Egan-Jones Examines Rising Threats to Middle East Energy Chokepoints
Image File

NEW YORK, Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Egan-Jones released an analysis examining how relatively inexpensive missiles and drones have given Shiite groups leverage over the chokepoints that carry Middle East petroleum exports, and what that shift could mean for global trade and credit markets.

The commentary points to recent events as evidence. Yemen-based Houthis have taken control of Mayun, a strategic island in the Red Sea, and Saudi Arabia's cross-peninsula pipeline was shut after drones launched from Iraq struck it. Saudi Arabia has fought the Houthis for the past decade without success, which Egan-Jones attributes in part to Yemen's mountainous terrain and the persistence of the fighters.

Egan-Jones sets these developments against the trading system built over several centuries, in which surplus output moved by sea at low cost and petroleum exports later underpinned manufacturing worldwide. Shiite strongholds now sit at the major chokepoints for those exports, and weapons cheap enough to be used at scale have narrowed the gap between a small armed group and a state.

A military remedy looks unlikely, according to the firm. Prolonged campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq have made the United States reluctant to undertake similar engagements, the European Union is preoccupied with Ukraine, and China, India, and Japan, though exposed, can draw on other suppliers and are shifting toward electric vehicles. United States vessels cleared mines near the Strait of Hormuz, but Egan-Jones considers missile and drone attacks a continuing threat.

The current Western approach relies on economic pressure. Iran's currency weakened from roughly 186,500 per dollar in 2021 to about 2.3 million in September 2026, a loss of approximately 91.9 percent in dollar terms, though the firm cautions that currency deterioration alone does not guarantee political change.

Two paths follow. Egan-Jones suggests a negotiated arrangement covering the movement of petroleum, accompanied by wider nuclear proliferation in the Gulf, would be unpalatable but manageable over time. Sustained curtailment of regional energy exports would be far costlier, forcing adjustments in food production, which depends on petroleum-based fertilizer, and in transportation, and weighing on global output while sovereigns and other borrowers already strain to meet obligations. The firm publishes the analysis so institutional investors and risk managers can weigh those conditions early.

Leidos participates at U.S. Army's Reveille Forge 'permanent hackathon'

RESTON, Va., Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) continues helping the U.S. Army identify and address technology integration challenges sooner through its participation at Reveille Forge, the service's new enduring integration and testing environment.

Why it matters: Reveille Forge follows the Army's Operation Jailbreak exercise held earlier this year. It's intended to identify system interoperability challenges earlier in development, before technologies are deployed to soldiers in the field.

Expert perspective: "Operation Jailbreak showed how open architectures can help turn integration from a barrier into an advantage," said Matt Becker, Leidos Defense Sensors vice president and Operation Jailbreak Leidos representative. "Now, Reveille Forge gives the Army and industry an enduring environment to integrate early, test together and mature capabilities faster."

The big picture: Reveille Forge is designed to move Army integration from periodic events to a persistent "integrate-first" environment where government, industry and academia can test how technologies work together earlier.

- The effort also supports the Army's Modular Open Systems Approach, using open interfaces to help connect sensors, weapons and software from different providers and adapt as mission needs change.

What's next: Leidos plans to continue advancing open architectures, strengthening interoperability and helping mature integrated capabilities for future testing and operational use through ongoing participation in Reveille Forge.

Operation Jailbreak: Leidos recently completed Jailbreak Sprint 1.5 at Redstone Arsenal's Reveille Forge in Alabama, where the Army and industry continued integrating and hardening capabilities from the first Operation Jailbreak sprint, held in June at Fort Carson, Colorado.

During the Jailbreak sprints, Leidos:

- Demonstrated capabilities in approved test environments.

- Validated interoperability with approved Army systems.

- Tested tools focused on cybersecurity and information sharing.

- Worked with Army stakeholders to identify priorities for future testing.

Leidos systems included:

- Sprint 1.0 (Fort Carson): IFPC Inc 2, MXR and ALPS

- Sprint 1.5 (Redstone Arsenal): ALPS

- IFPC Inc 2: A mobile, ground-based weapon system capable of countering unmanned aerial vehicles and cruise missile threats.

- ALPS: The Army Long-Range Persistent Surveillance system uses passive, 360-degree sensing to detect aerial threats without revealing its position.

- MXR: An AI-enabled counter-drone radar designed to detect, track and identify small unmanned aerial systems in high-clutter environments.

The work also supports NorthStar 2030, Leidos' growth strategy focused on combining Defense Tech, mission expertise and integration capabilities to address complex customer challenges.

Reveal Technology Launches Farsight 2.0 With a Global World Model for the Tactical Edge
Image File

Operator-driven update enables authorized Army units to conduct geospatial analysis from all available sources

BOZEMAN, Mont., Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Reveal Technology Inc., a defense company building mission software for the tactical edge, announces the launch of Farsight 2.0, the latest version of its 3D mapping and terrain intelligence platform. The update introduces a global world model that pulls imagery from every available source into one continuously updated terrain picture, including imagery crossing command and control networks.

Farsight gives units imagery in an operational interface for geospatial analysis at the edge. With 2.0, units no longer depend on what they can collect themselves. Every authorized collection feeds the same model, so operators start from the most current terrain available and spend their time on analysis rather than on building the picture.

"Units have more imagery available than ever, but it's scattered across sensors, networks, and organizations, and an operator planning a mission doesn't have time to go find it all," said Garrett Smith, co-founder and CEO of Reveal Technology. "Farsight 2.0 brings every authorized source into one world model on the device. Our users asked for analysis from every source available to them, not just what they collected themselves, and that is what we delivered."

Farsight 2.0 reaches operators on an agile software timeline rather than a traditional programmatic cycle

Farsight 2.0 Updates:

Global world model: Drone, satellite, and sensor imagery from all available sources fuse into one terrain model that updates as new data arrives.

Authorized data sharing: Authorized Army users across units contribute to and build on the same model.

Autonomous asset tasking: Operators specify what they need, and Farsight tasks drones and manages the collection, reducing operator workload.

Offline model updates: Operators update and analyze the model in the field without a network connection.

Continuity with existing tools: Line-of-sight and viewshed analysis, HLZ and DZ assessments, AI-assisted route planning, and measurement tools remain available.

The update will be delivered across Reveal's existing Farsight user base, and newly fielded units will receive Farsight 2.0 at initial installation. The platform runs on hardware soldiers already use and integrates with Nett Warrior, the Army's soldier-worn situational-awareness and battle-command system.

The launch coincides with a new $9.5 million U.S. Army purchase order under Reveal's existing GSA IDIQ contract. The second delivery order supports procurement, distribution, training, and sustainment of Farsight for additional infantry brigades.

Tomato Products Wellness Council Reinvents Quality Standard with Launch of New Campaign
Image File
Original HTML

Tomato Wellness, a nonprofit voluntary association dedicated to promoting the health, exceptional taste and quality of the U.S. tomato products industry, created Field to Sealed for processors, i.e. pizza shop owners, restaurateurs, wholesalers and other foodservice professionals who care about the ingredients behind the food they serve.

The Field to Sealed emblem highlights the existing quality of tomatoes grown right here by family farmers. Farmers grow tomatoes to high standards and harvest the crop at peak ripeness before processors quickly can or jar the tomatoes, preserving the flavor, color and quality that professional kitchens rely on year-round.

"Chefs and restaurant operators take pride in the ingredients they serve and want to know where food comes from and who grows it," said Alec Wasson, Director of Tomato Wellness. "Field to Sealed celebrates that connection and gives operators a way to share the story from the farmers who grow the tomatoes to the kitchens that serve them."

Research from Tomato Wellness reinforces the qualities foodservice operators prioritize when selecting tomato products. Nearly nine in 10 consider shelf life (89%), suitability for recipes (88%), flavor intensity (87%) and natural colors and flavors (86%) important.

Canned and jarred tomatoes deliver on those priorities by capturing tomatoes at the moment of ripeness and sealing in peak-season flavor for year-round use. The process helps restaurants maintain consistent flavor, color and performance across recipes, while longer shelf life can help operators manage inventory and reduce food waste.

Field to Sealed brings that story to the pizza industry this month at Pizza Expo Columbus 2026 in Columbus, Ohio. Attendees are invited to visit Booth 202 to learn more about the campaign and share what taking pride in ingredients means to them.

The launch brings Field to Sealed beyond the product label through a pizza box promotional kit featuring campaign messaging and branding. Printable materials designed for table tents, menus and other point-of-sale applications give restaurants additional ways to showcase the emblem and share the story and quality behind the tomatoes they are committed to serving.

Learn more about Field to Sealed, the benefits of canned and jarred tomatoes and the people behind the products at FieldToSealedTomatoes.com, on Instagram or YouTube.

Beta Bionics (NASDAQ: BBNX) Faces Securities Fraud Class Action Amid iLet FDA Compliance

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Beta Bionics, Inc. (NASDAQ: BBNX) faces a securities class action, which seeks to represent investors who purchased or otherwise acquired shares of the company's common stock between July 30, 2025 and February 24, 2026.

The lawsuit follows a series of surprise revelations about the FDA's concerns over company's automated insulin delivery system ("iLet"), each of which sent the price of Beta Bionics shares sharply lower.

National shareholders rights firm Hagens Berman is investigating claims that Beta Bionics violated the federal securities laws and encourages Beta Bionics investors who suffered substantial losses to submit your losses now.

Class Period: July 30, 2025 – Feb. 24, 2026

Lead Plaintiff Deadline: Nov. 3, 2026

Beta Bionics (BBNX) Securities Class Action:

During the Class Period, the company and its management heavily promoted its iLet medical device as demanding "the least engagement from the user" and delivering "the most automated adaptation of any" automated insulin delivery system. Beta Bionics also assured investors that healthcare professionals "are seeing good results from their patients and becoming more comfortable prescribing the iLet[.]"

On October 28, 2025, Beta Bionics' management discussed their receipt of a Form 483 from the FDA after its inspection of Beta Bionics' iLet manufacturing, they called the 483 "primarily related to our customer complaint handling system," downplayed the inspection as "not unusual in our industry," and said "[w]e're confident that our new complaint handling system and reporting system meets or exceeds the expectations laid out by the agency in their Form 483 observations." CEO Sean Saint emphasized "[t]he 483 itself had nothing to do with the actual complaints being received[….] It had to do solely with the definition the reports being filed as complaints, and that's all."

The complaint alleges these and other statements misled investors because, unknown to them, Beta Bionics concealed its receipt of thousands of iLet safety complaints, including numerous life-threatening hypoglycemic events, and failed to investigate or report the events to the FDA as it was required to do.

By February 24, 2026, when the FDA published its January 28, 2026 WARNING LETTER to CEO Saint, investors learned the truth. The FDA, citing its inspection, was brutal:

- "Your firm failed to adequately analyze quality data, such as complaints, to identify existing and potential causes of nonconforming product or other quality problems[;]"

- "Your firm failed to implement corrective and preventative actions […] for complaints related to device malfunctions that led to serious adverse health outcomes[;]" and

- "Significant violations include […] [f]ailure to report to the FDA information […] no later than 30 calendar days after the day that your firm received or otherwise became aware of information, from any source, that reasonably suggests that a device that it markets may have caused or contributed to a death or serious injury[.]"

"We're focused on whether Beta Bionics may have intentionally misled investors by placing revenues ahead of patient safety," said Reed Kathrein, the Hagens Berman partner leading the firm's investigation.

If you invested in Beta Bionics and have substantial losses, or have knowledge that will assist the firm's investigation, submit your losses now »

Whistleblowers: Persons with non-public information regarding Beta Bionics should consider their options to help in the investigation or take advantage of the SEC Whistleblower program. Under the new program, whistleblowers who provide original information may receive rewards totaling up to 30 percent of any successful recovery made by the SEC.

ugee maker Launches: A Curated, AI-Powered, Kid-Friendly 3D Printing Community for Families and 3D Printing Beginners

HONG KONG, Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The consumer 3D printing industry has developed rapidly, placing high-speed, reliable desktop manufacturing hardware into hundreds of thousands of homes. Hardware has become faster and more affordable. However, the community ecosystem still leaves beginners stranded. Today's households face a frustrating dilemma: technical communities that lack safety and guidance for young beginners, or family-friendly platforms accessible only by buying a specific brand's hardware.

ugee maker introduces a third, easy-to-use, family-friendly option designed for parents, kids, and beginners. This community provides a collaborative space for shared creativity and discovery—allowing parents to explore curated, high-quality models and guide their kids through hands-on design, while giving newcomers a seamless, barrier-free entry into the world of 3D printing.

Curated & Print-Ready: A 3D Model Library You Can Trust

For novice makers, failed prints stemming from faulty 3D files are often the single biggest source of frustration. ugee maker eliminates this hurdle with a meticulously curated model library. Every official ugee file is professionally pre-tested and validated to ensure smooth, reliable printing across virtually all consumer-grade 3D printers. The library is built on three pillars: Seed Builds, where officially tuned and validated models serve as the foundation for hassle-free printing; User Model Uploads, encouraging the community to share original creations; and Artist Models, developed in collaboration with professional artists to deliver high-aesthetic designs.

Unlike massive public repositories whose unvetted catalogs require tedious searching and risk exposing families to unmoderated content or overly complex designs, ugee maker delivers a strictly moderated, kid-safe 3D model library. With weekly official releases alongside standout contributions from global creators, the catalog offers endless inspiration—ranging from interactive playsets and seasonal projects to STEM-focused models. All designs are packaged in universal STL format, delivering a truly guesswork-free printing experience.

ugee maker model library does not exist in isolation—it is deeply integrated with the broader ugee ecosystem. The ugee ufun app has already provided users worldwide with a convenient mobile management experience and built a sizable community of families and young makers. Building on this foundation, ugee maker further strengthens moderation mechanisms and expands content categories, offering users more exquisite and immersive model choices. Users can browse and select models through ugee maker, download them to ugee ufun, and print them via the ugee Funbox 3D printer—creating a seamless journey from inspiration discovery and model selection to finished output.

AI-Driven, Fun, and Customizable: How CreateLab Inspires Next-Gen Makers

Recognizing that conventional parametric CAD software alienates younger learners and novices, ugee maker introduces Create Lab. It turns 3D creation into an engaging, gamified experience—requiring zero prior CAD or 3D modeling experience. Through a suite of playful, intuitive tools, CreateLab nurtures children's spatial reasoning, problem-solving skills, and creativity from day one.

A standout feature is "AI Magic," powered by a strategic partnership with leading generative 3D platform Meshy AI. Children can simply sketch their wildest ideas—from dinosaurs and mythical monsters to spaceships—and upload their images to CreateLab, which automatically transforms the doodles into print-ready 3D model files. This creates an open-ended creative workflow that brings children's drawings to life as physical objects on any standard 3D printer.

Meanwhile, "Fun Playground" , uses a modular drag-and-drop interface, this mode allows users to assemble and personalize ready-to-use models. In themed experiences like "Garden World," kids can freely select and position flowers to design their dream garden. This hands-on interaction helps children naturally grasp foundational concepts such as 3D coordinate space and volume—delivering an approachable, edutainment-driven entry point into the 3D world.

Kid-Friendly and Parent-Approved: A Design That Welcomes Everyone

ugee maker is built from the ground up with young makers and their parents in mind. The platform features a child-friendly interface with playful UI design, colorful banners, and intuitive icons that make navigation effortless for even the youngest users. Core actions—such as importing a model and sharing a creation—are kept as simple as possible, with preset text options and cute emojis that lower the barrier for kids and parents to comment and engage. For first-time users, a dedicated onboarding guide and a comprehensive support center provide step-by-step tutorials, technical Q&A, and FAQs, ensuring that both kids and parents can get started with confidence and ease. Every detail is designed to make 3D printing feel approachable, safe, and fun for the whole family.

Launching Events and Future Outlook

ugee maker is officially live with an exclusive $1,000 prize giveaway! Users who sign up for a ugee maker account will be entered into the lucky draw for a chance to win!

Looking ahead, ugee maker will continue to expand its beginner-first ecosystem. The platform's roadmap includes an expanded suite of design tools within CreateLab, an interactive "Maker Square," a technical Q&A forum, a points-and-rewards system to incentivize uploads, and recurring 3D printing challenges with prizes.
