Maryland-born brand unifies first-party & third-party ordering, dispatch, and loyalty on Deliverect and Thanx as it modernizes its digital tech stack

SILVER SPRING, Md., Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Big Greek Café, the Maryland-based brand known for its authentic, casual Greek dining rooted in family and community values, announced today a partnership with Deliverect and Thanx to modernize its digital ordering and loyalty operations across its U.S. locations.

Going live on the integrated Deliverect and Thanx stack, The Big Greek Café gains a unified system where loyalty, digital ordering, and fulfillment are fully integrated. The combined platform is designed to address the operational challenges in menu management and platform reliability the brand faced as it scales nationwide, while allowing it to fold its loyalty program directly into the ordering experience rather than keep it siloed.

"Our guests know us for hospitality, and our digital ordering needs to hold up to that same standard," said Niko Kontos, Chief Operating Officer of The Big Greek Café. "We were spending too much time fixing menus and working around problems instead of taking care of guests. Deliverect and Thanx give us a digital ordering platform we can rely on and a loyalty program that is part of the experience, so a first visit turns into a second and a third."

One Integrated Stack for Ordering and Loyalty

Together, Deliverect and Thanx deliver first-party ordering at enterprise scale, on more than 550 POS systems. Ordering and fulfillment are built to work across every location, and the guest experience is designed to turn those orders into repeat visits.

The Deliverect Commerce API powers ordering on the brand's own mobile app and website. It handles the complexity that comes with scale. It manages menu, checkout, and payments across locations with different hours, pricing, and fulfillment setups, and supports the menu structure operationally complex brands require: nested modifiers, size-based pricing, dayparted and day-of-week menus, and different pricing for pickup versus delivery. When a location gets busy, prep times automatically adjust rather than forcing the team to turn off ordering.

Deliverect Dispatch gives The Big Greek Café delivery on its own app and website without running a fleet. Each order is routed to a courier automatically based on the brand's configuration, so the brand offers delivery on its own channels without negotiating courier contracts market by market or handling marketplace invoicing.

Thanx powers the guest experience and loyalty. The mobile app and branded web ordering run on Thanx, with loyalty built into checkout rather than a separate sign-up, so guests are recognized from their first order and the brand builds real purchase history on every order. Automated campaigns use that history to turn first-time guests into regulars, and targeted rewards replace blanket discounts so the brand grows frequency without giving away margin.

Deliverect's Third-Party Order Aggregation & Menu Management allows restaurants to run one menu across every channel they sell through. A price change, a new LTO, or an 86'd item is updated once and reflected everywhere, including marketplaces, where orders flow straight into the POS. Dynamic pricing and automated menu scheduling let the brand easily configure pricing and availability by channel and daypart.

Full Network Roll-Out Launching Soon

The Big Greek Café will be launching Deliverect and Thanx's full digital ordering stack across its entire U.S. network.

"The Big Greek Café has built something special, a brand customers genuinely love. Our job is to ensure the technology powering their digital ordering experience is just as reliable and easy to love, so every order and loyalty interaction runs seamlessly. We're thrilled to partner with The Big Greek Café and Thanx to power what comes next," said Noah Hayes, VP Sales at Deliverect.

As The Big Greek Café prepares for a full network roll-out, the partnership brings together two companies with a shared focus: turning one-time orders into long-term guest relationships.

"The Big Greek Café has spent more than 15 years earning repeat visits the hard way, one guest at a time," said Zach Goldstein, Founder and CEO of Thanx. "Our job is to make that easier to do at scale. When loyalty is built into the ordering experience instead of bolted onto it, more guests join, more of them come back, and the brand doesn't have to buy that frequency with discounts."

About The Big Greek Café

Founded in 2009 by twin brothers Nikos and Simos Marmaras, The Big Greek Café was created to honor the dream of their late mother, Koralia, who believed that relationships, family, and community are built around sharing delicious meals. Serving fast-casual, traditionally inspired Greek cuisine made with the best ingredients sourced at reasonable prices, the café specializes in authentic comfort food passed down through generations—from signature gyros and souvlaki to homemade pastichio and seasoned feta fries. With a dedication to vibrant hospitality, quality, and community support, The Big Greek Café brings people together in a fun, friendly environment across its expanding footprint in Maryland and Virginia. Platforma stratosferyczna Sceye zakończyła rekordowy lot z USA do Japonii
Image File
Original HTML

W ramach misji ST1 firmy Sceye pokonała niemal 30 000 km, by 4 września 2026 r. ponownie znaleźć się nad kontynentalną częścią Stanów Zjednoczonych. 5 września 2026 r. ST1 dotarła do przestrzeni powietrznej w pobliżu siedziby Sceye w Moriarty w Nowym Meksyku, gdzie przeprowadzono dodatkowe testy platformy, a następnie zaplanowaną procedurę zakończenia lotu i zniżania.

„Określenia »przełomowy« i »historyczny« to dopiero początek, gdy mówimy o locie ST1 - mówi Mikkel Vestergaard Frandsen, założyciel i dyrektor generalny Sceye. - Misja potwierdziła nie tylko gotowość naszej technologii, systemów platformy, ładunku użytecznego i infrastruktury operacyjnej do świadczenia usług łączności, lecz także to, że stratosfera będzie podstawą przyszłej infrastruktury nienaziemnej. To właśnie stratosfera umożliwi w przyszłości stałą, nieprzerwaną łączność, w tym rozwój 6G. Ziemia, stratosfera i przestrzeń kosmiczna - każda wykorzystywana tam, gdzie ma największe atuty - wspólnie zmienią kierunek rozwoju ludzkości".

Misja ST1, przeprowadzona we współpracy z SoftBank Corp.

W ramach zakończonej powodzeniem misji ST1 firmy Sceye:

- pokonano niemal 30 000 km z Nowego Meksyku do Japonii i z powrotem w ciągu miesiąca;

- platforma działała przez ponad 7 dni w przestrzeni powietrznej zarządzanej przez Japonię;

- przez dłuższy czas pozostawała w wyznaczonym obszarze u wybrzeży Japonii, z promieniem utrzymania pozycji sięgającym zaledwie 5 km;

- pracowała na wysokości od 16,5 do 17 km podczas testów telekomunikacyjnych, komunikacji z dronami i łączności alarmowej;

- zaprezentowano szerokopasmową łączność mobilną ze stratosfery, obejmującą wiadomości tekstowe, połączenia głosowe, dostęp do internetu i streaming wideo;

- przetestowano połączenia alarmowe z wykorzystaniem systemu powiadamiania kryzysowego przeznaczonego na wypadek katastrof na dużą skalę, a także komunikację z dronami;

- potwierdzono jakość łączności porównywalną z sieciami naziemnymi przy jednoczesnym ograniczeniu zakłóceń radiowych wobec naziemnych stacji bazowych;

- zainstalowano serwer na HAPS i przetwarzano dane bezpośrednio na platformie. Sceye i SoftBank uzyskały średni czas odpowiedzi w obie strony wynoszący 68 ms, ograniczając opóźnienia komunikacyjne o ponad 40% względem przetwarzania w chmurze internetowej.

ST1 to pierwsza misja w programie Service Test firmy Sceye.

Sceye

JIM BEAM® TEAMS UP WITH BEN MARSHALL AND KAI FORBATH TO LAUNCH "HIT THE BEAM" CAMPAIGN, RALLYING FOOTBALL FANS TO CELEBRATE EVERY "DOINK"
Image File
Original HTML

Together, they're turning one of football's most terrifying sounds, the "doink," into a reason to celebrate. When a field goal attempt strikes the goalpost, better known as the "beam," fans will have a chance to win big prizes. Jim Beam, the bourbon best enjoyed together, is turning the miss into a moment everyone can get behind, giving rival fandom something they can all cheer for.

Debuting today ahead of the NFL season kickoff game, the campaign spot puts Marshall on the sidelines as Forbath's highly unqualified coach, tasked with undoing nearly a decade of professional kicking experience. Forbath must forget everything he learned about putting the ball between the uprights and aiming directly for one instead.

"I've watched enough football to know that a doink usually results in a lot of yelling, just not the good kind," said Ben Marshall. "Jim Beam is changing that. Now, when a ball hits the beam, there's something to celebrate together and that's what Jim Beam is all about: bringing people together to best enjoy the moment. My job was just to teach a professional kicker how to miss correctly, which I was obviously extremely qualified to do."

"I spent my entire career trying to put the ball between the beams, so being told to aim for one was definitely a first," said Kai Forbath. "It turns out hitting the goalpost on purpose is a lot harder than it looks. But if a doink means fans can win and celebrate together, I guess there really is such a thing as a good miss."

Unlike Marshall's coaching credentials, the prizes are very real.

"At Jim Beam, we've always believed the best moments are the ones shared with others," said Regan Clarke, VP of American Whiskey, Suntory Global Spirits. "For generations, Jim Beam has been about expanding the table and bringing newcomers into the family, and our campaign "Hit the Beam" carries that spirit into game day. When the ball finds the beam, it doesn't matter which jersey you're wearing, we can all raise a Jim Beam and Lemonade together."

Throughout the season, every doink will give fans a chance to win an 85-inch TV, with up to five TVs awarded each week. Winners will be selected at random each week based on the number of doinks that occur. If no kicks hit the beam, eligible entries will roll over to the following week. Fans can enter at Hitthebeam.com beginning September 9, with non-winning entries remaining eligible for subsequent weekly drawings throughout the sweepstakes period. Must be 21+ to enter. See link for the full official rules.

The campaign will roll out across CTV, digital and social platforms including Meta, TikTok, Reddit, and YouTube throughout the regular season, bringing "Hit The Beam" to fans wherever they're watching the game.

As an official partner of the Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs, Jim Beam will bring the campaign to game day with special limited-edition bottles celebrating each franchise, available at select local retailers. The activation builds on Jim Beam's long-standing tradition of bringing fans together through America's most iconic sports, from motorsports - including NASCAR and its role as the exclusive spirits sponsor of the Cadillac Formula 1 Team ® - to football and beyond. Lumber treater and building products distributor joins Lowe's for panel discussions and brings its enhanced solutions to more than 7,000 Latino industry leaders

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- ProWood®, a building products distributor and leading manufacturer and treater of premium pressure-treated lumber, will join Lowe's for two panel discussions and bring its decking, framing, and outdoor living lineup to Booth 413 in the National Hispanic Construction Alliance (NHCA) Construction Village at AVANCE Global 2026, Sept. 14–16, at the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

The three-day event will draw more than 7,000 business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, executives, athletes, and cultural innovators for programming focused on Latino business, leadership, and economic opportunity.

Both panel discussions featuring ProWood and Lowe's take place Monday, Sept. 14:

- Nuestras Manos: Building the Workforce That Builds America: A conversation with Lowe's, ProWood, and national partners on strengthening talent pipelines, training, and career pathways for skilled trades workers within the Hispanic community.

- The Construction Supply Chain: Connecting Contractors to Materials, Pricing & Scale: How contractors plug into the materials supply chain, working with ProWood, Lowe's, and group purchasing to unlock procurement leverage and better pricing at scale.

"AVANCE gives us the chance to meet directly with the Hispanic contractors, builders, and developers who are playing an important role in shaping the future of construction," said Darren Bennett, ProWood's vice president of sales and marketing and a member of the NHCA Corporate Advisory Council. "We're excited to showcase our products, strengthen relationships across the industry, and support NHCA's work creating new opportunities for Hispanic construction professionals."

Decking and outdoor living products manufactured by or distributed by ProWood on display include:

- ProWood TrueFrame™ Joist, the brand's enhanced treated lumber solution for deck framing. Made from #1 grade Southern Yellow Pine and kiln-dried after treatment with a proprietary next-generation stabilizer additive, it is factory-planed for consistent sizing and flat edges, treated to UC4A ground contact standards, and backed by ProWood's Limited Lifetime Warranty.

- Deckorators® composite decking, including Surestone® technology products. Built with a mineral-based core containing no wood fiber, Surestone boards absorb virtually no moisture, resist warping and staining, and deliver the best strength-to-weight ratio of any composite deck board in the industry.

The ProWood team will also have information available on EDGE trim and siding, including the new Arris™ exterior trim, which pairs Surestone technology with minimal thermal movement to keep mitered joints tight through seasonal temperature swings.

ProWood's participation in AVANCE builds on its existing partnership with NHCA. Announced in early 2026, this partnership supports career pathways for Hispanic builders and trade workers.

For more information and the full agenda for NHCA at AVANCE Global 2026, visit NHCA at AVANCE.

ProWood will extend its outreach to the Hispanic construction community at the Latino Builders Show, Sept. 24, at the Baltimore Convention Center. 25 Years After 9/11, Lessons from Historic Ground Zero Dialogue Shape Trauma-Informed Leadership Today

Kansas City facilitator who helped guide public input on rebuilding the World Trade Center site reflects on the power of listening, meaning and being heard

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Twenty-five years after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Kansas City-area facilitator and Remarkably Resilient CEO and co-founder Kathleen Harnish McKune is reflecting on an extraordinary experience that helped shape the rebuilding of Ground Zero – and the lessons it still holds for leaders navigating trauma, conflict and change today.

In July 2002, McKune was among more than 500 professional facilitators who volunteered to travel to New York City for Listening to the City, an historic public dialogue about the future of the World Trade Center site and Lower Manhattan.

More than 5,000 people ultimately participated in the Listening to the City process, including approximately 4,300 who gathered at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on July 20 to consider six preliminary redevelopment plans and share what mattered most as New York sought to rebuild following the attacks. At the time, it was one of the largest public meetings of its kind.

A new documentary, 9/11: Reclaiming Ground Zero, released Sept. 1 ahead of the 25th anniversary of 9/11, revisits that historic public process and how citizens helped influence what ultimately would rise at Ground Zero. (Watch the trailer) | (Watch the documentary)

For McKune, the film's release has brought renewed attention to an experience she describes as the most meaningful facilitation work of her 35-year career.

"I knew our country was experiencing an extraordinary time of grief, need and rebuilding, and I felt deeply called to step up," McKune said. "I was honored and humbled to be selected."

McKune paid her own way to New York and arrived expecting to facilitate a table discussion. That morning, organizers asked if she would work through a translator with 10 Mandarin-speaking Chinese Americans whose homes and businesses had been significantly affected by debris from the attacks.

She agreed.

Over the course of the day, McKune listened, asked questions and helped capture the group's perspectives through what was then innovative technology designed to collect feedback from hundreds of tables in real time.

"The emotions, personal stories, grief and pain were present at every table," McKune said. "But as people listened to one another, there was also hope and possibility. My role was to listen intently, ask gentle probing questions and make sure the voices at my table became part of the larger conversation."

That larger conversation had an impact.

Participants rejected the six preliminary redevelopment concepts presented to them, with concerns that the proposals placed too much emphasis on restoring the area's commercial activity and not enough on remembrance and the significance of what had happened there. The response helped send planners back to the drawing board.

"What has stayed with me for all these years is the message that meaning matters," McKune said. "People needed the rebuilding to honor the lives lost and the lives forever changed. They also needed to know that their voices had been heard."

Today, the same foundational facilitation skills – listening without judgment, creating space for reflection, asking thoughtful questions and ensuring people have a voice – are incorporated into the trauma-informed leadership and resilience work McKune leads through Remarkably Resilient, Inc.

The national nonprofit helps individuals and organizations better understand trauma, its effects on the brain and body, and practical skills that can support resilience, emotional regulation, reflection and recovery.

McKune said the experience at Listening to the City demonstrated something that remains relevant for leaders and communities confronting difficult circumstances today: moving forward does not require ignoring pain or disagreement.

"The power of reflection in processing trauma and moving toward healing is something we understand and incorporate in the work we do today," McKune said. "Sometimes moving forward begins with something very basic but very powerful – giving people a safe place to speak, listening deeply and letting them know their experience matters."

For McKune, the connection came full circle when she visited the National September 11 Memorial & Museum while in New York for her documentary interview.

Standing beside the memorial pools more than two decades after Listening to the City, she thought about the message that emerged so clearly from the 2002 dialogue.

"Standing there, I could see that meaning and memory had become central to what was ultimately created," McKune said. "It was incredibly emotional to realize that, in one very small way, I had been part of a process that helped people be heard."
