New report: Why a lie-flat seat won't fix jet lag - and what airlines can do about it

Timeshifter's The Arrival Advantage shows most popular jet lag advice can make it worse, and how airlines can turn jet lag into a strategic edge

NEW YORK, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Timeshifter, the global leader in circadian technology and the company behind the world's most-downloaded jet lag app, today released The Arrival Advantage, a free report on the science of jet lag and the opportunity for airlines. The report explains why common advice and in-flight and lounge amenities fail to address jet lag â and can even make it worse â and how airlines can help passengers adjust to new time zones more quickly and build loyalty in the process.

The report establishes that jet lag is not a sleep problem. It is caused by misalignment between the brain's internal 24-hour circadian clock and the local time zone. Insomnia and daytime sleepiness are among its most obvious symptoms, which is why so many people and products wrongly treat it as a sleep problem. Jet lag has one science-based solution: Individually timed light exposure and light avoidance. And it is concentrated on the journeys airlines value most â long-haul international routes, and the premium and frequent flyers who fly them.

The report's four levers for airlines are:

- A plan for every passenger: A personalized plan sent automatically when a booking crosses three or more time zones. It can be gifted to top-tier members, earned or redeemed with miles, or offered as an ancillary at booking.

- The right light in the lounge: A small "avoid light" area, fitted with bulbs that cost the same as standard ones, so passengers can follow their plan before boarding.

- The right light in the cabin: Cabin lighting scheduled for the majority circadian profile on each route, with seatback screens that show each passenger's individual plan.

- Crew, ground staff, and corporate accounts: Personalized circadian planning for the workforce, and jet lag support as part of employers' duty of care.

"Airlines have optimized nearly every part of the journey except the one thing that follows travelers off the plane: Jet lag," said Mickey Beyer-Clausen, co-founder and CEO of Timeshifter. "No one travels for the flight. They travel for what's waiting when they land: Business meetings, a vacation or family reunion, or a sports competition. The science to help them arrive at their best is established. The airlines that apply it first will set the standard."

Top insights from The Arrival Advantage include:

- A lie-flat seat buys comfort. It does not reset the circadian clock.

- Without intervention, the clock adjusts by only about one hour, or one time zone, per day â so a New YorkâDubai trip takes over a week to fully adapt to.

- Well-meant advice like "sleep as much as you can on the plane," "eat when the locals eat," or "go for a jog in the morning" won't help passengers and can make jet lag worse.

- Loyalty programs reward members with miles, lounge access, and upgrades, but nothing for how members feel on arrival.

"Jet lag is a circadian disruption, and it can only be resolved by resetting the circadian clock with individually timed light exposure and light avoidance," said Dr. Steven W. Lockley, co-founder and Chief Scientist of Timeshifter, a former Harvard Medical School faculty member for more than 20 years and advisor to NASA and Formula 1. "Light at the wrong biological time shifts the circadian clock in the wrong direction, which is why generic advice so often makes jet lag worse."

Several global airlines already apply the science through a partnership with Timeshifter. The CDC Yellow Book, the reference for healthcare professionals advising international travelers, covers the science of jet lag and has featured Timeshifter since 2024.

New York City and Cancun top the Thanksgiving travel charts, while new Allianz Partners research finds family reunions, extended getaways and confident travelers are shaping the holiday season

RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Whether gathering around the dinner table with loved ones or trading turkey for tropical temperatures, Americans are preparing to take flight this Thanksgiving. According to the latest Top Thanksgiving Destinations report* from travel insurance provider Allianz Partners, New York City and Cancun have topped the list as the most popular domestic and international destinations, respectively, for the Thanksgiving holiday.

While popular destinations draw holiday travelers, new survey findings** from Allianz Partners suggest that who travelers are visiting for Thanksgiving may matter more than where they're going. Among surveyed U.S. customers who purchased travel insurance for Thanksgiving-period trips, nearly 62% cited proximity to loved ones as the most important factor in choosing their destination, while the median insured trip cost came in at $875.

A Full Plate of Domestic Favorites

New York takes the biggest slice of the travel pie, claiming the No. 1 spot among domestic destinations, with Orlando and Seattle following at No. 2 and No. 3. Dallas takes fourth place, while Phoenix rounds out the top five.

Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale complete the domestic top 10, with a mix of bustling metropolitan hotspots and sunny escapes for travelers looking to celebrate the holiday.

Sun-Soaked Escapes Continue to Entice International Travelers

For Americans heading abroad, Mexico and the Caribbean are serving up plenty of tropical escapes this Thanksgiving. Cancun claims the No. 1 international spot, followed by San José del Cabo at No. 2 and Punta Cana at No. 3. London takes fourth place, while Aruba's Oranjestad rounds out the top five.

Montego Bay, Paris, Puerto Vallarta, Nassau and Mexico City complete the international top 10, highlighting a mix of beachside retreats and bustling cultural destinations for travelers looking to spend the holiday overseas.

Making Room for Seconds (and Extra Vacation Days)

Beyond the destination rankings, Allianz Partners' 2026 Thanksgiving Travel Intent Survey reveals that holiday travel is overwhelmingly driven by connection. Two-thirds (67%) of surveyed policyholders are traveling primarily to visit family or friends, while others are hitting the road to celebrate special occasions, including weddings, birthdays and anniversaries, or to attend sporting events.

However, Thanksgiving isn't just about the holiday itself. Nearly one-third (32.4%) of respondents are either planning to add vacation days to their Thanksgiving trip or are considering doing so. One in five (20%) have already decided to extend their getaway, with those surveyed policyholders planning a median trip length of eight days, compared to six days for holiday-only travelers.

Respondents also show strong confidence in their holiday plans, with 90.5% of surveyed policyholders reporting that they are very confident their Thanksgiving trips will take place. Many are also planning ahead, with 68.6% reporting that they booked their trips between one and six months before travel.

"Thanksgiving travel has always been about bringing people together, and this year's findings show just how much Americans value those connections," said Emily Hartman, General Manager at Allianz Partners. "Whether travelers are heading home to see family, escaping to a sunny destination or extending the holiday into a longer vacation, having travel protection in place can help them feel more prepared for unexpected disruptions and focus on making memories with the people who matter most."

Travel Smart This Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving marking one of the busiest travel periods of the year, Allianz Partners encourages travelers to plan ahead and consider travel insurance to help protect their holiday investments. Depending on the plan selected, travel insurance may provide benefits for covered trip cancellations, travel delays, baggage issues and emergency medical situations.

Travelers planning longer getaways should also review their policy details to ensure their coverage aligns with their full travel itinerary, including any additional vacation days.

Allianz Partners offers travel insurance through most major U.S. airlines, leading travel advisors, online travel agencies, hotel companies, cruise lines and directly to consumers. For more information on Allianz Partners and available travel policies, please visit http://www.allianztravelinsurance.com/.

*Thanksgiving Destination Methodology: The data of U.S. travelers' 2026 Thanksgiving travel plans was gathered by analyzing the number of customers that went through the online booking process of airfare and package paths for customers generating itineraries for roundtrip flights departing from U.S. airports from 11/21/2026 â 11/26/2026 and returning 11/27/2026 â 12/1/2026 and purchasing Allianz Global Assistance Travel Insurance. In total, just over 145K itineraries were analyzed using this methodology.

**Thanksgiving Travel Intent Methodology: 1,524 Allianz Travel Insurance customers with trip departure dates of 11/20/2026 - 11/26/2026 and return dates of 11/26/2026 - 12/2/2026 traveling at least 100 miles from home participated in the survey.

HITRUST Launches IRIDX, an Information Risk Ratings Company to Standardize Information Risk Measurement, Governance and Financial Exposure

Standardized risk measures and modeled financial exposure connect third-party evaluation with enterprise governance and insurance underwriting

FRISCO, Texas, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- HITRUST today announced IRIDXâ¢, an information risk ratings company. IRIDX establishes and governs standardized methods for measuring residual information risk and estimating related financial exposure. IRIDX turns existing assurance and risk evidence into comparable, explainable measures that give enterprises, boards, underwriters and regulators a common basis for information risk decisions.

Organizations have access to extensive assurance and risk evidence, including assessments, certifications, questionnaires, telemetry and external risk signals, but lack a consistent way to evaluate it efficiently at scale and translate it into comparable measures of residual information risk. This limits their ability to assess exposure against risk appetite and incorporate the results into the broader risk-management program. Leaders need to understand how much information risk remains, what it could mean financially, whether that exposure is acceptable and how to govern, benchmark and transfer it.

"You cannot govern what you cannot consistently measure," said Daniel Nutkis, Founder and Executive Chairman, HITRUST and Founder of IRIDX. "Financial markets rely on standardized measures of credit risk because consequential decisions require a common basis for comparison. Information risk has lacked that same foundation. IRIDX brings measurement discipline to information risk so organizations can compare residual risk, understand financial exposure, govern what they accept and make informed decisions about what they reduce, retain or transfer."

IRIDX establishes a common measurement for information risk by giving organizations a standardized basis for interpreting assurance evidence, comparing residual risk and connecting that risk to financial exposure. That common language allows risk, security, finance, executive and board stakeholders to work from consistent measures while making decisions appropriate to their roles.

As AI impacts threats, business operations and the volume and production of assurance evidence, IRIDX helps organizations determine what that evidence demonstrates, how much confidence it merits and what it means for residual information risk. It improves third-party review efficiency and enables decisions that cannot consistently be supported today, including where to reduce risk, what exposure to accept and retain, and what to transfer.

IRIDX builds on nearly two decades of HITRUST's expertise in cyber threat analysis, control development and assurance methodologies. HITRUST's annual Trust Report provides evidence of its assurance track record through reported breach rates within HITRUST-certified environments. This foundation was integral to the development of IRIDX's own methods for measuring residual information risk and estimating related financial exposure. IRIDX develops and governs these methodologies under its own governance framework, separately from HITRUST's assurance and certification programs. It applies consistent criteria for evidence relevance, rigor and reliability, regardless of the evidence's source or affiliation.

Measuring Residual Risk and Financial Exposure

IRIDX's Evidence Intelligence process evaluates assessments, certifications, questionnaires, telemetry and external signals to determine what each input demonstrates and how reliably it supports a risk determination. These evaluations determine how evidence contributes to the residual-risk measure. IRIDX delivers standardized measures and decision support through the IRIDX Score, Information Risk Financial Exposure (IRFE), and governance and benchmarking tools. The objective is not another assessment or certification. It is a consistent measurement foundation for understanding residual risk, evaluating financial exposure and making governance, underwriting and risk-transfer decisions.

The IRIDX Score measures residual information risk and explains the factors driving the result, helping teams prioritize mitigation. An evidence-confidence indicator helps distinguish control weaknesses from evidence gaps or uncertainty. Authoritative Alignment Scores show demonstrated alignment and gaps against specified regulatory, standards, supervisory and AI governance or security requirements, supporting reporting and targeted remediation.

IRFE combines IRIDX residual-risk and evidence-confidence signals with relationship-specific service, contract and business-impact information. It estimates a scenario-based Low / Base / High range of modeled gross financial exposure for a defined relationship, before insurance, indemnity, contractual recovery or other transfer mechanisms are applied. Visible assumptions and loss drivers make each estimate traceable to the relationship's business context.

"Evaluating cyber risk is of utmost importance in every M&A transaction and for any board to properly exercise its fiduciary obligations. Clients need to understand not just what a vendor has agreed to, but what exposure the business may still carry. That means considering residual information risk and potential financial and reputational exposure alongside liability limits, indemnities and insurance," said Mark Solomon, Managing Partner of the Dallas office of Katten Muchin Rosenman. "The value we see in IRIDX and IRFE is a more consistent basis for negotiating protections, deciding what risk to accept and documenting why. That matters both at the negotiating table and in the boardroom."

"Third-party information risk decisions have consequences for the whole business," said Gregory Webb, Chief Executive Officer of HITRUST. "IRIDX bridges the gap between cybersecurity risk and business decision-making, giving executives and boards a consistent, defensible basis to understand their financial exposure, prioritize risk reduction and make informed decisions about what risk to accept, retain or transfer."

Enabling Enterprise Governance and Risk Transfer

Management and boards can compare exposure against risk appetite and approved thresholds, track the proportion of vendors within tolerance, and identify material exceptions and concentrations across vendors, services and shared dependencies. Portfolio views bring these measures together to support trend analysis and accountability for decisions and follow-up. Peer benchmarking adds context through relevant comparison groups while review coverage and evidence confidence make gaps and uncertainty visible.

"The challenge with vendor management today is that we only get a quantitative view of the number of vendors we've reviewed. This isn't enough in the current threat landscape." said Jeff Schilling, Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer at TaskUs. "We need to understand the risk we're accepting, where it's concentrated, and whether we're within the thresholds we've set. We also need to understand the financial exposure of a vendor portfolio and a solution that helps us decide where to reduce risk and how much we're prepared to retain and how much we need to transfer. While not a current client, as an IT decision maker, the value I see in IRIDX is giving management and the board a common basis for those decisions including how we compare with peers, how much confidence to place in the information."

IRIDX connects risk measurement and financial exposure to support underwriting and enable risk transfer for specific third-party relationships or contracts. Enterprises and insurance brokers can compare IRFE estimates with relevant insurance coverage and contractual recovery provisions to inform decisions about reducing, retaining or transferring exposure. Underwriters can use the IRIDX Score, evidence confidence and IRFE to inform decisions about a specific relationship. Insurers independently determine coverage, limits, retentions, pricing and terms. The IRIDX Score could also provide a consistent reference for regulators considering policy or oversight, including patterns, concentrations and changes in information risk.

"The IRIDX Score provides a unique and compelling view of third-party relationship risk," said Josh Ladeau, Managing Director of Strategic Initiatives at Trium Cyber. "This is perhaps our first opportunity, as an industry, to acquire genuine 'criticality-of-vendor-relationship' data, and that's just one piece. Deeper evidentiary collection and analysis processes, along with normalized scoring, offer substantially greater confidence in structuring appropriate coverage and create a foundation for a contract-specific product like True Transfer."

"Trium's True Transfer, leveraging the IRIDX score, enables the policyholder to surgically insure vendor exposure at the point of contract, with ring-fenced limits. There's nothing like it in the market today, and it drives confidence that there will be a check to cash when the bad day hits. Even with favorable contractual arrangements, the typical vendor breach fallout requires a lawsuit to access the vendor policy limits, which have also likely been previously committed many times over to every one of the vendor's other clients as well." said Matt Donovan, Executive Vice President at Amwins Group.

Operational Results and Measurement Credibility

IRIDX works with evidence organizations already collect and reduces manual interpretation and repeated review by normalizing varied evidence and identifying the inputs and gaps most relevant to the decision.

A comparative review found:

- Median analyst review time decreased by 89%, from 5.3 hours under the existing process to 35 minutes with IRIDX.

- Median elapsed time from evidence submission to completed risk determination decreased by 99.8%, from 14 days under the existing process to 35 minutes with IRIDX.

First-of-its-kind Kyndryl center in Europe reinforces strengths in data, AI and cyber resilience across the region

New center delivers AI-enabled intelligence, automated response and integrated visibility

PARIS, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), a leading provider of mission-critical enterprise technology services, today unveiled a new Cyber Defense Operations Center in Paris, bringing together network, security and operational intelligence within a single, integrated operating model.

As organizations accelerate adoption of AI, including increasingly autonomous and frontier AI systems, alongside cloud and distributed digital infrastructures, cyber and operational risks are becoming more interconnected. The distinction between a network issue, a security event and a business disruption is becoming increasingly difficult to separate.

Kyndryl's first Cyber Defense Operations Center in Europe addresses this challenge by correlating network operations, cybersecurity operations and AI-enabled intelligence. For customers, this approach supports cyber resilience, accelerates incident response and drives greater visibility across their technology environments with speed and scale.

"Strengthening our cyber defense capabilities is an important part of our long-term commitment to helping organizations address their most critical technology challenges as more companies are leveraging the power of AI," said Jérôme Calmelet, President and Strategy Director, Kyndryl France. "The new center in Paris is the first of its kind for Kyndryl in Europe and brings the strength of both our global and local capabilities into one place."

The new Cyber Defense Operations Center reflects the company's continued commitment to strengthening capabilities in data, AI and cyber resilience across France and builds on the company's previous announcement at Choose France 2025. It also adds to Kyndryl's global network of Network Operations Centers and Security Operations Centers that span North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

The Paris center also represents the next evolution in converging network, security and AI-enabled operations and complements Kyndryl's recently announced AI Innovations Labs in Luxembourg and Dallas, helping customers move from AI innovation to AI operations across the full technology lifecycle.

"At the Center, we will work side by side with customers to develop a strategic approach to help them navigate increasing complexity, strengthen their resilience and advance their transformation priorities," said Paul Savill, Senior Vice President, Global Practice Leader â Cyber Resilience and Connectivity, Kyndryl. "This enables our customers to effectively move from reactive monitoring to proactive cyber resilience."

For organizations navigating evolving regulatory requirements, such as the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), digital sovereignty priorities, growing cyber threats and increasing operational demands, the Paris center provides access to advanced network and cybersecurity expertise locally backed by Kyndryl's global delivery capabilities across 60+ countries. Together, these capabilities help organizations bolster resilience, manage risk and operate mission-critical technology environments with greater confidence.

Kyndryl Bridge, the company's AI-powered, open-integration digital business platform, is at the core of the center's evolution. By combining operational data, AI and automation across a unified control plane, Kyndryl Bridge helps customers identify anomalies earlier, prioritize risks more effectively and take preventative action before issues impact critical business services â while bringing increasing maturity across enterprise IT operations.

The center is also supported by more than a dozen technology alliances and partnerships spanning threat detection, vulnerability management, security automation, incident response and network monitoring.

As organizations modernize across cloud, data center, edge and third-party ecosystems, operational complexity and cyber risk continue to rise. According to the 2026 Kyndryl State of Modernization Report, 68% of organizations are increasing their use of at least four technology environments simultaneously. In France, 59% of organizations cite delivery disruption, project delays or operational downtime as challenges when executing modernization initiatives. Managing network and security operations separately can limit visibility, slow response times, and increase operational risks. Kyndryl's Cyber Defense Operations Center brings these functions together through unified monitoring, shared intelligence and coordinated response.

iboss Named a Leader in the GigaOm Radar for Zero Trust Network Access

Security teams get AI, data, and application control on one Zero Trust SASE platform

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Security teams need AI defenses, data protection, and application control on one platform, with Zero Trust Network Access built into that same stack. GigaOm names iboss a Leader in the GigaOm Radar for Zero Trust Network Access, in the Enduring Innovators quadrant, reflecting fully unified policies and visibility with AI insights, including Policy Tracing that shows operators why each access decision was made.

The Radar evaluates Zero Trust Network Access offerings for how they broker application access based on identity and context. The iboss assessment highlights one policy plane across public and private resources, Policy Tracing that surfaces the policy and security-engine logic behind each event, and ZTNA delivered inside the iboss Zero Trust SASE Platform.

"Customers need one platform that protects AI use, keeps data under control, and governs application access, with Zero Trust Network Access as part of that same stack, not a bolt-on," said Paul Martini, CEO and Co-Founder of iboss. "Being named a Leader in the GigaOm Radar for Zero Trust Network Access reflects how iboss delivers that access with fully unified policies and visibility with AI insights, including Policy Tracing."

The access decisions GigaOm evaluated run on the same platform that secures AI use and sensitive data. In iboss, inline, API, and endpoint signals feed one AI engine, with one console, one policy engine, and one data lake. Security teams set policy once and see AI activity, data movement, application use, and access in one place, whether a person or an agent is behind the activity.

AI use now starts with employees and, more and more, with autonomous agents acting on their behalf. iboss gives security teams the means to see, secure, and govern AI interactions in both cases:

- Conversation visibility across ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Claude, and emerging AI services, so teams can see how AI is actually used across the organization.

- Signatureless shadow AI discovery that finds new AI services as they appear, without waiting for a signature update.

- Real-time data loss prevention that blocks source code, customer data, personal information, and intellectual property before they reach AI platforms.

- AI policies by user, group, or department, with a full audit trail.

- Governance for autonomous agents: monitoring of autonomous agent activity, control over which AI services, tools, APIs, and applications agents may reach, and retained evidence of what agents did.

The result is AI adoption that security teams can approve with confidence, because they can see it and set its limits.

Data security breaks when each layer works in isolation. iboss secures and tracks data as it moves across web, cloud, AI platforms, and endpoints, whether a person or an agent moves it:

- Full SSL/TLS decryption by default across all protocols, so encrypted traffic is inspected rather than passed through unseen.

- Deep content inspection with file analysis and optical character recognition (OCR).

- Microsoft Purview integration, with Microsoft Information Protection label sync, inline controls, and data discovery for both labeled and unlabeled content.

- Data loss risk scoring and one-click compliance reporting for GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and SOX.

The same platform discovers and controls applications, including zero-day and vibe-coded apps that no signature database knows. A signatureless, AI-powered CASB scores the risk of both the app and the data, in-app controls can block uploads, remove share buttons, and apply tenant restrictions, and SaaS security posture management continuously checks Microsoft 365, Google, Salesforce, and more. Zero Trust Network Access sits in that same stack, so one policy and one view carry from AI use and data protection through to application access.

Because every signal flows into one AI engine, iboss turns activity into written analysis across security posture, data security, threats, and web and network activity. Segway Unveils 'Street Legal' Xyber Air Electric Bike
Image File
Original HTML

The brand's latest e-bike pairs the futuristic moto styling of its wildly popular Xyber in a lighter, more responsive Class 3 package for less than $2,000.

PLANO, Texas, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Segway, a global leader in the micromobility and LEV space, today introduces the new Xyber Air electric bike, a Class 1, 2 and 3-compliant evolution of the original Xyber. The Xyber Air is available now at store.Segway.com, official Segway dealers and SCHEELS nationwide for $1,999.99 MSRP.

When it was launched in 2025, the bold, moto-inspired aesthetic and blistering off-road performance of the original Xyber took the e-bike industry by storm and it quickly developed a dedicated enthusiast following. The all-new Xyber Air preserves the core DNA of the original icon in a lighter, more responsive package that adheres to Class 1, 2 and 3 e-bike designations, making it more accessible and versatile for even more riders.

"The original Xyber has been extremely popular and we wanted to carry that iconic design into a model that was lighter, more affordable and can be ridden anywhere e-bikes are allowed, whether it's just for fun or as practical transportation," said Sarah Courtney, director of US eBike product. "The Xyber Air is instantly recognizable with all the style and attitude of the original and retains the performance-oriented feel in an even more sleek and agile package with broader mass appeal."

Iconic Looks

The Xyber Air carries forward the distinctive angular frame language of its namesake in a cleaner silhouette for a more contemporary interpretation of the moped-style e-bike, making it bold and recognizable among the proliferation of retro-inspired clones in the category. While competitors look to the past, Segway forges into the future. Signature front and rear X-shaped lights bookend the sleek-yet-aggressive profile.

Powerful Performance

With 750 watts of nominal power and 80 Nm of torque, the Xyber Air delivers zippy acceleration of 0 to 20 mph in just 9 seconds. Featuring selectable Class 1, 2 and 3 operation where permissible, the Xyber Air tops out at 20 mph in Class 1 (pedal assist) and 2 (pedal assist or throttle) and 28 mph in Class 3 (pedal assist). A Hybrid Mode also allows throttle operation up to 20 mph and pedal assist to take over up to 28 mph without switching modes. Segway's Algorithm 2.0 intelligently uses real-time data from cadence and gyroscopic sensors to deliver smooth and natural pedal assist. Riders can expect up to 58 miles on a single charge thanks to a 717-Wh battery.

Comfort & Control

A dual-crown front fork with 80 millimeters of travel smooths things out when the going gets rough and 20 x 4-inch tires provide an optimal blend of traction and comfort. Two-piston hydraulic disc brakes front and rear with 180-millimeter rotors scrub speed and provide safe stops with power and consistency.

Intelligent Design

Like Segway's other e-bikes, the Xyber Air incorporates the Segway Intelligent Ride System, a suite of smart technologies designed to improve security, safety and convenience. AirLock auto unlocking, Apple Find My and real-time GPS as well as a motion alert alarm and Lost Mode remote disabling help provide peace of mind.

A brilliant, full-color TFT display ties the cockpit together with navigation, real-time ride metrics and can connect to and control music on the rider's phone as well as hold or reject calls. It even automatically adjusts brightness depending on ambient light conditions for maximum viewability.

Automotive-grade features like a traction control system (TCS), hill descent control with regen and hill start assist improve confidence and control. A 600-lumen automatic headlight paired with a taillight and brake light help riders see and be seen when daylight ends before the ride does.

Adaptive Compliance

Like Segway's other on-road e-bikes, Xyber Air is designed to adapt to e-bike regulations across different regions. Thanks to Segway's connected vehicle technology, performance parameters can be configured to meet local requirements without requiring changes to the underlying hardware. Xyber Air will be compliant with applicable New York City and New York State e-bike regulations at launch, with updates to Segway's existing e-bike lineup in the region rolling out through the end of October.

Accessories

Sold separately, several accessories will be available for the Xyber Air to improve function and utility. A fender set ($79.99) adds to the moto-inspired aesthetic and helps keep the bike and rider clean and dry even if the road isn't. A rear rack ($79.99) with built-in bungee attachment points carries up to 22 pounds and a hardshell in-frame bag  ($99.99)  designed to match the lines of the frame is weather resistant and features a built-in combination lock to keep precious cargo secure.

Rollick Releases the 2026 Future of Buying Study, Delivering New Insights into Today's Outdoor Recreation Consumer Purchase Journey
Image File
Original HTML

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Rollick, Inc., a leader in outdoor recreation marketing, technology, and market research, today announced the release of its 2026 Future of Buying Study. Based on feedback from 17,764 recent shoppers across 31 RV, marine, and powersports brands, the new study explores how shopping behaviors, technology adoption, affordability concerns, and digital retail expectations have evolved since the company's 2023 Future of Buying Study and continue to reshape the path to purchase.

Among the study's findings are several notable trends impacting the industry today. Most significantly, RV shopping cycles have lengthened, with 45% of shoppers saying they take four months or longer (an increase of 12 percentage points since 2023) to conclude their buying experience. Marine shopping journeys are similarly extended, withâ¯40% taking four months or more, while powersports buyers are also demonstrating longer consideration periods, with 51% spending more than one month shopping before making a purchase. The learnings point to brands and dealers needing to build long-term lead nurture strategies to engage consumers over extended decision-making periods.

Consumers place the highest level of trust in manufacturer websites, with 88% to 94% of respondents across segments saying they trust information provided directly by OEMs. Dealer information also remains highly trusted, but shoppers increasingly supplement both sources with third-party resources and owner communities to validate pricing, availability, quality, and ownership experiences. At the same time, AI is emerging as a meaningful research tool in the buying journey, creating an opportunity for brands to provide trusted, always-available product expertise. When asked how they would use an AI agent, 61% of respondents said they want answers to specific product questions, while 65% want guidance on insurance, financing, and cost of ownership, highlighting a growing demand for AI-powered product specialists that help consumers make informed decisions earlier in the shopping process.

The research also highlights a significant increase in demand for digital shopping experiences. Consumers increasingly prefer completing research, inventory searches, financing research, trade evaluations, and quoting requests online before ever stepping into a dealership. More than half of respondents in every segment also said they prefer to explore financing online, while a desire for online credit approval reachedâ¯54% in RV and 62% in both powersports and marine. Yet despite growing digital expectations, the dealership remains the preferred destination for finalizing purchases and taking delivery, reinforcing the importance of a connected online-to-offline buying journey.

Affordability emerged as one of the most important themes of the study. Pricing was the leading reason prospects did not purchase in the previous 12 months, cited byâ¯26% of RV respondents, 27% of powersports respondents, and 32% of marine respondents. Looking ahead, approximatelyâ¯84% of consumers said product price increases would affect their future purchase decisions, up from approximately 74% in the 2023 study.

"The outdoor recreation marketplace continues to evolve, but one thing remains constant: consumers expect a simpler, more informed buying experience," said Bernie Brenner, CEO of Rollick. "The 2026 Future of Buying Study serves as a strategic roadmap for OEMs, dealers, and industry leaders seeking to understand the next generation of outdoor recreation buyers." Geminus Enters Battery Storage and Grid Management With AFWERX SBIR Phase I Award

The company is bringing intelligent twins to battery storage and grid resilience at a defining moment for the power grid

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Geminus, the company bringing autonomy to the world's mission critical systems, today announced it has been selected by AFWERX for a SBIR Phase I contract focused on physics-informed AI for microgrid and battery optimization to address the most pressing challenges in the Department of the Air Force (DAF). The award extends a platform already running across large-scale energy infrastructure into battery storage and grid management, just as a historic wave of new demand hits the grid.

The Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX have partnered to streamline the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) process by accelerating the small business experience through faster proposal to award timelines, changing the pool of potential applicants by expanding opportunities to small business and eliminating bureaucratic overhead by continually implementing process improvement changes in contract execution. The DAF began offering the Open Topic SBIR/STTR program in 2018 which expanded the range of innovations the DAF funded and now, Geminus will start its journey to create and provide innovative capabilities that will strengthen the national defense of the United States of America.

Geminus is the AI orchestration layer for intelligent twins. Until now, digital twins were bespoke projects that were built by hand, calibrated once, and out of date the moment the real system changed. Geminus makes them repeatable, reliable, and rapid, grounded in physics, aware of their own uncertainty, and fast enough to optimize live operations, even on systems that age and change.

"Every digital twin used to be a bespoke project, so most industrial systems never got one," said Greg Fallon, CEO of Geminus. "We made intelligent twins repeatable, reliable, and fast enough to act on in real time. Storage is where the grid's biggest problem gets solved or gets stuck."

For the Air Force, Geminus will build an intelligent twin of a forward-deployed microgrid: diesel generators, lithium-ion batteries, and shifting mission loads. The goals are longer battery life, less fuel, and reliable power where it is mission critical, with Phase I opening the door to a follow-on pilot.

The views expressed are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of the Department of the Air Force, the Department of War, or the U.S. government.

About Geminus

Geminus is the AI orchestration layer for intelligent twins of mission critical systems. Grounded in physics and trusted by many of the world's largest energy companies, the platform helps operators simulate, predict, and optimize complex physical assets in real time, delivering double-digit performance gains.

About AFRL

Omnilert Introduces Dual-AI Platform to Deliver Context-Aware, Tailored Gun Detection for Customers
Image File
Original HTML

Layered AI approaches combine best-of-breed firearm detection with context to enable customer-specific decision-making and lay the foundation for future AI applications

LEESBURG, Va., Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Omnilert, the leading provider of AI-powered gun detection and automated emergency response technology, today introduced a next-generation dual-AI platform designed to open new opportunities for safety applications and give customers unprecedented capability to customize the technology to match their needs.

The new platform brings together two complementary forms of artificial intelligence: Omnilert's primary data-centric neural network and a secondary Contextual AI. The combination of best-of-breed firearm detection with massively extensible Contextual AI allows for more accurate detection and specialized workflows. Both AIs benefit from Omnilert's 100% organic approach to AI training and exposure to a large operational customer base. Furthermore, unlike many large-scale AIs, Omnilert's Contextual AI keeps all data private to the customer, a key requirement for many organizations.

"The visual characteristics of a firearm do not change because it appears at a school, hospital, corporate campus, manufacturing facility or public venue," said Dave Fraser, CEO of Omnilert. "The operational meaning of that firearm, however, can be very different. Our Primary Detection AI identifies potential firearms in camera feeds, while our Contextual AI applies intelligence specific to the environment. Together, they transform gun detection from a single-purpose alert into a foundation for increasingly valuable security intelligence."

One Firearm Detection AI Across Every Industry

Omnilert's Primary Detection AI is purpose-built to identify visible firearms in compatible live security camera feeds across a wide range of environments.

This layer is intentionally consistent across industries. Its purpose is to answer a universal question:

Is a potential firearm visible within the camera's field of view?

The core task of identifying a visible firearm remains the same across industries, even though the operational context surrounding a detection may differ. Omnilert's Primary Detection AI provides the common detection foundation across these environments.

The technology works with customers' existing compatible security cameras, enabling organizations to add proactive firearm detection without replacing their broader video infrastructure.

Once a possible firearm is detected, images, video, location information and other event intelligence can be routed for human verification and used to support the organization's established emergency response procedures.

Contextual AI Adds Industry and Customer-Specific Intelligence

Although the fundamental detection task remains consistent, no two industries or organizations operate exactly alike.

A school district may need to account for ROTC activities, school resource officers, law enforcement training and other situations in which authorized firearms may appear.

A healthcare organization may have armed law enforcement officers, security personnel and different operating conditions across emergency departments, patient areas and administrative facilities.

An enterprise may operate corporate offices, manufacturing facilities, distribution centers and remote sites, each with different security considerations and authorized personnel.

Public venues, transportation systems, government facilities and critical infrastructure environments also have their own operating conditions, security roles and response requirements.

Omnilert's Contextual AI layer is designed to apply industry- and customer-specific context to firearm detections without changing the underlying firearm detection model.

Contextual AI analyzes video captured before and after a detection to develop a deeper understanding of the scene and the activity surrounding the event. This analysis provides additional insight, situational intelligence and context to help trained personnel evaluate what is happening beyond the detection itself.

While the Primary Detection AI determines whether a potential firearm is visible, the Contextual AI helps address additional questions:

- What could the detection mean in this type of environment?

- Is there a known or authorized circumstance that may explain it?

- What additional context may help a trained reviewer evaluate the event?

- How should the detection connect with the organization's established procedures?

- What intelligence can be developed beyond the initial firearm detection?

This interaction creates a new model for AI gun detection. Primary Detection AI identifies a potential firearm. Contextual AI adds industry- and customer-specific intelligence to help trained personnel evaluate what that detection means within the environment.

Available Capabilities Support Customer-Specific Policies and Workflows

Omnilert's Alert Customization, Advanced and Contextual Filters, and Pause capabilities help organizations apply predefined policies and controls to the communication and handling of firearm detection events within the dual-AI platform.

These capabilities allow organizations to configure the platform around known operating conditions, authorized-firearm scenarios and established response procedures. Configurations are defined in advance, helping customers create consistent, governed and repeatable processes.

Alert Customization

Alert Customization enables organizations to align detection communications and response controls with their established chain of command, stakeholder roles, locations and security procedures.

During implementation, customers can define how verified event information should be distributed, which detection media should be included for different stakeholder groups and which authorized users should have access to specific incident response controls.

For example, an organization may establish one notification package for its central security team, another for local leadership and another for external response stakeholders. These predefined configurations help ensure each audience receives information appropriate to its responsibilities without requiring the communication structure to be created during an event.

Alert Customization can be configured around:

- Predefined recipient groups

- Approved communication paths

- Images, video, location information and other media included with notifications

- User permissions and response authority

- Location-specific procedures

- Downstream communications and connected system actions

- The organization's established escalation model

This allows the intelligence produced by Omnilert's AI to move through a structured response process aligned with the customer's approved operating procedures.

Advanced and Contextual Filters

Advanced and Contextual Filters allow customers to apply known operational context to scenarios involving authorized firearms.

Depending on the organization, these situations may include ROTC activities, armed security personnel, law enforcement response, planned system testing or active-threat training exercises.

Organizations can establish in advance how events associated with these known scenarios should be handled. Some may choose to continue receiving notifications for these events to help confirm that the detection system is operating. Others may suppress those notifications or manage them separately according to approved policies.

The objective is not to weaken the universal firearm detection capability. It is to supplement that capability with the specialized context required to distinguish among different operating situations.

Pause

Pause gives authorized users temporary, location-specific control when firearms are expected to be visible during a planned activity.

A customer can pause event delivery for selected cameras or locations for a defined period. Detection operations remain active across unaffected cameras and facilities.

This provides a bounded, temporary method for handling authorized activities without permanently changing the organization's detection configuration.

Industry Specialization Without Sacrificing Operational Rigor

Omnilert's Contextual AI approach is designed to account for differences among customer environments while preserving consistency, human oversight and clearly established procedures.

Industry- and customer-specific configurations can be supported through defined permissions, documented workflows, approved escalation logic and auditable system activity.

Human judgment remains central to the process. The additional intelligence gives trained personnel greater context for evaluating a potential firearm event without removing human accountability from a life-safety decision.

"Industry specialization should not mean compromising the consistency or integrity of the firearm detection capability," Fraser said. "It means preserving a strong detection foundation while making the intelligence surrounding that detection more relevant to the environment. That intelligence can then move through communications and response procedures that have already been defined, governed and tested."

A New Paradigm for AI Gun Detection

The first generation of visual gun detection primarily focused on whether artificial intelligence could recognize a firearm and deliver an alert.

Omnilert's dual-AI approach reflects a broader vision for the category. In this new paradigm, detection becomes the beginning of an expanding intelligence process rather than the final output of an isolated AI model.

The Primary Detection AI layer identifies a potential firearm in the camera feed. The Contextual AI layer provides an extensible foundation for applying industry-specific context, knowledge of the customer's environment and additional event intelligence to that detection.
