Non-Party-Affiliated Gubernatorial Ticket Announces Expanded Community Engagement Led by Rachel Rodriguez and Immigration Attorney Rolando Vasquez Ahead of November 3 Election

MIAMI, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- With Election Day just three weeks away, non-party-affiliated candidate for Florida Governor Frank Russo and his running mate, Rachel Rodriguez, are launching an expanded "Faith Over Fear" outreach initiative across South Florida, encouraging eligible voters to understand their rights, report intimidation, and make their voices heard at the ballot box.

The initiative will bring Rodriguez, a Cuban-American attorney with more than 20 years of legal experience, together with Miami immigration attorney Rolando Vasquez for community appearances, media interviews, and conversations with residents throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties leading up to the November 3 election.

The campaign's message focuses on concerns surrounding immigration enforcement, citizenship, political rhetoric, and voter intimidation while emphasizing access to accurate election information and legal protections.

"Floridians should never have to be afraid to exercise their right to vote," said Russo. "There are people who benefit when communities feel intimidated, discouraged, or believe their voices don't matter. Not on my watch. As governor, I know how to build a team that protects the rights of Florida residents, and that's exactly what I intend to do."

Russo pointed to Rodriguez and Vasquez as examples of the legal experience and leadership he wants to bring to his administration, emphasizing that protecting Florida communities requires more than campaign promises.

"This isn't talk. These are attorneys who know the law and know how to protect people," Russo added. "That's the difference between a campaign that comforts you and an administration that defends you."

The outreach effort comes amid renewed concerns surrounding immigration enforcement and citizenship protections in South Florida. According to an October 9 Miami Herald report, the Justice Department has expanded its efforts to revoke citizenship from certain naturalized Americans, including through new federal cases involving South Florida residents.

The campaign emphasized that denaturalization proceedings involving specific individuals should not be confused with the voting rights of naturalized U.S. citizens generally, who retain the right to vote when otherwise eligible.

Rodriguez, who has been helping lead the campaign's engagement with South Florida communities, emphasized that the initiative is about providing residents with information, access, and reassurance about their legal rights.

"Fear is a tactic. Faith has a plan of action," said Rodriguez. "Frank Russo and I are bringing the people knowledge and energizing civic action. We want families throughout South Florida to know that their voices matter, their fundamental rights come from God and are inalienable, and they deserve leadership that will stand up for them."

As part of the "Faith Over Fear" initiative, Rodriguez and Vasquez plan to participate in community conversations and English- and Spanish-language media interviews addressing voter participation, immigration-related concerns, citizenship protections, and the legal rights of Florida residents.

Planned outreach through November 3 includes:

- Community engagement throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties, including Little Havana, Hialeah, Doral, Little Haiti, Kendall, Miramar, and Pembroke Pines.

- English- and Spanish-language media interviews with television, radio, print, and digital news outlets, including opportunities for in-studio and on-location conversations.

- Voter education and legal rights discussions addressing voting eligibility, early voting, vote-by-mail procedures, and how residents can report suspected voter intimidation.

- Community organization and small business outreach to connect with neighborhood groups interested in hosting conversations about legal protections and civic participation.

Vasquez, a Miami-based immigration attorney with a substantial following on social media, will bring his experience working with immigrant families to discussions about citizenship, legal rights, and the importance of obtaining reliable information.

"I have spent my career defending families in this community," said Vasquez. "Citizens have rights, including the right to vote when eligible. People deserve accurate information about those rights, and no eligible voter should be intimidated away from participating."

The campaign's outreach will include South Florida's diverse communities, including families with roots in Cuba, Venezuela, Haiti, Colombia, Nicaragua, and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

Russo, a longtime Florida businessman and insurance industry executive who is self-funding his gubernatorial campaign, said the initiative reflects his broader commitment to building an administration focused on accountability, affordability, and protecting the interests of Florida residents.

The campaign also intends to assemble a legal team with experience in immigration, civil rights, and community advocacy to help inform its approach to protecting residents' rights, consistent with state and federal law.

Media Availability

Rachel Rodriguez and Rolando Vasquez are available for interviews with South Florida television, radio, print, and digital news outlets leading up to Election Day.

The campaign is coordinating English- and Spanish-language interview opportunities, including potential appearances on Telemundo and other regional outlets. Additional scheduling details will be provided directly to interested newsrooms.

Important Voting Information

- Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

- Polling hours: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

- Voting information: Eligible voters should confirm registration, early voting dates, vote-by-mail requirements, and polling locations through their county Supervisor of Elections.

- Voter intimidation: Anyone experiencing suspected intimidation should report the incident to election officials.

The Russo-Rodriguez campaign encourages every eligible Floridian to make a plan to vote and ensure their voice is heard on November 3.

In HelloNation, Plumbing Expert George Campbell Outlines Gas Line Warning Signs Every Homeowner Should Recognize

Recognizing the Early Signs of a Gas Line Problem Helps Homeowners Act Quickly and Avoid Conditions That Can Escalate.

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- What warning signs should a homeowner know that may indicate a need for gas line repair? A HelloNation article identifies the key signals and explains how homeowners and licensed professionals each play a role in keeping a gas system safe.

Natural gas has no natural scent, but utility companies add a chemical called mercaptan to the supply so that leaks can be detected. The article explains that a rotten egg or sulfur odor inside the home should always be treated as a gas-related concern and never attributed to another source until it has been investigated. That smell is the most widely recognized warning sign of a gas line problem.

A hissing or faint whistling sound near a gas appliance, a meter, or an exposed section of pipe is another warning sign the article describes. That kind of sound can indicate gas is escaping from a fitting, connection point, or valve somewhere in the system. Even an intermittent sound that seems minor should be reported promptly, because the rate of a gas leak can change without warning.

Dead or discolored vegetation appearing in a linear pattern across the yard may signal a leak from a buried line that has not yet reached the interior of the home. The HelloNation article explains that gas escaping underground tends to kill plants directly above the pipe in a way that follows its direction. That pattern is worth investigating near any utility corridor or buried service line when it appears.

If a gas odor is detected inside the home, the article advises leaving immediately and calling the utility company from outside. Once the utility company has addressed the immediate concern, a licensed plumber can evaluate the interior piping. The utility company is responsible for the line from the street to the meter, while interior piping from the meter to each appliance falls under the plumber's scope.

Gas line repair inside a residential property is regulated by local building codes and typically requires permits and inspections. The article notes that in Rochester and throughout New York State, licensed professionals must perform any modification or repair to a gas system. Work completed without proper credentials or oversight can create safety risks and potential liability issues.

Pressure testing is one of the standard methods used to determine whether a gas line is leaking and where the leak is located. The article explains that the process involves isolating sections of the line and introducing measured pressure to detect any drop that would indicate gas is escaping. Plumbing Experts use this approach to confirm the full scope of a problem before beginning gas line repair work.

Common causes of gas line issues include aging fittings that have corroded or loosened, flexible connectors behind appliances that have developed cracks from movement, and damage from renovation work performed near the line. The article also notes that older homes may have galvanized or black iron pipe that has reached the end of its functional service life. A licensed plumber who evaluates the full system can identify which sections carry the most risk before a problem develops.

Plumbing Experts recommend that homeowners adding a gas appliance, finishing a basement, or expanding an existing gas system have the planned work reviewed by a licensed plumber before beginning. The article explains that additions made without proper sizing and permitting can reduce reliability across the entire system. Addressing gas line concerns at the point of first detection is more cost-effective than dealing with problems that were left unresolved.

Gas Line Warning Signs to Know features insights from George Campbell, Plumbing Expert of Rochester, New York, in HelloNation.

Bill Ritter Invites New Yorkers to Walk With Him at the CaringKind Alzheimer's Walk and Brain Health Day

David Hyde Pierce and ABC7NY's Mike Marza will emcee the October 17 Central Park event honoring Ritter and Jed Levine, featuring free brain health pre-screenings and experiences for people living with dementia and care partners

NEW YORK, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- After 28 years helping emcee CaringKind's Alzheimer's Walk, ABC and Eyewitness News journalist and longtime anchor Bill Ritter is inviting New Yorkers to join him as someone living with the disease and helping lead CaringKind's "Know Your Brain. Walk With Me." campaign. The 38th Annual CaringKind Alzheimer's Walk and Brain Health Day will take place Saturday, October 17, at Central Park's Naumburg Bandshell, honoring Ritter and Jed Levine. The national public-awareness campaign was created by CaringKind, with launch support from ABC7NY.

Registration opens at 9:30 a.m., followed by the opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Participation is free. Register at CKWALK.ORG to join in Central Park or walk virtually.

"It's been my honor over the last 28 years to help emcee the CaringKind Walk to fight Alzheimer's. And now, it is me who has Alzheimer's," said Ritter. "The spirit and history of CaringKind have now propelled me to become more than an emcee. Thanks to all of you, and millions of others, who have called, emailed, sent letters and stopped on the street to talk about Alzheimer's and how you can help. My quest is to help CaringKind, along with ABC7 Eyewitness News, the TV station where I work, to bring people together and to battle Alzheimer's. For those who have it. For those who will get it. And for those who take care of the patients. It's time to stop dividing. And time to start bringing us together. Onward."

The campaign extends beyond the park through Dream Outdoor's TSX billboard in Times Square. ABC7NY also plans an October 15 special bringing the conversation about Alzheimer's and brain health to viewers ahead of Walk Day. "We are turning awareness into ongoing action this year while standing alongside people living with dementia and their care partners," said Eleonora Tornatore-Mikesh, President and CEO of CaringKind. "Know Your Brain is now our campaign to advance early detection and brain health. CaringKind is proud to launch this campaign by doing brain health pre-screenings at a designated tent at our walk and through our website at ckbrainhealth.org. Catching changes early and doing regular brain checks need to become our frontline of defense as new discoveries on dementia treatments and risk reduction are emerging every day."

Jed Levine, CaringKind's President Emeritus and Director of External Relations, will be honored for his service since 1990. He helped pioneer an early-stage support group that grew into the Weinberg Early-Stage Center and developed outreach to diverse communities across New York City.

"It is very special to be honored at the 2026 CaringKind Walk and Brain Health Day. It has been a privilege to work with the outstanding staff, volunteers, and the thousands of families we have served," said Levine. "Even with new diagnostic tools and effective new treatments, the work of CaringKind is critical to help individuals living with dementia and their families navigate this journey with compassion, knowledge and kindness."

"Central Park will become an interactive brain health experience where people can engage with experts, explore practical resources and take informed steps to support their brain health," states Tornatore-Mikesh. CaringKind's team, along with volunteers from NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing will be in the pre-screening tent to answer questions and help people access the BrainGuide pre-screening tool, powered by UsAgainstAlzheimer's. Brain health coaches from BetterBrain will help participants start a personalized brain health plan, and Dr. Marc Rothman of Lizzy Care will be nearby for anyone who would like to speak with a physician about next steps. A pre-screening does not provide a diagnosis or replace medical evaluation. Everything offered in the tent is free. People who cannot attend in person can complete the brain check and start their plan through CaringKind's Know Your Brain page.

Besides walking, participants can have their hearing, vision, gait and blood pressure checked, explore nutrition and enjoy hands-on activities. Lilly's tent will feature Planet Harvest boxes of fresh, wholesome foods, while Eisai's Healthy Well Being Station will offer produce and nutrition tips highlighting Magnolia Meals at Home®. Axsome will offer gentle stretching and aromatherapy, RiverSpring Living will engage the five senses, and The 80th Street Residence Enhanced Memory Care will invite participants to create lavender sachets. People living with memory loss can connect with peers in the Dream Lounge, inspired by CaringKind's Early-Stage Center and supported by The Watermark at Brooklyn Heights and Duet Care at Home.

Funds raised support CaringKind's free, year-round care consultations, support groups, education workshops, early-stage and engagement programs and care partner resources. In HelloNation, RV Park Resort Expert Judy Brown Examines RV Park Amenities That Matter for Family Travel
Image File
Original HTML

The article explains how campground features can improve comfort, convenience, and organization during extended family RV stays.

PACE, Fla., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- What campground features make family RV travel easier during longer trips? In a HelloNation article, RV Park Resort Expert Judy Brown of Vacay Village of Pensacola explains how practical RV park amenities can support more comfortable and organized family travel experiences.

The article explains that many families planning RV travel focus heavily on destinations, attractions, and driving schedules while overlooking the importance of campground features. According to the article, the right RV park amenities may shape daily comfort and convenience just as much as the travel destination itself, especially during extended stays.

Reliable utility hookups remain one of the most important RV park amenities discussed in the article. Water, electricity, and sewer connections help support cooking, bathing, laundry, and everyday routines throughout family travel. The article notes that families staying several days or weeks often notice quickly when campground hookups are unreliable or difficult to access.

Internet access is another feature highlighted as increasingly important during modern RV travel. Many families rely on dependable internet access for entertainment, communication, remote work, and trip planning throughout longer trips. According to the article, reliable internet service often helps families remain organized and connected during extended stays.

Outdoor recreation areas are another feature discussed in the article. Campgrounds with playgrounds, sports courts, walking trails, and open gathering spaces may help children remain active after long travel days. The article notes that outdoor recreation spaces may also provide parents with more opportunities to relax while children spend time outdoors.

The article additionally emphasizes the value of safe and organized campground environments during family travel. Clearly marked roads, lower speed limits, security gates, fencing, and designated recreation areas may help families feel more comfortable and secure throughout an extended stay. According to the article, families often appreciate RV park amenities that support predictable daily routines and quieter campground conditions.

Campground layout is another factor covered in the article. Wider RV sites, well-maintained roads, and nearby restroom facilities may seem less important during shorter visits but often become more valuable over time. The article explains that convenience and accessibility may play a larger role in overall comfort during extended stays than decorative campground features alone.

Clean restroom and shower facilities are also highlighted as important RV park amenities for family travel. Even families using fully equipped RVs may occasionally rely on campground facilities during busy travel periods. The article explains that well-maintained restroom areas often contribute to a cleaner and more organized campground environment overall.

The article also discusses the importance of spaces designed for relaxation and downtime. Picnic areas, shaded seating spaces, fire pits, and quiet gathering areas may help families unwind after busy sightseeing or local activities. These RV park amenities can help create a more balanced and comfortable travel experience throughout longer trips.

Location and security features are also mentioned as practical considerations during family travel. Campgrounds located near grocery stores, fuel stations, and family attractions may simplify daily schedules, while gated access, fencing, visible staff presence, and well-lit areas may help travelers feel more comfortable during overnight stays.

The article also recommends reviewing campground feedback from other travelers before booking. Reviews often provide practical insight into RV park amenities, including noise levels, facility cleanliness, internet reliability, and playground conditions that may not be obvious from campground photos or advertisements.

Weather conditions may also influence which RV park amenities become most important during family travel. The article notes that shaded areas and swimming facilities may improve comfort in warmer climates, while indoor gathering spaces, reliable utility hookups, heated pools or hot tubs, and fire pits may become more valuable during colder seasons.

According to the article, the best family RV travel experiences often come from campgrounds that successfully balance activity and relaxation. Thoughtfully selected RV park amenities can simplify daily routines while helping families enjoy more comfortable and organized extended stays.

RV Park Amenities That Matter for Family Travel features insights from Judy Brown, RV Park Resort Expert of Pace, Florida, in HelloNation.

gridl by CFi Brings Customer and Operations Management into One System for Ag Businesses

Included for dealers who finance with CFi Solutions, gridl consolidates disconnected systems and scattered spreadsheets with software built around how ag retailers and manufacturers actually work.

DENVER, Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- CFi Solutions today launched gridl by CFi, giving ag retailers, grain elevators and manufacturers one system to manage their customers and day-to-day operations. gridl connects customer and farm records to the quotes, orders, inventory, invoicing and grain storage behind every sale, with CFi financing integrated into the same system. gridl is included for dealers who finance with CFi.

Many ag retailers, grain elevators and manufacturers run their business across separate systems: one for customers, another for inventory, another for orders and another for financing, with spreadsheets filling the gaps. gridl replaces that patchwork with a single system.

"Agriculture runs some of the most complex businesses in the world, yet much of the technology behind them is decades old," said Sangeeta Verma, vice president of product at CFi Solutions. "We didn't build gridl to be another piece of software. We built it to replace the patchwork with one system designed around how ag retailers, grain businesses and manufacturers actually operate."

CFi financing is integrated into gridl, making it easy for dealers to offer financing as part of every sale. Custom configurations are available for businesses with specialized workflows.

To get off the spreadsheet and onto the gridl, book a demo at gridl.ag.

About CFi Solutions

CFi Solutions provides agricultural point-of-sale financing built for the agricultural input industry. Growers get paperless credit decisions up to $1 million in minutes, retailers get paid at the time of purchase, and growers repay at the end of the season. More than 250 retailers work with CFi, which has enabled over $800 million in financing, and manufacturers partner with CFi to build reduced-interest programs for their products. Medical Spa Expert Ayesha Downs of Shakopee, MN Explains Laser Hair Removal Sessions for HelloNation

SHAKOPEE, Minn., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- How many laser hair removal sessions do you really need to see lasting results? A HelloNation article answers this common question by explaining how laser hair removal works, why multiple sessions are required, and what patients in Shakopee should expect over time. The article focuses on setting realistic expectations so readers can better understand the process before starting treatment. This guidance is outlined in a HelloNation article that emphasizes education and clarity around long term hair reduction.

The HelloNation article explains that understanding how laser hair removal works begins with hair growth cycles. Because hair grows in phases, laser energy can only effectively target follicles during active growth. As a result, laser hair removal sessions must be spaced several weeks apart to catch hair at the right stage. The article notes that this biological process is why laser hair removal is never a one visit solution.

According to the article, most patients require between six and eight laser hair removal sessions to see meaningful reduction. The exact number varies depending on the area treated, hair thickness, and individual biology. For Shakopee residents researching laser hair removal shakopee mn prices, the article explains that knowing the expected number of sessions upfront helps patients plan both their time and budget more accurately.

Hair color and skin type are also addressed as key factors. The article explains that lasers target pigment within the hair follicle, which means darker hair tends to respond best. Lighter hair may respond more slowly or less dramatically, making clear communication during consultation essential. The HelloNation article stresses that qualified providers should explain these differences honestly so patients understand what results are realistic.

Comfort during treatment is another topic covered in the article. Patients often describe the sensation as a brief snapping feeling as the laser pulses. While not completely painless, sessions are typically quick and tolerable, especially for smaller areas. This efficiency makes south metro laser treatment easier to fit into a normal routine, which the article notes is part of its appeal.

Downtime expectations are also clarified. The HelloNation article explains that most patients experience minimal recovery, with temporary redness or mild swelling similar to a sunburn. Normal activities usually resume the same day, though avoiding sun exposure for a short period is recommended. These details help readers understand how laser hair removal sessions fit into everyday life.

Cost is one of the most frequently asked questions discussed in the article. Laser hair removal cost varies based on treatment area size and the number of sessions required. While the initial investment may seem high, the article explains that many patients find it more affordable over time when compared to years of waxing or shaving expenses. This long term perspective is particularly relevant for those comparing laser hair removal shakopee MN prices.

Maintenance is presented as a realistic part of long term hair reduction. Even after completing a full series of laser hair removal sessions, some patients may need occasional touch ups once or twice a year. Hormonal changes and genetics can influence regrowth, and the article explains that laser hair removal reduces hair significantly rather than eliminating it entirely.

The HelloNation article concludes by emphasizing the importance of provider expertise. Proper settings and individualized treatment planning help maximize results while minimizing irritation. In the South Metro area, experienced medical professionals tailor treatments based on skin tone and hair type. By explaining timelines, costs, and outcomes clearly, the article helps readers decide whether laser hair removal aligns with their long term expectations.

WesternU students find community and connection through MIKE program mentorship
Image File

LEBANON, Ore., Oct. 14, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- For students at Western University of Health Sciences in Oregon, the start of the academic school year brings new opportunities to get involved in the community. Each year, a group of students from the Heatherington College of Osteopathic Medicine (WesternU HCOM) and the College of Health Sciences-Northwest (CHS-Northwest) choose to volunteer as mentors in the MIKE Program.

MIKE is a non-profit organization that educates and mentors youth to lead healthy lives and build healthy communities. By connecting mentor volunteers and partner organizations like WesternU with local middle and high schools, MIKE teaches healthy behaviors, increases basic health knowledge and health literacy, and provides exposure to health care career pathways. Originating in the Portland area, the program now serves urban and rural communities throughout Oregon and Southwest Washington. In 2018, the Sweet Home community requested a peer-to-peer mentoring program connecting its high school and the medical school. The partnership with MIKE launched in Sweet Home in 2020, as a pilot program for rural communities. Today, the program continues to serve as a launchpad for innovation and best practices in workforce pipeline development.

"When we launched this project in 2020, one of our key innovations was having medical students work directly with the MIKE team and the high school to develop leadership skills in community health and youth mentoring. Since then, we've welcomed physical therapy students, and I'm proud that we continue to stay true to our original vision," said WesternU Senior Executive of Strategy, Growth, and Transformation Di Lacey, DHSc, who was instrumental in bringing the MIKE Program to WesternU. "These health professions students are future civic leaders, public health educators, and healthcare advocates. We designed this program to give them the hands-on learning and real-time feedback that will prepare them to succeed in any community where they choose to practice."

The MIKE program curriculum aligns with the Oregon Department of Education Health Standards but allows for flexibility based on the needs of the communities they serve and the specializations of their mentor volunteers. Classes include a focus on nutrition and exercise, mental health, and other social determinants of health. Through partnerships with early health care professionals, MIKE introduces students to a wide range of career opportunities and provides personalized guidance as they prepare to take the next steps in their professional journeys.

The program's work is supported by teachers at participating schools who work alongside MIKE mentors to help connect the lessons to their students' needs and interests. Their partnership gives mentors insight into the school and community while helping teachers incorporate additional health education and career exploration into their students' classroom experience.

"I've found a favorite activity that the classes have enjoyed so far. It is an 'impairment creating' activity. We purposefully make it so they have a physical impairment, such as not being able to bend their elbow when throwing or putting popsicle sticks on their fingers so they can't bend or grip anything," said second-year physical therapy student Haven Wagner. "Other times we'll talk about why we got into physical therapy, what physical therapy is, confirming that, yes, we work with injuries, but we also do so much more than just treat injuries."

Wagner became involved in the MIKE program when the third-year cohort presented on the program and encouraged other students to sign up. As a program lead, she helps organize mentor visits to Sweet Home High School, facilitates tours of the CHS-Northwest campus building, and develops hands-on interactive lesson plans for the mentees.

"The community does so much for us and it's so much more beneficial when we can give back to the community as well. We get to see the reactions and the thankfulness from them. We don't do it just to get something back, but it's like a constant giving circle. You're giving and they're giving, and it creates a mutually beneficial environment," said Wagner.

The relationships MIKE volunteers build with students are at the heart of the program, and those connections begin with mentors being willing to show up as themselves. While mentors bring their education and experiences into the classroom, MIKE Executive Director Justin Zellinger said the most effective volunteers are those who are willing to share the less-than-perfect parts of their own journeys, too.

"We ask our mentors to kind of bring their whole self into the program. The students sometimes think, 'oh, wow, they're a med student, they must have it all figured out. They knew they wanted to be a doctor. It was easy for them.' Often, that's not the case. They've had this curved path to get there. They have their own struggles. Maybe they're having an off day, but they still show up anyway. Sharing those struggles, the ups and downs and, again, bringing their whole self is what we encourage," said Zellinger. "It's nice for them to just come and be genuine. It forms connections."

WesternU HCOM second-year student Erin Foley has been involved in MIKE both as a mentor and now as a program director. Foley was interested in volunteering with the MIKE program because she appreciated the longevity of the role and the opportunity to build personal relationships with the mentees.

"Throughout my life, I have always really gravitated towards teaching positions. I like sharing knowledge that I've worked hard to gain, and I just think there's so many barriers to information medicine in general. That's been really rewarding, that I can go into Sweet Home and bring all these really amazing things that we're learning to a group of students that are equally interested but may not have had those resources without this program," said Foley. "Having that ability to be a mentor in medical school has been really important for me because it connects me to my community. It affords me the opportunity to share knowledge and inspire. You don't know what position a student is coming from or if they have role models in their life that they look up to, but you can be that role model for them in a capacity I wouldn't have even imagined possible. We come into that program twice a month and we live such busy lives. It sometimes seems small, but the impact is felt so deeply."

After moving from Portland to Lebanon for school, Foley was eager to find ways to connect with her new community. Volunteering provided the perfect opportunity to build meaningful relationships during everyday stresses of medical school.

"Being able to participate in a mentorship program like MIKE has really instilled that sense of community within me and within a lot of students that participate as mentors. We're so well connected now with social media and being able to call anyone, but there's something that MIKE offers that satisfies that drive for relationship and human connection that is not as present in the high-speed environment of medical school. We're always working and we're always studying, and so the fact that we can really spend time with these students and with one another, I think it's been very impactful," said Foley. "It also just brings you down to earth and reminds you why you decided to go to medicine in the first place. It's those interactions that make medicine so wonderful. You are in partnership with your patients and you're in partnership with your community."
