LOS ANGELES, Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- John Moran Auctioneers is honored to present The Estate of Abbe Lane, a remarkable collection celebrating the life, career, and unmistakable style of one of mid-century entertainment's most magnetic personalities. The collection will be offered in two parts. The first, taking place Wednesday, December 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. PST, features fine jewelry, watches, and luxury items, including pieces by Harry Winston, David Webb, Cartier, and Oscar Heyman; watches by Audemars Piguet, Baume & Mercier, and Franck Muller; designer accessories by Chanel, Gucci, Bottega Veneta, and Judith Leiber; and gowns worn by Lane throughout her life and career. A second offering in California Living: Featuring The Estate of Abbe Lane, February 23, 2027, will showcase design, fine art, furniture, decorative arts, lighting, and additional jewelry and luxury items from her Los Angeles home.

Abbe Lane embodied mid-century glamour, with a career spanning Broadway, Italian cinema, television, recording studios, and some of the world's most celebrated nightclubs. Born Abigail Francine Lassman (1931-2026) in Brooklyn and raised in Manhattan, she began performing on Broadway as a teenager before joining Xavier Cugat's orchestra in the late 1940s. As its featured vocalist, she toured internationally and married Cugat in 1952. Beginning in 1955, Lane became a star in her own right in Italy, where her film and television appearances made her one of the country's most glamorous and celebrated performers. She later starred opposite Tony Randall in the 1958 Broadway production of Oh, Captain!, appeared in Hollywood films alongside actors including Glenn Ford and Audie Murphy, recorded for RCA Victor and Mercury, and performed with Tito Puente. A frequent television guest, Lane appeared on programs hosted by Steve Allen, Dean Martin, Johnny Carson, and others. In 1960, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to television.

Lane's bold, sophisticated style was central to her public persona. Her jewelry, designer clothing, and luxury accessories reflect the confidence and sensuality that made her an international sensation, offering a glimpse into the personal world of a performer who helped define an era. Following her marriage to Cugat, Lane married Perry Leff in 1964. They shared more than 55 years together and raised their two sons, Steven and Andrew, in Los Angeles. Lane later added novelist to her accomplishments with the publication of But Where Is Love? in 1992. She died in Los Angeles on April 25, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that bridged music, film, television, and fashion.

John Moran Auctioneers is grateful to the Leff family for entrusting them with this exceptional collection and the opportunity to share Abbe Lane's story with a new generation of collectors. Together, the two sales celebrate both her remarkable career and the distinctive personal style that defined her life.

JELD-WEN Announces Commencement of Exchange Offer and Consent Solicitation for Outstanding 4.875% Senior Notes due 2027
Image File
Original HTML

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- JELD-WEN Holding, Inc. (NYSE: JELD) ("JELD-WEN" or the "Company") today announced that JELD-WEN, Inc. (the "Issuer") commenced an offer to (x) all Eligible Holders (as defined herein) of the Issuer's outstanding 4.875% Senior Notes due 2027 (the "Old Notes") to exchange (the "Exchange Offer") any and all of the Old Notes for new first lien senior secured notes due 2031 (the "New Notes") and (y) participants in the Exchange Offer (the "Exchange Offer Participants") to elect to purchase their applicable Pro Rata Portion (as defined herein) of up to $410.2 million in aggregate principal amount of the New Notes (the "New Money Offer" and, such participants in the New Money Offer, the "New Money Participants" and, in the case of any Eligible Holder that is not a New Money Participant, the "Non-New Money Participants"), in each case, as further described below. Capitalized terms used herein but not defined herein have the meanings assigned in the confidential offering memorandum and consent solicitation statement, dated October 28, 2026 (the "Offering Memorandum").

The following table sets forth the applicable Early Exchange Consideration (as defined herein) and Late Exchange Consideration (as defined herein) to be offered to Eligible Holders of the Old Notes in the Exchange Offer:

In addition, the Issuer is soliciting consents ("Consents") from Eligible Holders of the Old Notes to adopt certain proposed amendments (the "Proposed Amendments") to that certain indenture, dated as of December 14, 2017 (as amended, supplemented or otherwise modified from time to time, the "Old Notes Indenture"), governing the Old Notes, to eliminate substantially all of the restrictive covenants and certain of the default and events of default provisions, modify covenants regarding mergers and consolidations, and modify or eliminate certain other provisions set forth therein, including certain provisions relating to defeasance and future guarantors (the "Consent Solicitation"), upon the terms and subject to the conditions set forth in the Offering Memorandum.

Certain holders party to the Commitment Letter representing (i) approximately 94.5% of the aggregate principal amount of Old Notes have already agreed to tender their respective Old Notes by the Early Exchange Time of the Exchange Offer and provide their consent to the Proposed Amendments in the Consent Solicitation and (ii) approximately 70.0% of the aggregate principal amount of Old Notes have committed (such commitment, the "Backstop Commitment") to purchase their respective agreed percentage of up to $410.2 million of New Notes, at a price equal to $1,000 per $1,000 in principal amount of such New Notes, by the Backstop Funding Date, including to the extent such amount is not subscribed for and funded by the Eligible Holders in the New Money Offer, including as a result of failures to fund by any Eligible Holder who fails to deliver all of the Purchase Price (as defined herein) to the Exchange Agent (as defined herein) by the Funding Date. The size of the issuance of the New Notes pursuant to the New Money Offer will be reduced on a dollar-for-dollar basis to the extent that any lender holding Existing Term Loans does not elect to have such loans purchased in the Loans Dutch Auction (as defined herein).

Concurrently with the Exchange Offer and the Consent Solicitation, and pursuant to the Commitment Letter, the Issuer commenced a Dutch auction (the "Loans Dutch Auction") offering each lender holding Existing Term Loans the opportunity to have its Existing Term Loans purchased at a price of (A) 86.00% of the principal amount of such Existing Term Loans in cash (the "Existing Term Loan Purchase"), (B) 100.00% of the principal amount of such Existing Term Loans in New Notes or (C) solely if the Issuer elects in its sole discretion, 100.00% of the principal amount of such Existing Term Loans in new first lien term loans due 2031. Existing Lenders representing approximately 72.2% of the aggregate principal amount of the Existing Term Loans are party to the Commitment Letter and have agreed to participate in the Loans Dutch Auction and to consent to an amendment to the Existing Credit Agreement that would, among other things, (A) permit the transactions contemplated by the Commitment Letter, (B) eliminate substantially all of the restrictive covenants and certain events of default contained in the credit agreement governing the Existing Term Loans and (C) provide for the subordination (in right of payment and lien priority) of the Existing Term Loans to the New Notes.

The Exchange Offer and the Consent Solicitation will expire at 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on November 27, 2026, unless extended or terminated earlier (the "Expiration Time"). Subject to the tender acceptance procedures described in the Offering Memorandum, Eligible Holders who validly tender Old Notes by 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on November 10, 2026, unless extended (the "Early Exchange Time"), will receive from the Issuer (i) for each $1,000 principal amount of Old Notes validly tendered (and not validly withdrawn) at or prior to the Early Exchange Time and accepted for exchange, the applicable early exchange consideration set forth in the table above (the "Early Exchange Consideration") and (ii) for each $1,000 principal amount of Old Notes validly tendered (and not validly withdrawn) after the Early Exchange Time and at or prior to the Expiration Time and accepted for exchange, the late exchange consideration set forth in the table above (the "Late Exchange Consideration"). No consideration will be paid for Consents in the Consent Solicitation. Tenders of Old Notes may be withdrawn and Consents may be revoked prior to the Withdrawal Deadline, but not thereafter, subject to applicable law (or in the case of input error, with respect to the New Money Subscription Form, subject to review and approval by the Issuer and its counsel, and/or at the Issuer's sole discretion), unless such Withdrawal Deadline is extended by the Issuer at its sole discretion.

In order to receive the New Notes in connection with the New Money Offer, each participating Eligible Holder (other than a Backstop Party) (the "Non-Backstop New Money Participant") is obligated to pay the full purchase price (the "Purchase Price") related to its Pro Rata Portion of up to $410.2 million in aggregate principal amount of New Notes (the "New Money Notes Issuance"), calculated in accordance with the payment worksheet (the "Payment Worksheet") included in the New Money Subscription Form attached to the Offering Memorandum and available on the website managed by the Exchange Agent and accessible via this link (https://deals.is.kroll.com/JeldWen), by wire transfer of immediately available funds to the Exchange Agent in accordance with the instructions included in the Payment Worksheet by 5:00 p.m., New York City time, on November 10, 2026, unless extended (such date, the "Funding Date"). "Pro Rata Portion" means, for any Exchange Offer Participant, (i)(x) the aggregate dollar amount of Old Notes tendered for exchange by such Exchange Offer Participant divided by (y) $400.0 million multiplied by (ii) $410.2 million (calculated in the Payment Worksheet as 1.025415 per dollar of principal amount tendered, rounded down to the nearest whole dollar, for each block of Old Notes tendered). Each New Money Participant is entitled to subscribe for its Pro Rata Portion of the New Money Offer but not an amount less than its Pro Rata Portion of the New Money Offer. For the avoidance of doubt, no Eligible Holder can elect to participate in the New Money Offer without participating in full in the Exchange Offer. Each participating Eligible Holder must tender all of the Old Notes it holds. Partial tenders of Old Notes will not be accepted.

The Non-Backstop New Money Participants may not receive the full Pro Rata Portion of the New Notes that such Non-Backstop New Money Participants elected to purchase to the extent less than the total Existing Term Loan Purchase option is elected in the Loans Dutch Auction. In such case, such Non-Backstop New Money Participants will receive a refund equal to the shortfall of the applicable amount of the Pro Rata Portion.

As described in the Offering Memorandum, each Backstop Party is obligated to fund First Lien Notes as part of the New Money Offer, including the Shortfall, by the Backstop Funding Date communicated in the Backstop Funding Notice at least four (4) business days prior to the Backstop Funding Date.

Any Eligible Holder (other than a Backstop-New Money Participant) who either (i) does not subscribe for all of its Pro Rata Portion of the New Money Offer or (ii) does not fund such portion by the Funding Date (or, with respect to a Backstop Party, by the Backstop Funding Date) will only be entitled to receive $930 in principal amount of New Notes per $1,000 in principal amount of Old Notes validly tendered (and not validly withdrawn) at or prior to the Early Exchange Time in the Exchange Offer.

The New Notes will bear interest at the Issuer's election at its sole discretion, either (i) at a rate of 10.500% per annum payable solely in cash, or (ii) at an aggregate rate of 11.500% per annum, of which, at the Issuer's election at its sole discretion, (x) no less than 9.000% per annum shall be payable in cash and (y) up to 2.500% per annum shall be payable by increasing the outstanding principal amount of one or more outstanding notes representing the New Notes. Interest on the New Notes will be payable semi-annually in arrears.

Eligible Holders may not tender their Old Notes pursuant to the Exchange Offer without delivering a Consent with respect to the Old Notes tendered pursuant to the Consent Solicitation, and Eligible Holders may not deliver a Consent pursuant to the Consent Solicitation without tendering the Old Notes pursuant to the Exchange Offer.

Tuley’s Takes: NFL Week 8
Image File
Original HTML

Tuley’s Takes – NFL Week 8:

This is one of the busiest weeks of the year in the Tuley’s Takes home office, with our regular NFL and CFB columns on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, plus our annual horse racing columns on the two-day Breeders’ Cup Friday and Saturday.

And longtime readers know our plate is also full, as Halloween is a big deal at the Tuley Haunted Mansion, with annual traditions like decorations, pumpkin patches, haunted houses/mazes (Moapa Haunted Corn Maze was Tuesday night), parties, trick-or-treating, etc. Don’t get me started on how busy I used to be when the World Series of Poker held its “November Nine” Main Event final table that same week, but thankfully I’m not juggling that at this time of year anymore.

Anyway, all of this monthly madness hasn’t hurt our handicapping as we went 3-2 ATS again with our NFL Best Bets here in Week 7 (and 3-1 ATS in CFB Week 8) to sit right around 60% for the season at 22-15-3 ATS (technically 59.5%) after a slow start.

In Week 7, we won with the Giants +10.5 in their 27-21 OT win at the Texans, Colts +6.5 in their 16-10 loss at the Vikings, and Packers +3.5 in their 20-17 loss at the Lions, with losses on the Saints +3.5 in their 16-10 loss to the Steelers in Paris and Eagles +4.5 in their 38-21 home loss to the Cowboys on Monday Night Football.

Even though our 3-2 ATS mark wasn’t as good as in other recent weeks, we felt just as good about it, as favorites led 8-6 ATS in Week 8, so we outperformed the market and found the right plays with our “dog or pass” approach. On the season, my ViewFromVegas Consensus Closing Lines (tracked on Twitter/X at @ViewFromVegas) have dogs leading 54-45-6 ATS (54.5%), so we’re also beating dogs in general by being selective.

As for our Tuley’s Teaser Portfolio, we had another winning week as our recommended plays (all advantage teasers including the key numbers of 3 and 7, aka “Wong Teasers” for the old-timers) went 3-1 with the Patriots +9, Buccaneers +9, and Titans +8 all winning their legs but unfortunately lost our anchor play on Sunday night with the Chiefs +9. As I wrote the last two weeks: Because of this success, we’ll keep pointing out our teaser plays, though we always stress to not only shop around for the best lines to tease (through the key numbers of 3 and 7) but also the lowest juice.

Enough looking back (except to learn from our mistakes), let’s get to my “takes” on the full NFL Week 8 schedule, which again has just 14 games this weekend with the Giants, 49ers, Texans and Saints having their bye week. For the uninitiated here at Tuley’s Takes, I give my “take” on each game from my “dog or pass” point of view, trying to determine if the underdog is getting enough points to make them a play – or if I recommend passing on the game. I’ll also give my patent-pending Tuley’s Pool Play Percentages for those in contests where you have to pick every game (or just as another helpful handicapping point).

Carolina at Green Bay (-3.5)

Before the season, this didn’t look like an attractive Thursday Night Football matchup, but the Panthers are in first place in the NFC South (albeit with a 3-3 record while the Packers are still in the Wild Card hunt at 4-3. The advance line for this game was Packers -3.5 and reopened at -4.5 on Sunday afternoon after the Panthers were blown out 43-13 by the Buccaneers and the Packers lost 20-17 at Detroit. However, the line has since been bet back down to 3.5, and I feel the money is on the right side. I like betting teams off a blowout loss as they’re obviously embarrassed and will make necessary adjustments on both sides of the ball. In addition, the Panthers have covered the last 13 times after an outright loss, so they’re used to bouncing back. It should be noted that primetime favorites went 3-0 ATS this past weekend after an underdog run of 12-0 ATS the prior four weeks, but hopefully the primetime dogs are barking again in Week 8.

Best Bet: Panthers +3.5 (Pool Play Percentages: Panthers 67/33 in ATS contests, but Packers still 67/33 in SU pools; note: as I’ve written several times the last few weeks, these percentages basically meant that if these two teams were to play three times, the dog would win once and the fave would win twice but only cover once, hence the 67/33 splits).

Minnesota at Detroit (-3.5)

Moving to Sunday (and no early international games, hurray!), the advance line for this NFC North matchup was Lions -2.5 -120. After the Vikings beat the Colts 16-10 as 6.5-point favorites and the Lions beat the Packers 20-17 as 3.5-point favorites (both failed to cover by half a point), the Lions reopened -3 and have since been up to a consensus -3.5. Did bettors see Detroit RB Jahmyr Gibbs intentionally go down when the Packers were trying to let him score a TD and feel the Lions could have or should have covered? Personally, I see it the opposite way, in that it shows the Lions only care about winning and would do it again (note: this is another unspoken additional reason why I see more value in betting dogs overall). In addition, the Vikings are undefeated and mostly winning with their defense, but the offense might step up this week against the Lions’ No. 32-ranked defense (391 yards per game!).

Best Bet: Vikings +3.5 (Pool Play Percentages: Vikings 67/33 in ATS contests, but Lion still 67/33 in SU pools – see TNF).

Las Vegas at New York Jets (-1.5)

The Raiders started 3-0 but have come back to reality with four straight losses, and the countdown has started on when No. 1 overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza will take over at QB. For now, the Raiders believe Kirk Cousins gives them the best chance, so they’re sticking with him. They’re definitely taking a step down in class (to steal a horse racing phrase since it’s Breeders’ Cup Week) here after losing to the Chiefs, Patriots, Bills and Rams. Still, I’m not confident of a minor upset, so we’ll start our Tuley’s Teaser Portfolio here by moving the Raiders up to +7.5 with 6-point teasers and through the key numbers of 3 and 7.

Best Bet: Raiders +7.5 in teasers (Pool Play Percentages: Raiders 55/45 in ATS contests, but Jets 60/40 in SU pools).

Arizona at Dallas (-6.5)

I wrote about “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde teams” last week (since I’ve been watching the classic story on Turner Classic Movies, including Bugs Bunny and Sylvester/Tweety versions, with Halloween approaching) and these two teams fit the bill. The line opened at Cowboys -5.5 last week before the Cardinals were blown out 30-16 by the Broncos and the Cowboys pulled away to beat the Eagles 38-21 on Monday night. However, the line has only increased to -6.5, which is too short for me to trust the Cardinals with a wager.

Best Bet: Pass (Pool Play Percentages: Cardinals 55/45 in ATS contests on principle, but Cowboys 70/30 in SU pools).

Atlanta at Tampa Bay (-2.5)

The Buccaneers lost their first five games but have to feel they’re back in the hunt in the weak NFC South after winning two straight and getting QB Baker Mayfield back. And I get why this line has gone from pick-’em to Bucs -2.5 as the Falcons have the fourth-worst pass defense. So, I can’t take the short number on Atlanta. However, the Falcons’ offense has shown signs of competence since Michael Penix Jr’s return, and this should be a one-score game as both teams try to catch the Panthers in the division, so we’ll add it to the Tuley’s Teaser Portfolio.

Best Bet: Falcons +8.5 in teasers (Pool Play Percentages: Falcons 55/45 in ATS contests, but Buccaneers still 60/40 in SU pools).

Baltimore at Buffalo (-3 -120)

This is one of Week 8’s marquee games: the AFC East-leading Bills (5-1) host the Ravens (4-3), who are last in the AFC North but are expecting to get back QB Lamar Jackson, who practiced Wednesday. The advance line was Bills -3 but was raised to -3.5 on Sunday afternoon after the Ravens lost 35-13 to the Bengals, but that was with Tyler Huntley, and most reports were that Jackson would be back for this battle. The line has since dipped back to -3 at most books, though most are attaching -115 or -120. That’s too short for me to fade the Bills fresh off their bye, especially since I thought the line wasn’t high enough at 3.5 and didn’t bet it then either.

Best Bet: Pass (Pool Play Percentages: Ravens 55/45 in ATS contests on principle, but Bills still 65/35 in SU pools).

Indianapolis at Jacksonville (-10)

The advance line for this AFC South matchup was Jaguars -7.5. While the Jags were on a bye, the Colts lost 16-10 at the undefeated Vikings and covered as 6.5-point road dogs, and the line reopened at the same -7.5. However, in the last few days, there have been reports of a “fire sale” by the Colts (after firing GM Chris Ballard and trading G Quenton Nelson and DT DeForest Buckner with RB Jonathan Taylor, WR Josh Downs and WR Keenan Allen also being rumored on the trading block), and this line has steamed to double digits. I hear all that news, but I still believe the line has been overinflated and will gladly fade it with the remaining Colts players, as they still gave the Vikings a game and covered for us.

Best Bet: Colts +10 (Pool Play Percentages: Colts 67/33 in ATS contests, but Jaguars still 80/20 in SU pools).

Tennessee at Cincinnati (-10.5)

Another double-digit dog, which plays right into our hands, as we’ve done well with dogs getting more than a TD all season. The advance line was Bengals -9.5, then moved to -10.5 after the Bengals routed the Ravens 35-13 and the Titans lost 27-24 to the Browns. Joe Burrow looked great in the second half with four TD passes, but let’s not forget the Bengals looked terrible in the first half as they trailed 13-0, and the Titans, despite winning only one game, have been competitive in most of their games and should be able to keep within one score to get us the cover.

Best Bet: Titans +10.5 (Pool Play Percentages: Titans 67/33 in ATS contests, but Bengals still 90/10 in SU pools).

Cleveland at Pittsburgh (-3.

College Football Picks for This Week: Week 9
Image File
Original HTML

In a week where we published our 2026 College Basketball Betting Guide, we are still keeping our eyes on the college football prize, as we have best bets from several of our contributors. This is the final weekend before we get our first set of College Football Playoff rankings, so those should be interesting to check out when they drop, especially if we get some more chaos this week.

Usually, the games I like have nothing to do with the big teams or the CFP contenders. That’s true of this week as well, as my preferred picks come from games that are a little off-the-radar for most people.

Here are my favorite Week 9 college football picks:

For more best bets, check out our VSiN Picks page with top plays from hosts and guests.

Lines from Circa Sports as of 6:20 p.m. PT on October 28

Arizona State at BYU (-16.5, 48) Prediction

Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET (FOX)

Pick: Arizona State +16.5

The Sun Devils are taking some very young centerpieces to Provo this week, as freshman QB Jake Fette is expected to start and freshman RB Cardae Mack was the National Freshman of the Week after running for 159 yards on 26 carries with four touchdowns. The Sun Devil faithful were rather vocal when Cutter Boley struggled in replacing injured starter Mikey Keene, prompting Kenny Dillingham to roll with the freshman QB. It just so happens that Mack also had a big game.

So, we’ve got a changing of the guard and something exciting happening for a team that hasn’t had a ton of excitement thus far. The defense did benefit last week from the absence of Kansas State QB Avery Johnson, but this is a team with a lot of talent. Dillingham and the coaches just haven’t put all the pieces together quite yet.

BYU had all the pieces together and then went on the road and lost to UCF in overtime on the heels of a massive win over Notre Dame. On the whole, the Cougars have impressive numbers, but they are down 1.55 YPP from the non-conference and the defense is starting to get tested a bit more.

With a 16.5-point head start that is over one-third of the total, I think the Sun Devils, who now have a dual-threat QB in Fette, have the chance to keep this one close.

New Mexico (-14.5, 41.5) at San Jose State Prediction

Saturday, 4 p.m. ET (MW+)

Pick: San Jose State +14.5

Covering numbers solely on the backs of your defenders is a tough way to go. Over the last two weeks, New Mexico has scored just 42 points. They’ve beaten Hawaii by 11 and North Dakota State by five while posting just 186 passing yards. New Mexico only has 31 first downs over the last two games. There is no question that Jason Eck’s defense is elite, but the offense leaves a lot to be desired.

The Spartans defense is pretty average from a national perspective, allowing 5.27 YPP in conference games and 5.23 YPP outside of those matchups. New Mexico has allowed 4.38 YPP in non-conference and 4.48 in conference. But, they are traveling again here, as it’s been a big three-week stretch. The Lobos went out to Hawaii, came back for a massive game against North Dakota State with a very raucous atmosphere in Albuquerque, and now they’re out west again.

The Spartans are actually third in the nation in sacks with 29 and fourth in sacks per game with 3.63. This has been a feisty defense in a lot of ways and I don’t expect the Lobos to be able to throw the ball much. Toa Fa’avae has been sacked 15 times in just 87 pass attempts. He’s had to run 63 times for 245 yards. We’ll see if the ground and pound works again for UNM, but 14.5 is a pretty hefty number to cover.

Oklahoma State (-8.5, 58) at Iowa State Prediction

Saturday, 7:00 p.m. ET (FS1)

Pick: Oklahoma State -8.5

Okay, maybe Oklahoma State can get up into the College Football Playoff discussion, but it would take one hell of a dominant run to erase that loss earlier in the season to Tulsa. Since then, Eric Morris and the Cowboys have only lost once, a 35-32 defeat at Houston. From a per-play standpoint, Okie State was the better team, but the defense couldn’t get off the field enough and Houston converted three times on fourth down.

The conference numbers for these two teams are staggering. In four conference games, the Cowboys have racked up 8.06 yards per play. They have averaged 530 yards per game. Iowa State? Exactly 5.00 yards per play and just 328.5 yards per game. Defensively, the Cyclones have given up 7.44 yards per play and the Cowboys have surrendered 5.71.

I figured we’d get a better effort out of the Cyclones coming off the bye, but they went out to Tucson and got crushed 39-3. While RB Aiden Flora has impressive numbers with seven yards per carry, he ran for 16.2 yards per pop against Bowling Green and 9.6 yards per carry in the 45-42 win over West Virginia. Those two games account for five of his six touchdowns. Meanwhile, QB Jaylen Raynor has only completed 58.9% of his passes with a 7/4 TD/INT ratio, as stepping up in class from Arkansas State hasn’t worked out well.

I’m looking at the Cowboys to make a statement in Ames here.

Rodrigo Pastore, Trainer Chemnitz: "Ich bin sehr zufrieden. Eigentlich war es sogar die Reaktion, die ich von dieser Gruppe erwartet habe. Jetzt, wo wir drei Monate zusammen sind, lernen wir aus unseren Fehlern. Wir haben am Montag einen Schritt zurück gemacht [88:98 am 6. BBL-Spieltag in Würzburg, Anm.d.Red.].

Las Vegas Raiders at New York Jets – 1:00 pm ET

Didn’t last week show us that New York probably shouldn’t be favored against anyone? The Jets had a golden opportunity to pick up another win, as they were hosting a winless Dolphins team at MetLife Stadium. Miami ended up moving the ball at will in that game, scoring 28 points and picking up its first win of the year.

The Jets will now be hoping to turn things around against a cold Raiders team, but it’s a Vegas squad which really isn’t that bad. In fact, the Raiders are No. 15 in the NFL in EPA/Play (0.019) this season, Kirk Cousins is Pro Football Focus’ 14th-ranked starter, and the team has the sport’s ultimate weapon in Brock Bowers. Perhaps I’m oversimplifying things, but are we sure New York can be trusted to slow the passing game down? The Jets are 24th in the NFL in Dropback EPA/Play Allowed (0.141) this season.

Naturally, a lot of what I just wrote can be applied to the Raiders. Las Vegas has been absolutely awful defensively this season. However, it’s pretty clear that Klint Kubiak is a better head coach than Aaron Glenn. I also have way more faith in Cousins than I do Geno Smith. In what could be a close game, that’s enough for me to take the plus-money odds.

Bet: Raiders ML (+105)

Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions – 1:00 pm ET

This feels like an ideal matchup for T.J. Hockenson. I know the Vikings passing game has been miserable this season, but playing the Lions brings “The Greatest Show on Turf” out of everyone. Detroit is also especially bad against tight ends, ranking 32nd in TDs allowed, 32nd in receptions allowed, and 31st in aDOT allowed to the position. With that in mind, if Kyler Murray can comfortably see over the line in this game, he should see Hockenson with a whole lot of green around him. That said, I’m taking Hockenson to finish with at least 38 receiving yards, and I’m also playing him to score a touchdown.

Bet: Hockenson Over 37.5 Receiving Yards (-117) & Hockenson Anytime TD (+285 – 0.5 units)

Steve Makinen: College Football Week 9 Best Bets, Predictions and Picks
Image File
Original HTML

College Football Week 9 Best Bets, Predictions and Picks from Steve Makinen:

I took college football Week 7 off to refresh both my mind and my data, as I called it, and it paid off in Week 8. My best bets (12-5 ATS) and Effective Play-by-play lines (34-22 ATS) both did very well. Even with the overall success, there were still some easy wins, some definitive losses, and a couple of games, as usual, that I thought I had the right side on but still lost.

As we head into Week 9, my season best bets mark is now 65-62-1 ATS (51.2%). Man, I sure wish I could flush that 5-14 from Week 6 away. In any case, the Week 9 slate looks pretty loaded, with a couple Top 25 matchups and some ranked teams hitting the road and playing as underdogs at unranked teams. I will be in Oxford, MS to take in the Auburn-Ole Miss contest so I am excited about that one. With that said, after poring through this week’s loaded VSiN College Football Analytics Report, I have settled on these games for Week 9:

Thursday, October 29, 2026

Troy at James Madison (Total 49.5)

You have to think that James Madison head coach Billy Napier gave his defense a tongue lashing after the 34-31 loss last week to Appalachian State. That unit has been pretty solid beforehand and even after that contest, is still holding teams 8.4 points below their effective average scoring totals. The Dukes are no longer undefeated and will have to fight hard the rest of the way to stay in the CFP picture.

Looking at that defensive metric I just showed, it that holds true, we should expect Troy to score around 17 points. Those are body of work numbers. With the Trojans putting up just 14 and 6 points the last two weeks on the Louisiana duo, I think that 17 number is overstated. Let’s go with 13. With a total of 49.5, do I think the Trojans can hold JMU to 36 or less? For sure. They haven’t allowed that much all year and in fact, are yielding just 24.9 PPG on average. This is a solid defense, and a team that tends to play at a slower pace under head coach Gerad Parker.

Getting back to JMU’s loss at ASU, teams coming off a road conference upset loss in which they were favored by -7 or more have been big Under the total teams, 67-49 (57.8%) since 2021. These teams’ defensive points allowed fell from 31.8 PPG to 21.7 PPG. In addition, Sun Belt non-Saturday games have gone Under the total at a 57-33-1 (63.3%) rate since 2015. There’s also over 90% of the handle and bets at DraftKings on Over and they aren’t raising the number.

College Football Best Bet: Let’s go Under 49.5 in Troy-James Madison

Friday, October 30, 2026

Tulane (-10) at Charlotte

Before Charlotte’s shocking 38-31 upset win at Temple last week, you could have argued the 49ers were one of the worst teams in the FBS. Does that game, one which seemed much overpriced, change anything for Charlotte in the grand scheme of things? To me, absolutely not. In fact, the victory could have a bad hangover effect: Teams playing at home in conference games as dogs of more than 3 points after a huge upset win as a double-digit road underdog have been a play against team, 32-50 ATS (39%) since 2010. The 49ers are just 5-23 (17.9%) ATS in their last 28 home games. Meanwhile, Tulane has been horribly inconsistent in this first season under head coach Will Hall, but as a program, it is 13-5-1 ATS (72.2%) as a road favorite since 2020. Not to mention, AAC favorites in the -7 to -12 line range have gone 120-19 SU and 77-56-6 ATS (57.9%) in conference play since 2015. The Green Wave are 10-point favorites here. With Charlotte boasting just a one-point home-field advantage, my power ratings say it should be 18.6.

College Football Best Bet: I’ll lay the 10 points with Tulane at Charlotte

Saturday, October 31, 2026

Georgia Tech (+7.5) at Pittsburgh

The Georgia Tech-Pittsburgh game is one of the handful of contests on my Effective Play-by-play Ratings that show an edge for one team on the body of work numbers, but an opposite edge on the recent numbers. I believe it in this case, because Pittsburgh has been a completely different team since QB Eli Heintschel went out with the injury in the Virginia Tech game at the beginning of October. Including that contest, the Panthers were averaging 38 PPG. Since then, they’ve scored just 20.3 PPG in a three-game SU and ATS losing skid.

After getting blown out by Miami last week, they now face this difficult system against Georgia Tech: Teams that have lost their last three games SU and ATS, all in conference play, have gone just 64-96 ATS (40%) when hosting a conference foe in the next game. and teams playing in a home conference game after losing and yielding 48+ points to another conference rival the previous game are just 75-108 ATS (41%) since 2020. The money at DK is behind the Yellow Jackets too, and when a 58% or greater majority of the handle has been on road underdogs for an ATS wager since the start of the 2022 season, this majority group has gone 177-156-2 ATS (53.2%). Under head coach Brent Key, Georgia Tech has been a great underdog and is currently on a 9-1 ATS (90%) run in the last 10 as a single-digit underdog in conference games

College Football Best Bet: Let’s go with Georgia Tech +7.5 on Saturday at Pitt

Illinois (-2.5) at Maryland

Maryland has had two weeks to stew over losing to Rutgers at home and extending its Big Ten losing streak to 12 games. Now, according to oddsmakers, they have a pretty good chance to upset an Illinois team that has won back-to-back games in league play and has been on a different level in recent years. Does the week off help the Terps in getting ready for this one? In most cases, you would think so, but Maryland is 0-12 SU and 2-10 ATS (16.7%) in the last 12 post-bye week games.

At the same time, Illinois is 20-10 (66.7%) ATS in road/neutral games since 2021. We also have a system in play describing that Big 10 road favorites of -4 or less have gone 30-13 SU and 27-16 ATS (62.8%) in conference play since 2021. If you’re looking at metrics, my Effective Play-by-play numbers show Illinois should be favored by 4.3 here, not 2.5. The recent Effective Play-by-play numbers suggest the line should be Illinois -6.7, a number quite similar to my Power Ratings (-6.8).

College Football Best Bet: It’s Illinois -2.5 at Maryland for me

Appalachian State at Georgia Southern (-5.5)

Appalachian State comes off the huge win over previously unbeaten James Madison but has been wildly inconsistent this season. That continues a trend from recent years, as the Mountaineers have struggled to string together long winning streaks. They have also struggled in this series, as Georgia Southern is 6-3 SU and 8-1 ATS in the last nine head-to-head matchups with App State. GSU has covered six of seven games this season and seems better than oddsmakers give credit for.

This figures to be a good spot, since Georgia Southern is 24-7 ATS (77.4%) as a home favorite since 2018. The money and bets at DK are backing the Panthers here too, as over 90% of the handle is on that side. That won’t be a concern at -5.5, when a 68%+ majority of the handle was on home favorites of 7 points or fewer for an ATS wager since the start of the 2023 season, this majority group is 97-77 ATS (55.7%). The raw stats, particularly my Effective Play-by-play ratings, also show GSU should be a double-digit favorite in both full-season and recent trend numbers.

College Football Best Bet: I’ll go with Georgia Southern -5.5 to take down Appalachian State

Boston College (+7) at Duke

Duke has played in three consecutive very tight games, all decided by 4 points or less, including last week’s 19-16 win at Virginia. That puts the Blue Devils in a tough spot for this week against BC as home favorites off a small conference upset haven’t been good bets: Teams coming off outright conference upsets when a dog of +3 points or fewer are just 67-100 ATS (40.1%) when favored at home in the follow-up game. As it is, Boston College is 33-18 (64.7%) ATS in Conference games since 2020, and underdogs are 2-4 SU but 5-1 ATS in the last six of the BC-Duke set.

The fact that the Golden Eagles are playing their best football of the season, having won four straight ATS also needs to be given consideration here, as that is the longest such winning streak in the three-year head coach Bill O’Brien era. The Effective Play-by-play numbers, both in the full body of work and in the recent trend, also suggest this spread is a bit high. And the betting splits at DraftKings show 83% of the handle on Duke. Going back to the start of the 2022 season, when more than 75% of the handle was on one side of an ATS wager, that majority group has gone just 652-718 ATS (47.6%). BC is playing well enough to be a live dog here; Duke is not playing well enough offensively to lay a lot of points.

College Football Best Bet: I got Boston College +7 at Duke

Minnesota at Indiana (Total 41.5)

I had an interesting conversation with my betting nephew last week, and he said he makes a list of teams that need to be considered for Unders on totals every week, regardless of who they play. Minnesota is one of those teams, and this week the Golden Gophers face one of the country’s most formidable defenses in Indiana. The Hoosiers hold teams 22.9 points below their effective averages. At the same time, Minnesota scores just 7 points more per game than their opponents effectively allow. The math on both of these models suggests we should not see more than 11 points from the Gophers on Saturday in Bloomington.

I try to make it a regular point to go against teams that are expected to score so few points. However, in this case, the Hoosiers’ offensive attack simply can’t be counted on to reach 30 after scoring just 48 over the last three games. Thus, the Under should be considered here. From a system standpoint, with UM having just won the big one over Iowa, teams coming off a win over a ranked team and playing another ranked team are 88-50 Under the total (63.

TIER IV and NTRO advance autonomous transit initiative in Australia

TOKYO, Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Australia's National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO) has purchased a mid-sized autonomous bus from TIER IV, a pioneering force in open-source software for autonomous driving, as part of broader efforts to accelerate autonomous vehicle deployments in Australia and New Zealand. The two organizations established a strategic collaboration in 2024, capitalizing on NTRO's experience conducting trials in the region and TIER IV's track record of autonomous bus deployments in Japan.

The vehicle is a 15-seater electric bus with an autonomous driving system developed by TIER IV. NTRO has decided to name the bus Rita in honor of Rita Excell, who was executive director of the Australian Driverless Vehicle Initiative when she partnered with the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) â a precursor of NTRO â for the country's first autonomous vehicle trial with Volvo XC90s in November 2015.

NTRO and TIER IV have tested the vehicle and fine-tuned it for Australian conditions on a dedicated track, aiming to demonstrate driverless operation and conditional automated driving with a driver present. NTRO is now providing opportunities for state transport agencies, bus operators, local councils, airports and other organizations across Australia and New Zealand to experience the bus through demonstrations and in-service public transport trials, including on public roads.

This initiative aligns with Australia's National Road Safety Strategy target of zero deaths and serious injuries on roads by 2050. It also addresses a bus driver shortage that is expected to worsen as many drivers reach retirement age in the late 2020s.

"The acquisition of Australia's first autonomous bus from TIER IV is an exciting moment for NTRO and Australia," said Michael Caltabiano, Chief Executive Officer of NTRO. "NTRO has the skills and expertise to develop the tools needed to deploy autonomous driving technology in Australia, addressing critical needs like safely transporting elderly people between their homes, shops and hospitals. These services, delivered by NTRO's new autonomous bus Rita, will be more cost-effective and environmentally sustainable than using the current fleet of buses. The new bus will be a watershed moment, allowing local communities access to safe, secure and reliable transport. Successful models around the world have shown how this technology can benefit elderly and mobility-challenged individuals, support communities that rely on regular short trips to public facilities, and assist schools with dedicated pick-up routes to reduce congestion during busy morning and afternoon periods."

"We are delighted to partner with NTRO in bringing our autonomous bus to Australia," said Shinpei Kato, founder and CEO of TIER IV. Building on our experience deploying autonomous buses across Japan, this collaboration demonstrates how advanced autonomous driving solutions can be safely and effectively applied to improve public transport. With Rita, we aim to show that autonomous buses can enhance mobility and provide a model for safe and reliable services in communities worldwide. This partnership reflects our commitment to advancing autonomous driving while addressing real-world transport challenges."

TOKYO, Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced the release of the CMKâ100, a lightweight mechanical timepiece with excellent readability. Combining comfort and practicality, the watch is suitable for a variety of occasions, from everyday use to business settings.

The new CMKâ100, powered by an automatic movement, is designed for practicality in day-to-day life, with a lightweight construction and excellent readability. Developed in response to growing demand for mechanical watches, the watch is a handsome accompaniment to daily living.
