Hier Pressesample anfragen: https://forms.gle/DVrxDX9T5RoGuZS69

Doch was steckt konkret dahinter?

ECOVACS Defines the Future of Robotic Floor Cleaning with Third-Generation OZMO ROLLER Technology

ECOVACS Defines the Future of Robotic Floor Cleaning with Third-Generation OZMO ROLLER Technology

BERLIN, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- At IFA 2026, ECOVACS is advancing the roller-mopping category it pioneered and helped define with the latest evolution of its proprietary OZMO ROLLER Instant Self-Washing Mopping Technology—OZMO ROLLER 3.0, featured in the new DEEBOT X12S OmniCyclone.

ECOVACS first introduced OZMO ROLLER with the DEEBOT X8 series in 2024, bringing the continuous clean-water circulation principle of floor washers into robotic vacuum cleaners. Since then, the technology has evolved through three generations—from the original OZMO ROLLER, to OZMO ROLLER 2.0 on DEEBOT X11, and now OZMO ROLLER 3.0 on DEEBOT X12S OmniCyclone.

The technology has also been adopted at scale. According to ECOVACS' internal shipment data, more than 2.8 million OZMO ROLLER-equipped units had been shipped globally as of July 2026.

While others are entering the category, ECOVACS is already advancing its technology into its third generation—built on two years of product development, real-world use and global market experience.

The Roller Changes the Cleaning Experience

The fundamental advantage of a roller is simple, the cleaning surface is continuously refreshed while the robot cleans.

Unlike conventional mop pads, which can accumulate dirt as they make repeated passes across the floor, OZMO ROLLER continuously cleans itself during operation. Fresh water is delivered to the roller before it reaches the floor, while loosened dirt and wastewater are removed as the roller rotates.

This creates a fundamentally different cleaning process: rather than cleaning the mop only after the task is complete, OZMO ROLLER keeps refreshing the cleaning surface throughout the task. The result is more consistent contact with a cleaner mopping surface from start to finish, helping reduce the risk of dirt being redistributed across the floor.

In other words, the goal is not simply to make a robot mop harder—it is to rethink how the robot cleans in the first place.

From One Generation to the Next

ECOVACS' development of OZMO ROLLER has been driven by a continuous focus on the challenges users encounter in real homes.

With OZMO ROLLER 2.0 on DEEBOT X11, ECOVACS further refined the water and mechanical systems behind its "wash as you mop" approach. Its proprietary spray–wash–scrape–collect process continuously supplies fresh water while removing loosened dirt and wastewater, helping maintain effective contact between the roller and the floor.

The system also evolved to address more demanding cleaning scenarios. A high-density nylon mop helps tackle tougher stains, while AI Stain Detection 2.0 adjusts cleaning strategies according to the type and severity of stains. TruEdge 3.0 helps the robot clean closer to walls and obstacles, reducing missed areas along edges and corners.

With OZMO ROLLER 3.0, ECOVACS takes the concept further. The longer roller is designed to improve cleaning efficiency, while the μm-level microfiber roller helps reduce residual water after cleaning. Each generation builds on the previous one with a clear objective: to deliver more effective cleaning while requiring less intervention from the user.

Technology Built to Keep Advancing

The evolution of OZMO ROLLER reflects more than a single product innovation. It is enabled by ECOVACS' broader capabilities across robotics, sensing, algorithms, core components and intelligent manufacturing, allowing the company to develop the robotic system around the cleaning task as a whole.

ECOVACS has been granted more than 3,100 patents and invested more than RMB 5.2 billion in R&D since 2018. These capabilities support the company's ability to translate insights from real-world use into successive generations of technology.

For ECOVACS, defining a category is only the starting point. The real measure of leadership is the ability to keep advancing it.

From the first OZMO ROLLER in 2024 to today's third-generation OZMO ROLLER 3.0, ECOVACS has continued to refine the roller-mopping experience around a simple principle: a mop should not become dirtier as it cleans.

With OZMO ROLLER 3.0, ECOVACS is continuing to push the boundaries of robotic floor cleaning—bringing the benefits of a continuously refreshed cleaning surface to more homes and setting a higher standard for what roller-mopping technology can deliver.

Motional Open-Sources Dataset to Help Autonomous Vehicles Master Human-Like Reasoning
Image File

- World's first reasoning-centric, long-tail scenario open dataset designed to teach autonomous vehicles (AVs) human-like reasoning and decision making

- Motional launches nuReasoning Challenge at European Conference on Computer Vision for researchers and practitioners to advance next-generation driving foundation models

- Dataset and Challenge developed in partnership with the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Mobility Lab and its Director, Professor Jiaqi Ma

BOSTON, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Motional, a leader in autonomous driving technology, announces the release of nuReasoning, the world's first reasoning-centric, long-tail scenario open dataset designed to teach autonomous vehicles (AVs) human-like reasoning and decision making. nuReasoning serves to advance the AV industry by training end-to-end autonomous systems with the common-sense intuition needed to navigate complex edge cases.

Today's most advanced artificial intelligence (AI) is moving beyond simply recognizing what it sees toward understanding the physical world, reasoning about what could happen next, and deciding how to act. Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models bring these capabilities together, but they need training data that teaches more than just the correct action, they also need to learn the logic behind that action. nuReasoning provides this missing supervision by teaching models to understand spatial relationships, reason about driving decisions, anticipate risks, and consider alternative outcomes.

Along with having 20,000 long-tail scenarios, nuReasoning provides unparalleled annotation. Each long-tail event, selected from Motional's millions of miles of driving data, has a video clip of at least 20 seconds that is embedded with high-quality and human verified reasoning. Through this annotation, researchers are able to understand not just what an AV perceives, but why specific actions were taken and why alternative choices were ruled unsafe.

A nuReasoning miniset release earlier this year has already been downloaded over 50,000 times, underscoring the need for a dataset of this kind within the advanced AI research community.

As shown above, one nuReasoning scenario features a nighttime construction zone and shows that the AV stopped before proceeding forward. The stop could be taken as the AV not understanding how to proceed through the zone. The scenario annotation details that the AV actually stopped correctly for a small animal crossing the road up ahead. Alternate routes were rejected because of construction barriers and the animal's unknown speed and direction.

"To safely expand AV fleets, autonomous driving systems must react to rare, chaotic edge cases with the same assured logic as an experienced human driver," said Phil Michel, Motional's Senior Vice President of Autonomy and AI. "At Motional, we're prioritizing transparent AI so we can clearly evaluate real-time decision-making and risk assessment. By making nuReasoning openly available, we're offering a shared foundation to help the entire industry solve edge cases and advance toward scalable autonomous operation."

To catalyze global research, Motional is hosting a nuReasoning Challenge, launching at the European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) in Sweden. The dataset and Challenge were created in partnership with the UCLA Mobility Lab and Professor Jiaqi Ma.

nuReasoning Dataset

Mined from real-world Motional fleet data across Las Vegas, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Boston, and Singapore, nuReasoning features:

- Over 105 hours of carefully selected reasoning intensive edge cases including unusual pedestrian activity, work zones and night road construction, animal crossings, and limited visibility scenarios.

- Diverse reasoning annotations support a broad range of VLA model training, including Spatial Reasoning, Decision Reasoning, and Counterfactual Reasoning.

- 247,000 reasoning annotations with human verified quality assurance.

- Multi-modal sensor types to provide complete scene representation in 3D space.

Additionally, Motional has integrated its proprietary Omnitag data search engine, giving nuReasoning researchers an intuitive navigation layer to query dataset distributions by scenario type, difficulty level, and location. Furthermore, Omnitag unlocks powerful natural language semantic search, allowing users to search complex tactical interactions, such as "emergency vehicle approaching behind with a construction site nearby " and instantly isolate matching data.

nuReasoning Challenge at European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV)

Motional and the UCLA Mobility Lab are hosting the nuReasoning Challenge, launching at ECCV in Sweden.

The Challenge is designed as a joint evaluation of planning and reasoning on 1,000 private-test scenarios.

- Explainable Trajectory & Motion Planning: Benchmarking physical motion planning accuracy and safety compliance when guided by explicit counterfactual reasoning.

- Long-Tail Visual Question Answering & Scene Reasoning: Evaluating a model's ability to accurately infer spatial relationships, causal decision traces, and risk factors in edge cases.

Interested participants can find more information here. Submissions will be evaluated, and Challenge winners will be announced at the Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS) in December.

Pioneering Open Safety Standards: From nuScenes to nuReasoning

nuReasoning extends Motional's legacy of advancing AV research through open data, beginning with nuScenes in 2019, the industry's first multi-modal public AV dataset, and continuing through nuImages, Panoptic nuScenes, and nuPlan. By providing open benchmarks, Motional empowers academic and commercial engineers to establish unified safety standards for AV perception, trajectory planning, and explainable AI.

Motional's datasets are available for commercial licensing or free academic use subject to Motional's non-commercial terms and conditions. Interested users can contact [email protected].

Sunsei Challenges Traditional Sunscreen Market with New Sheer, Plant-Based Mineral Line
Image File
Original HTML

Formulated with non-nano zinc oxide and nourishing plant oils, the brand swaps complex synthetic UV additives for radical ingredient clarity and no white cast

CHICAGO, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Sunscreen shouldn't require a chemistry degree. Yet somehow, an everyday product meant to protect our skin has become exactly that: long ingredient lists, synthetic UV filters, misleading labels and mineral formulas that can leave you looking like a ghost.

Sunsei thinks that's ridiculous.

The new plant-based mineral sun care brand is taking a decidedly different approach: 17 thoughtfully selected ingredients you can pronounce. 100% mineral-active sun protection. No synthetic chemical UV filters. And no white cast.

At the center of Sunsei is non-nano zinc oxide, paired with plant-derived, paraben-free ingredients, including sweet almond oil, green tea extract, and shea butter.

For Sunsei's founders, challenging the status quo is personal.

After a melanoma diagnosis made daily sunscreen non-negotiable, founding team member Mika Stambaugh started paying much closer attention to what she applied to her skin. She found herself choosing between products packed with ingredients she didn't recognize and mineral sunscreens that were thick, chalky and difficult to wear.

She wanted better. So she joined the team to create the sunscreen she couldn't find.

"After my melanoma diagnosis, sunscreen became something I had to wear every single day," said Stambaugh. "I couldn't understand why that meant choosing between ingredients I didn't recognize and a beauty product I didn't want to have to put on my skin every day and multiple times a day. I wanted something simple that I could feel good about putting on my skin—and that still made me feel pretty on a boat or walking the golf course."

The American Cancer Society projects 234,680 new cases of melanoma in the U.S. in 2026, underscoring the importance of making sun protection part of an everyday routine.

Sunsei's debut collection includes Sunsei SPF 30 ($32) for everyday wear and Sunsei SPF 45 ($32) for extended sun exposure. Both deliver broad-spectrum mineral protection without a white cast.

"We looked at the sunscreen aisle and thought, why are we all just accepting this?" said John Tinsley, founder of Sunsei. "We stripped it back to what matters. We're not interested in doing sunscreen the way it's always been done."

Sunsei is available now exclusively at sunseisunscreen.com.
