial skills

- Expand experiential and entrepreneurial approaches to AI learning

- Invest in teacher training and professional development so educators can effectively integrate AI into instruction

We hope the brief contributes to the growing conversation about what meaningful AI readiness should look like for young people—and how we can prepare students not simply to use AI, but to lead, innovate, and thrive in an AI-enabled economy.

Owning the Future: A Letter From NFTE’s President & CEO
Image File
Original HTML

To the NFTE and BUILD communities:

As the new school year is underway, our two organizations are becoming one. Our purpose in that work is unchanged, and it is ambitious: that every young person will learn how to start a business.

We enter the new year holding advantages few organizations in our field can claim:

- We will reach more than 350,000 students a year, in schools, communities, out-of-school programs, and online.

- Our educator training and research capabilities are among the strongest in the field.

- Our commitment to a young person runs for years, not a single semester.

- Most powerfully—most distinctively—we now stand in New York and Silicon Valley: the world’s largest financial capital and the global center of innovation, joined around one purpose. Nothing like that combination exists in our field.

Nearly forty years ago, when entrepreneurship was treated as a subject for graduate business schools rather than for teenagers, NFTE began teaching it in New York City classrooms. Twelve years later, BUILD began doing the same in East Palo Alto. Between us, we have spent 67 years naming and teaching capabilities like creativity, collaboration, adaptability, problem-solving, opportunity recognition, long before the labor market made their value obvious.

But we cannot rest on our laurels. AI is advancing faster than any technology in our lifetimes. It is no longer merely a tool; it is an entity inorganic, agentic, and autonomous entity, and it is transforming how young people learn, work, and create opportunity. Knowledge itself is becoming a commodity. And the entrepreneurial mindset must be built to prepare the next generation to thrive.

AI is the context. Young people are the subject. We must keep them at the center of our endeavor.

This spring and summer, NFTE regional showcases and BUILDFests put that conviction on display. In St. Louis and Chicago, in Los Angeles and the Bay Area, in Pittsburgh and Baltimore and the Bronx and Boston, students pitched ventures to panels of judges. NFTE winners earned their place at the U.S. National Youth Entrepreneurship Showcase in New York on November 18, where the top team will advance to compete against students from more than twenty countries on November 19.

Look at what they built. Malik Oladokun’s Helply, an AI platform connecting young people to community service. Team RebBudget, a financial planning app that helps customers save for big ticket items while managing every day expenses. Isla Hughes’s Nova Guide, an adaptive AI study co-pilot for students with executive function challenges. Brandon Garcia’s ProspectPath, giving overlooked athletes the structure and exposure to compete for college scholarships.

These young entrepreneurs are marshaling AI against the problems of their own communities at a speed no previous generation could have imagined. They are our vanguard, and they are emblems of the entrepreneurial mindset we intend every student we serve to carry.

The hardest problems of this era live in the gap between what school teaches and what the world asks. So our real work is to build the infrastructure of an entrepreneurial mind—NFTE’s entrepreneurial mindset joined to BUILD’s Spark Skills of communication, collaboration, problem solving, innovation, grit, and self-management—so that a young person can cross that gap and act wisely where no answer is given in advance. We will build it in every classroom we reach, in every community we serve, and beyond.

This work will not unfold in easy conditions. Public education budgets are under pressure, philanthropic support is contested, and organizations serving young people are consolidating or closing. We will not navigate that by waiting to see what others do. We will guide our innovations along a clear vector: they must serve young people, and they must serve the communities they come from.

That is the standard our family of brands will meet. BUILD is its first chapter, and the aim is systemic: to move entrepreneurship education from an optional elective toward a core part of how young people are prepared for their futures.

Neither of our organizations has ever accepted the boundaries our sector handed us. In 1987, we taught business ownership to young people the business world had written off. In 1999, BUILD began with four high school students who wanted to start a business and were at risk of leaving school, and with a mentor who bet that entrepreneurship would keep them there. This year, in a field that rewards institutions for competing, we chose to combine instead.

We will do it again, on our own terms.

In the age of autonomous machines, the organizations that keep young people at the center will define what comes next.

That organization will be ours.

BENGALURU, India – Hilton (NYSE: HLT) today announced the opening of The Den Bengaluru, LXR Hotels & Resorts, marking the debut of the award-winning luxury brand in India. Owned by Dan Hospitality India Pvt. Ltd. and managed by Hilton, The Den Bengaluru brings LXR Hotels & Resorts’ tailored approach to luxury to Whitefield, where heritage meets innovation, creative expression intersects with a global business hub, and vibrant urban energy coexists with a more relaxed rhythm.

The 226-room hotel opens its doors as an LXR Hotels & Resorts and embraces the brand’s DNA with the launch of two signature programmes that bring its philosophy of personal discovery and sense of place to life. The Pause Program translates The Den’s Pause in the Pulse philosophy into thoughtful rituals woven throughout the guest journey, creating moments to slow down, reset and recharge. Whitefield Unscripted, inspired by LXR Hotels & Resorts’ Pursuit of Adventure, takes guests beyond the hotel to discover or rediscover the people, places and stories that give Whitefield its distinctive character.

Zubin Saxena, senior vice president and regional head, South Asia, Hilton, said, “India is one of Hilton’s most important growth markets, and the emerging expectations of the country’s luxury traveller are creating significant opportunity for brands that offer individual and experience-led stays. Bengaluru is a natural market for this next phase of growth as it is globally connected, culturally dynamic and home to a diverse community of travellers. As we continue to grow our luxury portfolio across the country, The Den Bengaluru, LXR Hotels & Resorts adds a new dimension to the experiences we can offer travellers.”

The hotel’s guest rooms, studios and suites couple intuitive technology with soothing interiors suited to business travel, leisure and extended stays. Dining spans four venues, including Layla, a rooftop restaurant with Indian and Mediterranean influences; The Creek, the hotel’s all-day dining multi-cuisine destination; The Deli, offering specialty coffee and artisanal pastries; and wellness-focused The Cold Press, a dedicated wellness counter offering cold-pressed juices, smoothies and nourishing refreshments.

At the heart of the hotel's wellness offering is The Sanctuary spa, where treatments are drawn from contemporary wellness practices and traditional healing philosophies. Guests can maintain their routines at The Studio fitness centre or unwind by the outdoor pool. Recreational spaces include The Playhouse, which features digital tabletop games and a pool table, and The Cave, an immersive screening experience designed to encourage informal socialising. For meetings, weddings and celebrations, the hotel offers more than 21,000 square feet of flexible event space across seven venues, ranging from a ballroom and auditorium to meeting rooms and an open-air amphitheatre.

“LXR Hotels & Resorts brings together a hand-selected collection of distinctive hotels in the world’s most alluring destinations,” said Dino Michael, senior vice president and category head, Hilton Luxury. Hilton and Scandic Sign New Nordics Strategic Agreement
Image File
Original HTML

• Hilton and Scandic Hotels Group have signed a multi-year development agreement covering Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

• The first hotel announced under the agreement is a 284-room Hilton Hotels & Resorts property at Scanport, adjacent to Copenhagen Airport, expected to open in 2029.

• Hilton and Scandic also plan to introduce new benefits for Hilton Honors and Scandic Friends members, with further details to be announced.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Hilton (NYSE: HLT) and Scandic Hotels Group, the largest hotel operator in the Nordics, have signed a strategic agreement to accelerate the growth of Hilton’s brands across Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

Under the multi-year agreement, Hilton and Scandic will work together to pursue development opportunities across the four markets, combining Hilton’s globally recognised brands and commercial reach with Scandic’s extensive regional platform, operational expertise and established presence throughout the Nordics. The agreement focuses on individual development opportunities for Hilton and Scandic across the Nordics and is not a broad conversion of Scandic’s portfolio.

The companies will also announce new benefits for members of the Hilton Honors and Scandic Friends loyalty programs at a later date, with the shared ambition to further open the Nordics to Hilton Honors members and the world to Scandic Friends.

The agreement is already taking shape in Copenhagen, where Scandic has signed a new Hilton Hotels & Resorts property at Scanport, adjacent to Copenhagen Airport. The 284-room hotel will be operated by Scandic under a franchise agreement with Hilton and is expected to open in 2029.

Located near Scandinavia's largest aviation hub, the full-service property will feature a restaurant and bar, meeting and event facilities, wellness amenities, a fitness area and an executive lounge overlooking the Öresund Strait. The construction will start as soon as the remaining pending conditions have been met.

The relationship between Hilton and Scandic spans more than two decades, with three Hilton Hotels & Resorts properties currently operating in Helsinki: Hilton Helsinki Airport, Hilton Helsinki Strand and Hilton Helsinki Kalastajatorppa. Plans are underway to renovate Hilton Helsinki Airport through a multi-phase refurbishment programme that will modernise key guest-facing areas and further enhance the overall hotel experience.

Chris Nassetta, president & CEO, Hilton, said, “This strategic agreement represents a significant milestone for Hilton in the Nordics, creating a clear pathway to expand our leading brands across four important markets. It reflects our long-term ambition for the region and, together with Scandic, opens the door to significant new opportunities for Hilton, our owners and our guests.”

Jens Mathiesen, president & CEO, Scandic Hotels Group, said, “This agreement is well aligned with Scandic's long-term growth strategy. Having successfully franchised and operated Hilton hotels in Helsinki for many years, we have demonstrated the strength of combining a global brand with Scandic's leading operational platform. Together with Hilton, we see attractive opportunities to grow and expand our business across the Nordics.”

The agreement comes amid continued momentum for travel across the Nordic region, where inbound tourism has seen a strong and sustained recovery in recent years. International demand has continued to grow, supported by increasing interest in nature-based experiences, outdoor travel and cooler-climate destinations. In 2025, Sweden recorded more than 70 million guest nights1, Denmark around 68 million2, Norway more than 40 million3, and Finland over 23 million 4, with international demand – including from the United States and major European source markets – contributing strongly to growth.

- The hotel will feature 34,000+ square feet of meeting and event space, including a 13,000-square-foot ballroom, five food and beverage venues, Club Signia and an outdoor pool.

- Together with the expanded Savannah Convention Center, the hotel will create a more integrated convention campus and expand Savannah’s ability to accommodate larger conventions, meetings and events.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Signia Hilton Savannah reached a major construction milestone today as the Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority (SGCCA), Savannah Convention Center, Hilton, Brasfield & Gorrie, Songy Highroads, elected officials and community partners celebrated the topping out of the 444-room hotel. The property will serve as the headquarters hotel for the Savannah Convention Center, further enhancing the destination's ability to host meetings, events and conventions.

Scheduled to open in 2028, the hotel will connect directly to the Savannah Convention Center, expanding the city’s capacity to accommodate larger conventions, citywide meetings and events. Together, the convention center expansion and headquarters hotel position Savannah as a leading destination for more meetings and conventions while generating additional visitor spending and economic opportunity throughout the region.

Today's topping out ceremony marked the placement of the building's highest structural beam, recognizing the progress made by the hundreds of workers helping bring the project to life. To date, more than 1,200 individual workers have contributed to the project, with more than 300 on-site daily. Construction crews have poured more than 27,000 cubic yards of concrete, installed 2,700 tons of reinforcing steel and completed 1,135 auger piles totaling more than 81,000 linear feet of deep foundations to support the nearly 200-foot-tall tower.

“This milestone represents much more than the progress of a hotel,” said Kelvin Moore, general manager and senior vice president, Savannah Convention Center. “It represents the continued realization of a vision for Savannah’s convention and meetings future. The expansion of the Savannah Convention Center gave us the capacity to compete at a new level, and Signia Hilton Savannah represents the next critical step in that evolution by creating a more integrated convention campus and delivering an experience our customers have told us they need. Together, these investments position Savannah to compete for business that previously could not consider our destination and create new opportunities for economic impact throughout our community and region.”

"Topping out the Signia Hilton Savannah is a milestone we're proud to celebrate with the SGCCA," said John Fulford, vice president and division manager, Brasfield & Gorrie. "This hotel isn't just another addition to the skyline, it's a critical component that will let the Savannah Convention Center compete for the larger, longer-stay conventions, bringing more visitors, more jobs, and more business to the entire riverfront. Brasfield & Gorrie is expanding in Savannah, and projects like this one reflect our continued commitment to investing in this community for the long haul. We're honored to help deliver a project that will shape how the world experiences Savannah for decades to come."

"Reaching this milestone is an exciting moment for Signia Hilton Savannah and a reflection of our confidence in the city as a premier destination for all types of travelers," said Danny Hughes, president, Americas, Hilton. "As the convention center's headquarters hotel, this property will bring together sophisticated accommodations, distinctive design, signature food and beverage experiences, wellness offerings and unparalleled meetings and events capabilities in a way that is uniquely Signia Hilton. We're proud to partner with the Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority and our development partners to create a hotel that will welcome travelers from around the world and contribute to Savannah's continued growth and success.”

Owned by the Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority and developed in partnership with the Georgia World Congress Center Authority, Signia Hilton Savannah will be managed by Hilton, with Songy Highroads and Matthews Southwest Hospitality serving as co-developers. The property will feature more than 34,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a 13,000-square-foot ballroom, Club Signia, an outdoor pool and five distinct food and beverage venues. The hotel's culinary program is being developed in partnership with Savannah-based hospitality company Grey Spaces, led by acclaimed Chef Mashama Bailey and restaurateur Johno Morisano, bringing a locally inspired dining experience to the riverfront destination. The property will complement the expanded Savannah Convention Center by creating an integrated campus experience that supports larger events and enhances Savannah's appeal as a premier meetings and tourism destination.

During the ceremony, project partners, elected officials and community leaders participated in a ceremonial beam signing.

Hilton expects its common stock to begin trading on Nasdaq under its existing ticker symbol, HLT, at market open on Nov. 5, 2026. Hilton shares will continue to trade on the New York Stock Exchange until market close on Nov. 4, 2026, and no action is required by shareholders in connection with the transfer.

“Fueled by our asset-light business model, best-in-class brands, award-winning culture and leading commercial and technology platforms, Hilton continues to define what’s next in travel,” said Chris Nassetta, president and chief executive officer, Hilton. “We have built brands and technologies guests love, owners prefer and a business that continues to create long-term value for all our stakeholders while staying true to our purpose as a business of people serving people. Nasdaq is closely aligned with our growth ambitions, and we look forward to joining a marketplace that is highly respected as the home of many of the world’s most innovative companies.”

Since returning to the public markets in 2013, Hilton has transformed from a portfolio of 10 brands and approximately 4,100 hotels in 90 countries and territories into a global hospitality leader with 28 brands and more than 9,400 properties across 144 countries and territories. The company has also expanded its luxury and lifestyle portfolio from approximately 50 to 1,200 hotels, earned recognition as the World’s Best Workplace by Fortune and Great Place to Work, and grown Hilton Honors to more than 260 million members globally.

Through new product offerings like AI-powered trip planning to connect the journey from search to stay, as well as a fully modernized technology platform that allows rapid scaling of new guest-facing tools like personalized digital messaging, Hilton is driving efficiency and profitability for owners while delivering guest customization at scale.

The company also recently announced the appointment of a new chief technology officer, further strengthening its commitment to lead the industry in innovation.

"Hilton is one of the world's most recognized and respected hospitality brands, with a long history of delivering exceptional experiences for travelers around the globe," said Adena Friedman, chair and chief executive officer, Nasdaq. "We are proud to welcome Hilton to Nasdaq and look forward to supporting the company as it builds on its legacy and enters a new chapter."

Hilton has a long and proud history with the New York Stock Exchange, becoming the first hotel company to be listed on the exchange in 1946 and returning in 2013 after being privately held by Blackstone Inc.

“We are deeply grateful to the New York Stock Exchange for its longstanding partnership and the important role it has played in our public-company journey,” added Nassetta.

The transfer does not alter Hilton’s business strategy, capital allocation priorities or commitment to guests, owners, team members and shareholders.
