Scania and Prinoth in partnership to electrify snow groomers

SÖDERTÄLJE, Sweden, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Scania and Prinoth announce long-term partnership to accelerate the electrification of snow groomers. The partnership builds on an existing collaboration around winter operations, and what started with the Husky E-Motion, is now expanding to include the latest addition Leitwolf E-Motion.

- Scania has signed a long-term agreement with Italian manufacturer Prinoth, part of the HTI Group (High Technology Industries)

- The partnership will support the electrification of snow groomer models: Husky E-Motion and Leitwolf E-Motion

- Scania's Core 800 battery packs will power the Husky E-Motion and the newly introduced Leitwolf E-Motion

Snow groomers operate in demanding environments, requiring high performance, durability, and reliability. Scania will supply its Core 800 battery packs, selected to meet these challenges and delivering robust performance based on years of experience in electrified off-road and industrial applications.

"Collaborating with Prinoth is an exciting challenge for us, as it involves deploying our battery technology in extremely demanding conditions. Snow groomers operate in very low temperatures and steep terrain, moving heavy volumes of snow. This requires batteries that can deliver high power, withstand cold climates, and handle vibrations. We are proud that our technology has been recognised through this long-term agreement," says Elin Åkerström, Managing Director, Scania Industrial Batteries.

The partnership builds on an existing collaboration between the two companies, that started with Husky E-Motion, the world's first market-ready fully electric snow groomer, introduced in 2022. Since its launch, the machine has been successfully deployed across multiple markets, including Norway, France, Italy, UK, and the United States. The Core 800 battery has been used in the Husky E-Motion since 2023, demonstrating strong performance, seamless integration, and reliability in demanding winter conditions. The successful collaboration has now evolved into a long-term partnership.

The second machine is the Leitwolf E-Motion, recently introduced by Prinoth. This model is equipped with Scania Core 800 battery packs in top and side orientation, configured to meet higher energy and power requirements, further expanding the electrification of heavy-duty snow grooming operations.

Scania's Core 800 is a lithium-ion battery pack with an installed energy of 97 kWh and high energy density. Its modular design enables flexible installation and scalability, with systems ranging from 21 kWh up to 624 kWh. The battery features integrated liquid cooling, advanced safety architecture, and a proprietary Battery Management System, ensuring reliable operation, long service life, and optimised performance in harsh environments.

"At Prinoth, we have chosen to continue our collaboration with Scania because of the high quality of their battery systems, which we have tested in some of the most challenging environmental conditions. Scania's team has contributed deep technical expertise and a strong commitment to meeting our needs, while working together with us to continuously improve our products," says Roberto Pegoraro, Head of R&D Snow Groomers.

Scania's industrial battery systems are already used across a wide range of applications, including mining, construction, agriculture, and logistics vehicles, as well as energy storage solutions and airport ground support equipment. The partnership with Prinoth further strengthens Scania's position as a provider of sustainable electrification solutions for demanding industrial segments.

Cherokee Cablevision Deploys Teleste Luminato X32 for MDU Television Delivery

Cherokee Cablevision has deployed Teleste's Luminato X32 Edge QAM platform to deliver linear television to multi-dwelling units (MDUs). Supplied through Mega Hertz, the compact platform combines remote management with maintenance-free operation.

TURKU, Finland, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The North Carolina operator is expanding its fiber network alongside improvements to its cable infrastructure. Television remains part of its offering as the network develops, with X32 now serving its MDU video requirements.

"For our MDU deployments, we wanted a solution that was straightforward to deploy, integrate into our network and manage remotely," said Lester Brackett, Chief Technology Officer of BalsamWest FiberNet and Cherokee Cablevision. "The Luminato X32 allowed our team to take our IP-delivered video services and efficiently deliver them over the existing coax infrastructure within the property. The flexibility and ease of deployment made it a good fit for this application."

Luminato X32 converts incoming IP video streams into QAM signals for distribution over a building's coaxial network. Remote configuration and monitoring allow operators to manage the equipment centrally, bringing visibility and control to video delivery across individual properties.

Luminato X32 combines maintenance-free operation with a compact, fanless design for wall or rack installation. It brings Teleste's established Luminato broadcast technology to building-level deployments across fiber and HFC networks.

"The move toward fiber does not mean every television service has to become app-based," said Steve Condra, Senior Vice President of North America Sales for Teleste. "Broadcast can sit alongside broadband and streaming, giving operators different ways to meet a property's needs. X32 makes that approach practical at the building level, and we are pleased to support Cherokee Cablevision together with Mega Hertz."

SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia celebrates its 10th anniversary with a decade of music, culture and unique experiences in Formentera

A CORUÑA, Spain , Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, marking a decade of creating one of the most distinctive festival experiences in the music calendar. From 2–4 October, the festival will return to Formentera for a special edition that looks back at the moments, artists and places that have shaped its story, while continuing to push the concept forward.

Under the theme of (re)discovering Posidonia, this year's edition will revisit some of the artists and locations that have become part of the festival's identity.

SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia has challenged the traditional festival format. Its line-up remains a secret until the festival begins, bringing together established artists and emerging international talent in intimate and unexpected locations. With attendance limited to just 350 people, music is only one part of the experience. Local gastronomy, beer culture, a deep connection with the island and a commitment to positive environmental impact all come together to create something far removed from a conventional festival.

Formentera at the heart of the experience

Formentera is more than simply the backdrop to SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia — it is at the very heart of the experience. Each edition offers attendees the opportunity to discover the island through live performances, land and sea routes and guided experiences, led by local experts who know the island best.

Across its first nine editions, the festival has organised more than 30 land and sea routes, working with over 50 local experts, while attendees have explored more than 60 kilometres on foot. The festival has also collaborated with more than 140 local businesses and organisations, while over 30 restaurants and chefs have contributed to a gastronomic programme centred around local produce.

This deep-rooted relationship with the island is also reflected in the festival's ongoing commitment to positive impact. SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia is the only music festival in the world to have achieved TRUE Zero Waste Platinum certification for three consecutive years, the highest level awarded by Green Business Certification Inc.

The festival has also been a zero-emissions event since 2021, while shared mobility initiatives, local partnerships and its ongoing support for the Save Posidonia Project contribute to protecting the island's natural environment, including the oceanic seagrass meadows that are vital to its ecosystem.

Over nine editions, SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia has welcomed 78 artists, hosted 83 concerts and 17 DJ sets, featuring artists including The Vaccines, Jorge Drexler, Roosevelt, Baiuca, Israel Fernández, Queralt Lahoz, Pongo, Crystal Murray, KABEAUSHÉ and Los Bitchos, among many others.

A decade on, the festival's journey demonstrates that it is possible to grow while retaining a sense of intimacy, creating meaningful connections with the places in which it takes place and generating cultural, social and environmental value.

Ten years after its first edition, SON Estrella Galicia Posidonia continues to champion a simple idea: there is another way to experience a festival — when music, place and people come together with a shared purpose.

Comporium Selects Teleste as Sole Supplier for Future HFC Upgrades and Network Management

The decision covers 1.8 GHz-capable ICON3000 and ICON4000 amplifiers, together with Argus NMS and VDM, for Comporium's future HFC modernization.

ROCK HILL, S.C., and TURKU, Finland, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Comporium, Inc., a diversified communications provider serving more than 145,000 customers across the Carolinas, has selected Teleste as the sole supplier of amplifiers and network management solutions for its future HFC upgrades following a competitive RFP process.

The selected platform combines Teleste ICON3000 line extenders and ICON4000 system amplifiers equipped with plug-in transponders, together with the Teleste Argus Network Management System and Virtual Device Manager (VDM).

Comporium's decision reflects the strengths of the complete platform. In the outside plant, the ICON amplifiers stood out for their RF performance, usability and speed of installation. In network operations, Argus, VDM and Teleste's amplifier telemetry were selected for their maturity, feature depth and operational value.

"During the field trial, we evaluated the amplifiers in our own plant and with the technicians who will install and maintain them," said Mike Deller, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Planning at Comporium. "The ICON3000 and ICON4000 exceeded the desired RF performance and stood out for their usability and speed of installation. That gave us confidence in Teleste as the amplifier platform for our future HFC upgrades."

The ICON amplifiers' plug-in transponders connect outside-plant telemetry to Teleste's management environment. VDM provides the virtualized device-management layer, while Argus brings centralized monitoring, alarms, diagnostics, remote control and device inventory into Comporium's operational workflows.

"Argus, VDM and Teleste's telemetry capabilities stood out for their maturity, feature depth and operational value," said Brian Bendt, Vice President of Network Services and Internet Planning & Development at Comporium. "The ICON amplifiers and the plug-in HMS transponders provide a standards-based foundation that integrates seamlessly with our network-management workflows. Together, these capabilities create a unified operational environment that gives our teams the visibility and the control they need."

"Comporium's decision is a strong endorsement of the complete platform," said Steve Condra, Senior Vice President of North America Sales for Teleste. "This was not a single-product selection. Comporium evaluated RF performance, field usability, telemetry and network management as one operational environment. Being chosen as sole supplier reflects the maturity of the platform and its ability to support the network strategy Comporium has defined. We are proud to have earned that confidence."

Future HFC upgrades and network expansion will use Teleste's ICON family of 1.8 GHz-capable amplifiers together with Argus and VDM. Deployment will follow Comporium's priorities as it advances its high-split modernization and prepares for a later transition to 1.8 GHz.

SOLA Biosciences Japan Receives AMED Grant to Advance SOL-257, Innovative Gene Therapy Aiming to Restore TDP-43 Function for ALS Patients

TOKYO and BOSTON, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- SOLA Biosciences Japan GK ("SOLA Japan"), the wholly owned Japanese subsidiary of Boston-based SOLA Biosciences Inc. (together, "SOLA"), announced that it has been awarded a grant of approximately 6 billion yen over five years by the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development ("AMED") under the Strengthening Program for Pharmaceutical Startup Ecosystem. The award was announced by AMED on June 5, 2026, and SOLA Japan is now advancing the program, which supports the development of SOL-257, SOLA's gene therapy program designed to restore the structure and function of misfolded TDP-43, a key pathogenic driver of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ("ALS").

Through the AMED-supported program, SOLA Japan will serve as a central development hub in Japan, working closely with the SOLA team in the United States and with academic institutions, clinical development organizations, manufacturing partners, investors, and other collaborators in Japan and globally. The program is supported by Curie.Bio, an AMED-registered venture capital firm, as lead investor, with UTEC (The University of Tokyo Edge Capital Partners) participating as a follow-on investor.

SOL-257 and JUMP70 Platform Technology

ALS is a devastating neurodegenerative disease with a high unmet medical need. In approximately 97% of ALS cases, TDP-43 is reported to become mislocalized, misfolded, and aggregated in motor neurons, contributing to loss of normal TDP-43 function and neurodegeneration.

SOL-257 was developed using SOLA's proprietary JUMP70 platform, which is designed to harness the cell's natural protein quality-control machinery to selectively recognize disease-associated misfolded proteins while preserving their normal counterparts. JUMP70 combines a disease-specific targeting domain with a protein quality-control activation domain to engage HSP70, a key molecular chaperone involved in protein repair and removal.

In SOL-257, this technology is designed to selectively target misfolded TDP-43 and promote restoration of proper protein folding and function. By addressing a central molecular pathology present in the vast majority of ALS patients, SOLA aims to develop SOL-257 as a potentially first-in-class, disease-modifying gene therapy. Under the AMED-supported program, SOLA seeks to advance SOL-257 toward human proof of concept in both the United States and Japan, establishing a strong foundation for global clinical development.

"We are deeply honored to receive this support from AMED and feel a profound responsibility to advance SOL-257 as efficiently and rigorously as possible," said Keizo Koya, Ph.D., Founder, CEO & President of SOLA Biosciences Inc. and SOLA Biosciences Japan GK. "For ALS patients and their families, time is extremely important. We will continue working closely with researchers, clinicians, investors, manufacturing partners, and pharmaceutical collaborators in Japan and the United States to bring an innovative new treatment to patients as quickly as possible."

Yuta Inokuchi, COO of SOLA Biosciences Japan GK, added, "This AMED award gives us an important opportunity to build a truly integrated Japan-U.S. development platform. Our goal is to combine Japan's scientific, clinical, and manufacturing strengths with SOLA's global development capabilities and create a strong path from innovative science to meaningful benefit for patients."

Two-day summit will bring together researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders to address transparency, fairness, and accountability in AI

PISCATAWAY, N.J., Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- IEEE, the world's largest technical professional organization and public charity dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity, today announced the 2026 IEEE Tech Summit: Ethical AI, taking place 1–2 October in Budapest, Hungary. The summit will convene AI researchers, policymakers, ethicists, and industry leaders to examine how artificial intelligence can be designed, governed, and deployed in ways that prioritize transparency, fairness, accountability, and societal benefit.

Held under the theme "Exploring Dimensions of Ethical AI in Technology," the two-day program will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, and breakout sessions covering critical topics such as algorithmic bias and fairness, AI policy and regulation, privacy and data responsibility, misinformation, and human-centered design. The summit will also host the IEEE Tech Summit Ethical AI Global Founders Showcase and Awards, spotlighting emerging innovators working to build responsible AI systems.

"As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries and societies alike, we have a shared responsibility to ensure it develops in a way that reflects our values of transparency, fairness, and accountability," said Dalma Novak, conference chair and IEEE fellow. "The IEEE Tech Summit: Ethical AI will bring together the diverse voices needed to translate ethical principles into practical action, and we're proud to host and shape this conversation."

The summit builds on IEEE's long-standing leadership and pioneering research in AI ethics, governance, and standardization — including extensive technical literature in IEEE Xplore® and foundational work through the IEEE Standards Association. Building on this deep foundation, IEEE's recent Technology Megatrends 2030 Report, drawing on insights from 168 technical experts across 38 countries, reinforces the urgency of ethical AI. The report found that the technologies most likely to scale at a societal level are those built on trust, explainability, and safe human–AI interaction — not those that simply move fastest, underscoring the critical need for human-centered guardrails across the global workforce.

Attendees will gain practical insights into building trustworthy AI systems, navigating evolving regulatory landscapes, and fostering the cross-border collaboration needed to ensure AI benefits society as a whole.

Registration is now open; those interested in attending can register at https://techsummit.ieee.org/ethical-ai-2026/.
