Revenues from overseas test preparation and consulting business increased by approximately 7.7%. In addition, our domestic test preparation business targeting adults and university students grew by approximately 22.3% year over year, while our new educational business initiatives grew by approximately 24.7% year over year. This quarter, our non-academic tutoring courses reached around 60 cities, attracting approximately 476,000 student enrollments, and our intelligent learning system and devices were adopted across around 60 cities, with approximately 515,000 active paid users. In this new fiscal year, we will continue to deepen the execution of our core strategy, with continuous improvement in teaching and product quality as our primary growth drivers. We are confident that this disciplined approach will enable us to generate healthy and sustainable value over the long term. Alongside our growth momentum, our cost optimization and operational efficiency initiatives have entered a new phase this year and have achieved notable progress. New Oriental Home, our newly established comprehensive customer service platform integrated across all departments, had already served over 1,678,000 families across 69 cities by the end of this quarter. This platform has already begun to demonstrate its ability to enhance customer loyalty and retention and strengthen our cross-selling capabilities. We remain firmly committed to building a stronger brand and creating enduring value for our customers and shareholders."

Chenggang Zhou, New Oriental's Chief Executive Officer, added, "This fiscal quarter, we continued to execute our strategy of disciplined capacity expansion to balance revenue growth with operational efficiency. Equally important, AI remains at the core of our organizational priorities. This fiscal year, we will maintain measured investment in AI to enhance the competitiveness of our existing products, develop new AI-powered education products that can be commercialized efficiently, and apply AI more broadly to reduce labor costs and improve operating efficiency, while providing stronger support to our staff. In this fiscal quarter, East Buy expanded its private label portfolio to over 1,000 SPUs and its Douyin channel matrix to more than 30 vertical accounts. Leveraging New Oriental's learning center network, East Buy now has four offline experience stores and has developed instant retail capabilities, including one-hour delivery trials in Beijing and Shanghai. For this fiscal year, East Buy will advance its multi-channel strategy, accelerate private label development, refine App membership operations and enhance supply chain efficiency to support sustainable long-term growth."

Stephen Zhihui Yang, New Oriental's Executive President and Chief Financial Officer, commented, "We are pleased to report that, in this fiscal quarter, both our core education business and East Buy recorded year over year expansion in their respective operating margins, primarily attributable to enhanced operational efficiency and improved utilization of our learning centers. Concurrently, East Buy's rapid growth increased its share of total revenue, and this shift in our revenue mix kept our consolidated operating margin at a stable level during this quarter. We view this as an anticipated consequence of scaling new businesses, and we remain confident in the margin trajectory of each business line on a standalone basis. In this fiscal year, we will remain firmly committed to our strategy of pursuing balanced revenue and profit growth, and we will continue to deepen our cost reduction and efficiency enhancement initiatives across key business lines. Through these efforts, we aim to deliver sustainable, healthy growth over the long term while steadily enhancing our profitability."

Appian and PSI CRO Form Strategic Partnership to Advance AI-driven Clinical Trial Operations

First joint project launches a broader platform strategy for process orchestration across the clinical trial lifecycle

BERLIN, Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Appian (Nasdaq: APPN) and PSI CRO announced today the launch of their first joint AI-powered process orchestration solution. The new offering automates clinical trial site identification and selection across therapeutic areas, indications, and geographies.

The live solution is the first step in a shared vision by PSI and Appian to build a scalable platform that connects automation, AI-powered capabilities, and process orchestration across the full clinical trial lifecycle. Together, the companies are creating a foundation designed to improve efficiency, transparency, and speed across complex clinical trial processes.

AI and process orchestration for complex site selection

Clinical trial site selection is a highly coordinated process involving multiple stakeholders, large volumes of documentation, and parallel activities across countries and regions. The new solution brings previously manual, decentralised steps into a single digital process, from project initiation through the subsequent stages of site selection.

Recognised by Gartner as a Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant⢠for Business Orchestration and Automation Technologies (BOAT), we believe the Appian Platform provides the foundation for this solution. It identifies and selects the most suitable study sites for sponsors, providing greater end-to-end visibility and enabling faster execution across the site selection process.

The solution goes beyond task automation to orchestrate the end-to-end process, connecting people, data, systems, and AI in a single workflow. It coordinates activities across teams and geographies and automates information and document processing. It also manages routing and exceptions, providing real-time insight into process performance.

The solution integrates with PSI's core systems and data warehouse, as well as Appian's AI and process intelligence capabilities. The integrated solution creates a scalable foundation for faster decisions, greater consistency, and continuous improvement.

Starting point for a long-term platform strategy

The site selection solution puts PSI's platform vision into practice. It combines PSI's focus on predictable clinical trial delivery with Appian's process automation and AI capabilities.

"The AI-powered clinical trial site selection solution is an important step in how we are rethinking and connecting our operational processes," says Kirill Soldatov, Head of Process Improvement at PSI. "PSI is known for our ability to deliver complex clinical trials on time. Building a more connected operational model through automation, AI-powered capabilities, and process orchestration within our existing workflows creates a scalable foundation for more predictable, accurate, and timely site selection worldwide, with the goal to further reduce or eliminate non-enrolling sites and patient enrollment delays."

"This initial project demonstrates the value AI can create when it is embedded in business processes. The solution helps PSI process information faster with automation and manage processes with greater transparency with orchestration. Through our strategic partnership with PSI, we aim to create a flexible, long-term foundation for further automation and innovation," adds Alexander Motie, Regional Vice President DACH & Eastern Europe at Appian.

With the first solution now live, PSI and Appian will build on this foundation by evaluating further use cases to extend AI-powered process orchestration across the clinical trial lifecycle. The goal is to shorten clinical studies and increase predictability, thus introducing new products to market and driving down costs for consumers.

Innovative research builds on existing breakthroughs to overcome drug resistance in RET-positive cancers

WASHINGTON, Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2026 recipients of the RETpositive/LUNGevity Translational Research Award for RET-positive Cancer have been announced by LUNGevity Foundation and RETpositive. The awards support innovative research aimed at advancing treatment options and improving outcomes for people living with RET-positive cancer.

Alterations in the RET gene are known to drive several cancers. RET fusions, created when part of the RET gene joins with another gene, occur in 1% to 2% of non-small cell lung cancers. Changes to the RET gene are also found in thyroid, colon, breast, and other cancers. Currently, two RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to treat RET-positive cancer. Although these therapies can be effective, tumors eventually evolve to resist treatment and begin to grow again. Overcoming drug resistance is therefore a critical priority for patients with RET-positive cancers.

Through this award mechanism, RETpositive, a patient-led advocacy organization dedicated to raising awareness and advancing research for RET-positive cancers, aims to accelerate high-impact studies that address treatment resistance and transform the future for everyone diagnosed with RET-positive cancer.

"Patients cannot afford to wait. We need to be smart and efficient by supporting only the most promising ideas so they can become lifesaving treatments as soon as possible," said Emily Walthall, RETpositive board member living with stage IV RET-driven lung cancer. "Through our partnership with LUNGevity, we are building novel combination approaches to treatment that are designed to overcome drug resistance in RET-positive cancers."

The recipients of the 2026 RETpositive/LUNGevity Translational Research Award for RET-positive Cancer are:

Researcher: Tejas Patil, MD

Institution: University of Colorado Denver, AMC and DC

Project: Targeting cell cycling vulnerabilities in RET-fusion positive NSCLC

Total Award: $140,000

Drug resistance to RET TKIs is caused by drug-tolerant persister (DTP) cells that adapt and evolve to evade treatment. In this project, Dr. Patil aims to understand how these DTP cells survive and how to eliminate them before resistance develops. There are special cellular pathways that are known to help DTP cells survive. Dr. Patil aims to overcome drug resistance by combining a drug that targets these pathways with a RET TKI. Because the drugs he plans to test are already used in other cancers, this approach could speed the development of effective new treatments for patients with RET-positive lung cancer.

Researcher: Jie Wu, PhD

Institution: University of Oklahoma

Project: Enhancing RET-targeted cancer therapy with antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs)

Total Award: $200,000

Cancer cells often acquire genetic mutations to work around targeted treatments and drive cancer growth. This moving target has made it difficult for researchers to develop enduring cancer treatments. In this project, Dr. Wu will investigate the use of TKIs in combination with FDA-approved antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) to kill proliferating tumor cells in residual tumors while sparing healthy cells. By targeting multiple mutations simultaneously, this work has the potential to stop drug resistance from developing in RET-positive cancer. If successful, Dr. Wu's research could offer a treatment strategy for RET-positive cancers that offers an enduring treatment benefit for patients.

"We are excited to partner with RETpositive to support this pan-cancer research award focused on overcoming drug resistance in RET-positive cancers," said Upal Basu Roy, PhD, MPH, Executive Director of LUNGevity Research. "Combining existing, approved treatments offers an effective and efficient path toward the development of lifesaving treatments. The impact of these research projects has the potential to be felt across the RET-positive cancer community by bringing the hope of long-lasting treatments to patients and their loved ones."

About Lung Cancer in the US

- About 1 in 19 Americans will be diagnosed with lung cancer in their lifetime.

- More than 229,000 people in the US will be diagnosed with lung cancer this year, with a new diagnosis every 2.3 minutes.

- It is estimated that close to 65% of all new lung cancer diagnoses are among people with no tobacco exposure or only past tobacco exposure.

- More lives are lost to lung cancer than to the next two deadliest cancers (colorectal and pancreatic) combined.

- Only 29.5% of all people diagnosed with lung cancer will survive 5 years or more, but if it's caught before it spreads, the chance of 5-year survival improves to 65%.

How to Secure MQTT Data Collection Across OT and IT Networks
Image File
Original HTML

MQTT can move industrial telemetry across network boundaries without giving every IT system direct access to control systems. That outcome depends on the architecture around the broker, clients, identity, and operations—not merely on choosing an encrypted port.

The first security question is: which components must communicate, in which direction, and for what narrowly defined purpose? Answer it before choosing a broker location or writing a firewall request. A secure collection design limits each publisher and subscriber to the connections and topic scope it actually needs.

Treat the broker as a trust boundary, not just a relay

An MQTT broker receives publications, matches subscriptions, and distributes messages. Whether and how it authenticates clients and authorizes their actions depends on the deployment. Its placement determines which systems need a route to it. It does not remove the need to protect the OT sources that publish data or the IT systems that consume it.

A common conceptual pattern is:

OT device or edge gateway

|

| authenticated MQTT connection

v

Broker in an approved OT, DMZ, or controlled service zone

|

| separately authorized subscriber connection

v

Historian collector or IT application

This is not a universal topology. A site may place a broker near sources, in an industrial DMZ, or in another approved service zone based on its threat model, available services, reliability needs, and operating ownership. The important constraint is that a subscriber in IT should connect to an approved broker endpoint; it does not need unrestricted inbound reachability to controllers or the wider OT network.

NIST’s Guide to Operational Technology Security emphasizes that OT security must account for performance, reliability, and safety as well as conventional cybersecurity risk. Use the site’s approved zone-and-conduit design, rather than copying an example broker placement into every plant.

Separate transport protection from client identity and authorization

TLS can provide confidentiality and integrity in transit and let a client validate the server certificate. It does not decide whether a connected client should publish to a command topic, read a whole site, or continue to use a compromised credential.

Build the broker connection policy in layers:

The MQTT specification deliberately leaves the chosen authentication and authorization technologies to the implementation and deployment. It describes security needs such as client authentication, resource authorization, message integrity, and privacy, but broker ACL syntax and enforcement are not standardized. Validate them on the deployed broker.

Use certificate validation deliberately. Accepting any certificate to make commissioning easier removes a core server-identity check. Where mutual TLS fits the site’s identity and lifecycle model, client certificates can authenticate both ends; where managed user credentials are used, protect them in transit, limit their topic scope, rotate them, and remove them promptly when a device or service is retired.

Keep publisher and subscriber permissions separate

One client identity should not receive broad rights merely because it can publish a useful telemetry stream. A gateway that publishes industrial/site-a/line-2/filler-07/telemetry may need no right to subscribe to commands. A historian collector may need to subscribe to approved telemetry patterns but should not publish to operational-control topics.

Define these permissions separately in the broker’s policy model:

- Publish: exact source branches a device or gateway is allowed to send.

- Subscribe: exact telemetry, event, or health branches a collector may receive.

- Administrative access: distinct operator identities for broker configuration, account changes, and audit access.

Avoid #-style broad access policies when a narrow topic filter can express the purpose. The hierarchy matters because it helps ACLs be readable and reviewable, but a topic design alone is not an access-control system. The broker must actually enforce the policy and log failed attempts.

Shared brokers also need ownership rules. Development, test, and production workloads should not rely on easily confused names and permissive credentials. At minimum, separate environments by endpoint, identity realm, or well-governed namespace; confirm that a test client cannot subscribe to production data through an accidental wildcard.

Manage client identities and certificates as operational assets

Give each connection a unique, traceable client identity. Reused IDs make it harder to attribute activity and can cause client-session conflicts. Associate identities with an owner, source system, allowed topic scope, credential type, expiry date, and revocation procedure.

Certificate and credential rotation needs an operational test, not just a policy. Test a new certificate before expiry, confirm the client rejects an untrusted replacement, and rehearse revoking a lost gateway credential. Keep time synchronization healthy: certificate validity, log correlation, and incident analysis all depend on usable clocks.

For TDengine TSDB Enterprise’s documented MQTT ingestion connector, the current configuration supports broker username/password and TLS verification choices including one-way server-certificate verification and mutual TLS. It also requires unique client IDs for clients connecting to the same MQTT address. These controls apply to the connector-to-broker connection; they do not define the broker’s ACL policy or secure every other path. Verify the deployed edition and version against the current MQTT ingestion documentation before relying on a specific option.

Monitor the access path and test denial cases

Logs should let an operator answer: which identity connected, from where, under which certificate or account, which subscription was granted or denied, and which publication was rejected? Correlate broker events with gateway and collector logs, but do not put secrets or full sensitive payloads into logs by default.

Test negative cases in a safe environment: a client with an expired certificate, a publisher attempting an unauthorized topic, a collector requesting an overbroad subscription, and a connection from an unapproved network path. Confirm that the failure is denied, logged, and alerted according to the operating procedure.

For systems collecting industrial history in TDengine TSDB, this design keeps the data route intentional: sources publish only to an approved broker path, collectors authenticate separately, and the historian receives only the data it is authorized to ingest. TLS is an important layer, but the secure outcome comes from the combined design of network exposure, identity, topic authorization, lifecycle management, and monitoring.

Automobilmanager erwarten bis 2035 eine neue globale Wettbewerbsordnung

Berlin (ots)
