Customers can stay safe during winter months by following helpful gas safety tips

OAKLAND, Calif., Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- To help customers prepare their gas appliances for safe use during the cold weather months ahead, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) offers free in-home gas safety checks. During the gas safety checks, PG&E also will re-light pilot lights for customers who have heaters or other appliances that have been turned off during warmer months.

Free safety checks help ensure that gas appliances, including water heaters, furnaces and ovens, are operating safely and efficiently, reducing the risk of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning within the home. Carbon monoxide is especially dangerous because it can't be seen, smelled or heard.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year more than 400 Americans die from unintentional CO poisoning not linked to fires, more than 100,000 visit the emergency room, and more than 14,000 are hospitalized. Since the start of 2026, PG&E has responded to more than 6,300 incidents where the presence of carbon monoxide is suspected.

"Customers can take advantage of this free safety program in advance of winter weather, a time when many will be increasing their use of heaters and other gas appliances. An expert technician will come to your home or business and inspect all gas appliances to ensure proper functionality and perform pilot re-lights. Scheduling a free gas safety check is a benefit PG&E proudly provides our customers to ensure their safety and comfort," said Jeff Janvier, PG&E Vice President, Gas Distribution Operations.

Before the colder winter months when natural gas appliances typically see the most use, PG&E encourages customers to schedule an inspection by visiting www.pge.com/pilotlights. Scheduling your appointment online is free and easy and will help you avoid hold times on our customer service line. Customers can also call 800-743-5000 to schedule appointments.

Helpful Winter Gas Safety Tips

- Customers are highly encouraged to install natural gas detectors in enclosed spaces where gas appliances are being operated as an additional line of protection. Click here to learn more.

- Install carbon monoxide detectors to warn when concentration levels are high.

- All California single-family homes are required to have carbon monoxide detectors.

- Carbon monoxide detectors should be installed on every floor, near sleeping areas and common areas.

- These devices should be tested twice a year, and batteries replaced if necessary.

- Check the expiration date â most carbon monoxide detectors have a shelf life of five to seven years.

- Never use products inside the home that generate dangerous levels of carbon monoxide, such as generators, outdoor grills, or propane heaters.

- Never use cooking devices such as ovens or stoves for home heating purposes.

- When using the fireplace to stay warm, make sure the flue is open so venting can occur safely through the chimney.

- Make sure water heaters and other natural gas appliances have proper ventilation.

- Click here for more winter heating safety and savings tips.

If you suspect carbon monoxide in your home, you should get out immediately and call 911. If a PG&E customer ever smells the distinctive "rotten egg" odor of natural gas in or around their home or business they should immediately evacuate and then call 911 and PG&E at 1-800-743-5000.

ACA Open Enrollment 2027 Brings New Plans and New Rules: Madrinas Insurance Helps Families Enroll in as Little as 15 Minutes

Bilingual advisors at Las Madrinas de los Seguros explain coverage options, new federal enrollment requirements and Medicaid changes in English and Spanish, at no cost.

MIAMI, Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- ACA open enrollment for 2027 began Sunday, November 1, and runs through January 15, 2027, in states using the federal Marketplace. Families should enroll by December 15 for coverage starting January 1. Madrinas Insurance (Las Madrinas de los Seguros), the bilingual health insurance agency that has helped insure more than 2.5 million people, is urging families in Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Texas and nationwide to review their options.

New federal rules change how people enroll. Shoppers must approve their agent through a one-time text or email link, and people new to the Marketplace may need to verify their identity. Starting with tax year 2026, families who receive more premium tax credit than they qualify for must repay the full difference.

"Financial assistance remains available to eligible families through the ACA Marketplace," said Vanessa Marie Vazquez, CFO of Madrinas Insurance. "Review your plan instead of letting it auto-renew, and don't wait until the last week. Our teams will explain your options clearly and stay with you all year."

ACA vs. Medicaid

Medicaid is a state and federal program for people who meet certain eligibility requirements, including income. ACA Marketplace plans are private health insurance, and many families qualify for financial assistance that lowers their monthly costs. As Medicaid eligibility rules change, Madrinas helps families whose Medicaid is ending or has ended, including pregnant women losing coverage, transition to an ACA plan without a gap in care. Losing Medicaid generally opens a Special Enrollment Period, subject to eligibility requirements. Learn more at madrinasinsurance.com/medicaid-transition.

Who Qualifies and How to Enroll

Families can call 855-MADRINA (855-623-7462), seven days a week from 7 a.m. to midnight, or check eligibility at madrinasinsurance.com. A licensed bilingual advisor compares health insurance plans from leading carriers, explains coverage options, handles the paperwork and can complete enrollment in as little as 15 minutes, at no cost.

Educating the community starts with educating its advisors. During its annual convention, Madrinas Insurance provided advisors with updates from more than a dozen carriers, including UnitedHealthcare, Oscar, Ambetter Health, Molina Healthcare, AvMed, AmeriHealth Caritas, Harbor Health and Cigna.

"Nobody has to figure this out alone," said Ammer Cabrera, CEO of Madrinas Insurance. "A Madrina is one call away."

About Madrinas Insurance

Founded in Miami in 2013, Madrinas Insurance (Las Madrinas de los Seguros) is a bilingual health insurance agency. Known as "The Godmothers of Health Insurance," Madrinas offers ACA Marketplace, Medicare, private health, group, dental, vision, life and final expense plans, with free guidance in English and Spanish. With more than 3,000 licensed professionals and offices in Miami, Tampa and Edinburg, Texas, Madrinas is part of the Alliant Insurance Services family.

HelloNation Article Featuring Facial Rejuvenation Expert Dr. Sherif Salama Explains How Botox, Dermal Fillers, IPL Treatment, Microneedling, and Skin Tightening Address Common Signs of Aging
Original HTML

The article outlines how personalized anti-aging plans target wrinkles, volume loss, skin texture, and skin laxity with different treatment approaches.

BEACHWOOD, Ohio, Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- What causes wrinkles, volume loss, uneven skin texture, and skin laxity to develop differently as the skin ages? HelloNation has published an article explaining how personalized anti-aging treatment plans can address each concern through targeted cosmetic procedures and collagen-stimulating technologies.

The article featuring Dr. Sherif Salama of Advanced Clinics - Rejuvenation Aesthetics Salama MD in Beachwood, Ohio, explains that aging affects multiple layers of the skin and underlying facial structure over time. Rather than treating all visible signs of aging the same way, the article explains how different procedures are designed to address specific concerns such as wrinkles, volume loss, uneven pigmentation, rough texture, and skin laxity.

According to the HelloNation article, Botox is commonly used to soften expression-related wrinkles caused by repeated muscle movement. Areas such as the forehead, the area around the eyes, and the space between the eyebrows are often treated because facial expressions gradually create visible lines over time. The article notes that Botox works by temporarily relaxing targeted muscles, allowing the skin to appear smoother and helping reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles before they deepen.

The article also explains that dermal fillers address volume loss rather than muscle movement. As facial support structures change with age, hollow areas may develop in the cheeks, temples, lips, and lower face. Dermal fillers are designed to restore support beneath the skin and soften deeper facial folds. The article describes how dermal fillers can improve facial balance while maintaining natural expression and movement when used conservatively.

Skin texture and discoloration concerns often require entirely different treatment methods. The HelloNation article explains that IPL treatment is frequently used to target uneven pigmentation, redness, visible blood vessels, and sun-related discoloration. IPL treatment focuses on improving skin clarity and overall tone rather than tightening loose skin or correcting volume loss. Patients primarily concerned with discoloration may benefit from IPL treatment, as it addresses pigmentation changes that often result from long-term sun exposure.

The article also reviews how microneedling supports collagen production and improves the skin's surface. Microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries that encourage the skin's natural repair process. Over time, this process may improve rough texture, acne scarring, and mild wrinkles. Some microneedling techniques may also incorporate radiofrequency energy to promote deeper collagen remodeling, further supporting skin firmness and refinement.

For individuals concerned about sagging or skin laxity, the article explains that skin-tightening procedures are designed to improve firmness and elasticity. Skin tightening treatments often use radiofrequency or ultrasound technology to heat deeper tissue layers without damaging the surface. This process gradually encourages collagen production, helping improve skin laxity around the jawline, neck, and lower face.

The HelloNation article emphasizes that many people experience multiple aging concerns simultaneously. Someone dealing with wrinkles, volume loss, uneven pigmentation, and skin laxity may benefit from combining Botox, dermal fillers, IPL, microneedling, and skin-tightening procedures as part of a personalized treatment strategy. The article notes that effective planning depends on identifying the specific source of each concern rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

The article further explains that facial anatomy, age, skin quality, and personal goals all influence treatment recommendations. According to the article, understanding how Botox, dermal fillers, IPL treatment, microneedling, and skin tightening work independently allows patients to pursue procedures that directly address their individual concerns.

How Can an Anti-Aging Treatment Plan Address Wrinkles, Volume Loss, Skin Texture, and Skin Laxity? features insights from Dr. Sherif Salama, a facial rejuvenation expert in Beachwood, Ohio, in HelloNation.

Machias Power and Plumbing Urges Washington Homeowners to Secure Standby Generators Before Winter Outages
Image File
Original HTML

SNOHOMISH, Wash., Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- As storm season returns to Washington, Machias Power and Plumbing is urging homeowners to plan standby generator installations now. Sizing, permitting, and inspection take time, and that process cannot start once the power is out.

Last winter brought historic flooding and widespread outages across the Pacific Northwest. In April, Washington received a federal disaster declaration in the wake of that damage. Storm season has already started, with high winds in late September leaving tens of thousands of Washington utility customers without power.

"Most storm advice stops at the power going out, but that's usually where the plumbing problems start," said Aaron Pullen, Owner of Machias Power and Plumbing. "Without electricity, a sump pump can't keep a basement dry, and a well pump can't deliver water. A standby generator keeps those systems running, but it has to be planned before the storm, not during it."

Backed by a 4.9-star Google rating, Machias Power and Plumbing serves homeowners across Snohomish, King, and Skagit Counties, where winter outages and flooding are a recurring risk. In this region, a standby generator keeps sump pumps, well pumps, furnaces, and medical equipment running when the grid goes down.

Installation involves sizing the generator, a natural gas or propane connection, an automatic transfer switch, and permits and inspection. Because the work spans both electrical and plumbing trades, a dual-licensed contractor can manage the full project.

A permanent system also spares households from relying on portable generators, which carry carbon monoxide risks and, when plugged into a wall outlet, can endanger restoration crews.

"The best time to plan a generator is before you need one," said Pullen. "When you're ready to start, we're a phone call away."

Homeowners in Snohomish, King, and Skagit Counties can contact Machias Power and Plumbing, a Generac Authorized Dealer offering Generac and other trusted brands, to start planning an installation.

ABU DHABI, UAE, Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- ADIPEC 2026 opened in Abu Dhabi today, bringing together global leaders from energy, government, finance and technology, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, to examine how resilient energy systems, infrastructure investment, artificial intelligence and international partnership can strengthen energy security and support future economic growth.

Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and hosted by ADNOC, ADIPEC 2026 marks the largest edition in the event's history, with an expected 239,000 participants from more than 170 countries. Opening-day discussions highlighted the growing importance of supply resilience, intelligent energy systems and long-term investment in meeting rising demand while ensuring energy remains reliable, accessible and affordable.

Against a backdrop of rising energy demand, geopolitical shifts and growing pressure on infrastructure, the four-day event is focused on strengthening resilience, mobilising capital and advancing the technologies and partnerships needed to support long-term growth.

The Opening Ceremony began with a keynote address from H.E. Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, who said the global energy industry must fundamentally rethink how it builds, protects and delivers secure energy, following a year of unprecedented disruption that has exposed critical vulnerabilities in international supply chains.

Stating it is not possible to control every situation and remove every risk, Dr. Al Jaber said: "The choices we make today will determine the energy landscape a decade from now. Let's apply the lessons we have learned. Let's build capacity and everything that supports it. Let's forge partnerships that hold when it matters. And if you want a partner you can count on you are in the right room, in the right city, in the right country. Because when it counts the most, you can count on the UAE."

Setting out the case for a more resilient energy system, Dr. Al Jaber said since the disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, nearly one billion barrels of crude have been drained from inventories. He outlined five steps the energy industry can take to reduce the impact of future shocks.

"First, accessible supply. We need expanded strategic storage, larger stockpiles of products and flexible refining capacity closer to consumer markets. Second, routes to market. Supply only counts when it arrives. Infrastructure must be built before it is needed and enabled by advanced logistics. Third, operational intelligence. Moving from automated operations to intelligent energy systems that anticipate risk, optimise performance and drive down the cost of every barrel. Fourth, capital follows confidence. Policy must create it, finance must accelerate it and insurance must keep trade moving. Fifth, which is in my view the most important, is people. Because behind every barrel that arrives is a person who made sure it did. Systems don't carry responsibility, people do. "

Reflecting on the UAE's resilience during recent market disruptions, Dr. Al Jaber said: "We did not write our resilience playbook during this disruption. We wrote it years before. And at ADNOC, it did not make us immune, it made us prepared. Our leadership's foresight in modernising ADNOC made the difference, from integrated trading, to investing in people, to world-class logistics, to XRG's global portfolio in gas, chemicals and energy solutions.

"The evident result is our end-to-end AI-enabled operating model, built for a world of rising demand and delivering what customers need, when they need it, where they need it. Our ambition is to make ADNOC the most customer-centric energy company on earth."

The Opening Ceremony also featured a speech and interview with Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, bringing a global technology perspective to discussions on the growing relationship between artificial intelligence, energy demand and infrastructure investment.

"I am tremendously excited for AI to help and enable the energy industry, and I even more excited to see what the world can do with the inspiration, ideas, output, and leverage that people can get out of AI, with abundant energy to make all these wonderful things happen.

Altman highlighted the growing interdependence between AI and energy, arguing that while AI can help make energy systems more efficient, reliable and innovative, the rapid expansion of AI will also require significantly more energy. He said AI was increasingly being used not just as a productivity tool, but as a platform for scientific discovery and problem-solving, with the potential to transform energy operations, materials development and system design.

Altman also praised the UAE's leadership in AI adoption and described the ADNOC-G42-OpenAI partnership as a model for applying advanced AI to real-world industrial challenges.

"I think the UAE has consistently been the most forward-looking country in the world for AI adoption. Going back to the launch of ChatGPT, this is a country that has decided to go all in on AI -- through its government and across its economy. It's an incredible embrace, and it has come from the leadership. There has been an acknowledgement that societies need to bet on these technologies," he said.

As the Strategic Conference got underway, the focus shifted to the decisions and investments required to strengthen energy systems and meet growing global demand.

The opening ministerial panel, 'Energy security is national security: building resilient supply in an uncertain world', His Excellency Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, United Arab Emirates, and Rt. Honourable Dr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Nigeria, discussed their countries' approach to ensuring secure and plentiful energy supply to enable their targeted economic growth.

Speaking about the UAE's strategy for further improving its energy sector resilience, HE Al Mazrouei said: "We need to build additional layers of protection to ensure we have enough resilience and spare capacity. All of this will require technology, and we will need AI to design better and become more resilient."

The opening CEO panel, 'Energy security in a fragmented world: designing systems that can absorb disruption', brought together Meg O'Neill, CEO, bp; Richard Jackson, President and CEO of Oxy; and Markus Krebber, CEO, RWE AG, to examine how the industry can safeguard supply, strengthen operational resilience and expand energy capacity.

Speaking about disruptions faced by the energy sector this year, Richard Jackson, President and CEO, Oxy, said: "For us, having gone through these shocks, our strategy has been durability. We talk a lot about resilience, but within our team, we think about durability over time...We have focused on sustainable cash flow and production, and we have taken advantage of the opportunity to invest in more durable production."

Beyond the conference halls, ADIPEC 2026's exhibition opened with 2,260 exhibitors across 16 halls. Bringing together companies from across the global energy value chain, the exhibition showcases technologies and solutions supporting energy security, operational performance and infrastructure development, while creating opportunities for commercial partnerships and investment.

Asia participation is the strongest in the event's history, with China, India, Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea among the 30 country pavilions. Four specialised zones, AI, Digitalisation, Low Carbon and Chemicals and Maritime and Logistics, host companies covering the full breadth of the energy value chain.

ADIPEC 2026 continues until 5 November, with more than 1,800 speakers across 13 conference programmes and over 380 sessions addressing the priorities shaping global energy. Over the coming days, discussions will focus on turning strategic priorities into investment decisions, partnerships and practical solutions that strengthen today's energy systems while expanding capacity for tomorrow.
