Medsender Surpasses 100 Specialty Practices on ModMed® EMA
Image File

Specialty practices are adopting dedicated software to track every referred patient from incoming fax to scheduled appointment.

NEW YORK, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Medsender, the fax and referral management platform for specialty medical practices, today announced that more than 100 practices running ModMed® EMA now use Medsender to manage incoming referrals, 16 months after the company launched its EMA integration.

Every day, specialty practices lose referred patients they never knew they had. Faxes arrive unsorted. Referrals pile up. Staff spend hours processing documents by hand while referred patients slip through the cracks and book elsewhere. Medsender was built to fix that.

Specialists receive more than 100 million referral requests every year in the United States, yet only half of those referrals are ever completed. For specialty practices where referred patients make up a significant share of new patient volume, that gap hits the bottom line. Mismanaged referrals can cost practices up to 10% of their revenue, and most practices can't measure their losses until they have a system that shows them.

Medsender integrates directly with ModMed EMA to automate the complete referral workflow. Medsender's AI reads every incoming fax, identifies referrals, labels and categorizes each document, and routes it to the right person before anyone on the team touches it. Its AI agent can process referrals autonomously. Referral coordinators can work from a single dashboard that tracks every referred patient from fax to scheduled appointment, with everything synced directly to ModMed EMA.

"Specialty practices are running sophisticated clinical operations, but most of them are still processing referrals manually. Spreadsheets, sticky notes, stacks of unsorted faxes. Every referral that is not acted on quickly is a patient another provider trusted you with, and that patient ends up scheduling elsewhere. Reaching more than 100 ModMed customers in 16 months tells us the market has been waiting for a dedicated solution. We are just getting started," said Zain Qayyum, founder and co-CEO of Medsender.

For independent practices where growth outpaces headcount, Medsender closes the gap without requiring new hires. Front-office staff stop sorting faxes by hand and start working from a live, organized referral queue. Referral coordinators gain full visibility across every location, so referrals aren't overlooked, and patients aren't left unscheduled because no one had time to follow up. The result is faster referral processing, higher conversion rates, and a front office that can finally keep up with the volume the practice has worked hard to build.

The impact is measurable at practices already running Medsender alongside ModMed EMA. Anne Arundel Plastic Surgery and Dermatology, one of the largest plastic surgery and dermatology practices in the country, with more than 110 locations and 325 providers, is just one of them.

"Medsender created visibility into a significant referral flow that had been getting lost in manual processes and armed our teams with easy-to-use tools to quickly convert those referrals into appointments. One region increased its referral conversion rate from 20% to 62%, adding hundreds of new appointments per week," said Brittany Dimitri, director of operations support, Anne Arundel Plastic Surgery and Dermatology.

Practices using Medsender report up to 85% faster referral processing and two to three times more referred patients converting to scheduled appointments, without new hires. Practices can estimate what unscheduled referrals cost with Medsender's free Referral Leakage Calculator at https://medsender.com/referral-leakage-calculator.

Medsender's ModMed EMA integration is available to dermatology, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, gastroenterology, and ENT practices. Practices can book a 30-minute demo at medsender.com.

About Medsender

Medsender helps medical practices grow without adding staff. It's one integrated system that automatically processes every incoming fax, turns referrals into booked appointments through Agentic Referral Management, handles inbound patient calls, and helps practices recapture lost patients. Practices get full visibility from the first fax through to the scheduled appointment, with everything synced to their EHR. Medsender is HIPAA-compliant, SOC 2 Type II compliant, and integrates directly with ModMed EMA, athenaOne, NextGen, AdvancedMD, EZDERM, Tebra, and dozens of other EHR platforms. More than 1,000 clinics trust Medsender to manage their front-office workflows. Learn more at medsender.com.

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Allegheny Health Network (AHN) today announced that Nipun B. Merchant, MD, an internationally recognized surgical oncologist, researcher and healthcare executive, has been appointed chair of the network's Department of Surgery and its first surgeon-in-chief, effective February 2027.

The newly created surgeon-in-chief role reflects AHN's commitment to creating a more integrated model of surgical care across its growing network. Dr. Merchant's appointment as chair represents a broader investment in elevating the Department of Surgery to national prominence in patient care, education and research.

Dr. Merchant joins AHN from the University of Miami Health System and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, where his leadership spanned clinical care, scientific investigation and health system operations. He was the Alan S. Livingstone Professor of Surgery and served in senior leadership roles including Chief Surgical Officer, Executive Director of Perioperative Services and Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology. He was also Sylvester's Associate Director of Translational Research and founding Director of the Sylvester Pancreatic Cancer Research Institute, roles that brought together cancer care, translational science and program development.

As surgeon-in-chief, Dr. Merchant will serve as the senior physician executive for AHN's surgical enterprise, providing strategic oversight for surgical services across the network's hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. As chair of the Department of Surgery, he will lead the department's clinical, academic and strategic growth, with a focus on recruiting and developing outstanding faculty, expanding advanced surgical programs, strengthening education, and building its research enterprise. Working closely with physicians, nurses and operational leaders, he will help drive improvements in quality, safety, and patient experience.

"Bringing a leader of Dr. Merchant's caliber to AHN represents a significant milestone for our organization," said Bethany Casagranda, DO, MBA, chief medical officer at AHN and president of Allegheny Clinic. "His exceptional record as a surgeon, researcher, educator and leader will help us build on the strength of our surgical programs, expand our research mission and bring highly specialized care to more patients across the region."

A leading expert in gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancers, Dr. Merchant has dedicated his career to advancing the diagnosis and treatment of some of the most challenging forms of cancer. His research has focused on the biology of pancreatic cancer, including studies of its tumor microenvironment, cell signaling pathways and novel therapeutic approaches designed to personalize treatment and improve outcomes for patients.

During his tenure at the University of Miami, Dr. Merchant helped develop one of the nation's premier multidisciplinary pancreatic cancer programs. He has a long-standing record of continuous funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), authored more than 250 peer-reviewed scientific publications, and translated laboratory discoveries into innovative clinical trials for patients with gastrointestinal malignancies. He also leads a National Cancer Institute-funded training grant that prepares the next generation of surgeon-scientists.

Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles with the American College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology, Society of Asian Academic Surgeons, National Comprehensive Cancer Network and National Cancer Institute.

"I am honored to join AHN at such a pivotal time in its growth," said Dr. Merchant. "What drew me to AHN is the opportunity to build on an outstanding clinical foundation and create something truly distinctive across an integrated health system. I look forward to working with colleagues throughout the network to shape a Department of Surgery where exceptional patient care, education and discovery reinforce one another, and to develop the people and programs that will define the next chapter of surgery at AHN."

Dr. Merchant succeeds David Bartlett, MD, Director of the AHN Cancer Center and President of the Allegheny-Singer Research Institute (ASRI), who has served as Interim Chair of the Department of Surgery during the national search process.

"AHN is deeply grateful to Dr. Bartlett for his leadership, stewardship, and unwavering commitment to the department throughout this important period of transition. His guidance helped maintain the department's strong momentum while continuing to advance AHN's clinical, research, and academic missions," Dr. Casagranda said.

Stand and Deliver: Toro Unveils Two Stand-On Platforms at Equip Expo
Image File
Original HTML

Toro's first dedicated stand-on blower plus a redesigned GrandStand® HDM+ on display at Equip Expo

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Toro is standing up to the commercial landscaping industry's toughest productivity challenges at Equip Expo in Louisville, Kentucky from October 20-23, with the rollout of two new stand-on platforms designed to help crews do more with fewer operators.

The AeroMaster™, Toro's first dedicated stand-on blower, empowers landscape contractors to clear debris with more precision and speed than backpack or hand-held blowers. Plus, the popular stand-on GrandStand HDM+ gets a redesign that delivers increased power, agility and serviceability at a lower price tag to help landscape contractors combat rising operating costs without sacrificing efficiency.

"Designed directly with feedback from professional contractors, these new stand-on introductions put landscape pros in command of every job," says Jackson Gray, product marketing manager at Toro. "By pairing high-volume power and operator comfort with superior terrain visibility, these new stand-on machines give contractors a versatile way to get more jobs done in their day — with fewer interruptions."

AeroMaster™ 8100 CFM Stand-On Turbine Blower

Designed with Toro's proven turbine technology, the AeroMaster produces the highest CFM in its category, delivering up to 30% more airflow* than competitors in the space. At 8,100 effective CFM, the AeroMaster easily moves wet, stuck-on debris, making large cleanup jobs in the spring, fall or after storms fast and manageable.

The clutched turbine design allows the operator to quickly disengage the blower without shutting off the engine, keeping debris from blowing into unwanted areas. For even greater precision, intuitive fingertip controls allow the operator to move the nozzle 180 degrees seamlessly, making it easy to adjust airflow direction on the fly to push debris away from hardscapes, fence lines, and flower beds.

The nozzle itself is built for flexible job-site durability, flexing on impact instead of cracking, so it holds up against the daily abuse of curbs, trailer ramps and commercial cleanups. When it is time to move to the next job, the flexible nozzle flips up for easier transport and a smaller footprint on the trailer. Additionally, the AeroMaster features a toggle front axle engineered to pivot smoothly over uneven terrain, minimizing machine vibration and enhancing operator comfort throughout long shifts.

GrandStand® HDM+ Stand-On Mower

Toro's GrandStand Heavy-Duty Mini is getting a massive upgrade and a new — lower — price. The new GrandStand HDM+, available in 32-inch and 36-inch models, delivers a suite of major enhancements, including upgraded maneuverability, easier maintenance, and the highest horsepower in its category with a more accessible price.

Where competing compact mowers often compromise power and finish to meet a lower price point, the HDM+ combines a high-performance Kawasaki FX651V engine, Toro's legendary TURBO FORCE® cutting deck and strategic, oversized front casters to ensure unmatched cut quality without sacrificing performance.

Designed for contractors seeking stand-on efficiency in tight areas, the HDM+ maintains a narrow footprint that navigates gated entries and tight property boundaries with ease. The oversized 13-inch x 6.5-inch front casters pivot smoothly to give operators enhanced maneuverability and a comfortable ride while protecting delicate grass from compaction and turf tear.

The HDM+ is engineered for maximum uptime and reliability with tool-less access panels to the back of the mower, allowing technicians fast access to the engine and transmission components.

Horizon360® Business Management Software

Both machines are equipped to integrate seamlessly with Toro's business management solution Horizon360. This software helps landscape contractors drive more profits and increase business efficiency and effectiveness.

New features to the Horizon360 platform include:

- New Basic Tier: A new entry-level subscription option offers a lower-cost solution for contractors who only require essential management tools, such as streamlined invoicing and payment collection.

- Simplified Tracking Interface: The redesigned tracking page features a simplified interface that enables contractors to monitor their entire equipment fleet at a single glance.

- Enhanced Reliability: Updated tracking device firmware keeps equipment location and run-time data flowing continuously across all connected equipment.

- Upgraded Equipment Management: Refocused design efforts make setting up equipment, navigating fleet lists, and tracking preventive maintenance faster and more intuitive.

To see all of Toro's offerings in person, stop by indoor booth 7148 and outdoor booth 7600D at Equip Expo, or visit toro.com for more information.

Bulgin Introduces 6000 Series Hybrid Buccaneer Connectors for Power and Signal Connectivity
Image File
Original HTML

New rugged connectors combine power and signal contacts in a single compact interface for space-constrained applications

CAMBRIDGE, England, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Bulgin, an Infinite Electronics company and a leading manufacturer of environmentally sealed connectors and components, has expanded its 6000 Series Buccaneer range with new hybrid circular connectors that combine power and signal connectivity in a single rugged connector. Developed to meet growing connectivity demands in smaller devices such as test and measurement equipment, sensors and control systems, the new connectors provide a compact solution while retaining the rugged performance of the existing 6000 Series.

The 6000 Series Hybrid Buccaneer features two central power contacts rated at 16 A, alongside 3 A signal contacts. Three configurations with two, four or six signal contacts give designers flexibility to meet specific application requirements. By combining power and signal in a single housing, the connectors reduce space requirements and eliminate the need for separate power and signal cable routing.

"Modern design demands a smaller footprint without compromising performance," said Mark Berry, VP of Product & Portfolio Management at Infinite Electronics. "The 6000 Series Hybrid Buccaneer is a testament to our team's engineering precision. We successfully integrated high-current power and signal channels into one sealed interface, giving designers a streamlined solution that withstands tough environments."

The new range retains the proven design and rugged performance of Bulgin's existing 6000 Series Buccaneer circular connectors, including the same 30-degree push/pull locking mechanism and panel-mount options. The connectors are IP68-rated and have been tested at a depth of 10 meters for two weeks, providing reliable protection in demanding environments. They have also undergone salt mist, dust resistance and thermal resistance testing.

The new devices will be on display at electronica, November 10-13, along with other solutions for data centers, energy, drones and industrial automation at the Infinite booth 241 in Hall A3.

Slutty Vegan Names Its First-Ever Operating Franchisee

World-Famous Plant-Based Burger Brand's Founder Gifts Brooklyn Location to the General Manager Who Ran It for Five Years

ATLANTA, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Slutty Vegan, the world-famous, woman-owned plant-based burger brand founded by entrepreneur, author and reality-television star Pinky Cole Hayes, has named Destiny Correa its first-ever operating franchisee, officially converting the brand's Fulton Street location in Brooklyn, New York into its first operating franchised restaurant.

Correa spent nearly five years as General Manager of the Fulton Street location, helping build it into one of Slutty Vegan's flagship restaurants. In recognition of that determination and loyalty, Founder and CEO Pinky Cole Hayes gifted her the store outright, and Slutty Vegan waived both the initial franchise fee and the recurring marketing fee typically required of new franchise partners, in recognition of her years-long commitment to the brand.

"I walked into this store five years ago as a manager, and now I'm walking back in as the owner," said Correa. "Most people in this industry never get told that ownership is possible for them. Pinky told me it was, and then she helped make it a reality."

The Fulton Street location is now operating under Correa's ownership, building on the momentum of additional franchise deals the brand has already announced in other markets as it continues to expand nationally, including Washington, D.C., Detroit, Ohio and its home market of Atlanta.

"Destiny helped get Slutty Vegan Brooklyn up and running and has managed it beautifully ever-since," said Pinky Cole Hayes, Founder and CEO of Slutty Vegan. "She showed up every single day for five years and ran that store like it was already hers. Handing her the reins to own the store was a no-brainer and the right thing to do. She's proof that if you put in the hard work, Slutty Vegan will help you own something real."

Since launching in Atlanta in 2018, Slutty Vegan has grown from a viral burger concept into a nationally recognized brand known for bold flavors, high-energy customer experiences, and community impact. The brand's founder, Pinky Cole Hayes, is a best-selling author and philanthropist who built the brand from a single food truck into a cultural phenomenon. Cole Hayes has continued her rise to stardom this year as a cast member of Bravo's The Real Housewives of Atlanta, bringing her boldness and business savvy to one of television's most-watched franchises and introducing Slutty Vegan to millions of new fans.

Houston's Kreative Media Launches the Kreative Velocity System

Texas digital marketing agency introduces a revenue-focused growth system connecting strategy, creative, paid media, SEO, AI visibility, and website performance.

HOUSTON, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Kreative Media, a full-service digital marketing agency headquartered in Houston with locations across Texas, today announced the launch of the Kreative Velocity System, a performance-driven marketing framework designed to turn business goals and real performance data into smarter marketing decisions, strategic investments, and measurable business growth.

Most brands have marketing. Few have a system.

Rather than operating through disconnected campaigns or fixed strategies, the Kreative Velocity System continuously evaluates results, identifies opportunities, and shifts priorities toward the work with the greatest business potential. Each decision builds on previous performance, creating an adaptable approach to growth.

"Brands want to know what each dollar did," said Krista McDaniel, CEO of Kreative Media. "Our promise has always been bold creative, backed by data and built to produce results. The Kreative Velocity System is how we deliver on that consistently, so brands are built on purpose and every channel works toward the same number."

The methodology operates through four interconnected engines: Ad Velocity, optimizing paid media investment; Social Velocity, connecting audience insights with in-house creative production; SEO Velocity, expanding traditional and AI-powered search visibility through SEO, AEO, and GEO; and Site Velocity, prioritizing website improvements that turn traffic into business outcomes.

"Performance, creative, search visibility, and the website belong on the same page, tied to real revenue," said Karley Pines, Director of Performance Marketing at Kreative Media. "When they share one data foundation, every decision in one channel makes the next one smarter. That is what lets us scale spend with confidence and put creative time into what is proven to work."

As results evolve, the system adapts, using insights across disciplines to guide strategy, resource allocation, and future investments rather than restarting with each campaign.

The Kreative Velocity System is available to new and existing clients. Learn more at http://kreative-media.com/kreative-velocity-system/.

Document Shredding Expert Rhet Crowe of Dayton, Ohio Explains Importance of Certificates of Destruction for HelloNation

DAYTON, Ohio, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Why do organizations keep a certificate of destruction after shredding documents? That question is answered in a HelloNation article featuring insights from Document Shredding Expert Rhet Crowe of Dayton, Ohio. The article explores why this document carries value far beyond routine paperwork and how it supports secure shredding practices, legal compliance, and risk reduction.

The HelloNation feature explains that a certificate of destruction is formal proof that confidential documents were securely destroyed. While many may assume that shredding alone is enough, Crowe emphasizes that documentation serves as evidence that secure shredding took place according to professional standards. This is especially important when dealing with sensitive records such as financial reports, medical files, or legal paperwork.

Compliance reviews and audits are a key reason organizations rely on certificates of destruction. During these reviews, businesses may need to demonstrate how they handled and disposed of confidential documents. The article notes that having a certificate on file helps confirm that shredding was completed properly. Without this proof, businesses may struggle to meet documentation requirements or defend their practices under scrutiny.

Beyond audits, internal recordkeeping is another major benefit. A certificate of destruction provides a clear trail of when records were shredded and why. This supports internal policies, such as document retention schedules, and helps departments remain consistent in how they dispose of confidential documents. Crowe explains that this kind of traceability builds accountability and reduces reliance on informal or undocumented methods.

The article also discusses how a certificate ties into broader data protection practices. Shredding addresses the physical aspect of disposal, but a certificate of destruction confirms that the job was done and recorded. In industries subject to privacy laws, such as healthcare or finance, this kind of confirmation is a critical safeguard. Without it, companies may have difficulty proving that they followed the rules.

Liability protection is another key factor covered in the article. If a data breach or exposure occurs, organizations may be asked to show how they disposed of records. A certificate of destruction offers documented proof that secure shredding was used, which can help reduce liability during investigations or legal claims. Crowe advises that in cases of sensitive data handling, having proper documentation can make a meaningful difference in how a situation is resolved.

Even when not legally required, many businesses choose to request and retain certificates as a best practice. The article points out that the higher the sensitivity of the documents, the more important proof of destruction becomes. Whether for customer data, financial records, or HR files, organizations benefit from having documentation that supports responsible disposal.

Certificates of destruction also contribute to stronger internal processes. Employees who know that destruction is tracked are more likely to follow established protocols. This reduces the chance of documents being discarded improperly or forgotten in storage. Crowe notes that it's a simple step that reinforces security culture within the organization.

Why Organizations Rely on Certificates of Destruction features insights from Rhet Crowe, Document Shredding Expert of Dayton, Ohio, in HelloNation.
