New agentic AI platform sounds death knell for manual presentation tools

Sembly AI launches Sembly 3.0 in biggest evolution since 2019

NEW YORK, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Sembly AI launches Sembly 3.0, an agentic AI platform that transforms an organisation's documents, meetings, and CRM content into finished, fully branded presentations, proposals, case studies and reports in minutes in over 45 languages.

The launch marks the company's biggest evolution since it was founded in 2019, repositioning Sembly as an "AI execution layer" for businesses. It turns everyday business knowledge into the finished materials companies use to sell, deliver and communicate.

Users simply need to specify their goal (eg, "Sell my services") and the client's website, then watch Sembly get to work: pulling information from business materials, deriving appropriate branding, researching the customer, and producing a bespoke on-brand pitch deck.

"Prompts make people think about how to talk to AI. But dialogue lets them focus on what they want to accomplish," said Gil Makleff, CEO and co-founder of Sembly AI. "That makes creating business documents faster and more efficient, turning time saved into real business impact."

"Manually creating presentations is a thing of the past," said Artem Koren, Chief Product & Technology Officer and co-founder of Sembly AI. "Business materials are the substrate of decision-making: they are how companies communicate, persuade and decide. Sembly 3.0 changes how they are made entirely."

"Your customers want to hear how you serve them in their specific world and their specific situation, and Sembly makes that possible for every customer," Koren added. "With Sembly 3.0, your results are as good as how clearly you can state your goal. That's all you're limited by."

Early users of Sembly 3.0 report saving two to three weeks of work on reports and presentations that traditionally pass through multiple hands before they are delivery-ready.

Heorhii Tulchyi, Chief Technology Officer at market research company, Bell & Holmes, is one of those early users of Sembly 3.0.

He said: "Sembly has fundamentally changed how I prepare presentations and client communications. It has saved my team and me weeks of work and dramatically accelerated how we turn ideas and information into polished deliverables. I haven't seen anything else on the market quite like it."

Sembly 3.0 is available from today at www.sembly.ai.

Meritz Securities Partners with Benzinga to Bring Real-Time U.S. Market Intelligence to Korean Investors

Stock News API and Bulls Say Bears Say API bring real-time market news and analyst sentiment to MOUM, Meritz Securities' next-generation AI investment platform

DETROIT and SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Benzinga, a leading provider of real-time financial news and market intelligence, today announced that Meritz Securities has added Benzinga's Stock News API and Bulls Say Bears Say API to its investing platform, bringing real-time market news and analyst sentiment insights directly into the trading experience for South Korean investors.

Meritz, one of South Korea's leading securities firms, continues to expand the market data available across its platform as more Korean investors look to trade U.S. equities and other global markets. As a result, the relationship gives Meritz users access to Benzinga's real-time news coverage alongside concise, balanced analyst sentiment, all within a single experience.

The integration is part of Meritz Securities' broader strategy to build MOUM as a next-generation AI investment platform by bringing together leading global market data, financial content and AI capabilities into a unified investment experience.

Benzinga's Stock News API delivers real-time headlines and breaking news across U.S. equities, covering earnings, analyst actions, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory developments, and other market-moving events as they happen. Similarly, the Bulls Say Bears Say API distills analyst research into concise bullish and bearish summaries for a given stock, helping investors quickly understand both sides of the investment case without wading through dense reports.

Through this integration, Meritz is bringing both feeds directly into MOUM, giving users a faster path from headline to context. Instead of piecing together news and analyst opinion from multiple sources, Meritz investors can view real-time coverage and sentiment summaries side by side, right where they are already making decisions.

By combining real-time market intelligence with AI-powered analysis and trading capabilities, Meritz aims to create a more seamless path from information discovery and analysis to investment decision-making within a single platform.

The relationship also marks one of Benzinga's first direct data integrations with a major South Korean brokerage, reflecting the growing demand among Asian investors for the same real-time market intelligence long relied on by U.S. and European trading platforms. For Benzinga, it is a meaningful step in expanding its data footprint across Asia's fast-growing retail investing market.

"Meritz is one of the most respected names in Korean finance, and bringing our real-time news and sentiment data to their platform reflects the growing appetite among Korean investors for the same market intelligence used by trading platforms globally," said Jae Hur, Head of Asia at Benzinga. "Stock News and Bulls Say Bears Say give Meritz users a faster, clearer read on what's moving the market and why."

"Our vision for MOUM goes beyond simply adding individual investment tools. We are building a next-generation Agentic AI investment platform that connects market data, financial content, AI-powered intelligence and trading into a single, seamless investment experience," said Jangwook Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Inno Biz Division, overseeing Meritz Securities' platform business. "Our collaboration with Benzinga is an important part of that strategy, and we will continue to expand our global ecosystem by working with leading technology, data and financial partners around the world."

As Korean investors increasingly seek direct access to U.S. markets, real-time context has become as important as raw price data. The addition of Stock News and Bulls Say Bears Say reflects that broader shift, giving Meritz a deeper layer of market intelligence to offer its growing base of investors.

More broadly, the collaboration reflects Meritz Securities' strategy to connect Korean investors with world-class global investment infrastructure, content and technology through MOUM, while continuing to expand partnerships across the global financial ecosystem.

Demand AI Appoints John P O'Malley as Non-Executive Chairman

Global technology, data, and B2B executive joins Demand AI Board as company enters its next phase of growth

DENVER, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Demand AI, the AI-native technology company transforming B2B marketing and demand generation, today announced the appointment of John P O'Malley as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board.

O'Malley brings more than three decades of experience across the technology, data, media and B2B marketing industries. During an extensive career with IDG, he held senior leadership positions across international markets, including CEO of IDG's demand-generation business and international sales and operations divisions, before becoming Chief Operating Officer of IDG Communications, with responsibilities spanning data, technology, engineering, finance and global operations.

He also brings extensive corporate development experience across both organic and inorganic growth, including acquisition strategy, buy- and sell-side M&A, due diligence and post-merger integration. He was closely involved in the development of IDG's data and demand-generation capabilities, including Pipeline Activator, an early technology platform designed to help marketers identify and act on companies showing active buying signals.

O'Malley joins the Demand AI Board at an important point in the company's development, as the business expands its global footprint, continues to grow its customer base and develops a new generation of AI-native technology designed to transform how B2B organisations identify, reach, engage and understand potential customers.

As Non-Executive Chairman, O'Malley will chair the Board and work closely with CEO Michael Whife and the senior leadership team, as Demand AI enters its next phase of growth. His focus will include Board governance, corporate strategy, international expansion and corporate development, including the evaluation of inorganic growth and M&A opportunities.

Why Demand AI?

For O'Malley, the decision to take on the role reflects his conviction that B2B marketing is entering a fundamental period of change.

The traditional demand-generation model has largely been built around scale: identify large numbers of contacts, deliver campaigns and pass leads to sales. At the same time, marketers have accumulated increasingly sophisticated technology and enormous volumes of data without necessarily gaining a corresponding understanding of buyer behaviour.

Demand AI has taken a different approach.

The company is centred on an AI-native technology platform designed around the fundamental problem B2B marketers are trying to solve: how to identify the right potential customers, engage them meaningfully, understand what they need and turn those interactions into measurable commercial outcomes.

Its Amplifye.ai engine combines Demand AI's first-party data, proprietary email-delivery technology and AI-powered content engagement capabilities. Through Insyte pages, buyers can interact conversationally with content, allowing Demand AI's customers to understand not simply that someone engaged with an asset, but what they were interested in and what information they were seeking.

Demand AI is continuing to invest heavily in the infrastructure required to support its technology, including global data centres, proprietary delivery infrastructure and a continually refreshed global first-party database.

Michael Whife, Co-Founder and CEO of Demand AI, said:

"John brings an unusual combination of deep B2B market knowledge, global operating experience and a strong track record of building and transforming businesses."

"He understands both the technology and commercial dynamics of our market, but equally importantly, he has extensive experience working with leadership teams and Boards through periods of growth and strategic change. Having John chair our Board will be extremely valuable as we scale Demand AI and consider the opportunities ahead of us."

John P O'Malley, Non-Executive Chairman of Demand AI, said:

"I have spent much of my career working at the intersection of technology, data, media and B2B marketing. What attracted me to Demand AI is the combination of proprietary data, infrastructure and AI-native technology, and the opportunity to apply those capabilities to some of the fundamental challenges B2B marketers are trying to solve. I believe there is a significant opportunity ahead for the company."

He added:

"Demand AI has built a strong foundation across data, technology, infrastructure and B2B expertise. I look forward to working with Michael, Charlie and the wider leadership team as the company builds on that foundation, scales internationally and evaluates both organic and inorganic opportunities for growth."

Charlie Whife, Co-Founder and Chief Revenue Officer of Demand AI, said:

"John has built and led businesses in this market at significant scale and understands both the opportunities and challenges involved in building internationally. His strategic, operational and Board experience will bring an important additional perspective as Demand AI enters its next phase of growth, and we are delighted to have him join us as Chairman."

Building the engine for B2B marketers

Demand AI's proposition is deliberately different from both traditional demand-generation providers and conventional marketing SaaS.

Rather than selling lead volumes or providing software that primarily stores data and automates existing processes, Demand AI is building technology that connects data, engagement, intelligence and action.

The company's ambition is to become the AI-native operating system for B2B revenue growth.

The appointment of O'Malley strengthens the company's Board at a time when the B2B marketing industry is undergoing one of its most significant transformations in decades.

For Demand AI, the priority is not simply to participate in that transformation, but to help define what comes next.

About Demand AI

Demand AI is an AI-native B2B marketing technology company focused on helping organisations identify, reach, engage and understand their future customers. Its technology platform combines proprietary first-party data, global infrastructure, proprietary email-delivery technology, AI-powered content engagement and buyer-intent intelligence to help B2B marketers generate measurable commercial outcomes.

Demand AI operates globally across North America, Europe, APAC and MEA, with technology and infrastructure designed to support compliant, scalable B2B marketing programmes across international markets.

The date of this release deliberately coincides with one of the worst events of early American history: the anniversary of the Mountain Meadows Massacre of September 7, 1857. The publisher presents the free PDF as a public counter-record: the complete gold plates transcription offered without charge.

The downloadable transcription, presented as a single reading of the gold plates of Mormon and his son Moroni includes:

- The 1828 lost manuscript, retranslated. The Book of Lehi, identified in the 1830 preface as the source of the 116 pages that Martin Harris took from Harmony and never returned. Smith was directed not to reproduce those pages. The text now includes the later retranslation offered as the recovery of that missing opening manuscript.

- The unsealed plates as rendered in 1830. The text Joseph Smith dictated and E. B. Grandin printed in Palmyra asThe Book of Mormon: An Account Written by the Hand of Mormon, Upon Plates Taken from the Plates of Nephi

- The sealed plates as published in 2004. The Sealed Portion—The Final Testament of Jesus Christ, presented as Moroni's abridgment of the vision of the brother of Jared—the portion early witnesses described as remaining "sealed."

ChainIT Answered Who Authorized the AI Agent. Now It Answers: Do Current Compliance Evidence and Policy Permit It to Act?
Image File
Original HTML

Agentic commerce does not eliminate compliance requirements; it heightens the need for current, transaction-specific controls as AI agents increase the speed, scale and autonomy of transactions

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Last week, ChainIT published "Provable Authority" to address a fundamental question for the emerging agentic economy: Who authorized the AI agent, within what limits and for which exact action? Today, ChainIT, a digital verification and compliance platform, announced the release of "Provable Compliance: A Protocol for Runtime Compliance Evidence and Transaction-Specific Decisioning," a companion technical white paper describing the ChainIT Compliance Protocol within the ChainIT Transaction Truth Architecture. It addresses the next operational question: Even when valid authority exists, do current compliance evidence and the organization's applicable policy permit this specific action to proceed now—whether it is initiated by an AI agent, an authorized person, a group, an organization or an organization-controlled workflow?

Agentic commerce does not eliminate compliance requirements; it compresses the time available to evaluate them as AI agents operate continuously and at machine speed. Financial institutions and businesses already maintain customer due diligence, sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, licensing, beneficial ownership and other compliance programs. The challenge is that identity, authority, compliance evidence, policy, review and payment approval often remain fragmented across separate systems. A prior check may not show which source and policy were current, what decision was reached or whether that decision was bound to the exact action that followed.

An AI agent may be properly authorized to pay an approved vendor and still need to be stopped from completing a particular transaction. A sanctions or ownership record may have changed, the destination may be new, a license may no longer satisfy policy, or an institution-generated alert may require review. Provable Compliance is designed to evaluate what applies at the moment of reliance without turning one favorable check into a permanent, reusable compliance badge.

Provable Compliance is designed to make the resulting decision attributable, time-bounded and transaction-specific. The architecture uses modular Evidence Assertion VDTs—Validated Data Tokens—to preserve source class, provenance, observation time, confidence, permitted purpose and privacy classification. A versioned Compliance Policy Profile selects the applicable requirements. The ChainIT Business Rules Engine returns explicit, reason-coded predicates, and the organization-configured ChainIT Workflow Engine produces a signed Compliance Decision VDT with a disposition such as Allow, Allow with Controls, Step-Up, Review, Hold, Reject, Prohibit or Stale/Unknown.

"Last week, we addressed who authorized the AI agent and what the agent was permitted to do. Provable Compliance addresses the next question: even when authority exists, do current compliance evidence and the organization's policy permit this specific action right now?" said Jeremy Blackburn, Chief Executive Officer of ChainIT. "Agentic commerce does not eliminate compliance requirements; it compresses the time available to evaluate them. AI agents should not operate from a check performed weeks or months earlier, and a favorable result should never become standing authority to move money. Before an agent—or any authorized person or workflow—takes a consequential action, organizations need a current, attributable and auditable decision. That is the problem Provable Compliance is designed to solve."

Together, the two white papers define the ChainIT Authority Protocol and ChainIT Compliance Protocol as constituent controls within ChainIT Transaction Truth, the company's zero-trust transaction control, execution and evidence architecture. Identity establishes who is present; Authority determines who or what may act and within what bounds; and Compliance determines whether current compliance evidence and policy permit the action now. Before value may move, the control path must still verify scope, approvals, freshness, capacity, exact instruction binding and a single-use execution credential. The resulting Transaction Truth is a source-attributed, time-bounded, purpose-specific and independently verifiable record of the parties, authority, evidence, policy, transaction terms, execution, settlement, reconciliation and outcome.

Core Technical Pillars

- Source-attributed, time-bounded evidence: Separate Evidence Assertion VDTs preserve the source class, source version, observation time, confidence, purpose and privacy treatment for each relevant fact or institution-generated state.

- Versioned policy and deterministic decisioning: A Compliance Policy Profile selects the requirements for the institution, product, role, counterparty, jurisdiction, rail and reliance event; the BRE returns explicit predicates and the organization's Workflow Engine determines the disposition.

- Runtime re-evaluation and scoped enforcement: Evidence freshness is evaluated at the moment of reliance, with live or event-driven refresh where required. A material change affects only the dependent subject, activity, product, counterparty, jurisdiction or transaction unless law or policy requires broader blocking.

- Compliance-to-authority execution controls: A final Allow in a Compliance Decision VDT is one input to the ChainIT Authority Protocol—not payment authority. The final protocol must still verify identity, ARP authority, scope, approvals, capacity, the exact transaction digest and a valid single-use execution credential before value moves.

- Controlled disclosure and append-only evidence: Subjects, institutions, payment or technology partners, and regulators receive only the information appropriate to their role, while append-only lifecycle VDTs and Valitorum preserve what evidence was relied upon, what decision was made and what occurred.

"Compliance is not a permanent badge that follows a person, business or AI agent everywhere," said Russell Lessard, Chief Compliance Officer of ChainIT. "Sanctions, AML monitoring, PEP risk, identity assurance, licensing, beneficial ownership and payment-transparency requirements all operate differently. A proposed action may be allowed, allowed with controls, held for review or prohibited depending on the current compliance evidence, jurisdiction and policy. Provable Compliance preserves those distinctions and records the decision while disclosing only what each recipient is authorized to receive."

The framework is intended for financial institutions, payment companies, stablecoin issuers, marketplaces, technology providers and enterprises evaluating activity initiated by people, groups, organizations, organization-controlled workflows and AI agents. It does not replace a regulated institution's AML/CFT, sanctions or other compliance program and does not create a universal legal determination. Instead, it provides an evidence-and-decision layer that can be integrated with existing institutional policies, review processes and execution controls.

GRCC to Celebrate Historic Investiture of President Kathryn A. Rogalski
Image File
Original HTML

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Grand Rapids Community College will celebrate the investiture of Dr. Kathryn A. Rogalski as its 12th president on Friday, Sept. 18, marking a historic moment as Rogalski becomes the first permanent female president in the college's history.

The ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. at Fountain Street Church and will bring together students, employees, community leaders and higher education partners to formally recognize Rogalski's presidency and celebrate GRCC's next chapter. Media are welcome to attend.

"Dr. Rogalski has brought an energy and sense of purpose to GRCC that is grounded in listening, collaboration and a deep commitment to our students," GRCC Board of Trustees Chair Salvador Lopez said. "Her investiture is an opportunity to celebrate not only this historic moment for our college, but also the future we are building together. The Board is excited about her leadership and the opportunities ahead for GRCC and the communities we serve."

Dr. DeRionne Pollard, president and CEO of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) will be a featured speaker. Pollard leads the national organization representing more than 1,000 community colleges and their students across the country.

Guillermo Cisneros, president and CEO of the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will emcee the ceremony.

An investiture is one of higher education's oldest traditions, formally recognizing the authority and responsibilities entrusted to a college or university president. At GRCC, the ceremony also provides an opportunity to celebrate the college's mission, traditions and future.

Rogalski became GRCC's 12th president in 2026, bringing more than 25 years of community college experience and a career centered on expanding opportunity, supporting student success and strengthening connections among colleges, employers and the communities they serve.

Her own journey through higher education has shaped that work.

A first-generation college student from Chicago, Rogalski initially left college after two years. She later returned as a new mother, ultimately earning her bachelor's degree and continuing on to graduate school. She has credited the encouragement of her family and a faculty mentor with helping her see possibilities for herself that she had not previously imagined.

That experience has remained central to her belief in the transformative power of education and the role community colleges play in helping students see what is possible for their own lives.

Since arriving at GRCC, Rogalski has emphasized listening and learning from students, employees and community partners while building on the college's longstanding strengths. Her leadership has focused on expanding access and opportunity, supporting students from enrollment through completion, strengthening workforce and economic development partnerships, and fostering a college community where students and employees feel they belong.

Her investiture represents a milestone in GRCC's more than century-long history. As the college's first permanent female president, Rogalski joins generations of leaders who have shaped GRCC while bringing her own experiences and perspective to the presidency.

The ceremony will reflect the range of partnerships that are central to GRCC's work in West Michigan. Maggie Lancaster, CEO of the Grand Rapids Children's Museum and Steve Downing, president and CEO of Gentex Corporation will offer remarks representing community and employer partners.

GRCC Provost and executive vice president of Academic and Student Affairs Dr. Sheila Jones will participate in the program along with Mike Light, professor of History and president of the GRCC Faculty Association, who will welcome Rogalski on behalf of GRCC faculty. And, GRCC Student Government President Adeline Butts will provide the student welcome.

The GRCC Foundation will present a donation in Rogalski's honor, extending the celebration of her presidency into future support for GRCC students.

The ceremony will include academic traditions connecting Rogalski's presidency with the leaders and scholars who came before her.

Faculty and representatives from colleges and universities will also participate in an academic procession wearing traditional regalia. Rogalski will also receive the GRCC presidential medallion, symbolizing the scholarship, responsibility and authority of the Office of the President.

The medallion is a recreation of the college seal. Its three flames represent education's highest purposes and the pursuit of truth, understanding and beauty. The GRCC mace, traditionally carried at investitures, commencements and academic convocations, will also be part of the ceremony. The mace symbolizes the strength of the institution and its commitment to learning, community and service.

Before joining GRCC, Rogalski served as vice president of Academic Affairs and Workforce Development at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College where she led work focused on academic innovation, workforce alignment and student success.

Earlier in her career, she served as a dean at Harper College and held several roles at the College of Lake County, including associate dean, advisor, adjunct faculty member and research assistant.

Rogalski earned her Doctorate of Education from Northern Illinois University, a Master of Arts from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from Northeastern Illinois University.

Her investiture comes as GRCC continues its longstanding mission of providing accessible, affordable education while responding to the changing needs of students, employers and communities across West Michigan.

For Rogalski, that work is rooted in the same promise she experienced as a student: that education can open doors, change the trajectory of a life and help people imagine opportunities they may not yet see for themselves.

Pulsenmore Expands into Fertility Care: Completes CE European Registration of Home Ultrasound System for Follicular Monitoring
Image File
Original HTML

Completion of the registration process under the European Medical Device Regulation (MDR) marks an important milestone in Pulsenmore's strategy to expand its home ultrasound platform into additional applications across women's health. Having established its activities in prenatal monitoring, the Company is now extending its platform into fertility care, where repeated ultrasound examinations are a central component of treatment management.

According to data from the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), more than 1.15 million assisted reproduction treatment cycles were reported across Europe in 2023. More than half of these involved treatments requiring ovarian stimulation, including IVF, ICSI and fertility preservation, where repeated ultrasound scans are used to monitor follicular development and help guide treatment decisions. This monitoring can require women to make frequent clinic visits, often within a relatively short period of time.

Pulsenmore FC is designed to enable part of this monitoring to take place in the patient's home. The system includes an ultrasound transducer for self-use and a dedicated application, aiming to enable women to perform scans at home with remote guidance from physicians or ultrasound professionals, as part of a care pathway managed by the fertility team. For patients, performing part of the ultrasound monitoring at home can reduce the need for repeated clinic visits and allow them to better maintain their work, family and daily routines during an intensive course of treatment, while performing a private examination in the privacy of their own home. For fertility clinics, shifting part of the monitoring outside the clinic may support more efficient use of clinical staff and examination rooms, reduce workload and free up capacity to care for additional patients.

In a clinical study conducted at Rabin Medical Center among women undergoing IVF or fertility preservation, a high level of agreement was demonstrated between home ultrasound scans and in-clinic ultrasound examinations. High levels of satisfaction were also reported among both patients and clinical staff. The study was published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Medical Internet Research (JMIR), which focuses on digital health.

In Israel, the system has received approval from the Ministry of Health. In January 2026, Pulsenmore signed a commercial agreement with Clalit Health Services to establish a service based on Pulsenmore FC through Clalit NEXT and Beilinson Medical Center. Registration of the system under the European MDR now enables the Company to market and sell Pulsenmore FC across European markets.

Dr. Elazar Sonnenschein, Founder and CEO of Pulsenmore:

"The European registration of our second product represents an important milestone in Pulsenmore's evolution from a single-product company toward a broader home ultrasound platform for women's health. We began with prenatal monitoring and are now expanding our technology into fertility care, where women undergo intensive monitoring and repeated examinations. Our goal is to enable parts of care to move into the patient's home, while the medical team continues to manage the treatment and make the clinical decisions."

The registration provides Pulsenmore with the opportunity to work with fertility centers and healthcare systems across Europe and expands the company's portfolio to two home ultrasound solutions addressing different stages of the women's health journey.

About Pulsenmore

Pulsenmore Ltd. (Nasdaq: PLSM) (TASE: PLSM) is a healthcare technology company developing self-use ultrasound solutions that enable patients to perform clinically guided ultrasound scans from home. The Company's technology is designed to extend ultrasound beyond the traditional clinical setting, supporting new models of care across women's health, including pregnancy monitoring and fertility care.

CITY OF CHICAGO PARTNERS WITH CHICAGO RIVER SWIM TO RE-LAUNCH "THE BIG JUMP," EXPAND FIELD TO 750 SWIMMERS

Chicago River Swim presented by the City of Chicago and Mayor Brandon Johnson returns September 18–20 with Olympians, Paralympians, and international swimmers joining Chicagoans to celebrate the river's transformation

CHICAGO, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Chicago River Swim presented by the City of Chicago and Mayor Brandon Johnson will bring back The Big Jump and expand the 2026 field to 750 qualified swimmers. Registration is now open for both events at ChicagoRiverSwim.org.

The Big Jump will kick off the weekend on Friday, September 18, giving registered members of the public a rare, sanctioned opportunity to enter the river while raising funds for ALS research and youth swim education. Mayor Johnson will serve as master of ceremonies, joined by Olympians and Paralympians from the U.S. and abroad, elected officials and notable Chicagoans including Chicago Bears legend Charles Tillman and Grammy Award-winning producer and DJ White Shadow.

"The Chicago River belongs to all of Chicago, and The Big Jump is a powerful way to celebrate how far our city has come," said Mayor Brandon Johnson. "For generations, Chicagoans have worked to restore this river and reconnect our communities to it. This September, people from across our city and around the world will have the opportunity to experience the river in a whole new way, while supporting ALS research and making sure more young people have access to lifesaving swim and water-safety education."

The Big Jump revives an event first held in 2017, when Cook County Commissioner Josina Morita and Friends of the Chicago River brought public officials together in Chinatown for a sanctioned jump into the river. The event celebrated progress in restoring the river and demonstrated a shared commitment to making the Chicago-Calumet River system safely swimmable and accessible to all.

The Chicago River Swim presented by the City of Chicago and Mayor Brandon Johnson is a charitable open-water event held along the main stem of the Chicago River. Launched in 2025, the inaugural event brought 263 swimmers into the river for Chicago's first organized open-water swim in 98 years and attracted international attention to the city's transformed waterway.

"Last year proved that swimming could return to the Chicago River and become something meaningful for the entire city," said Doug McConnell, founder of A Long Swim and the Chicago River Swim. "This year, we are creating more ways for people to be part of that experience, from opening The Big Jump to the public to welcoming more swimmers. Every participant will help us raise critical funds for ALS research and bring lifesaving swim education to more Chicago children."

This year's Chicago River Swim will take place Sunday, September 20. The City of Chicago has expanded the field from 500 to 750 qualified swimmers, reopening registration for a limited number of participants in the one- and two-mile events.

The expanded weekend reflects decades of investment, advocacy, research and collaboration that have improved water quality and transformed the Chicago River into one of the city's most important recreational and civic assets. That progress has been advanced by the City of Chicago, the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, Friends of the Chicago River, Current, Shedd Aquarium, the Chicago Park District and many other public, nonprofit and community partners. Water quality will be closely monitored leading up to and throughout the weekend, including testing conducted by water-quality experts at the University of Illinois Chicago.

HOW TO JOIN THE BIG JUMP

A limited number of spots will be available to the public for The Big Jump. The cost to participate is $500 per jumper, with proceeds supporting ALS research and youth swim education. Participants who raise $1,000 or more may bring one guest to the event; guests will not participate in the jump.

Participants will enter the river in small groups throughout the morning. Each registered jumper will receive a personal swim buoy, robe, commemorative T-shirt, lunch, and a goodie bag. Registration is available at chicagoriverswim.org.

HOW TO JOIN THE CHICAGO RIVER SWIM

The Swim is open to qualified swimmers participating in either the one- or two-mile event. With the field expanded to 750 swimmers, a limited number of additional spots are now available. Qualified swimmers interested in participating can review the requirements and apply at chicagoriverswim.org.

INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION

Olympians, Paralympians and other accomplished swimmers from Chicago, across the United States and around the world will come together for Swim Weekend. Their participation reflects a shared commitment to the lifesaving importance of learning to swim and global solidarity around protecting, restoring and reconnecting people with rivers and urban waterways.

U.S. Olympic silver medalist Maritza Correia McClendon will participate in both events on behalf of the USA Swimming Foundation. The first Black American woman to make a U.S. Olympic swim team, she will highlight the Foundation's partnership with the Chicago River Swim and their shared commitment to expanding access to lifesaving swim lessons and water-safety education.

"The Chicago River Swim is more than an unforgettable experience through one of our nation's most iconic waterways; it's an opportunity to create lasting impact," said Correia McClendon. "I'm proud to support its partnership with the USA Swimming Foundation, helping more children and families across Chicago gain lifesaving skills that can last a lifetime."

Three-time U.S. Olympian and Olympic gold medalist Blake Pieroni will compete in Sunday's one-mile Swim. A native of Chesterton, Indiana, Pieroni won Olympic gold as a member of both the 2016 and 2020 U.S. 4x100-meter freestyle relay teams.

Dutch Olympic gold medalist Maarten van der Weijden will travel from the Netherlands to represent his country and will participate in The Big Jump on Friday. A leukemia survivor who won Olympic gold in open-water swimming, he has since used extraordinary endurance swims to raise millions for cancer research. Swim founder Doug McConnell was inspired by Amsterdam's relationship with its waterways and the success of the Amsterdam City Swim, which demonstrated how an urban waterway could become the centerpiece of a world-class community event. McConnell often credits that inspiration as part of his vision for bringing a river swim to Chicago.

Mexican Olympic swimmer Jorge Andrés Iga César will represent Mexico in The Big Jump on Friday. Iga César competed at the 2024 Paris Games and holds Mexico's national record in the 200-meter freestyle. He has earned four Pan American Games medals, including silver, and 19 medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games.

Two-time U.S. Paralympian and Tokyo silver medalist Ahalya Lettenberger will participate in The Big Jump and will compete in the one-mile Swim. Born in Chicago, Lettenberger began swimming at age 11 and went on to represent the United States at the Tokyo and Paris Paralympic Games.

Paralympic silver medalist Grace Nuhfer will participate in The Big Jump on Friday. The Indiana native won silver at the 2024 Paris Games in the S13 100-meter butterfly before becoming world champion in the event in 2025. She also earned two World Championships bronze medals in freestyle.

Current ice-swimming world champion Max Munson will participate in The Big Jump on Friday and compete in the one-mile Swim. Munson will join the weekend from Prague, Czech Republic. An accomplished pool, open-water and winter swimmer, he is the reigning age-group ice-swimming world champion in the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle and has set multiple Czech freestyle records.

The weekend will also welcome international civic leadership, including Lord Mayor of Dublin Daryl Barron, who will travel to Chicago to participate in Chicago River Swim weekend. Elected officials, celebrities, civic leaders and other special guests will also participate, with additional names to be announced.

"Dublin and Chicago have a strong historical and cultural connection, and I am delighted to be in Chicago to experience the Chicago River Swim," said Lord Mayor of Dublin Daryl Barron. "In Dublin, our annual Dublin City Liffey Swim brings approximately 300 swimmers through the heart of the city in a unique challenge. Rivers are an important part of the life of a city, and both Chicago and Dublin are leading the way in showcasing them as important civic assets to be used and enjoyed by the people of our cities. I look forward to experiencing the Chicago River Swim and bringing some learnings back to Dublin."

ABC7 CHICAGO LIVESTREAM

ABC7 Chicago will stream the Swim live on Sunday, September 20, from 6:30 to 10:00 a.m. Hosted by Greg Dutra and Jasmine Minor, the broadcast will showcase swimmers participating in one- and two-mile events along the main stem of the Chicago River and feature interviews with athletes, civic leaders and other special guests throughout the morning. Audiences can watch on ABC7Chicago.com, Disney+ under the Live tab by selecting ABC7 Chicago, and ABC7's Connected TV apps on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV and Roku.

SWIMMING FOR A PURPOSE

Chicago River Swim weekend raises funds for ALS research through A Long Swim and supports swim instruction and water safety education for children in underserved Chicago communities. McConnell founded A Long Swim after losing his father and sister to ALS. The organization has since raised more than $3.5 million to advance collaborative ALS research.

The weekend will also create a powerful moment for the ALS community. Through ALS United, A Long Swim connected with Jeff Birkels, who is living with ALS.
