Angel Investor Forum leads round as Urologic Design prepares for first-in-human study

BRANFORD, CT, Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Urologic Design, a start-up commercializing innovations in urology care, today announced the closing of a $1.2M pre-seed fundraise. The equity funding will help the company develop its first product, a patented medical device for managing urinary incontinence. The investment will also support continued R&D activities, regulatory work, and preparation for the company's first-in-human clinical study.

The oversubscribed round was led by Angel Investor Forum, Connecticut's primary angel group, and joined by HBS Alumni Angels of Boston, Haven Founders Fund, Connecticut Innovations, and Yale Angels, in addition to several individual investors.

"AIF invests in companies addressing meaningful unmet needs with differentiated solutions," said Matthew Stannard, Life Sciences Lead at Angel Investor Forum. "Urologic Design impressed us with its approach to bridging the gap between absorbent products and surgery for managing urinary incontinence. We are excited to support the company as it advances toward first-in-human testing, an important step on the path to commercialization."

The funds will enable Urologic Design to further refine and test its first productâa urethral occlusion device for men. The company has already developed a working prototype, secured IP protection, and conducted extensive bench testing. Preparations are beginning for an initial clinical study involving a small cohort of men with stress urinary incontinence.

"For the 25 million people living with urinary incontinence in the United States, the available options are uncomfortable, cumbersome, and difficult to incorporate into everyday life," says Dr. David Hesse, Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Urologic Design. "We founded Urologic Design to develop a simple, temporary solution that gives people greater dignity, control, and confidence in managing leakageâall while fitting naturally into their daily lives."

egnite, Pathway Labs and Stamford Health Launch First-of-Its-Kind Pilot Using ECG-Based AI to Help Clinicians Identify and Manage Structural Heart Patients
Image File
Original HTML

egnite's CardioCare® Platform is deploying Pathway Labs' recently cleared ECG algorithm at Stamford Health to more effectively prioritize and coordinate care for echo-ready patients.

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- egnite, Inc., a technology company advancing guideline-directed cardiovascular care and real-world evidence, today announced a clinical pilot with Pathway Labs and Stamford Health (Stamford, Connecticut) to deploy Pathway's novel electrocardiogram (ECG) screening results within egnite's CardioCare® platform.

EchoNext, developed by Pathway Labs and recently cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, will analyze 12-lead ECG waveforms at Stamford Health for signals associated with a range of cardiac conditions â including signs of structural heart disease, heart failure, and pulmonary hypertension. It is the first AI tool cleared in the U.S. to screen for this breadth of structural heart conditions from a single ECG.

Detection alone does not change care. ECG-based screening can identify large numbers of patients who could warrant follow-up, but an AI flag is only one signal in a patient's record. The CardioCare platform, in use across more than 80 heart programs, helps close that gap. After EchoNext flags a study, the CardioCare platform evaluates the finding alongside the patient's longitudinal record â prior diagnoses, labs, and history â to surface a focused, pre-qualified group of patients likely to benefit from echocardiographic follow-up (echo-ready patients) within the workflows care teams already use. Because CardioCare tracks each patient from initial flag through imaging, evaluation, and treatment decision, the pilot will also measure the downstream clinical impact of ECG-based screening â including echo completion rates and time to specialist evaluation. CardioCare is designed to integrate screening outputs from multiple sources into a single clinical workflow; Pathway Labs is the first algorithm partner to go live.

"AI can identify patients at risk, but that's only the first step. The real challenge is making sure those patients receive the appropriate follow-up evaluation and treatment without creating additional burden for already busy clinical teams. CardioCare is designed to bridge that gap by providing the clinical context and workflow needed to move patients efficiently from detection to diagnosis and, ultimately, appropriate treatment," said Rahul Sharma, MD, MBBS, FRACP, Director of Structural Interventions and Associate Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Stanford Health Care, and Senior Medical Advisor of egnite. "This pilot with Pathway Labs is exciting because it will allow us to evaluate the entire care pathway to quantify how this AI can meaningfully improve real-world patient care."

"The team at Stamford Health is excited to bring this novel technology to our patients and strengthen how we screen for heart disease. Since 2022, we've used the CardioCare platform to identify and evaluate nearly 300 patients with significant heart disease who were not otherwise on a path to treatment," said Arzhang Fallahi, MD, Director of Structural Heart, Stamford Health. "Bringing Pathway Labs' AI-enabled ECG screening into our program extends that approach to the tens of thousands of ECGs we perform each year, giving us the chance to catch heart disease even earlier."

"This new and exciting algorithm will vastly expand our current AI programs in cardiac imaging and improve quality of care for our patients," said David Hsi, MD, Chief of Cardiology and Co-Director of Heart & Vascular Institute at Stamford Health.

"This technology started as a research effort and has demonstrated strong patient impact in the FDA validation studies. Partnering with egnite lets us validate the algorithm in real-world practice across several health systems â and we're energized that Stamford Health is the first. egnite's clinical workflow infrastructure and reach across 80+ heart programs make them the ideal partner to take this from regulatory milestone to the bedside," said Pierre Elias, MD, CEO of Pathway Labs.

Edwards Lifesciences is contributing funding to the pilot as part of a collaboration with egnite and Pathway Labs to advance earlier identification of patients with structural heart disease.

About egnite, Inc.

egnite, Inc. is a technology company advancing guideline-directed cardiovascular care and real-world evidence. egnite's CardioCare® platform is deployed at more than 80 heart programs, drawing on data from more than 1,200 cardiovascular care facilities in its network, to identify and prioritize cardiovascular patients. CardioCare combines practical AI, clinical logic aligned to ACC/AHA guidelines, and workflow integration to help hospitals move more patients into evidence-based care pathways. The egnite Registry, built on de-identified EHR data from approximately 15.7 million patients and 6 million echo reports, gives life sciences and research teams a longitudinal view of the patient journey. Process orchestration leader earns highest unclassified level of authorization to deliver secure, intelligent automation for mission-critical warfare operations

MCLEAN, Va., Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Appian today announced that the Appian Defense Cloud (ADC) achieved Impact Level 5 (IL5) Provisional Authorization to Operate (PA) from the United States Department of War (DOW). Building on Appian's IL5 Appian Government Cloud (AGC) offering, this accreditation enables DOW agencies to deploy mission-critical workloads using Appian's intelligent process automation innovations with enterprise-grade security.

"Achieving IL5 for our next generation platform - ADC marks a significant milestone for Appian in providing the DOW with mature and secure intelligent process automation to support warfighter operations," said Michael Beckley, Chief Technology Officer at Appian. "The production-ready platform represents an evolution of Appian's long-standing defense capabilities, bringing modern agentic intelligence and process orchestration directly to mission operations with enterprise-grade guardrails."

Appian's defense heritage began with its contract to architect Army Knowledge Online (AKO) more than two decades ago, which grew into one of the world's largest military intranets. As one of the first cloud service providers to achieve FedRAMP authorization in 2015, Appian has demonstrated continuous mastery of meeting continuous monitoring and security compliance requirements across public sector environments.

This latest designation recognizes the operational maturity of the Appian Platform and the DOW's continued trust for it to provide industry-leading security and availability across high-impact warfare operations. With IL5 designation, ADC can store and process the DOW's highest-sensitivity unclassified information, mission-critical data, and unclassified national security systems.

Scale and deployment across US defense

Appian's defense footprint scaled almost 4x in deployment volume over the last 12 months. Today, Appian supports:

- 2,000,000+ active DOW & IC users relying on the platform for daily operations.

- 100+ mission platforms running mission-critical automation.

- Supporting key operational communities, including contract writing, legal case management, intelligence and security, foreign military sales, and logistics and maintenance.

Key fielded capabilities include 12 prominent Army programs in production, including the Total Army Combat and Training Munitions Information System (TACTMIS) for the US Army. Created in 110 days from contract award to support more than 10,000 active users worldwide, TACTMIS delivers speed and value for training and operational missions. United Premier Soccer League Names Corgi Insurance Its Official Insurance Partner

The partnership provides comprehensive insurance coverage to more than 900 Member Clubs and 37,000 registered participants nationwide.

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Corgi Insurance, an AI-native insurance carrier and financial infrastructure company, announced a three-year partnership with the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL), naming Golden by Corgi the league's official insurance and protection partner.

Effective September 30, 2026, the partnership provides insurance coverage for the UPSL, its more than 900 Member Clubs, and approximately 37,000 registered players, coaches, and officials across sanctioned competitions nationwide.

Through Golden, Corgi is bringing its integrated insurance infrastructure to one of the largest club soccer leagues in the United States, simplifying how organizations obtain coverage, manage risk, and handle claims.

Beyond insurance coverage, the partnership is designed to simplify the administrative processes that clubs and league officials navigate throughout the season.

Member Clubs will also have access to the Golden Standard, a safety and risk management resource hub providing expert-backed guidance to help organizations maintain safer playing environments.

"UPSL is one of the largest club soccer platforms in the country, and it deserves a program built for how it actually operates," said Mike T. Brown, Executive Partner at Golden by Corgi. "As a full-stack carrier, we do better when the sport stays safe, so we are with UPSL and its clubs all year, not just at renewal."

The UPSL partnership is the latest in a series of national league and governing body partnerships established by Golden in 2026 as Corgi continues to expand its insurance offerings across new industries.

UPSL Member Clubs can access information about their coverage, request certificates of insurance, and report incidents at premier.upsl.com/insurance.

Former Philips Latin America CEO Fabia Tetteroo-Bueno Joins Lapsi Health / Keikku Board to Lead Latin American Expansion

The first woman to lead Philips in Latin America brings more than 20 years of global healthcare leadership to Keikku.

AMSTERDAM, Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Lapsi Health, the Dutch clinical AI company behind Keikku, today announced the appointment of Fabia Tetteroo-Bueno to its Board of Directors. The former Senior Vice President and General Manager of Philips Latin America will guide Lapsi's strategy and partnerships as Keikku scales across the region.

The appointment follows major moves for Keikku in Latin America, from its office in Santiago to its collaborations with the SMC and SOMEIC.

A Global Leader With Deep Roots in Latin America

Born in Brazil, Tetteroo-Bueno built her career across three continents at Royal Philips. In 2020 she became Senior Vice President and General Manager of Philips Latin America, the first woman to lead the company in the region, and steered its healthcare strategy through the COVID-19 pandemic with a clear mission: widening access to quality care. She later held senior global commercial roles at Philips, including Head of Global Sales for the Software business.

In Their Words

"Fabia has spent her career proving that health technology only matters when it reaches people," said Jhonatan Bringas Dimitriades, MD, CEO and co-founder of Lapsi Health. "Having her on our board as Keikku deepens its presence across the region is a turning point for us."

"I joined Lapsi Health because I believe validated, certified clinical technology belongs in Latin America, not only in the U.S. and Europe," said Fabia Tetteroo-Bueno. "Keikku is CE-certified and built to the highest standards of safety and quality, and I want doctors across the region to have access to that same rigor."

Why Latin America, Why Now

Latin America is one of Keikku's fastest-growing markets. There, Keikku leads with three offerings built for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking clinicians:

- Keikku Scribe, ambient AI that turns patient conversations into structured clinical notes in real time.

- Keikku Reference, AI-powered clinical decision support at the point of care.

- Keikku Telemedicina, the same tools for virtual consultations.

"Behind Keikku is a platform that takes over documentation and paperwork, giving clinicians back what matters most: time with their patients," Tetteroo-Bueno added. "I believe deeply in this technology and in the roadmap ahead, and I'm proud to support Lapsi in bringing it to Latin America."

About Lapsi Health and Keikku

Founded in 2022 in Amsterdam, Lapsi Health builds Keikku, a clinical AI platform that combines an FDA-cleared ambient microphone system with an AI Suite for documentation, clinical reference and auscultation. Lapsi is ISO 13485 certified, its AI Scribe is CE MDR Class I, and Keikku is deployed at leading institutions in Europe and the USA.

Turner, Mason & Company Releases Four Fall Energy Market Outlook Reports
Image File
Original HTML

DALLAS, Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas-based consultancy Turner, Mason & Company today announced the release of its Fall 2026 Outlooks on the energy market, providing medium- and long-term analysis of crude and refined products, heavy crude markets, renewable fuels and regulations and worldwide refinery construction.

Published each spring and fall, Turner, Mason & Company's Outlooks combine market data, project intelligence and fundamental analysis to evaluate supply and demand, trade flows, regulatory developments, refining margins and investment trends.

The four Fall 2026 Outlooks provide actionable data and fundamental analysis across key areas of the industry:

- Crude and Refined Products, examining how geopolitical disruption, secure logistics, inventory rebuilding and emerging-market demand are reshaping crude and refined-product balances.

- Regulatory and Renewable Fuels, assessing evolving biofuel policy and regulation, RIN and RVO dynamics, and the outlook for ethanol, biomass-based diesel, renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel.

- Global Heavy Crude Oil Market, evaluating regional production and export availability, including Canadian growth and TMX-related flows and the potential recovery of Venezuelan production.

- Worldwide Refinery Construction, tracking announced and probable refinery projects and their timing, crude slates, product yields and capital-cost trends.

"Crude availability means little if supply cannot move safely, reliably and cost-effectively," said Sandeep S. Sayal, vice president of research and consulting. "Between geopolitical turmoil, shifting trade flows and the impact of Canada's TMX expansion, market fundamentals are pivoting toward Western Hemisphere heavy crude. For refiners, feedstock decisions now hinge on route security, freight and logistical flexibility just as much as quality and price."

While logistics inefficiencies, inventory rebuilding and energy-security premiums may persist, the Outlooks do not assume that today's disruptions permanently alter long-term supply-and-demand trends; more information about the Fall 2026 reports from Turner, Mason & Company can be found under the subscriptions section at turnermason.com.

About Turner, Mason & Company

Based in Dallas and Houston, Turner, Mason & Company provides technical, commercial and strategic consulting services to clients globally in the crude oil, midstream, refining, refined products and biofuels industries.
