SBCA Announces New Executive Director

Experienced Association Executive Brings More

Than 30 Years of Leadership Experience to SBCA

BILLINGS, Mont., Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Structural Building Components Association (SBCA) is pleased to announce Steve Skodak, CAE, CFRE, as its new Executive Director, effective September 8, 2026.

Skodak brings more than 30 years of experience leading trade associations, foundations, and nonprofit organizations. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Building Performance Association and Building Performance Foundation, national organizations serving more than 26,000 professionals in the home performance and energy efficiency industry.

Throughout his career, Skodak has worked closely with boards, members, volunteers, and staff to strengthen organizations, expand education and professional development, develop workforce initiatives, create new sources of revenue, and identify opportunities to help members and businesses succeed. His experience also includes national conferences, industry standards and accreditation, government partnerships, advocacy, technology modernization, and organizational growth.

"Steve brings a depth of association leadership experience and, just as importantly, a genuine interest in the people and businesses that make an industry successful," says Larry Dix II, SBCA President. "His experience with member-driven organizations and his commitment to listening, building relationships, and understanding what members need from their association really stood out. SBCA has tremendous momentum, and we are excited to have Steve join us as we continue building on that foundation and advancing the structural building components industry."

For Skodak, joining SBCA also provides an opportunity to reconnect with industries and trades that were part of his upbringing. He grew up in Central Michigan, where General Motors, family farms, and the skilled trades played a major role in the community. His father retired from GM as a pipefitter, and his mother's family operated a dairy farm. Through strong trades programs in his schools, Skodak gained hands-on experience in welding, woodworking, electrical work, small engine repair, automotive, and building trades.

"I have always had a real appreciation for people who know how to make, build, and fix things, so I am excited to get to know the people behind this industry," says Skodak. "I am looking forward to spending time with our members, volunteer leadership, and staff, hearing about the opportunities and challenges they are facing, and understanding where SBCA can be most helpful. Most of all, I am excited to work together to build on the great work already happening at SBCA and support the continued success of our members and the industry."

Prior to leading the Building Performance Association, Skodak served as executive director of the Painting Contractors Association and PCA Education Foundation, the Optimist International Foundation, and the Mid-America Chapter of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America. He began his career in YMCA leadership before spending eight years developing and implementing technology solutions for membership organizations.

Skodak earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Marketing from Missouri State University and holds Certified Association Executive (CAE) and Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credentials. He has served as president of the St. Louis Society of Association Executives and the St. Louis Planned Giving Council and serves as a neutral arbitrator for FINRA.

Outside of work, Skodak enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, as well as golfing, kayaking, hiking, camping, and getting together with family and friends. A longtime aviation enthusiast, he also maintains an appreciation for just about anything with wings and a propeller.

Skodak succeeds the interim leadership team of Molly Butz and Greg Greenlee, P.E., who have served as Interim Co-Executive Directors since January 2026, providing continuity for SBCA's members, staff, programs, and strategic initiatives throughout the executive search.

Skodak's appointment marks the next step for SBCA as the association builds on its continued growth and momentum. Working alongside the Board of Directors, staff, volunteer leaders, and members, he will help guide SBCA's ongoing efforts to serve its members, strengthen the industry, and pursue new opportunities that support the future of structural building components.

About SBCA

The Structural Building Components Association (SBCA) is a trade association representing manufacturers of structural building components. "Mr. Wine of Texas" Bob Landon Explains Wine Faults for HelloNation
Image File
Original HTML

GRAPEVINE, Texas, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- What should drinkers look for when a wine smells musty, sharp, or strangely muted? A HelloNation article shows how recognizing wine faults helps people separate true flaws from personal preference. The piece explains how cork taint, oxidation, sulfur issues, volatile acidity, and reduction affect aroma and flavor, helping drinkers in Grapevine, TX feel more confident in evaluating each bottle.

The article begins by noting that wine faults appear more often than many expect. Wine Expert "Mr. Wine of Texas" Bob Landon of Landon Winery and Red Dirt Cellars explains that even well made bottles can suffer damage during storage, transport, or bottling. When a wine opens with musty or unusually sharp notes, the problem may lie with the bottle rather than the drinker's palate. Learning how these wine faults present themselves helps distinguish between normal variation and genuine problems that affect quality. This awareness protects enjoyment and builds confidence.

Cork taint is the most familiar wine fault. It comes from a compound known as TCA, which affects natural cork and leaves a musty aroma similar to wet cardboard or a damp basement. The HelloNation article notes that this scent suppresses fruit, causing the wine to feel flat even if it is not unsafe. Cork taint can be mild or strong, but once noticed, it rarely improves with time in the glass. While not harmful, it removes clarity and energy from the wine and signals a flawed bottle.

Oxidation occurs when a wine receives too much air before opening. Oxygen softens structure, dulls flavor, and shifts color toward brown or amber tones. A once bright white may appear tea colored, while a red may lose its vibrancy. On the palate, oxidized wines feel flat and tired, often showing bruised apple or stale nut notes. The HelloNation article explains that unintended oxidation can occur at the winery, during bottling, or through a faulty seal that slowly admits air. While certain styles use controlled oxidation intentionally, unwanted oxidation removes freshness and balance.

Sulfur related faults create another recognizable set of issues. Sulfur plays a common role in winemaking, but excess sulfur leads to sharp aromas that resemble burnt matches. Sometimes a swirl helps release these compounds, but persistent sulfur scents indicate imbalance. Reduced wines may show notes of rubber, onion, or cooked cabbage when oxygen exposure was too limited during production. These aromas mask fruit and disrupt the wine's natural structure. Strong sulfur or reduction notes prevent the wine from expressing its intended character.

Volatile acidity, or VA, adds a sharp, vinegary edge that overwhelms fruit. While small amounts occur naturally and can add lift, high levels suggest unwanted bacterial activity. The wine may smell like nail polish remover or sour vinegar, and these notes carry into the finish. Heat damaged wines can show similar problems. Bottles exposed to high temperatures may leak slightly or have sticky residue under the capsule. Inside, the wine often tastes stewed, with cooked fruit and little definition.

Muted aroma can also signal potential faults. When a wine that should feel lively shows almost no scent, it may have suffered from poor storage or mild contamination. A taste usually confirms this because the wine feels thin or unbalanced. In these cases, the absence of expected character becomes the clearest warning that something is wrong.

Recognizing wine faults allows drinkers to trust their senses. If a wine smells musty, excessively sharp, or inconsistent with its style, the issue may be the bottle itself. Retailers and restaurants understand that flawed bottles occur and will often replace them. Wine Expert "Mr. Wine of Texas" Bob Landon emphasizes that knowing how to spot these problems prevents disappointment and makes tasting more rewarding. Clean, expressive wines stand out more clearly once drinkers understand what faults look and smell like.

Understanding wine faults becomes another step toward confident tasting. The ability to separate genuine flaws from personal taste builds respect for well made wines and highlights the clarity, balance, and energy found in properly handled bottles. When drinkers recognize flaws early, they gain a clearer sense of what quality wine should deliver from aroma to finish.

Understanding Wine Faults for More Confident Tasting features insights from "Mr. Wine of Texas" Bob Landon of Landon Winery and Red Dirt Cellars, Wine Expert in HelloNation.

"Mr. Wine of Texas" Bob Landon Highlights the Role of Acidity in Wine for HelloNation
Image File
Original HTML

GAINESVILLE, Texas, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Acidity shapes the way a wine tastes, feels, and pairs with food—yet many drinkers don't realize just how essential it is. In a featured HelloNation article, Wine Expert "Mr. Wine of Texas" Bob Landon explains how acidity influences brightness, balance, mouthfeel, and food compatibility. The piece offers clear guidance for Gainesville, TX readers looking to understand why certain wines refresh the palate while others feel round, soft, or subdued.

The article begins by describing acidity as the core element that gives wine its lift and energy. High acid wines create a mouthwatering sensation that helps flavors feel crisp and focused. This trait appears in both red and white wines but shows more prominently in whites, where structure relies heavily on freshness. According to Wine Expert "Mr. Wine of Texas" Bob Landon of Landon Winery, healthy acidity keeps aromas vibrant, maintains clarity, and helps hold the entire wine together from first sip to finish.

High acid wines often taste lively and bright. Their sharpness helps reset the palate during rich meals, making them ideal for dishes with cream, fat, or dense sauces. Aromatic whites, sparkling wines, and certain reds depend on acidity to keep fruit expression clear and balanced. Even slightly sweet wines rely on acidity to prevent heaviness, creating harmony between sugar and structure. The article notes that acidity plays a key role in helping wines remain expressive even when paired with bold or comforting foods.

Low acid wines move in a softer direction. They taste round, smooth, and relaxed, often presenting fuller fruit and warmer textures. While these wines shine with mild or delicate dishes, they may struggle with heavy or spicy foods because they lack the crisp edge needed to counter richness. Without acidity to lift the palate, lower acid wines can feel muted when paired with intense flavors. Understanding this contrast helps drinkers decide which wines will stand up to a dish and which are better suited to gentle meals.

Food pairing becomes much easier once acidity is part of the decision-making process. The article explains that rich sauces, fried foods, creamy pastas, and fatty meats pair naturally with high acid wines because acidity cuts through heaviness. A crisp white can brighten seafood, while a red with firm acidity can support roasted meats without feeling weighty. Even wines with subtle sweetness gain value through acidity, since the two elements work together to create lift and balance. Acidity becomes one of the most reliable guides for creating successful pairings.

The interaction between acidity, sweetness, and tannin also shapes how wine is perceived. High acid wines can feel drier than they are because the acidity sharpens the finish. Acidity can even soften the impression of tannins, adding freshness that balances firmness. Low acid wines can make tannins feel more pronounced, showing how these structural elements rely on one another. This interplay explains why wines from different climates or winemaking styles behave differently on the palate.

Climate strongly affects acidity. Cooler regions produce higher acid wines because grapes ripen slowly. Warmer climates lead to fuller fruit and lower acidity. Wine Expert "Mr. Wine of Texas" Bob Landon notes that harvest timing plays an important role: picking earlier preserves acidity, while later harvests soften edges and build ripeness. These decisions help explain why the same grape can taste bright and energetic in one place and soft and rounded in another.

For drinkers, recognizing acidity provides confidence and clarity. When a meal feels rich, a high acid wine brings brightness. When a dish is delicate, a lower acid wine offers warmth without overpowering flavor. Acidity also guides serving choices—cooler temperatures increase freshness, while warmer temperatures soften the wine's structure.

Understanding acidity reveals why some wines feel lively, others feel smooth, and why certain bottles naturally match specific foods. With this knowledge, Gainesville drinkers can choose wines more intuitively and enjoy meals where balance, flavor, and aroma work together effortlessly.

How Wine Acidity Shapes Flavor and Food Pairing features insights from "Mr. Wine of Texas" Bob Landon of Landon Winery, Wine Expert in HelloNation.

CiCLO® Technology Expands Across Home Textiles from Market Week to Climate Week

ADVANSA and HeiQ collaborations create new opportunities for home and hospitality products as Intrinsic Advanced Materials brings the CiCLO ® technology story to NYC Climate Week

NEW YORK, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Intrinsic Advanced Materials is expanding the commercial reach of CiCLO® technology across home and hospitality textiles this September with ADVANSA and HeiQ, followed by its partnership with Lonely Whale's Fashion the Future activation during NYC Climate Week.

ADVANSA is introducing Suprelle® fiberfill made with CiCLO fibers, extending CiCLO technology into an established premium fiberfill portfolio designed around comfort and performance. At the same time, a collaboration with HeiQ Materials AG is creating opportunities to pair CiCLO fibers with functional technologies that address specific product needs, including cooling, moisture management, freshness and allergen reduction.

Together, the developments give manufacturers, brands and retailers more ways to create products around specific consumer needs while incorporating CiCLO technology designed to help reduce microplastic fiber persistence.

Microplastic fiber pollution caused by the shedding of synthetic textiles is one of the most prevalent forms of microplastic pollution. CiCLO® technology is a patented textile ingredient integrated into polyester and nylon fibers during manufacturing. It creates pathways designed to accelerate biodegradation when microplastic fibers enter end-of-life environments with moisture and microorganisms, reducing their persistence. Third-party laboratories independently test CiCLO fibers using recognized ASTM and ISO methods.

ADVANSA Adds CiCLO® Technology to Suprelle® Fiberfill Portfolio

ADVANSA is introducing Suprelle® fiberfill made with CiCLO® fibers for bedding, home and hospitality applications, bringing CiCLO technology into an established premium fiberfill portfolio built around comfort and performance.

The Suprelle portfolio gives product developers a range of fiberfill options designed around specific product needs, including cooling, down-like comfort, adaptable support, lasting loft and resilience, lightweight support, moisture management and recycled fiber options. This allows brands and retailers to select the comfort and performance attributes appropriate for pillows, comforters and other bedding products while incorporating CiCLO fibers.

"Our customers want fiberfill that delivers the comfort and performance consumers expect while helping support broader environmental priorities," said Jean-Christophe Rouyer, head of global business development at ADVANSA. "Adding CiCLO technology gives them another way to differentiate Suprelle products without changing the core benefits of the fiberfill."

HeiQ Collaboration Expands Functional Possibilities

Intrinsic Advanced Materials is also collaborating with Swiss materials innovator HeiQ to explore how CiCLO fibers can be paired with functional technologies across home, hospitality and apparel applications.

The collaboration gives manufacturers and brands access to a range of performance possibilities, including cooling and thermal comfort, allergen reduction, odor control and freshness, moisture management and faster drying.

Combined, the technologies create opportunities across bed linens, pillows, mattress protectors, mattress toppers, mattress ticking and apparel products. Product developers can select functionality based on application needs while incorporating CiCLO fibers designed to help reduce microplastic fiber persistence.

"Brands are looking for ways to build more functionality into products without adding complexity," said Mike Abbott, executive vice president of advanced materials and general manager, HeiQ USA. "Combining HeiQ technologies with CiCLO fibers gives developers more flexibility to create products around the performance benefits their customers value."

From Market Week to Climate Week

The conversation continues during NYC Climate Week, where Intrinsic Advanced Materials is partnering with Lonely Whale's Fashion the Future activation at PlanetHAUS, Sept. 21 and 22. The activation is open for drop-in visits from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Register here.

CiCLO technology will be featured within The Fashion Stream, an educational experience that follows textiles through upstream, production and downstream stages. Positioned within the production stage, CiCLO technology illustrates how innovation introduced when synthetic fibers are made can address microplastic fiber persistence if those fibers later enter the environment.

The Market Week collaborations demonstrate CiCLO technology moving into commercially relevant products, while Fashion the Future connects that adoption to the larger challenge of microplastic fiber pollution and the role material choices can play in reducing persistence.

"CiCLO sets a new industry paradigm," said Cheryl Smyre, vice president of Parkdale Advanced Materials. "Our collaboration with ADVANSA and HeiQ intersects highly functional chemistries and fiber performance with science to accelerate practical textile solutions. Our work with Lonely Whale's Fashion the Future amplifies awareness and represents a vital step forward in tackling the broader microplastic fiber crisis."

Medeo AI Launches VideoClaw, Bringing Real-Time Trend Discovery Into the AI Video Creation Workflow

New AI video agent connects trend discovery, idea development, and content production in a single workflow

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Medeo, an AI-powered video creation platform, today announced the launch of VideoClaw, its next-generation AI video agent designed to transform how creators, marketers, and businesses discover ideas and produce high-quality video content for social media.

VideoClaw functions as an intelligent creative agent, enabling users to identify trending topics, research content opportunities, develop ideas, and convert them into finished videos through Medeo's AI-powered creation workflow.

With this launch, Medeo now operates as a comprehensive AI video agent that unifies AI video generation, AI image generation, viral trend discovery, social listening, conversational video creation, AI editing, social media management and scheduling, and content publishing — providing creators, marketers, agencies, and businesses with an all-in-one platform for AI video creation and social media content production.

"Creating great content has never been only about making the video," said Charles Liu, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Medeo. "Before you create anything, you need to know what people are watching, what they care about, and which ideas are worth pursuing. VideoClaw brings this entire process closer together, giving creators an AI agent that can help them discover opportunities and turn them into content."

VideoClaw connects trend discovery directly with video creation, allowing users to move seamlessly from research to production without switching between multiple tools.

"We wanted to eliminate the gap between discovering an idea and actually creating it," Liu said. "A trend can disappear quickly, so creators need to move from inspiration to production as fast as possible. VideoClaw helps shorten that journey from discovery to finished content."

The platform supports a wide range of content creation needs, including identifying trending topics for TikTok and Instagram, developing YouTube video concepts, producing promotional videos for products, adapting industry news into social content, creating educational videos, and uncovering new content opportunities for businesses.

"Creators shouldn't have to spend hours scrolling through different platforms just to figure out what to make next," Liu said. "VideoClaw is designed to act like an always-on creative partner that helps them discover trends, develop ideas, and move directly into content creation."

Once an idea is identified, users can continue within Medeo's AI video creation environment to develop scripts, generate visuals, create voiceovers and music, assemble scenes, and produce polished, publish-ready videos.

"You can start with a simple question in VideoClaw like 'What's trending in my niche?' and go all the way to a finished video," Liu concluded. "Our goal is to make creating high-quality content as simple as having a conversation with an AI agent."

VideoClaw is now available at https://www.medeo.app/.

Medeo AI is an AI-powered video creation platform that helps content creators, marketers, and businesses turn ideas into high-quality videos. From generating visuals and scenes to scripting, editing, and refining content, Medeo brings the creative process into one streamlined workflow—making it easier to go from an idea to a finished video.

Fueled by Pocket FM, AI entertainment ecosystem features 550,000+ creators, doubles customer retention, and generates 2.6 million hours of content annually

CULVER CITY, Calif., Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Pocket Entertainment, world's leading AI entertainment platform and the parent company of Pocket FM and Pocket Saga, today announced it has surpassed $500 million in Revenue Run Rate (ARR) growing 70% YOY.

The milestone reflects the continued global growth of Pocket FM, its flagship AI audio drama platform, alongside Pocket Entertainment's increasing use of AI across content creation, production, personalization and distribution.

"AI fundamentally changes the economics of entertainment businesses. Crossing $500 million in ARR, with a healthy bottom line, is a testament to that. Interestingly, Pocket FM has scaled while improving retention alongside it. That doesn't happen without having good taste." Harsha Kumar, Partner at Lightspeed.

Pocket FM remains the primary engine of Pocket Entertainment's growth. Revenue retention on the platform has increased from 44% to 76%, reflecting stronger and more sustained listener engagement. Strategic licensing and adaptation partnerships have further expanded its content offering, including a collaboration with Disney Publishing APAC that brought 36 iconic Marvel audio series episodes to Hindi-language listeners.

Over the past year, Pocket FM expanded into the UK, Germany and France, broadened its catalog across genres including Thriller and Fantasy, and launched user-generated content in the U.S., significantly increasing the volume and diversity of stories available to listeners.

This scale is translating into a growing portfolio of breakout franchises: 96 titles have each generated more than $1 million in revenue, including 13 that have surpassed $10 million.

Building an AI Entertainment Engine

Pocket FM brings together a global ecosystem of more than 550,000 creators, a purpose-built AI stack and real-time audience insights across creation, production, localization and distribution.

Real-time audience insights help identify stories that are resonating, enabling promising IP to scale faster across audiences and markets. AI reduces the time required to launch in new markets from approximately 12 months to two, allowing successful stories and IP to travel across languages and geographies far more quickly.

The result is a fundamentally different model for creating and scaling entertainment:

AI Is Opening Entertainment Creation to a New Generation of Storytellers

"AI is creating an entirely new era of entertainment, one defined by an abundance of high-quality content, the rise of single-person studios capable of creating blockbusters, and experiences hyper-personalized for every individual," said Rohan Nayak, CEO and Co-Founder of Pocket Entertainment. "We are already seeing creators build stories that generate millions of dollars, something that historically required large studios, big teams, significant budgets and years of production. We believe the next global entertainment phenomenon can come from anywhere, reach millions of people across the world, and still feel uniquely made for each of them. At Pocket Entertainment, we are building the platform for this future, fundamentally expanding who can create, what can be created, and how the world experiences entertainment."

Pocket FM listeners now spend an average of 155 minutes a day on the platform, with 51% of weekly active users engaging daily.

"I struggled to get my stories published, but now I can see them come to life with Pocket FM," said Steven Ade, writer and creator. "Pocket FM's AI creation tools help me develop ideas, build characters and storylines, and turn those ideas into stories much faster. I can spend more time being creative, create more consistently and see my stories reach audiences I never could before."

Pocket FM continues to welcome creators and writers from around the world to bring their stories to life and reach global audiences. To listen or start creating, visit pocketfm.com.
