Nice expands its European critical infrastructure security capabilities with its HySecurity division

The Nice group formalizes its entry into the European hostile vehicle mitigation market with CE-certified products from its HySecurity division, on show at International Security Expo 2026

LONDON, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Nice, an international technology group specializing in Smart Living solutions, is strengthening its presence in the European security market with the structured introduction of its HySecurity division, offering high-security gates, barriers and hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) solutions.

The solutions will be presented at International Security Expo 2026, taking place at Olympia London on 29-30 September, where Nice will exhibit at Booth C90.

HySecurity, part of the Nice group since 2016, brings more than 60 years of expertise in hydraulic gate operators and crash-rated barriers for high-security and critical-infrastructure sites, such as airports, government facilities and data centres. Its promise puts people at the center: protecting people and places to keep the world moving.

Until now, HySecurity products have reached European specifiers primarily on a project-by-project basis. Following CE certification of an initial product range, Nice is establishing a structured route to market in Europe, supported by local commercial and technical teams and the Group's network of installers and system integrators. Nice is well known in the European panorama, and it exists so people can move through their everyday lives freely, safely, and without a second thought — this is the promise of Smart Living. HySecurity extends that same promise to the places society depends on most: airports, borders, data centers, government sites.

This expansion comes as physical infrastructure protection rises on the European agenda. Transport hubs, energy and water networks, data centres, government sites, logistics facilities and public spaces share the same challenge: strengthening protection without obstructing people, vehicles or operations.

Regulation reflects this shift. The European Commission's proposed Public Procurement Act emphasizes resilience and security of supply in strategic sectors, while CER and NIS2 have reinforced infrastructure resilience across Europe. In the UK, data centres are now designated Critical National Infrastructure and are being brought under a stronger statutory resilience framework.

The result is growing demand for systems that combine physical protection, controlled access and operational reliability, which is exactly what Nice aims to deliver through its HySecurity division.

High-security solutions for the European market

At ISE, Nice will showcase three CE-certified solutions now available in Europe:

- StrongArm® M30/M50 crash-rated HVM barrier arm;

- SlideDriver™ II hydraulic slide gate operator;

- HydraSwing® heavy-duty hydraulic swing gate operator.

All three solutions integrate with Nice's access, control and connectivity ecosystem, enabling high-security access points to operate as part of a wider site management environment.

Nice will also present solutions from its established automation portfolio, including the Titan 6024HS high-speed swing gate operator with MC824H control unit, the M5 Bar road barrier and the Tub4000 underground operator.

NUH ENDOCRINOLOGY TEAM SHOWCASES END-TO-END CARE MODEL THAT PROTECTS HOSPITALISED PATIENTS WITH DIABETES MELLITUS (DM) ACROSS THEIR CARE JOURNEY
Image File
Original HTML

NUH's Inpatient DM management team highlights how safe prescribing is strengthened through proactive monitoring, rapid intervention and coordinated care transitions.

SINGAPORE, Sept. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Newer diabetes treatments are transforming care, helping patients not only manage their blood sugar levels but also protect their hearts and kidneys while reducing the risk of serious complications. However, unlocking the full benefits of these medications requires more than prescribing the right drug. Safe use depends on timely monitoring, patient education and coordinated care across every stage of treatment.

Recognising this, the NUH DM team has developed a multidisciplinary care model that supports patients from the point of prescribing through hospitalisation, discharge and recovery in the community. Bringing together physicians, nurses, pharmacists and care coordinators, the approach strengthens medication safety while helping patients benefit from the latest advances in diabetes care.

The team's initiatives were showcased at the NICQ-NUH Grand Rounds: Safe Prescribing, Safe Transitions, Safe Recovery at NUHS, a multidisciplinary educational forum for healthcare professionals held in conjunction with World Patient Safety Day 2026. Centred on the theme of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), the theme for this year's World Patient Safety Day "Self Care for Life" emphasises safe care for NCDs cannot rest on healthcare professionals alone. It requires patients, families, and communities to be active, informed partners in that care journey. The DM team's initiative tackles a critical paradox that many of us in clinical practice will recognise: in diabetes care, both action and inaction carry risk.

Led by Adjunct Associate Professor Khoo Chin Meng from the Division of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine, NUH, the session highlighted a number of initiatives implemented at NUH. These include SPARK, a proactive digital monitoring programme that identifies hospitalised patients at risk of hyperglycaemia before complications occur; HypoBox, a nurse-led intervention that enables the rapid treatment of hypoglycaemia; and structured care-transition processes that support patients beyond discharge.

Advancing safe prescribing in modern diabetes care

For the NUH DM team, safe prescribing does not end when a medication is prescribed. It extends across every stage of a patient's journey, from treatment initiation and inpatient care to discharge and recovery in the community.

This philosophy underpins a coordinated care model that combines patient education, proactive monitoring and multidisciplinary support to help prevent, identify and manage treatment-related complications.

Adj A/Prof Khoo Chin Meng, Division of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine NUH, said:

"The evidence is clear that SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists improve outcomes for patients with diabetes by protecting the heart and kidneys and reducing the risk of serious complications. As clinicians, we have a responsibility to ensure that patients receive these therapies when appropriate. Equally important, however, is ensuring that patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals are equipped to recognise and manage potential adverse effects. Safe prescribing is not simply about selecting the right medication. It is about building the systems, education and support structures that allow patients to use these treatments safely across every stage of care."

Proactively identifying at-risk patients through SPARK

Most hospital systems respond when a problem is detected. SPARK was designed to do the opposite.

A cornerstone of NUH's inpatient diabetes safety framework, the digital programme enables the DM team to identify patients at risk of poor glycaemic control before complications occur. Rather than waiting for an alert, referral or clinical deterioration, clinicians proactively seek out patients who may require specialist support, allowing intervention at an earlier stage.

Integrated within NUH's electronic medical record system, SPARK continuously screens inpatient data and generates lists of patients who may be at risk of poor glycaemic control. Using SPARK, we developed the ProActive Service (since 2018) to identify those patients with DM who will be reviewed earlier by the Inpatient DM management team as their first touchpoint of care.

The ProActive Service currently includes the following groups of patients:

- For patients with DM admitted with hyperglycemic crisis (Diabetic Ketoacidosis or Hyperosmolar Hyperglycaemic State) or severe hypoglycaemia.

- For patients with DM who have undergone Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting surgery

- Patients with DM in all Surgical wards and Cardiology who have hyperglycaemia[1] and/or hypoglycaemia[2]

What distinguishes SPARK is its focus on identifying patients before they experience preventable complications. By proactively reviewing patients across the hospital, the team is able to optimise glucose control earlier, support wound healing, reduce the risk of infection and other diabetes-related complications, and facilitate recovery during hospitalisation.

Today, SPARK is supported by a multidisciplinary team comprising physicians, nurses and pharmacists who work alongside primary teams to optimise inpatient DM management.

Dr Doddabele Srinivasa Deepak, Senior Consultant, Division of Endocrinology, Department of Medicine, NUH, said:

"SPARK was developed on the principle that we should not wait for patients to become unwell before intervening. By proactively identifying patients at risk, we can initiate appropriate management earlier, support primary teams and reduce the likelihood of avoidable complications. This allows us to deliver safer and more coordinated care across the hospital."

Empowering nurses to respond rapidly to Hypoglycaemia

Complementing SPARK is HypoBox, an initiative developed by the nurses within the NUH DM team to enable the rapid management of hypoglycaemia. HypoBox is a nurse-led initiative designed to enable rapid and standardised treatment of hypoglycaemic emergencies. By bringing essential treatment supplies and the management protocol together at the point of care, nurses can intervene promptly, confidently and consistently. Located in wards and clinics across NUH, the ready-to-use emergency kit that contains fast-acting glucose, complex carbohydrate options and hypoglycaemia management guidelines.

Hypoglycaemia remains one of the most common complications encountered by hospitalised patients receiving glucose-lowering treatment. If not recognised and treated promptly, severe episodes can result in seizures, loss of consciousness, neurological injury, coma and other serious adverse outcomes.

Since its implementation, more patients are able to achieve hypoglycaemia rescue within the recommended target time, enabling earlier recovery and reducing the risk of progression to severe hypoglycaemia. This reduces variability in practice and enhances patient safety.

Ms Heng Boon Ling, Advanced Practice Nurse, Nursing Department, NUH, who spearheaded the initiative, said:

"HypoBox began as a ground-up effort to make hypoglycaemia treatment faster, simpler and more consistent for frontline staff. During a hypoglycaemic event, every minute matters. We wanted nurses to have immediate access to the right treatment and clear instructions so they could act without delay. Through the train-the-trainer approach, we have built capability across the organisation and strengthened confidence in delivering safe diabetes care."

Together, the NUH DM team's safe prescribing framework, SPARK digital programme, HypoBox initiative and structured transition-of-care processes form an integrated safety ecosystem that supports patients throughout the continuum of diabetes care.

Delivered by a multidisciplinary team of physicians, Advanced Practice Nurses, pharmacists and care coordinators, the model demonstrates how healthcare systems can maximise the benefits of life-saving diabetes therapies while ensuring that robust safeguards are in place to prevent avoidable harm.

Breda University: how cycling infrastructure can unlock the future of urban mobility

BREDA, Netherlands, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- New light electric vehicles (LEVs) could cut car use but they also put more cyclists at risk, according to research conducted at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas).

As European Mobility Week closes with Car-Free Day, the Netherlands' cycling model faces a new test.

The world's blueprint for cycling

The Netherlands built the world's reference model for cycling: 28% of all trips by bike, 22 million bicycles for 18 million residents, and a 153,000-kilometre network that is increasingly studied and copied by cities worldwide.

Lower car use

Light electric vehicles - e-scooters, e-cargo bikes and fatbikes - are arriving on Dutch cycle paths in growing numbers. Research from the LEVERAGE project of BUas and partners shows the upside: in a survey of nearly 2,000 residents, a quarter are considering a small LEV soon, and three-quarters expect to drive their car less as a result. Interest spans suburban and rural areas equally, suggesting LEVs can extend cycling-based mobility beyond conventional bikes, contributing to decarbonising the wider mobility system.

It's behaviour, not the vehicle

But LEVs also bring more varied speeds and masses to the same narrow cycle paths, and safety research finds this is pushing up cycling accidents. Using eye-tracking, skin-conductance sensors and surveys with cyclists, researchers found that legal fatbikes and other LEVs draw more visual attention than ordinary bicycles. Yet this does not translate into measurable stress or unsafety, as long as LEV users behave predictably and keep to legal speeds.

"It is not the vehicle itself that creates danger, it is how it's used," says Paul van de Coevering, professor of Urban Mobility Planning at BUas. Even participants with negative prior attitudes towards LEVs reported no unsafe experiences when encountering them riding calmly. Infrastructure matters too: separated cycle paths consistently produced higher feelings of safety.

The policy fix

Enforcing behavioural standards like age limits, speed controls and predictable riding is more effective and receives more public support than banning specific vehicles. Combined with investment in well-designed infrastructure, these measures can keep the Dutch cycling model safe as it absorbs a new generation of electric vehicles.

Beactica Therapeutics initiates IND-enabling studies for BEA-17, a first-in-class LSD1-CoREST degrader for glioblastoma

UPPSALA, Sweden, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Beactica Therapeutics AB, a Swedish precision medicine company, today announced the initiation of IND-enabling studies for BEA-17, the Company's wholly owned, first-in-class oral degrader of the epigenetic regulators LSD1 and CoREST, being developed as a precision immunotherapy for glioblastoma (GBM). The studies advance BEA-17 from preclinical proof-of-concept into the formal safety, manufacturing and regulatory programme required to support a Clinical Trial Application (CTA) in the EU and/or an Investigational New Drug (IND) application in the US, and the start of first-in-human clinical trials.

Glioblastoma is the most common and most aggressive primary brain tumour, with a median overall survival of around 15 months and a standard of care that has remained essentially unchanged for more than two decades. Immunotherapies that have transformed other cancers have repeatedly failed in GBM, largely because the tumour maintains a profoundly immunosuppressive, immune-"cold" microenvironment. BEA-17 is designed to overcome this barrier: by degrading LSD1 and its scaffolding partner CoREST, BEA-17 enhances antigen presentation, induces viral mimicry and reprogrammes macrophages towards a pro-inflammatory state. In preclinical models of glioblastoma, BEA-17 in combination with standard of care substantially improved survival and produced durable tumour regression not observed with standard of care alone. BEA-17 has also potentiated anti-PD-1 checkpoint blockade in a preclinical model of colon cancer – effects not seen with catalytic LSD1 inhibitors. BEA-17 is orally bioavailable, brain-penetrant, and has been granted Orphan Drug Designation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of glioblastoma.

"Initiating IND-enabling studies is a defining milestone for Beactica and for the BEA-17 programme," said Dr Per Källblad, Chief Executive Officer of Beactica Therapeutics. "With a first-in-class mechanism and compelling preclinical efficacy in combination with standard of care, we are now executing the rigorous safety and manufacturing programme that will carry BEA-17 into first-in-human trials."

The IND-enabling programme comprises GLP-compliant repeat-dose toxicology in rodent and non-rodent species, safety pharmacology, pharmacokinetic studies, and manufacture of a traceable, fully documented batch of BEA-17 drug substance suitable for a Clinical Trial Application and a finalised oral clinical trial formulation.

The work is conducted under GLIOBREAK, a 30-month project supported by a EUR 2.5 million EIC Transition grant under Horizon Europe, announced in February 2026. Beactica expects to complete the IND-enabling programme and submit a Clinical Trial Application in the EU and/or an Investigational New Drug application to the US FDA in 2027.

PharmaResearch Officially Launches REJURAN in Hungary, Expanding Its Presence in Europe

Launch symposium at the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest brings together around 100 aesthetic medicine professionals, with experts from Korea, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary sharing clinical experience

SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- PharmaResearch, the Korean pharmaceutical company behind the globally recognized skin booster REJURAN, officially launched its portfolio of PN (polynucleotide)-based REJURAN products in Hungary at a symposium in Budapest on September 14, marking another step in the company's continued expansion across Europe.

Held at the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest—one of Hungary's leading national art institutions—the symposium marked REJURAN's first collaboration with the museum and brought together approximately 100 dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and other aesthetic medicine professionals. The setting provided a distinctive platform for REJURAN to present its clinical experience, treatment philosophy and scientific approach to the local medical community while reinforcing the brand's premium positioning.

The program featured seven speakers from Korea, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary, including Korean REJURAN key opinion leaders Dr. Hyun Jun Park and Dr. Kyu Ho Lee. Across a series of scientific sessions, the faculty discussed the role of PN in skin regeneration, clinical applications of REJURAN and treatment approaches informed by their respective clinical experience.

The Korean faculty also presented the different applications within the REJURAN portfolio: REJURAN, designed for broader facial treatment; REJURAN I, developed for delicate areas such as the periorbital region; and REJURAN S, intended for targeted treatment of wrinkles and scars.

Live demonstrations complemented the scientific sessions, giving attendees an opportunity to observe REJURAN treatment protocols and review practical considerations for use in clinical practice.

Interest in skin quality-focused treatments continues to grow within Hungary's aesthetic medicine market alongside established injectable treatments such as botulinum toxin and hyaluronic acid fillers. As patients become increasingly informed about aesthetic procedures, demand has been shifting toward natural-looking results and treatments with limited downtime. Physicians are also showing growing interest in multimodal protocols that combine injectables with energy-based devices and other aesthetic treatments.

Following the launch, PharmaResearch will begin expanding distribution of the three REJURAN products in Hungary in partnership with its local distributor. The company plans to broaden its network of REJURAN clinics and physicians across major cities while supporting clinical adoption through product education and hands-on training.

"This launch represents more than the introduction of REJURAN to a new market," said a PharmaResearch spokesperson. "It gave us the opportunity to share the clinical experience and treatment expertise developed in Korea while engaging directly with physicians in Hungary. We will continue investing in physician education and scientific exchange as we establish REJURAN in Hungary and expand into additional European markets."

accesso® Intelligence Introduces Agentic AI for Automated Workflows in Visitor Attractions

New capabilities help teams automate analysis, forecasting, reporting and work across their operations

LONDON, Sept. 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- accesso Technology Group (AIM: ACSO), a leading global technology provider for the leisure, entertainment and cultural markets, today introduced new capabilities that enable attraction operators to turn conversations with accesso Intelligence into recurring automated workflows. Users can now ask the platform to monitor performance, conduct research, detect and investigate changes, develop forecasts, produce reports and share findings with designated stakeholders.

Visitor attractions are complex organisations that operate multiple businesses under one roof, with data spread across ticketing, memberships, food and beverage, retail, parking, operations and other systems. accesso Intelligence, a decision intelligence platform purpose-built for visitor attractions, combines this valuable information together with relevant operational and external context. The result is a fully assembled platform that gives teams a more complete view of their business without requiring them to juggle multiple data and AI tools that don't integrate.

Through conversation, teams can define the analytical work required, select the appropriate tools and connected data, interpret the results and put the resulting workflow to work across the operation.

"What began as a conversation with your operation is becoming a new way of working within it," said Angie Judge, Chief Data and Intelligence Officer at accesso. "This is more than just a new way to analyse data. Teams can now delegate ongoing analytical work to accesso Intelligence, allowing people to focus their time on the decisions, creativity and accountability that require human judgement."

The expansion introduces three new connected capabilities:

- Agentic skills: accesso Intelligence can select and use specialised capabilities to perform multi-step analytical work, such as monitoring performance, detecting and evaluating changes and communicating issues that require attention.

- Agentic automations: Work created and refined through conversation can be scheduled or triggered repeatedly and conditionally. This can include conducting analyses, updating information and distributing results.

- Agentic reporting and forecasting: Teams can build and operationalise custom reports. The platform can determine the best predictive approach for each task, combining relevant operational context and external signals. Reports can adapt to what the data shows, rather than saying the same thing every day.

Traditional automation follows predefined steps. Agentic automation begins with an objective. accesso Intelligence determines the work required, selects the appropriate tools and connected data, interprets the results and delivers the requested outcome.

For example, an operator could ask accesso Intelligence to compare weekly visitation and revenue against plan, investigate any meaningful variance and consider relevant operational and external factors. The platform could then assess whether reforecasting is required.

From that conversation, the platform can create a repeatable workflow that monitors results, examines important changes and delivers recommendations and reasoning to the people who need them.

"The next stage of AI in attractions is not simply helping people find an answer," Judge said. "It is helping teams continuously monitor their business, recognise when conditions change and bring the right recommendation to the right person at the right time." accesso Intelligence brings data integration, industry-specific semantic modelling, machine learning, visualisation, reporting, conversational insight and workflow automation together in one platform.

The capabilities are available now within accesso Intelligence.

Attendees at IAAPA Expo Europe can learn more about accesso Intelligence and the broader accesso ecosystem at Booth S2123, 22–24 September at ExCeL London. Booth visitors can also request a complimentary personalised visitor-experience report identifying where decision intelligence could help reveal opportunities within their venue.

About accesso Intelligence

accesso Intelligence connects data across the systems that run an attraction and applies AI built on a decade of visitor attractions-specific expertise. The result is a decision intelligence platform that helps teams make faster, smarter and more confident decisions without having to build the underlying infrastructure themselves.
