Drive-to demand from four metro areas fills weekend cabins near Beavers Bend
Visitors from Dallas–Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Shreveport book Broken Bow cabins for weekend stays near Beavers Bend State Park and Broken Bow Lake. The short stays also drive the tax case for buyers.
Short average stays can let owners offset income, with a $200,000 to $300,000 effect on a $1 million cabin
Where guests stay less than a week on average and the owner is involved in running the property, the owner can often use the cabin to offset taxes on regular income. The strategy is known as the short term rental tax loophole. For a $1 million cabin, the brokerage says that can mean $200,000 to $300,000 less taxable income in year one.
The Short Term Shop does not give tax advice and tells buyers to confirm eligibility with a CPA.
Brokerage pitches operating expertise over listing access
Avery Carl, founder and CEO of The Short Term Shop, said investors need an agent who helps build a business, "not just find a house." She said Craig has spent nearly five years focused on Broken Bow and knows which cabins perform, not just which look good in listing photos.
The Short Term Shop is brokered by eXp Realty. It says it has helped more than 5,000 investors buy over $4 billion in vacation rental property across 20+ markets. It ranked #11 nationally on the 2026 RealTrends Top 1000, as the only short term rental specialist on the list.
After closing, Broken Bow buyers receive Management Monday self-management training and vetted local vendor lists covering cleaners, maintenance, lenders, insurance and property managers.
