DETROIT, Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Detroit Defense was awarded a four-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract, with a ceiling of $49.9 million, to support the U.S. Army in developing, integrating, fielding, and sustaining the Army's Data Integration for Ground Systems (DIGS) and Digital Logbook (DLB) capabilities. Two task orders totaling $8 million were issued at award, and a separate $1.6 million order will put DIGS on Army watercraft.

The contract was awarded by Army Contracting CommandâDetroit Arsenal through a competitive Commercial Solutions Opening (CSO) and runs through September 2030. It covers continuous DLB software sustainment and DIGS and DLB integration on new and legacy platforms within the Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) Software Engineering Center (SEC) in Warren, Michigan, and unit fieldings to CONUS and OCONUS locations that include kitting, installation, New Equipment Training, and Field Service Representative support.

DIGS and DLB replace paper-based and error-prone maintenance processes with a single complete and validated digital workflow. Maintainers use ruggedized tablets to run diagnostics, access Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM), and connect to the Global Combat Support SystemâArmy (GCSS-Army), and the system generates DA Form 5988-E entries directly from vehicle sensor data. The result is less manual data entry and more accurate maintenance records that shorten the timeline between ordering and receiving parts, and that give commanders a clearer picture of what is ready to fight.

DIGS and DLB are already fielded and proven, and this contract is built to take them across the force. Self-propelled howitzers come first, with a repeatable process under the CSO for adding whatever combat or tactical platforms the Army designates next. The same foundational DIGS data will feed predictive maintenance and fleet-readiness analytics apps that Detroit Defense is extending with the 1st Cavalry Division under its recent Army Applications Laboratory predictive sustainment award.

The $8.06 million of initial task orders fund the first increment of work under the CSO: DIGS and DLB engineering, test, and sustainment support within the GVSC SEC, and the fielding of DIGS to more than 20 self-propelled howitzer battalions. Detroit Defense will configure and kit the systems at its Sterling Heights, Michigan, facility, then install, train, and support them at each unit.

Separately, AR1, a joint venture of Detroit Defense and ACE Electronics, received a $1.66 million task order under the Defense Logistics Agency's Gateway to Readiness contract to deliver DIGS sets to CONUS and OCONUS locations in 2027 for Product Manager Army Watercraft Systems, including Landing Craft Utility (LCU) and Logistic Support Vessels (LSV), Modular Causeway Systems (MCS), and the Maneuver Support Vessel-Light (MSV-L). The watercraft DIGS effort will include instructor training and technical manual development, while also introducing a new compact charging case for the MSV-L.

"These awards move DIGS and Digital Logbook from proven capability to scaled fielding across Army artillery and watercraft formations," said Nathan Clark, Senior Vice President of Mission Systems. "When a maintainer pulls up a 5988-E that filled itself in from the vehicle instead of a clipboard, that is accurate data reaching the commander without anyone retyping it. More equipment stays ready, and commanders know what they have. We're proud to continue building this capability with GVSC and the program offices that depend on it."

Detroit Defense is the Army's partner under this contract for DIGS and DLB development, integration, fielding, and sustainment. The company works alongside GVSC engineers in the SEC, and all software created under the contract is delivered to the Army with Government Purpose Rights.

National Healthy Skin Month: Wellness is more than skin deep

Original HTML

The American Academy of Dermatology encourages the public to celebrate their skin, and all that it does for their health, by following healthy skin habits that dermatologists recommend.

ROSEMONT, Ill., Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Your skin works hard for you every day, quietly shielding you from the outside world while telling a story about what is happening on the inside. This November, the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) is marking National Healthy Skin Month with a simple message: love and protect the skin you're in. Give it the everyday care it deserves, while understanding when to bring in a board-certified dermatologist â the expert who can evaluate your skin, hair, and nails for clues about your overall health, not just what is happening on the surface.

"Healthy skin is skin that can do its job well," said board-certified dermatologist Rachel Nazarian, MD, FAAD. "It keeps our bodies comfortable, regulating temperature and acting as a shield that protects us, both from physical debris and harmful germs, viruses, and bacteria. It is skin that has been loved and cared for through gentle cleansing, hydration, and sun protection. In a nutshell, healthy skin is skin that takes care of us while we take care of it."

Protecting and repairing the skin barrier

At the center of healthy skin is the skin barrier, the outermost layer of the skin. The skin barrier acts as a protective shield, serving as the first line of defense against pollution, environmental damage, inflammation, and infection. It also keeps moisture locked in, helping the skin remain hydrated, smooth, and balanced.

When the skin barrier is functioning well, the skin is better able to protect the body and stay healthy. A damaged skin barrier allows germs to get inside, which can lead to infection. It can also cause water loss, resulting in dryness, flaking, or a tight or rough texture. A weakened skin barrier can make skin more easily irritated or inflamed, which can worsen conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and acne. You may have a compromised skin barrier if your skin is sensitive and reactive, leading to redness, discoloration, burning, or stinging when products are applied.

The skin barrier can be damaged by common factors like over-cleansing, harsh products, hot water, and excessive sun exposure, all of which strip away the protection needed to keep your skin intact and hydrated. Over-exfoliation and layering too many active ingredients, often driven by social media trends, can leave skin inflamed and more vulnerable to irritation. The best approach is usually the simplest one.

The AAD recommends the following steps to help protect and repair the skin barrier:

- Follow a simple skin care routine that includes a gentle cleanser, a moisturizer, and a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.

- Introduce new skin care ingredients gradually rather than all at once.

- Use warm water instead of hot water when washing the face and body.

- If you choose to exfoliate, find the right exfoliating schedule to avoid over-exfoliating, which can leave the skin red and irritated.

- Seek shade, wear sun-protective clothing, and apply sunscreen when outdoors, since the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can damage skin even on cloudy or cool days.

Beyond routine care, Dr. Nazarian encourages patients to build a positive relationship with their skin.

"During skin exams, I routinely point out harmless findings that I think are special and unique," Dr. Nazarian said. "Many skin findings are found in multiple members of the same family, so I ask patients who else has these same spots. I remind them that their skin is a kind of anatomical family diary, and that reminder often helps patients love and care for the skin they have."

Skin: A window into overall health

Board-certified dermatologists are trained not only to treat skin, hair, and nail conditions, but also to recognize when a skin finding may point to a broader, and sometimes serious, medical condition. Dermatologists frequently see patients whose skin conditions are connected to other health conditions, including issues affecting the digestive system, heart, and hormones.

"The skin is a reflection of everything underneath," Dr. Nazarian said. "A board-certified dermatologist is well versed in identifying external signs of internal disease. There are signs on the skin of diabetes and insulin resistance, poor blood circulation, liver and gallbladder dysfunction, autoimmune disease, and even inflammatory bowel disease, among many others."

According to Dr. Nazarian, skin findings can prompt further evaluation for conditions such as diabetes, lupus, Crohn's disease, or ulcerative colitis, and can also reveal more common issues such as vitamin or iron deficiency. In some cases, findings on the skin, hair, or nails do not point to an exact diagnosis on their own, but they allow a dermatologist to begin narrowing down the underlying cause, as is often the case with hair loss.

"Dermatologists have the training and expertise to diagnose and treat more than 3,000 skin conditions," Dr. Nazarian said. "The differences between one diagnosis and another can be incredibly subtle, and the room for error is significant. Board-certified dermatologists have the skillset to identify the slight differences in the skin, hair, and nails that only become recognizable with experience and proper education."

Dermatologists' knowledge has direct implications for successful treatment and care for serious conditions, including skin cancer. Many potentially life-threatening skin conditions, including melanoma, have significantly better survival rates when diagnosed early. Seeing a board-certified dermatologist, who has years of formal training, gives patients the greatest opportunity to have these conditions identified early, which can improve their quality of life and long-term survival.

During National Healthy Skin Month, the AAD reminds the public to appreciate and protect the skin you're in. Learn how to perform a skin self-exam so that you can check your own skin for signs of skin cancer, adopt a simple and consistent skin care routine that protects and strengthens the skin barrier, and remember that skin changes can sometimes signal a health issue elsewhere in the body.

You do not have to figure it out alone. Board-certified dermatologists are there to help, with the training to spot what others might miss. To find a board-certified dermatologist in your area, visit aad.org/findaderm.

Sedin Technologies Honored with 'Excellence in Maintenance Management' Award at MaximoWorld 2026
Image File
Original HTML

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Sedin Technologies, the company behind the EAM360 mobile platform for IBM Maximo, received the 'Excellence in Maintenance Management' award at MaximoWorld 2026, the premier global conference for IBM Maximo and enterprise asset management (EAM) professionals.

Organized annually by Reliabilityweb to recognize achievements in asset performance and operational reliability, the MaximoWorld Awards select winners from a highly competitive pool of global nominations submitted by top-tier enterprises and technology integrators worldwide. Out of this global field, Sedin Technologies emerged as the winner in the 'Excellence in Maintenance Management' category for its outstanding contributions to asset digitalization, operational resilience, and field workforce enablement.

The award recognizes Sedin's continued commitment to helping organizations strengthen maintenance management with smarter, more connected solutions built for IBM Maximo.

The recognition follows Sedin's expertise in IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) migration paired with a full EAM360 mobile application rollout for a billion-dollar hospitality brand headquartered in Las Vegas, with sites across the Asia-Pacific region. Delivered across five integrated resorts operating 24/7, the program unified five siloed sites onto a single global IBM MAS SaaS instance and rolled out EAM360 to a 3,000+ multilingual frontline workforce completed in phased go-live waves with a six-hour cutover and zero downtime to live operations.

Backed by 11 certified professionals, the Maximo practice brings deep expertise across MAS modernization, integrations, and managed services. Built on this foundation, EAM360 extends Maximo into the field through native, offline-first mobile apps for technicians, inspectors, storekeepers, and managers on iOS and Android. With seamless Maximo integration and AI-driven assistance, Sedin helps asset-intensive organizations improve data accuracy, reduce downtime, and make smarter maintenance decisions.

The complex upgrade delivered displayed strong partnership and collaborative spirit. Sedin Technologies, the client, and IBM together achieved flawless migration despite numerous challenges and aligned closely on planning, execution, and risk mitigation. From database conversion and tight downtime windows to large-scale data movement and integration reconfiguration, the teams addressed each hurdle through shared ownership and technical synergy. The successful, first-time-right go-live stands as a testament to the power of partnership, trust, and coordinated execution. The transformation enabled measurable business outcomes through improved system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

"Most migrations end at go-live. We treat it as the starting line. The real test is whether the technician on the floor finds the work easier the next morning, and on this program, the answer was a clear yes. Our team combined deep Maximo expertise with EAM360 mobile apps to give a large, multilingual workforce one consistent way of working across every property. That took more than a platform change. We cleaned up years of inconsistent data, redesigned maintenance workflows across sites, and gave every field user an app they actually want to use: simple, intuitive, and built for frontline work. That blend of strong Maximo delivery and a field-first mobile product is what sets us apart. This MaximoWorld recognition tells us our approach is working, and we look forward to bringing it to more asset-intensive organizations worldwide."

MILK BAR® AND PLUGRÀ® PREMIUM EUROPEAN STYLE BUTTER PUT BUTTER IN THE SPOTLIGHT WITH LIMITED-EDITION BUTTER LOVER'S COOKIE
Image File
Original HTML

CHICAGO, Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Professional chefs and home bakers alike can all agree: when butter is great, it deserves to be the main event. So this Fall, Milk Bar and Plugrà®  Premium European Style Butter are teaming up to celebrate one of baking's most essential ingredients with the Butter Lover's Cookie, a limited-edition creation that puts rich, buttery flavor front and center in Milk Bar's classic cookie.

Available November 1st through December 5th at Milk Bar bakeries and online at milkbarstore.com in a tin of 6 for $28, the Butter Lover's Cookie puts Plugrá butter at the center of every bite, resulting in a golden, rich, and unapologetically butter-forward treat with Milk Bar's signature soft-in-the-middle, crisp-around-the-edges texture.

"Butter is one of those ingredients that bakers can take for granted because it's always there, quietly doing the work. But really great butter changes EVERYTHING," said Christina Tosi, Chef and Founder of Milk Bar, "I've been a Plugrà fan from the very beginning. It was a non-negotiable ingredient in every batch of cookies, cakes and pie we baked on Milk Bar's opening day, and it's been part of our story ever since. So getting to team up with Plugrà all these years later and put butter where it belongs, front and center, feels pretty special."

"Partnering with Milk Bar is a dream collaboration for us as Christina and her team bring unmatched passion and delicious quality to everything they do," says Jenny Mehlman, Senior Director of Marketing at Dairy Farmers of America. "Plugrà is not only part of Milk Bar's history but the most preferred brand of butter by professional chefs today because it is slow-churned and perfectly balanced with 82% butterfat - the European standard - to deliver a rich, creamy taste and easy-to-work-with texture. We hope everyone loves this collaboration as much as we loved coming together to create it!"

The partnership is rooted in a shared belief that when you start with exceptional ingredients, you don't need to overcomplicate things. And at a moment when butter is getting more attention than ever, the Butter Lover's Cookie makes the case for why bakers have been obsessed with it all along.

The Butter Lover's Cookie is available from November 1 through December 5, 2026 while supplies last, at all Milk Bar bakeries nationwide, via local on-demand delivery and online at milkbarstore.com in a tin of 6 for $28.

Projects annually power more than 158,000 homes and contribute over $44 million in property tax payments throughout their lifetimes while supporting California's energy and reliability needs

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Arevon Energy, Inc., a leading American energy developer, owner, and operator, today announced that five of the company's solar projects â Henrietta Solar, Kingbird A Solar, Kingbird B Solar, Nicolis Solar, and Stateline Solar â have reached 10 years of operations. Combined, these projects represent 544 megawatts (MWdc) of capacity and have been providing reliable, affordable electricity to California communities since 2016. Arevon also marked 10 years of operations at its 344 MWdc Moapa Solar Project in Clark County, Nevada, and celebrated the milestone with project stakeholders at an event in September.

Delivering Reliable Energy and Conserving Critical Resources

Collectively, the projects generate enough electricity to power more than 158,000 homes while avoiding an estimated 492,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. They also conserve nearly 12 billion gallons of water annually, an increasingly important benefit as California continues to navigate rising electricity demand and drought conditions. Together, these benefits demonstrate the broader value of energy projects that support grid reliability while reducing pressure on critical resources.

Investing in Communities and Operating Responsibly

Located across Southern California in Kern, Kings, and San Bernardino counties, the projects represent a significant capital investment and have continued to deliver lasting local economic benefits, including more than $44 million in property tax payments over the life of the projects. In addition, nearly 600 jobs were created during construction. Throughout their decade of operations, the projects have maintained a focus on safe, responsible operations while building strong partnerships with the communities where they operate.

"Reaching the 10-year mark at these California solar projects is a significant milestone and a testament to the teams who have operated them safely and reliably," said Justin Johnson, Chief Executive Officer at Arevon. "For the past decade, these projects have supported California's energy needs while delivering meaningful economic and environmental benefits to the communities where we operate. We are proud of the role they play in California's energy future and look forward to building on that foundation as we continue to develop critical energy infrastructure across the state."

Leading Market Presence in California

Arevon is one of California's leading solar and energy storage developers, owners, and operators, with more than 4 gigawatts in operation in the state, representing billions of dollars in capital investment. Recent milestones in the state include the start of operations at its Nighthawk Energy Storage Project, two-phase Eland Solar-plus-Storage Project, Peregrine Energy Storage Project, Vikings Solar-plus-Storage Project, and Condor Energy Storage Project. Additionally, the company's 250 MW Cormorant Energy Storage Project is currently under construction in Daly City.

Several of these projects have also received national recognition, including Condor for Proximo's North America Storage Deal of the Year Award, Vikings for IJGlobal's Renewables Deal of the Year â Energy Storage Award and Proximo's North American Deals of the Year Award, and Eland, which received highly commended recognition in the 2026 Reuters Events Clean Power Generation Award. In addition, Eland and Nighthawk have been named finalists in the S&P Global Platts 2026 Global Energy Awards in the Infrastructure Project of the Year and Energy Deal of the Year categories, respectively. Arevon also earned the No. 1 developer ranking in California in Solar Power World's 2026 Top Solar Contractors List.

Manufacturing PMI® at 55.5%; October 2026 ISM® Manufacturing PMI® Report

New Orders Growing; Production Growing; Employment Growing; Supplier Deliveries Slowing;

Raw Materials Inventories Growing; Customers' Inventories Too Low; Prices Increasing; Imports Growing; Exports Growing

TEMPE, Ariz., Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Economic activity in the manufacturing sector expanded in October for the 10th consecutive month, say the nation's supply executives in the latest ISM® Manufacturing PMI® Report.

The report was issued today by Susan Spence, MBA, Chair of the Institute for Supply Management® (ISM®) Manufacturing Business Survey Committee.

"The Manufacturing PMI® registered 55.5 percent in October, 1 percentage point above the September figure of 54.5 percent. The overall economy expanded for the 24th month in a row. (A Manufacturing PMI® above 47.5 percent, over a period of time, generally indicates an expansion of the overall economy.) The New Orders Index expanded for the 10th consecutive month after four straight readings in contraction, registering 55.5 percent, up 0.2 percentage point compared to September's figure of 55.3 percent. The October reading of the Production Index (59 percent) is 2.3 percentage points higher than the 56.7 percent recorded in September and the highest since November 2021 (60.5 percent). The Prices Index remained in expansion (or 'increasing' territory), registering 75.2 percent, a 2.7-percentage point decrease compared to September's reading of 77.9 percent. The Backlog of Orders Index registered 54.6 percent, down 1.8 percentage points compared to the 56.4 percent recorded in September. The Employment Index reading of 52.4 percent is down 0.3 percentage point from September's figure of 52.7 percent," says Spence.

"The Supplier Deliveries Index indicated slowing performance for the 11th month in a row after one month in 'faster' territory. The reading of 59.1 percent is up 0.1 percentage point from its September reading of 59 percent. (Supplier Deliveries is the only ISM® PMI® Reports index that is inversed; a reading of above 50 percent indicates slower deliveries, which is typical as the economy improves and customer demand increases.)

"The Inventories Index registered 51.4 percent, returning to expansion and up 2.8 percentage points compared to September's reading of 48.6 percent. The Customers' Inventories Index reading of 41.6 percent is the same as in September.

"The New Export Orders Index gained 0.3 percentage points in October for a reading of 51.2 percent versus 50.9 percent in September. The Imports Index registered 52.9 percent, an increase of 1.9 percentage points compared to September's reading of 51 percent."

Spence continues, "In October, U.S. manufacturing activity remained in expansion territory. Of the five subindexes that make up the PMI®, four (New Orders, Production, Supplier Deliveries and Inventories) grew faster than the previous month, while Employment growth slowed down by 0.3 percentage point. In October, general sentiment got worse for a third month in a row, with 34 percent of the comments positive and 66 percent negative (a 1-to-2 ratio of positive to negative sentiment). Among negative comments, pricing volatility was mentioned in 62 percent, longer lead times 41 percent, tariffs 25 percent and the Iran war 21 percent; most comments mentioned multiple factors.

"In October, three of four demand indicators (the New Orders, Backlog of Orders and New Export Orders indexes) remained in expansion, and the Customers' Inventories Index remained in 'too low' territory, contracting at the same rate as last month. A 'too low' status for the Customers' Inventories Index is usually considered positive for future production.

"Regarding output, the Production Index expanded for the 12th month in a row, with the positive-to-negative comment ratio improving to 2 positive comments for every negative one (compared to the 1.6-to-1 ratio in September). The Employment Index remained in expansion but lost 0.3 percentage point. The positive-to-negative comments ratio on Employment was 1.8-to-1 in October.

"Finally, inputs (defined as supplier deliveries, inventories, prices and imports) were mixed, with the Supplier Deliveries Index increasing 0.1 percentage point, the Inventories Index gaining 2.8 percentage points and returning to expansion, and the Prices Index decreasing 2.7 percentage points. The Imports Index gained 1.9 percentage points, to 52.9 percent versus 51 percent in September.

"Looking at the manufacturing economy, 6 percent of the sector's gross domestic product (GDP) contracted in October, compared to 2 percent in September, and 6 percent of manufacturing GDP was in strong contraction (defined as a composite PMI® of 45 percent or lower), compared to 2 percent in September. The share of sector GDP with a PMI® at or below 45 percent is a good metric to gauge overall manufacturing weakness. Of the six largest manufacturing industries, five (Machinery; Computer & Electronic Products; Transportation Equipment; Chemical Products; and Food, Beverage & Tobacco Products) expanded in October."

The 12 manufacturing industries reporting growth in October â listed in order â are: Plastics & Rubber Products; Electrical Equipment, Appliances & Components; Machinery; Computer & Electronic Products; Textile Mills; Primary Metals; Transportation Equipment; Fabricated Metal Products; Furniture & Related Products; Chemical Products; Miscellaneous Manufacturing; and Food, Beverage & Tobacco Products. The three industries reporting a contraction in October are: Printing & Related Support Activities; Paper Products; and Nonmetallic Mineral Products.

WHAT RESPONDENTS ARE SAYING

- "Negative, inflation, in the red' are the three words or phrases that best describe our strategic sourcing for 2026. We generally assume inflation at 2 percent to 3 percent year over year, and we usually do a great job keeping costs under the 2-percent increase. This year, costs are up more than 6 percent, and we are not doing much to keep any of the spend categories under the target. Of the tracked items, only nine are lower, 24 are higher and six are neutral. The red is a bit disturbing. Despite the cost pressures, sales have been OK. It won't be a great year. It's hard to get excited about OK or just getting by. U.S. economic policy has suffered another year, making it impossible to make sound long-term decisions." [Chemical Products]

- "Global demand for capital scientific instrumentation assets has slowed due to continued uncertainty in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and China. Anticipation over the midterm elections and impact to funding for scientific research and the National Institutes of Health also is impacting customers' purchasing behavior, making them focus on optimizing existing technology and tools." [Computer & Electronic Products]

- "Economic policies coming out of Washington continue to weigh on business conditions. Customers are unwilling to make commitments to anything other than the shortest term due to the vast uncertainty. Canadian tariffs continue to damage small U.S. businesses selling into that important market." [Fabricated Metal Products]

- "Inflationary pressures and volatile commodity markets continue to create challenging scenarios and unfavorable impact to purchase price variance. Diesel rates and the trucker shortage are impacting costs beyond the raw material inputs to levels I have never seen." [Food, Beverage & Tobacco Products]

- "Business remains strong, largely driven not only by data centers and mission critical infrastructure, but also the continued replacement of municipal infrastructures particularly related to water. Mining continues to be strong as well." [Machinery]

- "Explosive growth in the semiconductor and government/defense spaces has put us on our heels as we try to work through demand. The long-awaited wave has arrived for our company, and it seems the global supply chain is in similar straits. Lead times and prices are increasing, and some carry COVID-19 era delays â four weeks is now 50 weeks; a US$2,000 item six months ago is now $4,000. We are hand-to-mouth. All the while, our customers are breaking down the doors complaining about our delivery delays." [Machinery]

- "New month, same trends: Any commodity consumed by AI/data centers is in a crunch, both for supply and pricing. We keep wondering when the madness will stop. In spite of these challenges, our demand remains strong and the supply chain is getting by, albeit with a lot of work. As we plan next year's budget, it's sobering to roll up the annualized impact of (1) remaining tariffs, (2) AI-impacted commodity price increases and (3) price increases related to geopolitically influenced commodities." [Miscellaneous Manufacturing]

- "Customers continue to be in a wait-and-see mode. There is no momentum to purchase, as our customers' customers aren't in urgent need of equipment. There has been tentative talk of 2027 purchases, but no discussion of larger-than-historical needs moving into the new year. Customers continue to be gobsmacked by the high price of equipment when they ask for quotes. Typically, we see a fourth-quarter bump as customers use up end-of-year budgets. This year, that bump does not exist." [Transportation Equipment]

- "The trucking industry is experiencing mixed signals. While major companies are making significant strategic investments and consolidations (acquisitions, autonomous technology and electric vehicle infrastructure), underlying freight demand appears softer. Truck tonnage metrics are declining year-over-year, new-vehicle sales are falling, and consumer confidence is weakening. However, elevated diesel prices continue to support trucking company revenues through fuel surcharges, even as freight volumes remain challenged. The economy is growing at a moderate pace, with inflation concerns persisting." [Transportation Equipment]

- "Material shortages abound. Fuel remains high. Uncertainty remains constant.

First-Ever Battery-Powered Snow Thrower From STIHL

Original HTML

From light powder to wet snow, the SFA 120 helps clear driveways and walkways; when paired with two ALLPRO AP 300.0 P batteries, it can clear up to a 10-car driveway after 2.75 inches of fresh snow

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The last leaves may be falling, but outdoor work doesn't stop when winter arrives. As STIHL celebrates its 100th anniversary, the company is bringing its outdoor power expertise to snow removal with the SFA 120, its first snow thrower, now rolling out through its network of more than 10,000 authorized STIHL Dealers nationwide. The SFA 120 is available as a bare tool for $699.99 or in a $899.99 set that includes one AP 300.0 P battery and the AL 301 Charger.

The SFA 120 is powered by STIHL's new ALLPRO battery system, designed to deliver powerful performance and long runtime. With the ALLPRO AP 300.0 P battery, the SFA 120 is ready to use in outdoor temperatures as low as -4°F, thanks to the battery's cold-start function. There's no gas engine to fuel or pull cord to start, and its two battery bays automatically switch to the second battery when the first runs down. With this launch, STIHL is expanding the capabilities of its battery platform into snow removal while delivering the performance users expect from the brand.

From a light dusting to wet snow, clearing conditions can change throughout the winter. The SFA 120 helps homeowners clear driveways and walkways with a 22-inch clearing width. Its metal-framed steel auger features replaceable rubber paddles designed to absorb impacts from driveway surfaces and reduce stress on the auger. The chute rotates 180 degrees and can be controlled from the handlebar, so users can redirect snow without stopping. LED headlights help illuminate the path ahead, and the handlebar folds for compact storage between storms.

"STIHL has spent a century helping people care for the outdoors, and that work doesn't stop when the growing season ends," said Paul Beblowski, Senior Product Manager at STIHL. "Snow removal is a new category for us, but it's a natural extension of the range of products we offer. With the SFA 120, homeowners who rely on STIHL for their lawns and landscapes can continue to extend the use of their battery system into winter."
