Atomera raises gate-all-around engagements to three customers
The semiconductor materials and technology licensing company increased its engagement count in gate-all-around transistors to three customers. CEO Scott Bibaud said its nano-scale diffusion blocking work has drawn interest from GAA foundries and from designers of next-generation memory. He attributed demand for higher transistor performance to AI.
Atomera also demonstrated what it describes as a simpler, lower-cost approach to enable next-generation DRAM transistors using its Mears Silicon Technology (MST).
IQE joint development agreement targets RF GaN-on-silicon
Atomera signed a Joint Development Agreement with IQE, a compound semiconductor wafer supplier, to bring high-performance, cost-effective RF GaN to market. Bibaud called the deal an "important step" toward commercializing the company's GaN-on-silicon solutions.
Revenue remains minimal and licensing conversion is unproven
Atomera states that it has recognized only minimal engineering services and licensing revenues to date. It lists as a key risk that licensees or JDA customers may not advance to royalty-based manufacturing and distribution licenses. It also cites its ability to raise sufficient capital, as and when needed, as a risk to commercializing MST.
