Milford Mining Secures USDA-Backed Financing to Advance Utah's Critical Minerals Production

$25 million loan will bolster America's domestic critical minerals supply

MILFORD, Utah, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Milford Mining Company Utah (MMCU) announced today that it has received a conditional commitment from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Business & Industry Loan Guarantee Program for $25 million in financing to support planned investments in the company's mining and processing operations in Milford, Utah. MMCU will invest the funds to expand its facilities, doubling the company's copper throughput and its valuation by the end of next year. The expansion is anticipated to create approximately 100 new jobs in rural Utah, adding to the company's current 180-person workforce.

"USDA is proud to support the future of rural communities. This $25 million dollar financing demonstrates what is possible when we put capital to work in rural communities, strengthen American industry, and support the hardworking men and women who power our economy," said U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins. "Milford Mining represents the kind of homegrown American enterprise that creates opportunity, strengthens local economies, and helps advance our nation's domestic mineral supply chains. Under President Trump's leadership, USDA is committed to ensuring rural businesses have the resources they need to grow, create jobs, and compete. This investment is a win for Utah and a win for American economic strength and independence."

The proposed 16.5-year arrangement will be privately financed through Magnolia Guaranteed Lending, a specialist division of Kentucky-based Magnolia Bank, a USDA-approved lender. Subject to the satisfaction of applicable conditions and completion of the financing, the investment will support capital improvements designed to modernize processing equipment, remove operational bottlenecks, improve efficiency and double the company's production capacity.

"We are proud to support investments that create economic opportunity and strengthen communities across rural Utah," said Stan Summers, USDA State Director for Utah. "This financing will help Milford Mining invest in its operations, create new jobs and support long-term economic growth in the region. I would like to thank President Donald Trump, USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins, and our hard-working employees who helped to make this game-changing opportunity happen. USDA is proud to work alongside our private-sector partners to provide them with access to capital."

MMCU is an established copper producer operating a fully permitted mining and processing facility. Beyond its existing production, MMCU's mine hosts diverse minerals that also include precious metals such as tungsten, antimony and other rare earth elements. With significant untapped exploration potential across its expansive 62,000-acre property, MMCU combines the stability of current production with a multi-commodity growth pipeline, making it one of the few U.S. operations able to deliver copper today while preparing for the future.

"This financing represents an important milestone for the long-term future of our operations in Utah," said Roger Barris, chairman of MMCU. "With the support of Magnolia Guaranteed Lending and the USDA loan guarantee program, we will make significant investments that strengthen our ability to supply copper and other critical minerals to American industry. Just as importantly, we will support the creation of new jobs and continued economic opportunity."

MMCU's operations align with the Trump Administration's executive order to increase domestic mineral production. The conditional commitment follows a year-long process of rigorous analysis and due diligence, including third-party appraisals and extensive review of the company's business plan, management, permitting, environmental status and detailed assessment of the planned expansion.

About Milford Mining Company Utah MMCU is an established, fully permitted open-pit copper mine in Milford Utah currently employing 180 workers. The company owns approximately 62,000 acres of contiguous land, with 90% of the land yet to be explored. MMCU represents one of the only domestic copper restarts in the United States in decades, having successfully reactivated operations at one of the highest-grade copper mines in the country.

Nicklaus Children's Hospital Performs One of the First Transcatheter Fontan Completions in the Country on a Two-Year-Old Child
Image File
Original HTML

Novel Transcatheter-Based Approach Allowed a Child with Congenital Heart Disease Avoid Additional Open-Heart Surgery

MIAMI, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Nicklaus Children's Hospital Heart Institute has successfully performed one of the first Fontan procedures in the United States utilizing a transcatheter-based approach on a child, marking an important advancement in care for children born with complex congenital heart disease.

In this novel procedure, the team used a catheter-based approach, rather than open-heart surgery, to guide specialized equipment through a blood vessel to complete the child's Fontan circulation. The child, a 2-year-old born with double-outlet right ventricle, is recovering well and has returned home.

For children who are candidates for the catheter-based approach, the procedure offers the advantage of no incisions, a shorter hospital stay and a faster recovery compared with traditional surgery.

The procedure was led by Dr. Shyam Sathanandam, chief of cardiovascular medicine at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, co-director of the Nicklaus Children's Heart Institute and clinical professor at FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, in collaboration with Dr. David Kalfa, chief of cardiovascular surgery and professor and researcher at FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Together, the interventional cardiology team and cardiovascular surgery team came together to carefully plan the procedure in the ongoing effort to offer less invasive approaches to care for children with congenital heart defects.

The Fontan procedure, which is traditionally the final planned stage in a series of operations for a child born with a single-ventricle heart defect, is designed to reroute the blood flow so that blood returning from the body goes directly to the lungs, without needing to be pumped there by a ventricle. In a single-ventricle heart defect, only one of the heart's two pumping chambers can effectively support circulation. The Fontan completion directs oxygen-poor blood returning from the lower body to the lungs without first passing through a pumping chamber of the heart. The prior surgeries prepare the heart for the final step.

"This achievement reflects an extraordinary level of collaboration and coordination between our surgical and interventional cardiology team," said Dr. Sathanandam. "It demonstrates what is possible when clinical expertise, innovation and teamwork come together to expand treatment options for children with the most complex heart conditions."

The Nicklaus Children's Heart Institute provides comprehensive care for infants, children and adults with congenital and acquired heart conditions. Its multidisciplinary specialists offer cardiac imaging, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiovascular surgery, critical care and long-term follow-up, with treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs. The Heart Institute provides access to consultations and follow up care to pediatric cardiac specialists in more than 13 locations spanning Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Martin counties. Launched during September's NICU Awareness Month, the integrated feature gives caregivers discreet access while preserving the softness, comfort, and timeless style associated with Paty clothing.

HOUSTON, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- In recognition of NICU Awareness Month, Paty, Inc., a Houston-based maker of premium infant and children's apparel, announced today that PatyPort™, its integrated gastrostomy tube (G-tube) access feature, is now available in selected garments.

PatyPort™ is built directly into the garment rather than added as a separate accessory. Its discreet, pleated opening is designed to give caregivers convenient access to a child's G-tube while maintaining the familiar look and feel of Paty apparel.

Observed each September, NICU Awareness Month honors NICU babies and families as well as the healthcare professionals who care for them. Paty is introducing PatyPort™ during the observance to recognize these families and help bring attention to practical needs that can continue beyond a child's hospital stay.

"PatyPort™ began with a request from a mom caring for a baby with a G-tube who was looking for an easier way to access her baby's feeding tube," said Caren Veillon, President and Creative Director of Paty. "Her request inspired us to create a thoughtful solution that provides discreet G-tube access while preserving the softness, comfort, and timeless style families expect from Paty."

For families who manage tube feeding, clothing can present an additional daily consideration. PatyPort™ offers a more seamless option by incorporating access into a thoughtfully designed garment that children can comfortably wear throughout the day.

The feature reflects Paty's commitment to listening to families and adapting its signature designs to serve their real-world needs. PatyPort™ garments retain the quality construction and classic styling for which the brand is known, allowing the functional detail to remain subtle.

Selected garments featuring PatyPort™ are available now at patyinc.com

Oakwell Beer Spa Signs First Franchise Deal, Bringing Social Wellness Concept to Las Vegas

Husband-and-wife team, Andrew and Gina Lanzino, become the wellness brand's first franchisees, marking a landmark moment in Oakwell's national expansion

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Oakwell Beer Spa, the Colorado-based social wellness brand known for pairing private spa suites with a craft beer and wine taproom, announces the signing of its first franchise agreement, bringing the Denver-born concept to Las Vegas.

Husband-and-wife team, Andrew and Gina Lanzino, will develop the brand's debut location outside of Colorado, becoming Oakwell's first franchisees since the company began offering franchise opportunities earlier this year.

The agreement marks a significant milestone for Oakwell, which has spent the past several years building a devoted following in the Greater Denver area around a first-of-its-kind concept: a hospitality-driven, technology-enabled wellness experience that combines private hydrotherapy and sauna experiences with a social food and beverage component. Designed to reduce reliance on one of the wellness industry's most persistent operational challenges, licensed service provider staffing, the concept has attracted a broad audience that extends well beyond traditional spa-goers. Oakwell has identified more than 100 target growth markets nationwide as it begins to scale beyond its two corporate locations in Colorado.

"Andrew and Gina are exactly the kind of partners we hoped to find as we opened Oakwell Beer Spa to franchising," said Jessica Zouaoui, Co-Founder and CEO of Oakwell Beer Spa." They understand that this business is built on hospitality first, and they bring the strategic discipline and people skills to deliver it. Las Vegas is a market that demands excellence, and we trust them to set the standard for every franchisee who follows."

A Personal Connection to a City That Never Slows Down

Air Force veteran Andrew Lanzino relocated to Las Vegas in 2004 after completing his military service, where he went on to earn both a bachelor's degree and an MBA from UNLV. What began as a move for school ultimately became a permanent home after he met his wife, Gina. Today, the couple is raising two children, both born in Las Vegas, making the opportunity feel personal as well as professional.

Prior to Oakwell Beer Spa, Andrew spent more than 20 years as a corporate strategist, most recently serving as Senior Vice President of Strategy & Citywide Events at MGM Resorts International, where he helped bring major events to life, including Super Bowl LVIII, the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, and New Year's Eve on the Strip.

"I've spent years working on the biggest events this city puts on, and what I've learned is that Las Vegas runs at full speed around the clock," said Andrew Lanzino, Founding Franchisee of Oakwell Beer Spa. "The world is stressful, everyone has packed too much into their schedules, and most people don't have many places to go that aren't another bar, restaurant, or gym. We want to give them somewhere to slow down, reconnect, and genuinely relax. That's what drew us to Oakwell."

Today, Andrew teaches Strategy & Implementation at UNLV's Harrah College of Hospitality while pursuing a PhD in Global Tourism & Hospitality. Gina brings experience across sales, marketing, operations, and entrepreneurship and currently serves as Founder and President of 5678 Dance, a Las Vegas nonprofit that supports local dancers.

"Oakwell Beer Spa is the best of both worlds," said Gina Lanzino, Founding Franchisee of Oakwell Beer Spa. "It's a place where Andrew and I can spend time relaxing and connecting in an environment that feels designed for both of us. That's rare, and I think a lot of couples in this city are going to feel the same way."

From Prague to Las Vegas

Andrew first discovered the concept while visiting a beer spa in Prague during his MBA studies. Over the years, he explored ways to bring the idea to Las Vegas, but it wasn't until he discovered Oakwell Beer Spa that he found a concept that aligned with his vision.

The connection felt especially fitting because Oakwell's founders were also inspired by experiences abroad. Before launching the company, Jessica and Damien Zouaoui spent 14 months traveling through 25 countries in search of unique hospitality concepts they could bring to the United States and eventually scale through franchising.

Finding the Right Space

The Lanzinos are now evaluating locations for their first Oakwell Beer Spa, with a particular focus on the Las Vegas Arts District – one of the city's most dynamic neighborhoods for residents and visitors seeking an authentic Las Vegas experience beyond the Strip.

"As longtime Las Vegas residents, we know that some of the city's most exciting experiences happen off the Strip," said Andrew Lanzino. "The Arts District is walkable, full of character, and home to the kind of independently owned businesses that create lasting connections with guests. We can easily envision Oakwell becoming part of that fabric."

The Bigger Picture

Las Vegas is just the beginning. Since opening its first location in Denver in 2021, Oakwell Beer Spa has expanded to multiple company-owned locations and refined a hospitality-first operating model designed to make wellness experiences more accessible for guests and more scalable for operators. The brand is actively pursuing franchise expansion in markets across the country, including Phoenix, Austin, Atlanta, Detroit, Boston, Kansas City, and Charleston.

"When we started Oakwell, we weren't just trying to build a spa," said Damien Zouaoui, Co-Founder and Chief Growth Officer. "We wanted to create a hospitality concept that guests would love and that operators could easily scale. Andrew and Gina embody everything we were looking for in our first franchise partners. They care deeply about their community and share our vision for what Oakwell can become as we expand across the country."

PROVIDENCE, R.I, and DALLAS, Texas, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Procaccianti Companies and its joint venture partner, Rugger Capital, today announced the acquisition of Charleston Harbor Resort, a 217-key waterfront property in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The resort will be managed by Procaccianti's hospitality affiliate, TPG Hotels & Resorts. In parallel, Suntex Marinas announced its acquisition of the adjacent Charleston Harbor Marina, one of South Carolina's largest in-water marinas, with more than 450 slips accommodating vessels ranging from recreational cruisers to superyachts.

The resort and marina together anchor one of the Southeast's premier waterfront destinations, combining resort hospitality and boating with convenient access to historic downtown Charleston. Each property will be managed separately, with both the marina and resort maintaining specialized ownership and operating expertise.

In the coming months, Procaccianti will explore a comprehensive renovation and repositioning of the Charleston Harbor Resort that is designed to enhance the guest experience and unlock long-term value. At the Charleston Harbor Marina, Suntex, whose national portfolio now exceeds 100 marinas across 17 states, will own and operate the marina.

"Charleston Harbor Resort is exactly the kind of irreplaceable waterfront asset we seek to own for the long term, and we are proud to have brought this partnership together," said John Phelan, Founder and Chairman of Rugger Capital. "We see meaningful potential to add value to the property, attract even more visitors to the nearby Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum, and expand our programmatic relationship with TPG Hotels & Resorts."

"The combination of a premier waterfront location, strong operating fundamentals, multiple demand generators, and meaningful opportunities for value creation makes this an exceptionally compelling acquisition in one of the country's strongest hospitality markets," said Robert Leven, Chief Investment Officer of Procaccianti Companies.

"Charleston Harbor Marina represents an important evolution in how we approach waterfront opportunities," said Bryan Redmond, Chief Executive Officer of Suntex Marinas. "Together, Procaccianti Companies, Rugger Capital, and Suntex have created a solution where the separately owned and operated marina and resort complement one another and strengthen the overall waterfront destination. We look forward to building on this approach across other markets nationwide where hospitality and boating intersect."

The new owners intend to invest meaningfully in the properties in the years ahead, deepening Charleston Harbor's role as a destination for visitors, boaters, and the Mount Pleasant community.

Fewer Blood Components Transfused with fibryga® Than Cryoprecipitate, Secondary Analysis of Prespecified FIBRES Subgroups Reports
Image File
Original HTML

Findings published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia

Secondary findings do not change the primary outcomes of the FIBRES trial

PARAMUS, N.J. and TORONTO, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A prespecified secondary analysis of the landmark FIBRES trial demonstrated that fibryga® (fibrinogen [human]) significantly reduced 24-hour allogeneic blood-product (ABP) transfusion requirements versus cryoprecipitate in two predefined, overlapping subgroups: patients in a non-critical state before surgery and patients undergoing elective surgery.1

These findings have been published as a peer-reviewed article in the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia, titled Superiority of Fibrinogen Concentrate Versus Cryoprecipitate for Treatment of Bleeding in Cardiac Surgery Patients: A Secondary Analysis of the FIBRES Randomized Clinical Trial Stratified by Surgical Risk.

The newly published analysis evaluated two subgroups that had been defined before the trial results were analyzed. Results from this analysis do not change the primary conclusion of the primary FIBRES trial. In the overall study population, fibryga® met the trial's prespecified criterion for non-inferiority to cryoprecipitate.2,3

"These findings provide additional evidence and guidance around fibrinogen replacement in cardiac surgery patients who develop clinically significant bleeding and acquired hypofibrinogenemia," said Justyna Bartoszko, M.D., lead author of the analysis and a member of the FIBRES Research Group. "Blood transfusions can be lifesaving, but an efficient patient blood management strategy seeks to avoid unnecessary exposure to allogeneic blood components, as they are known to increase the risk of postoperative complications."4

Findings from the secondary subgroup analysis

The first subgroup consisted of participants from the FIBRES trial who were determined to be in a non-critical state before surgery (n=634), representing 86% of the primary analysis population. In this subgroup, there was a 19% relative reduction in ABP units transfused within 24 hours in patients receiving fibryga® versus cryoprecipitate (13.6 units vs. 16.2 units).

The second subgroup consisted of FIBRES trial participants undergoing elective surgery (n=466), representing 63% of the primary analysis population. In this subgroup, there was a 19% relative reduction in ABP units transfused within 24 hours in patients receiving fibryga® versus cryoprecipitate (11.7 units vs. 14.4 units).

"When clinically appropriate for a patient with acquired fibrinogen deficiency, a standardized fibrinogen concentrate provides targeted replacement," said Huub Kreuwel, Ph.D., Vice President of Medical Affairs, Octapharma USA.5 "While the primary results from FIBRES have not changed, secondary analyses such as these provide relevant information about specific patient subgroups which may be useful for informing institutional patient blood management protocols."

Safety findings

In the full study population, 248 (66.7%) patients in the fibryga® group and 264 (72.7%) patients in the cryoprecipitate group experienced treatment-emergent adverse events during the study (relative risk, 0.92; 95% CI, 0.83-1.01; P=0.07).

Within the elective-surgery subgroup, adverse events were less frequent among patients assigned to fibryga® than among patients assigned to cryoprecipitate (relative risk, 0.85; 95% CI, 0.75-0.97; P=0.02). Serious adverse events were also less frequent among fibryga® recipients in the elective surgery subgroup (relative risk, 0.71; 95% CI, 0.52-0.99; P=0.04).

No treatment-emergent AEs, SAEs, or deaths in the study were deemed to be possibly or probably related to FC or cryoprecipitate.

These findings should not be interpreted as establishing an overall safety advantage, and the safety of fibryga® should be evaluated in accordance with its current U.S. prescribing information.

About the FIBRES trial

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's approval of fibryga® for fibrinogen replacement in patients with acquired fibrinogen deficiency (AFD) was supported by the landmark FIBRES study published in JAMA. The study demonstrated that fibrinogen concentrate is non-inferior to cryoprecipitate in managing bleeding following cardiac surgery, with the added benefits of standardized dosing, faster preparation, and reduced risk of viral transmission.

FIBRES was an investigator-initiated, pragmatic, multicenter, randomized clinical trial conducted at 11 Canadian hospitals (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier NCT03037424). The study enrolled adults undergoing cardiac surgery who developed clinically significant bleeding and acquired hypofibrinogenemia after cardiopulmonary bypass for whom fibrinogen replacement was ordered. The FIBRES trial was supported by an unrestricted grant from Octapharma, which also provided the fibrinogen concentrate used in the study. Funding was also provided by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Cryoprecipitate was provided by Canadian Blood Services and Héma-Québec. Full author disclosures are reported in the published article.

A total of 827 patients were randomized. Of these, 735 patients received study treatment and were included in the primary analysis: 372 received fibryga® and 363 received cryoprecipitate. Each ordered dose consisted of 4 grams of fibryga® or 10 units of cryoprecipitate during the first 24 hours after cardiopulmonary bypass.

The primary endpoint was the cumulative number of allogeneic blood-component units – red blood cells, platelets and plasma – administered during the first 24 hours after bypass. In the overall population, the mean number of blood-component units administered was 16.3 with fibryga® and 17.0 with cryoprecipitate. The ratio of the means was 0.96, with a two-sided 95% confidence interval of 0.84 to 1.09. The trial met its prespecified non-inferiority criterion, with P0.001 for non-inferiority. The test for superiority in the overall population was not statistically significant, with P=0.50.

About fibryga®

fibryga® is a human fibrinogen concentrate indicated for: fibrinogen supplementation in bleeding patients with acquired fibrinogen deficiency; and treatment of acute bleeding episodes in patients with congenital fibrinogen deficiency, including afibrinogenemia and hypofibrinogenemia.

fibryga® is not indicated for dysfibrinogenemia.

Contraindications

Anaphylactic or severe reactions to fibryga® or its components (Sodium Citrate Dihydrate; Glycine; L-Arginine Hydrochloride).

Warnings and Precautions

Monitor patients for early signs of hypersensitivity or allergic reactions. If necessary, discontinue administration and institute appropriate treatment.

Thrombotic events have been reported in patients receiving fibryga®. Treatment with human fibrinogen concentrate in congenital fibrinogen deficiency has been associated with thrombosis at target plasma fibrinogen levels that were below 150 mg/dL. The thrombotic risks may be greater when the target fibrinogen plasma level is 150 mg/dL. Weigh the benefits of administration versus the risks of thrombosis.

fibryga® is made from pooled human plasma. Products made from human plasma may contain infectious agents, e.g., viruses and, theoretically, the Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) agent.

Adverse Reactions

The most serious adverse reactions that may be observed with fibryga® are thromboembolic episodes and anaphylactic-type reactions. The most common adverse reactions observed in clinical studies with fibryga® in acquired fibrinogen deficiency (>5% of patients) were abnormal hepatic function, acute kidney injury, anemia, atrial fibrillation, delirium and renal failure.

The most common adverse reactions observed in clinical studies with fibryga® in congenital fibrinogen deficiency (>5% of patients) were nausea, vomiting, pyrexia (fever), and thrombocytosis.
