baraka launches investments on DFM and ADX for UAE investors

- Eligible customers can invest in companies listed on Dubai Financial Market and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange through baraka, with local investments funded in AED.

- More than 70% of baraka investors are under 35, highlighting the growing participation of younger investors in regional capital markets.

- UAE-listed companies join nearly 10,000 local and global assets available through one baraka account.

- Investor Number issuance is supported through baraka's onboarding flow, removing the need for a separate application outside the platform.

- The launch forms part of baraka's evolution into a broader investment platform spanning local and international securities, Shariah-compliant investment choices and precious metals.

DUBAI, UAE, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- baraka (www.getbaraka.com), the DIFC-based investment platform regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority, today announced that eligible customers can now invest in companies listed on Dubai Financial Market (DFM) and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) directly through the baraka app. baraka's customers from more than 100 nationalities will be able to fund local investments in AED.

The launch marks the latest stage in baraka's evolution into a comprehensive investment platform spanning UAE and US securities, options trading, Sharia-compliant investment choices and precious metals (Gold, Silver), including physical delivery, giving customers access to nearly 10,000 assets across local and global markets through one account.

Local-market access has consistently been one of the most requested features among baraka customers, reflecting demand to invest in the UAE enterprises they interact with every day. By August, the number of customers investing in UAE stocks through baraka had increased more than 25x from an initial pre-launch pilot.

The UAE stocks that have attracted the most interest from baraka customers include Emaar Properties, ADNOC Gas, ADNOC Distribution, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Salik, spanning real estate, energy, banking and infrastructure.

The launch comes as activity across the UAE's domestic capital markets continues to deepen. DFM ended June 2026 with a market capitalization of AED 981.6 billion after total traded value rose 40.4% year on year to AED 119.5 billion during the first half of the year. Average daily traded value reached more than AED 1 billion. DFM also added 42,864 investors during H1, with international investors accounting for 71.4% of new registrations.

ADX had a market capitalisation of AED 2.8 trillion at the end of June 2026, with H1 trading value of AED 171 billion and total trading volume of 50.3 billion shares. The exchange added more than 30,000 investors during the period, of whom 77% were foreign.

The expansion of the UAE's listed markets has been accompanied by a broader drive to increase capital formation and investor participation. Dubai's Financial Sector Strategy includes initiatives to encourage more family businesses and start-ups to list, while Abu Dhabi's AED 5 billion IPO Fund was established to support private-sector businesses through the listing process and deepen the emirate's capital markets.

Feras Jalbout, Founder and CEO of baraka, said: "The opportunity set in the UAE has expanded dramatically, with the businesses shaping the country's growth now accessible through its public markets. For Emiratis and residents, this is an opportunity to own a stake in the economy and build their future through equity investments. Bringing DFM and ADX stocks to baraka means our customers can build portfolios that reflect both global opportunities and the economic champions of the place they call home."

Among customers who joined baraka in 2026, 42% selected long-term investing as their objective. Around two thirds of baraka's funded customers had never invested before joining the platform, making baraka the starting point for a significant share of its investor base.

Since the availability of local investing, 87% of UAE-stock orders placed through baraka have been purchase orders, an early indication that customers are building long-term positions in UAE companies. Volvo Group announces energy park initiative as next step in Mariestad

GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Volvo Group announces next step in the Mariestad expansion process with plans for an energy park near the intended battery cell production site. The energy park will be developed along two parallel tracks: a large-scale battery storage facility and a future test bed for innovative energy solutions. Initially, the park is expected to provide approximately 70 MW/260 MWh of battery storage capacity, making it one of the largest energy parks in Sweden. The battery storage facility will support grid stability in the region, while the future test bed will enable the development and testing of new energy solutions. Together, the two tracks will contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable and resilient energy system.

The transformation towards fossil-free transport solutions continues at Volvo Group and in society at large, and the Volvo Mariestad energy park will be a physical site supporting that journey. The park will grow step by step over time. As a first step, large-scale quantities of energy storage that will store electricity to support the grid will be installed. For this stage the Volvo Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) from Volvo Energy will be utilized. As Volvo Group has most of its Swedish production in the region, the park will add capacity and support resilience in the grid for a region with high energy consumption.

In addition, it will drive learnings for Volvo Group and its customers and other partners in the societal transition towards lower emissions. It will be used as a customer demonstration site on a real scale and with real business cases and capabilities as energy solutions and offerings for customers will be further developed and advanced.

The energy park is expected to become operational during 2027 and will provide flexibility and stability to the regional energy market, including through flexibility services meaning that the stored energy can flow back into the local grid and provide power when needed and thus strengthening energy access and resilience.

"This initiative is a natural next step in the development of our Mariestad facility and reflects our vision of a more robust, flexible and sustainable energy system," says Lars Stenqvist, responsible for the development of Mariestad site at Volvo Group. "The energy park in Mariestad, that will be one of the largest in Sweden with some 70MW/260 MWh of battery storage will support Volvo Group's and Sweden's decarbonization ambitions. It will also be a great test bed for testing and further advance energy solutions for our customers."

As previously announced, Volvo Group is establishing a large-scale battery cell production plant to meet growing demand for battery-electric heavy-duty vehicles and machines. Located near the planned energy park, the plant is scheduled to begin production after 2030. Together with Volvo Group's existing powertrain plant in nearby Skövde, the battery cell plant and energy park will strengthen Volvo's industrial and logistics cluster in the region and create opportunities for shared infrastructure and capabilities.

In the news release, CordenPharma Boosts Aseptic Fill-Finish Capacity to 500 Million Sterile Injectable Units Per Year, issued 10-Sep-2026 by CordenPharma over PR Newswire, we are advised by the company that changes have been made. The complete, corrected release follows, with additional details at the end:

CordenPharma Boosts Aseptic Fill-Finish Capacity to 500 Million Sterile Injectable Units Per Year

CordenPharma accelerates sterile injectable CDMO manufacturing expansion with €80 million multi-year investment in new facility and additional aseptic fill & finish lines

BASEL, Switzerland, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- CordenPharma continues its ambitious long-term injectable CAPEX program at its FDA & EMA-approved Caponago (Milan), Italy site, reinforcing its position as a global leader in sterile injectable manufacturing. The expansion involves two key components to augment manufacturing capacity for sterile injectable drug products.

Firstly, the company has committed a multi-year €80 million investment into the future of injectable drug products, marking a significant milestone of that total with a €13 million acquisition of a new 11,000 m² commercial building and 26,000 m² of land, adjacent to its existing late-stage aseptic fill & finish manufacturing area. This expansion was finalized on 28 July 2026, increasing the site footprint by greater than 50%.

The new facility offers a blank canvas ideal for innovators seeking fit-for-purpose aseptic fill & finish CDMO outsourcing of their peptide, LNP, small molecule, biologic, and oligonucleotide-based injectable therapeutics, tailored to their specific production setups and requirements. The expanded capacity is a versatile foundation for the integration of additional manufacturing lines supporting a wide range of injectable formats including Pre-Filled Syringes (PFS), liquid or lyophilized vials, cartridges, and auto-injectors. Customers will also benefit from a single-site offering injectable solutions integrated with LNP manufacturing capabilities on the same campus at CordenPharma Caponago.

The space can accommodate a minimum of four aseptic fill & finish lines, four visual inspection lines, and four additional packaging lines, with options for customer-owned lines, large-scale lyophilization, and auto-injector assembly.

Secondly, over the past two years, CordenPharma has embarked on a series of strategic expansions at an existing operational area within its Caponago site that immediately contributes to the increased injectable capacity by adding two new aseptic fill & finish isolator lines. These include:

- A clinical and small-scale commercial combo line from Bausch & Ströbel for Pre-Filled Syringes (PFS), vials, and cartridges.

- A high-speed PFS & cartridge line from Syntegon, capable of producing >500,000 units per day.

- Expansion of the automatic secondary packaging area for PFS, vials, and ampoules.

- A doubling of analytical capacity to support growing project pipelines.

Completion of the new isolator lines is targeted for mid-2027 and 2028 respectively, ensuring CordenPharma remains at the forefront of sterility assurance and long-term compliance during sterile injectable manufacturing.

The investment in these new and expanded facilities underscores a proactive approach to addressing the global healthcare industry's increasing need for specialized injectable manufacturing. With these combined investment milestones bolstering a landmark scale-up in production with a projected total capacity up to 500 million injectable units per year, CordenPharma is poised to support innovators across their injectable drug lifecycle from early-phase projects to large-scale commercial production.

This capacity surge helps meet the rising global demand for sterile injectable outsourcing across therapeutic areas such as oncology, obesity, diabetes and Inflammatory diseases with complex modalities such as peptide-based GLP-1 therapeutics, oligonucleotides, LNPs, biosimilars and other biologics.

The company's customers will also gain valuable access to integrated solutions from drug substance to drug products, leveraging CordenPharma's global facility network and expertise in manufacturing peptides (including oral peptide drug products), oligonucleotides, non-viral carriers such as LNPs, and small molecules, including both highly potent and non-potent APIs.

Dr. Michael Quirmbach, President & CEO of CordenPharma Group, commented: "The support of our shareholders, Astorg, underscores our commitment to advancing sterile injectable manufacturing at CordenPharma Caponago. This strategic investment strengthens our leadership in the manufacture of drug products using complex modalities and enhances our end-to-end supply capabilities to meet rising global demand for injectable outsourcing, ultimately enabling partners to bring vital drug products in key therapeutic areas to patients more efficiently."

Europe's 2028 Reusable Packaging Mandate Creates a New Crisis: Who Washes the Cups?

BMI Korea, the 30-year high-pressure washing engineer from Korea says the bottleneck isn't collection — it's cleaning

HWASEONG, South Korea, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- From February 12, 2028, EU food service establishments offering takeaway must provide reusable packaging within a formal reuse system. Non-compliance risks fines and market restrictions. But one question remains: who washes the millions of cups now circulating through Europe's economy?

The EU generated 79.7 million tonnes of packaging waste in 2023 — 177.8 kg per citizen. Only 42.1% of plastic packaging was recycled. Global disposable cup demand will reach 491 billion units by 2028. The UK consumes 7 million cups daily, producing 30,000 tonnes of waste annually.

UNEP data shows reusable cups cut emissions by up to 69% versus single-use. The EU PPWR mandates waste reduction of 5% by 2030, 10% by 2035, and 15% by 2040. But washing infrastructure does not exist in most European markets.

BMI Korea, a 30-year manufacturer of high-pressure washing equipment, says it has solved this. Its HPW-5000 washes up to 5,000 reusable cups per hour at 50 BAR — five times faster than manual washing — without damaging cups. It installs at the front end of existing wash lines, requiring no full-line replacement.

The system has operated in Korea for over two years, replacing 4–5 manual workers per line. A unit is scheduled for delivery to Japan this October. BMI Korea holds 89+ installations across 28 countries, including lines for the world's leading bottled water brands.

"Reusable cups cut emissions 69% — but only if operators can wash them fast enough. Europe legislated the deadline. It has not built the washing capacity. That's the crisis we solve."

— Sang Koo Lee, CEO, BMI Korea

Three models: HPW-5000 (5,000 cups/hr), HPW-1000 (1,000 cups/hr), and Lid Washer (1,000 lids/hr).

FAQ

Q: Where is it already operating?

A: Korea — 2+ years continuous operation. Japan — delivery October 2026. 89+ installations across 28 countries.

Q: What problem does it solve?

A: Manual pre-washing is the bottleneck — staff scrub cups by hand, slow and inconsistent. The HPW-5000 automates this at 5x speed, replacing 4–5 workers per line.
