Snowflake and Oracle: Bringing the AI Data Cloud to OCI
Image File
Original HTML

Snowflake and Oracle are announcing the expansion of their partnership with Snowflake on OCI. When available, Snowflake on OCI will be a native, first-party offering that brings Snowflake's AI Data Cloud to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). The offering would bring Snowflake's capabilities across AI, analytics, data engineering and transactions, as well as applications and collaboration, closer to enterprise data in Oracle databases, applications and OCI services, with purchasing and billing directly through Oracle.

For Oracle customers, the opportunity extends beyond adding another platform to their environment. With this partnership, Oracle and Snowflake aim to help teams connect data from Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, Oracle NetSuite and Oracle database environments with other enterprise sources, build AI applications on governed information and run data workloads closer to Oracle systems hosted on OCI.

Connected data for trusted AI

A business decision rarely depends on information from just one application. Financial results need context from sales activity. Inventory plans depend on supplier performance and customer demand. AI becomes more useful when it can work with those connections rather than with just an isolated view of the business.

Snowflake on OCI is intended to help customers connect their enterprise data across Oracle applications and databases as well as other enterprise sources. That broader foundation could support both analytics and AI, helping teams and agents investigate what happened and evaluate what to do next.

The offering is planned to include data engineering and ingestion capabilities, along with role-based access controls and data access policies, to help customers govern data within Snowflake as they make it available for analysis.

Snowflake on OCI is intended to support this connected view of the business through integrations across Oracle applications and databases. More specifically, planned application integrations include Oracle Fusion Applications for ERP, HCM and SCM, along with NetSuite. Planned database integrations include cloud-hosted Oracle Database, Oracle Autonomous Database, MySQL HeatWave and Oracle NoSQL Database. Together with data from other enterprise sources, these connections could provide a broader foundation for analytics and AI, helping teams and agents investigate what happened and evaluate what to do next.

What could this partnership enable?

The planned offering could help organizations address business questions through AI-assisted workflows. The following examples illustrate potential uses of connected enterprise data and may not be reflective of functionality at launch.

Healthcare

Business question: Why are claim denials increasing for this service line, and which issues should we address first?

Use case: Connect clinical, claims and payment data to identify potential drivers of claim denials, prioritize billing issues and help recover unpaid revenue.

Manufacturing

Business question: If this production line stops, which customer orders are at risk and what are our alternatives?

Use case: Connect equipment and production data with orders, inventory and supplier information to assess delivery and revenue exposure and evaluate recovery options.

Retail

Business question: Where are we losing sales despite having inventory elsewhere, and where are markdowns becoming likely?

Use case: Connect sales and demand signals with inventory across stores and channels to identify stockout and excess-stock risks and guide replenishment, inventory transfers and markdown decisions.

Finance

Business question: Which overdue invoices are tied to delivery problems, disputes or customer risk?

Use case: Connect receivables with delivery, dispute and customer data to explain payment delays, prioritize collections and help teams resolve the underlying issues.

With Oracle applications supporting operational workflows and Snowflake bringing together broader business context through governed data, teams could investigate issues, identify opportunities and make better-informed decisions.

Familiar and integrated experience

Adopting a platform also involves purchasing, provisioning and managing it. For organizations already using OCI, bringing those activities into a familiar environment can be an important part of the decision.

Snowflake on OCI is planned as a native, first-party OCI service. Customers would contract directly with Oracle to purchase Snowflake, simplifying contracting requirements. They would be billed through OCI and access the service through an integrated OCI experience. The proposed commercial model also includes purchases using Oracle Universal Credits. After provisioning a Snowflake account through the OCI control plane, customers would manage its warehouses, databases, data pipelines and access controls using familiar Snowflake capabilities.

For customers, “native” and “first-party” would mean that Snowflake's AI Data Cloud runs on OCI, is available through Oracle's commercial channels and is accessible through an integrated OCI experience.

Integrated connectivity to Oracle applications and databases

It matters where customers process data, particularly when operational and analytical systems exchange information frequently. Customers already connect Oracle data sources to Snowflake today through native and partner connectors. This partnership expands on that strong foundation. The planned offering would use native integrations to bring data from supported Oracle applications and databases into Snowflake on OCI, reducing the need for custom pipelines and accelerating the use of that data for analytics and AI.

Running Snowflake's AI Data Cloud on OCI would place data and AI workloads closer to Oracle data hosted on OCI. Transferring data within OCI could help accelerate access and reduce cross-cloud data movement and associated egress costs.

For data teams, this could simplify connections between source systems and downstream workloads. For business leaders, it would provide another deployment option when evaluating costs and performance.

Extending choice across clouds

Snowflake on OCI is planned to support Snowflake's cross-cloud data sharing, replication, failover and related interoperability capabilities with Snowflake accounts on other supported clouds and regions, subject to technical validation and availability. Customers would also be able to manage their Snowflake on OCI account within an existing Snowflake organization or add other supported Snowflake accounts to an organization initially created with their Snowflake on OCI account.

Snowflake and Oracle share a goal: Help customers put more of their business data to work. The planned offering would bring together connected data for trusted AI, a familiar Oracle purchasing and provisioning experience, and closer connectivity to Oracle applications and databases.

NBA Team Strength Systems

The following handicapping information details betting systems for teams based upon some various team strength indicator or line scenarios. Unless noted, these are from the last six NBA seasons.

NBA Team Strength Betting System #7:

Double-digit NBA games have produced some definitive results on totals over the last five seasons, depending on what type of matchup it was. In divisional games featuring double-digit lines, Under the total has gone 146-127 (53.5%). And finally, in non-divisional conference games, Over the total was 369-300 (55.2%).

System Matches (PLAY ALL): OVER – SAC-SAS (spread SAS -17.5, o/u at 231.5)

UNDER – BKN-BOS (spread BOS -11.5, o/u at 223.5)

NBA Extreme Stats Next Game Systems

These systems search for extreme statistical performances in NBA games and detail the results of the follow-up game for the teams. These systems are from the last six seasons unless noted.

Early season large wins lead to Unders

NBA teams that won their previous game by 25+ points have gone Under the total at a 31-14-1 (68.9%) rate in games 2-5 of the season in the last 46 tries.

System Match (PLAY UNDER): BKN-BOS (o/u at 223.5)

Rout wins are a warning sign for next contest for hosts

NBA home teams coming off any game in which they beat the point spread by 20 points or more are 53-81-1 ATS (39.6%) in their last 135 divisional contests.

System Match (FADE ATS): BOSTON (-11.5 vs BKN)

Unusual shooting performance systems

NBA teams off a game in which they were granted 35 or more free throw attempts trended Under the total the next game, 424-364 (53.8%) since 2021.

System Matches (PLAY UNDER ALL): BKN-BOS (o/u at 223.5), POR-LAL (o/u at 233.5)

Strategies Using NBA DraftKings Betting Splits Data

One of the most touted features on the VSiN.com website, and a feature that we believe to be a fantastic resource for bettors, is the betting splits pages. These are the pages that we have built utilizing the data that DraftKings so graciously provides to us, detailing the breakdowns of the money & ticket splits for point spreads, money lines, and totals.

In an article published on the VSiN.com website on opening day, Steve Makinen outlined 14 different systematic strategies for successfully using the DK Betting Splits Data that were developed in the last three seasons. Here are the systems and qualifying plays for today’s games as of 11:45 a.m. ET. These can and will change, so continue to track and qualify the systems up until tip-off for best usage.

Looking back at the DK betting splits data for the full 2025-26 NBA regular season, there were 1322 games played for the sample. To summarize the overall findings, the side categories are almost identical to the 2024-25 season results, meaning, we should be continuing to see great results for all or most of the systems we’ve continued to track. The total numbers were much worse, indicating the public’s successes in the 2024-25 season may have been a fluke occurrence. In all, four of the six categories showed losses worse than -7% ROI. These were the results:

– Majority handle on point spreads: 653-652 ATS (50%), -64.2 units – ROI: -4.9%

– Majority number of bets on point spreads: 625-652 ATS (48.9%), -92.2 units – ROI: -7.2%

– Majority handle on money lines: 847-458 (64.8%). -131.65 units – ROI: -10.1%

– Majority number of bets on money lines: 894-424 (67.8%). -104.3 units – ROI: -7.9%

– Majority handle on totals: 650-643 (50.3%). -57.3 units – ROI: -4.4%

– Majority number of bets on totals: 636-667 (48.8%), -97.7 units – ROI: -7.5%

DK NBA Betting Splits system #1: When 63% or more of the handle was on the side of a home team playing as a four-point favorite or less (or as an underdog) on ATS wager, this “super” majority group has gone 235-205 ATS (53.4%) over the last four seasons, good for +9.5 units of profit and a ROI of 2.2%. This is fairly a profitable system that the public seems to get right consistently.

System Matches (PLAY ALL): NEW YORK (-3.5 vs DET), LA LAKERS (-2.5 vs POR)

DK NBA Betting Splits system #2: When 59% or more of the handle has been on the road side of an ATS wager, this “super” majority group has gone 976-890 ATS (52.3%) over the last four seasons. This has produced -3.0 units and a ROI of -0.2%. When a good portion of the overall money is on a road team in the NBA, it wins more often than not.

System Match (PLAY): SACRAMENTO (+18.5 at SAS)

DK NBA Betting Splits system #4: In another somewhat rare situation, but when there was a majority handle backing the team with fewer wins on the season in the NBA over the last 3+ seasons, that group produced a 565-511 ATS record (52.5%), good for +2.9 units of profit and a ROI of 0.2%.

System Matches (PLAY ALL): NEW YORK (-3.5 vs DET), SACRAMENTO (+18.5 at SAS)

DK NBA Betting Splits system #7: The number 63% or higher has been a key super-majority number in non-divisional conference games over the last 3+ seasons, with handle groups of that size boasting a 676-597 ATS record, good for 53.1%. This is about a 3% improvement on the overall majority figures and has netted +19.3 units of profit and an ROI of +1.5%.

System Matches (PLAY ALL): NEW YORK (-3.5 vs DET), SACRAMENTO (+18.5 at SAS), LA LAKERS (-2.5 vs POR)

DK NBA Betting Splits system #9: There has been a massive disparity of success levels for majority groups on handle when they back the home or road team on money line wagers. On home teams, these majorities have gone 1738-779 over the last three seasons but for -315.86 units and an ROI of -12.5%. On road teams, these majorities have gone 1,329-878 but for just -54.25 units and an ROI of -2.5%. This 10%+ disparity warrants fading ML majorities on home teams consistently.

System Matches (FADE ALL): NEW YORK ML (-155 vs DET), LA LAKERS ML (-135 vs POR)

DK NBA Betting Splits system #11: One of the best, simplest, and most frequent angles I have been able to uncover is when a majority of handle bettors were backing the Under in an NBA game. When any majority number has favored the Under option over the last four seasons, the results have been strong, with Under the total on these games going 554-461, good for 54.6%, +46.9 units, and an ROI of +4.6% since January 2023.

System Match (PLAY UNDER): BKN-BOS (o/u at 223.5)

DK NBA Betting Splits system #12: The average NBA game total since January of 2023 has been a bit over 228. In NBA games with “low” totals, or those less than 220, majority handle bettors have gone an impressive 487-422 (53.6%), while majority number of bets groups are a bit less at 480-438 (52.3%).

System Match (PLAY): OVER – DET-NYK (o/u at 218.5)

NBA Best Bets Today – Tuesday, October 27

Lakers ML (-133 – 1.5 units) vs. Trail Blazers

Trail Blazers at Lakers – 11:00 pm ET

This is a game in which the Blazers have a chance to change some narratives. If Portland can beat Los Angeles on the road, it might be time to start taking the team somewhat seriously. However, as of this moment, I’m not buying what we’ve seen from the group.

The Blazers have a nutty statistical profile because of blowout wins over the Suns and Kings, as they’re scoring 132.8 points per 100 possessions and allowing only 102.8 per 100. I’m expecting both numbers to come crashing down. Offensively, while this team is explosive in the backcourt — and has Deni Avdija’s ability to attack downhill — the team is always playing a couple of shaky offensive players. For as much as I love Toumani Camara and Donovan Clingan, having those two out there together should prevent a five-man unit from being next-level offensively. Then, on the other end of the floor, Camara and Clingan are two excellent defensive players, but the other three leave a heck of a lot to be desired. That said, I’m expecting Portland to really start falling off in a bit, and I don’t see this as a top-10 team on either end.

Against the Lakers, everything could come to a head. JJ Redick is going to try and make Camara and Clingan beat his team, and I’m not sure they’ll do that. I also think the Blazers could be in for a long night defensively. Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves will patiently call for screen after screen in order to get isolation opportunities with either Ja Morant or Damian Lillard on them. Best of luck with that, Portland.

Under Redick, Los Angeles also happens to be 35-17 straight-up in games with lines of +3 to -3. The Lakers are also 49-15 SU as home favorites. Los Angeles just doesn’t lose many of these games.

Added Plays (Late Picks, Parlays, Teasers, Futures)

Minnesota Timberwolves to Win NBA Title (17-1), Minnesota Timberwolves Most Regular Season Wins (17-1), Detroit Pistons Most Regular Season Wins (30-1 – 0.5 units) – I will have these written up in a separate story detailing the Thunder injury concerns surrounding Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace. Stay tuned!

Building an app has plummeted in cost. Building for everyone everywhere has ballooned. k-ID launches Kai: age-adaptive design as fast as developers can build.
Image File
Original HTML

Kai keeps apps current for the rules that apply to children, teens and adults.

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- k-ID today launched Kai, a self-serve SDK that makes any app age-adaptive. Every app has users of every age, but rules and regulations in a growing number of markets require that a child, a teenager and an adult receive different experiences. Most builders have no way to tell them apart, nor do they have the time and resources to invest. Kai changes all that in a super-streamlined integration that automatically deploys industry-leading age assurance, and then applies kID's age, consent and permission decisions for every user.

"Every app has users of every age, whether the people who built it planned for that or not. Making an app work properly for all of them has required recruiting specialists for months of work, so most apps simply treat everyone the same. Kai puts age-adaptive design within reach of anyone building, with one SDK, and keeps it true as the rules change," said Kieran Donovan, CEO, k-ID.

WHY NOW

Although the cost of developing an app has been steadily declining, shipping one app everywhere has become harder as the rules multiply, market by market. Three things have moved at once.

- Who is using the product. Userbases are growing with more younger users accessing apps, spread across more markets, and tapping into more of what an app can do. The only thing most builders know about them is a self-declared age, and in a growing number of markets that is no longer acceptable. Kai brings in age assurance at the point a feature needs it.

- How products get built. A small team can take an idea to a working app in hours, but cannot buy the specialist knowledge that makes it work for every age in every market, and should be building a product, not compliance infrastructure. A large company has that knowledge and still builds, reviews, takes the comments and rebuilds, because the answer arrives after the code. Kai puts the answer in the same cycle as the code, inside the coding agents builders already use.

- What the rules ask for. The obligation does not stop at the sign-up screen. It covers how the app behaves for each user, feature by feature and market by market. That is age-adaptive design. Kai applies it.

WHAT A BUILDER CAN DO ON DAY ONE

A builder signs up with no sales call and no credit card. They simply register, explain who the app is for, what it does, and add the SDK. Kai turns that into the permissions for each age.

The same build then behaves differently for different users. Chat might need a parent's approval for a twelve-year-old, be open to an adult, and behave differently again for two users of the same age in different markets, without the builder writing separate rules for each one. Any combination can be checked in Test before going live.

Kai applies k-ID's age, consent and permission decisions and shows what it applied. Certification, legal advice and the product itself stay with the builder, along with their privacy policy and terms.

KAI KEEPS UP WITHOUT NEW CODE

Constantly updating an app to account for changes in the law is daunting for any team. k-ID updates the rules behind Kai once it has tested them, and apps get those updates automatically with no new code and nothing for the builder to do.

LAUNCH PARTNERS

Age-adaptive design requires ecosystem participation and support to truly deliver a safer, more age-appropriate internet for everyone. k-ID is proud to partner with AWS, Checkstep, Deloitte, FastSpring, GGWP, Helpshift, Inworld, Modulate, Persona, Privately, Tremau, Veratad and Yes2Games as we bring Kai to builders everywhere.

BUILD FOR EVERYONE

Last week at the Build for Everyone Hackathon, hosted by Google in San Francisco, 15 teams built on Kai across consumer AI, gaming, marketplaces and social and education. The results included apps that taught reading and language or financial literacy with different levels of complexity based on age, created age-adaptive trading card and e-commerce marketplaces or plugins where teens could shop but not complete purchases across the web without parent permission, and an age-adaptive game similar to Pokémon GO where adults were encouraged to make new connections in their local communities but kids played a scavenger hunt within the safety of their own homes. The work was judged by Brian Behlendorf, a founder of Apache and a board member of the Linux Foundation, the Mozilla Foundation and the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and Jonathan Lai, a partner at Andreessen Horowitz and co-founder of a16z Speedrun. They were joined by Michael Carney of Google's Venture Capital and Private Equity team. To see the age-adaptive creations from Build for Everyone, please visit www.k-id.com/products/kai

Asked about why he was excited for the launch of Kai and the Build for Everyone Hackathon, veteran investor Jonathan Lai from Andreessen Horowitz responded, "Age-adaptive design will be a best practice for app development in the future. Just like how developers today design responsive apps optimized for both desktop and mobile use, developers going forward will design apps that are tailored with different user experiences based on age."

AVAILABILITY

Kai is available to every builder from today, for web, as a JavaScript and React SDK. Builders can sign up online and run a real result in Test immediately. There is no approval queue. Kai is free for the first 10,000 monthly users of each product, every month. Full information and pricing is at k-id.com/products/kai.

Columbus Home Care Company Marks Five Years, Plans to Hire 25 More Employees

The Perfect Companion has grown its local team to 65 as Ohio struggles to fill home care jobs

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Perfect Companion, a luxury concierge in-home senior care company, marks five years in Columbus this month and plans to hire 25 more employees, a push that comes as Ohio works to fill an estimated 17,000 home care aide openings every year.

The company opened its Columbus office in October 2021 and has grown its local team to 65. Concierge Care Director Debra Banchefsky has led the office since it opened.

The Perfect Companion provides non-medical in-home care, from companionship to help with daily routines, for older adults in Columbus and surrounding suburbs. The company matches caregivers to clients through a proprietary assessment that weighs personality as well as skill, trains caregivers to a Ritz-Carlton hospitality standard and has a live person answering its phones 24 hours a day, every day of the year. It has never franchised and has made the Inc. 5000 list of America's fastest-growing private companies five years in a row, most recently at No. 3,142 in 2026 with 96% three-year revenue growth.

The hiring comes as the state's senior population grows and home care workers remain scarce. Ohio has 43 home health and personal care aides for every 1,000 adults 65 and older, compared with 65 nationally, according to America's Health Rankings' 2026 Senior Report. In Franklin County, about 186,000 residents are 65 or older, or 13.7% of the population, according to 2024 U.S. Census Bureau estimates. That share was about 10% in 2010, and the Scripps Gerontology Center at Miami University projects the county's 65-and-older population will reach about 229,000 by 2040.

"I spent more than 30 years as a psychotherapist, and I still use that training every time we hire," said Jon Siegel, founder and president of The Perfect Companion. "I can walk into a room of 30 caregiving students and spot the one or two who have that spark, the ones who understand the person and not just the diagnosis. You can't teach that. Columbus has those people, and we want to find every one of them."

Keeping caregivers is its own challenge. Caregiver turnover at home care agencies has held around 75% for two years, according to Activated Insights' 2026 Benchmarking Report, which drew on roughly 1,100 home care agencies. Company-wide, 70% of The Perfect Companion's caregivers have been with the company for more than eight years. At the Statehouse, lawmakers are weighing House Bill 530, which would create a commission to study Ohio's long-term care workforce, including the demand for direct care workers. The bill cleared the House Workforce and Higher Education Committee 10-0 in June and awaits a floor vote.

Siegel's ties to Columbus go back more than four decades. From 1977 to 1982, he worked on the Ohio State University campus overseeing care for veterans living in nursing homes across Appalachian Ohio, in towns including Marietta, Zanesville and Cambridge. He later ran psychiatric units in Veterans Affairs hospitals, served as a captain and biomedical science officer in the U.S. Air Force and built a long career as a private practice geriatric psychotherapist. He founded The Perfect Companion in 2008.

"Columbus families want the same trusted face at the door, someone who knows Mom's routine and her stories," Banchefsky said. "Every caregiver we add has to be someone a family would want for years, not weeks."

Caregiver applicants can apply at https://www.azperfectcompanion.com/careers. Families can reach the Columbus office at 614-736-7991.

US WorldMeds Acquires Orbus Therapeutics, Expanding Commitment to Rare Diseases and Advancing Eflornithine in Adult Malignant Glioma

Acquisition builds on Phase 3 STELLAR study results showing clinically meaningful improvements in overall and progression-free survival in the subgroup of patients with recurrent IDH-mutant Grade 3 astrocytoma

LOUISVILLE, Ky. and MENLO PARK, Calif., Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- US WorldMeds Ventures, LLC and Orbus Therapeutics, Inc. today announced a definitive merger agreement under which US WorldMeds has acquired Orbus, a privately held pharmaceutical company developing investigational eflornithine for rare and serious brain tumors. The transaction adds Orbus' late-stage program in recurrent Grade 3 astrocytoma to US WorldMeds' rare-disease portfolio. US WorldMeds made an undisclosed upfront payment to Orbus, which will also be eligible for development, regulatory, and sales-based milestone payments, plus tiered royalties on net sales in the U.S. Orbus is now a wholly owned subsidiary of US WorldMeds.

Eflornithine, also called DFMO, inhibits ornithine decarboxylase, or ODC, an enzyme involved in cellular division and proliferation that is known to become upregulated in certain cancers. Orbus advanced oral eflornithine through the Phase 3 STELLAR study as a late-stage investigational therapy for recurrent Grade 3 astrocytoma, a rare and serious malignant glioma, and FDA granted the program Breakthrough Therapy designation for the treatment of anaplastic astrocytoma.

US WorldMeds currently commercializes IWILFIN® (eflornithine 192 mg tablets) for a separate rare oncology indication, providing established experience with the molecule and with therapies for underserved patient populations. This complementary experience positions US WorldMeds to build on Orbus' scientific and clinical work.

"The science and clinical results supporting eflornithine make this an especially exciting opportunity for US WorldMeds," said P. Breckinridge Jones, Chief Executive Officer of US WorldMeds. "We have built our company around bringing meaningful therapies to patients affected by difficult-to-treat and underserved diseases. The STELLAR study results provide a compelling foundation to build upon, and we believe our development and commercialization capabilities can help advance the program toward its next chapter."

Building on Phase 3 STELLAR Study results

The Phase 3 STELLAR study (n=343) evaluated eflornithine in combination with lomustine compared with lomustine alone in patients with recurrent Grade 3 astrocytoma based on the 2016 WHO classification. Although the study did not demonstrate a difference in overall survival between treatment arms in the overall intent-to-treat (ITT) study population, the study's primary endpoint, a subset analysis was planned to evaluate treatment effects in patients meeting the newly defined Grade 3 astrocytoma criteria per the 2021 WHO reclassification of brain tumors. The subset analysis, defined before unblinding, included patients with isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-mutant, Grade 3 astrocytoma (n=196) and showed clinically meaningful improvements in overall survival and progression-free survival in the eflornithine plus lomustine arm versus lomustine alone. No benefit was observed in patients with Grade 4 tumors as defined by the updated 2021 classification.

In the IDH-mutant Grade 3 astrocytoma subset analysis:

- Median overall survival was 34.9 months for patients receiving eflornithine plus lomustine compared with 23.5 months for those receiving lomustine alone (hazard ratio of 0.64).

- Median progression-free survival more than doubled as determined by investigator assessment, reaching 15.8 months versus 7.2 months with lomustine alone (hazard ratio of 0.57).

- Grade 3 or higher treatment-emergent adverse events of note included myelosuppression (42% vs. 29%) and hearing impairment (24% vs. 0%).

The STELLAR study findings were subsequently published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology (Colman et al., 2026), adding peer-reviewed context to the observed survival outcomes in patients with recurrent IDH-mutant Grade 3 astrocytoma.

"Orbus has built a strong scientific and clinical foundation for eflornithine," said Jason Levin, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Orbus. "US WorldMeds brings the development expertise, commercial infrastructure and commitment to patients needed to advance the program."

Advancing the next chapter of eflornithine in gliomas

US WorldMeds intends to build on Orbus' scientific and clinical work by evaluating the development and regulatory path for eflornithine in recurrent IDH-mutant Grade 3 astrocytoma and other potential opportunities in adult malignant glioma.

"This transaction is an opportunity to build on Orbus' work and responsibly evaluate eflornithine's potential in adult malignant glioma," said Jones. "It reflects our continued commitment to pursuing medicines that may meaningfully improve outcomes for patients with serious diseases. We look forward to engaging with FDA about the best path to advance this program for patients living with this rare and challenging to treat disease."

About Eflornithine

Eflornithine, also called DFMO, irreversibly inhibits ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), the rate-limiting enzyme in polyamine synthesis. Cancer cells, including glioma cells, depend on elevated polyamine levels to sustain rapid growth, which makes ODC a rational therapeutic target.

US WorldMeds markets eflornithine 192 mg tablets as IWILFIN® for a separate rare oncology use. Orbus's STELLAR trial results were achieved with an eflornithine oral solution which it has been developing for the treatment of recurrent Grade 3 astrocytoma.

Eflornithine is investigational for use in the treatment of gliomas, including astrocytoma; its safety and efficacy for the treatment of glioma have not been established, and it is not approved by FDA or any other regulatory authority for this use.
