Long-Term Uranium Price Moves Past Its 2007 Peak While Energy Metals Deals Keep Coming
Image File
Original HTML

VANCOUVER, BC, Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Energy Metal News News Commentary - The long-term uranium price ended September at $96.50 per pound, above the $95 peak reached in 2007, while the spot price closed the month at $89.63, according to figures published by Cameco. The prices that utilities agree to pay years in advance are now running ahead of the spot market, a sign that buyers are planning for tighter supply later in the decade. Producers, developers and lithium suppliers spent the past two weeks reporting results, signing offtake agreements and reorganizing their portfolios. Active Companies from around the markets with current developments this week include: Cameco Corporation (NYSE: CCJ), Uranium Energy Corp. (NYSE American: UEC), enCore Energy Corp. (NASDAQ: EU), Elevra Lithium Limited (NASDAQ: ELVR), National Energy Services Reunited Corp. (NASDAQ: NESR).

Uranium equities have not followed contract prices higher. As of early October, Cameco shares were down 6.9% for the year and 11.6% over the prior month, and the VanEck Uranium and Nuclear ETF (NLR) was down 16.4% year to date, according to Yahoo Finance. Market observers have pointed to utilities' slow pace of new term contracting as one reason the record contract price has not yet translated into share price gains.

Policy support for new reactors continued to build. On September 30, the United States and the Republic of Korea announced a framework anticipating about US$120 billion of Korean investment to help deploy Westinghouse reactor technology in the United States, covering up to six AP1000 units and up to two APR1400 units. The terms are non-binding and subject to final negotiations, definitive agreements, site identification, regulatory approvals and financing.

In lithium, Chinese battery-grade lithium carbonate averaged 122,350 yuan per tonne on October 9, according to Shanghai Metals Market, as buyers returned cautiously after the National Day holiday. Producers outside China continued to secure long-term buyers and new extraction projects.

In other industry developments and happenings in the market this week include:

Cameco Corporation (NYSE: CCJ)

Cameco, which holds a 49% interest in Westinghouse, acknowledged the U.S.-Korea framework on September 30. Westinghouse is expected to receive about US$2 billion in value per APR1400 unit through intellectual property licensing, engineering and procurement services, subcontracting and long-term fuel fabrication supply. The framework also contemplates a potential Korean equity investment in Westinghouse, which Cameco does not expect to change its ownership interest.

"Cameco remains focused on supporting the US government's objective of quadrupling US civil nuclear capacity by 2050," said Tim Gitzel, CEO of Cameco.

Uranium Energy Corp. (NYSE American: UEC)

Uranium Energy reported fiscal 2026 production of 229,294 pounds of uranium for the year ended July 31, and sold 400,000 pounds from inventory at a weighted average realized price of $93.13 per pound for revenue of $37.3 million. The company held $753 million in liquid assets, including $495 million in cash, with no debt, and 1,256,000 pounds of U3O8 in inventory.

"In fiscal 2026, UEC became a multi-mine uranium producer," said Amir Adnani, President and CEO. "We enter fiscal 2027 debt-free with an exceptional balance sheet and the ability to fund our ongoing growth."

enCore Energy Corp. (NASDAQ: EU)

enCore completed the distribution of 35,000,000 common shares of Verdera Energy Corp., which holds its New Mexico in-situ recovery uranium assets, to enCore shareholders as a special dividend on September 30. enCore retains about 15 million Verdera shares and is now focused on its South Texas operations, its South Dakota project and its U.S. project pipeline.

"Completing the Verdera distribution delivers on our commitment to put value directly in the hands of enCore shareholders," said Rich Little, Chief Executive Officer of enCore.

Elevra Lithium Limited (NASDAQ: ELVR)

Elevra signed a binding offtake agreement with LG Energy Solution on October 7 for 240,000 dry metric tonnes of spodumene concentrate over four years from its operating North American Lithium project in Quebec, with supply beginning later this year. Elevra CEO and Managing Director Lucas Dow described LG Energy Solution as 'a committed customer for a meaningful portion of NAL's production'.

National Energy Services Reunited Corp. (NASDAQ: NESR)

NESR signed an agreement with Saudi Aramco on October 8 to deliver the Aramco 2027 Lithium Demonstration Project, described as the region's first direct lithium extraction project. The project is designed to produce 2,000 tonnes per year of battery-grade lithium carbonate using NESR's LiThara platform, with commissioning planned for late 2027. The contract runs up to five years with a value of approximately US$200 million.

Havoc Awarded SBIR Phase III Contract by Army Applications Laboratory for Multi-Domain Mission Collaborative Autonomy

PROVIDENCE, R.I., Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Havoc, the collaborative autonomy software company, today announced it has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase III contract from the Army Applications Laboratory (AAL). The award will fund continued development of Havoc's collaborative-autonomy capabilities for logistics resupply across multiple hardware platforms.

The contract builds on Havoc's work under xTech Overwatch, where the company's technology was selected from a field of more than 40 competing vendors. Since then, Havoc's team has worked to demonstrate that its autonomy software can operate across domains, orchestrating the delivery of critical resupply to Soldiers via both air and ground platforms.

"This award does more than fund the next phase of our work with the Army," said Paul Lwin, CEO of Havoc. "The Phase III designation means any agency in the federal government, not just the Department of War, can now bring Havoc on board through a streamlined, non-competitive path, drawing on the work we've already proven out. We built this technology to solve a Department of War logistics problem, and now the door is open for it to solve similar problems anywhere in government."

Havoc credited the Army Applications Laboratory and the SBIR program with creating a pathway that moves quickly from demonstrated capability to fielded contract.

Under the new contract, Havoc will expand its multi-domain capabilities to orchestrate the delivery of critical resupply to Soldiers via air and ground platforms, in direct response to a need identified by its customer at Overwatch/Pegasus Charge, 1st Cavalry Division.

About Havoc

Havoc is a leader in all-domain collaborative autonomy. Its software-defined hardware approach powers military and commercial-grade autonomous systems across sea, air, and land to sense, decide, and act together in complex and contested environments. Havoc connects assets, enabling them to share information, adapt in real time, and continue operating even when communications are disrupted or denied. Havoc optimizes mission performance and minimizes human risk. Learn more at havocai.com.

Best Accounts Payable Software for Small Business (2026): Melio Named Top Solution for Flexible Vendor Payments by Software Experts

Best Accounts Payable Software for Small Business (2026): Melio Named Top Solution for Flexible Vendor Payments by Software Experts

NEW YORK, Oct. 12, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Software Experts has recognized Melio as the top solution for flexible vendor payments, making it one of the best accounts payable software for small businesses. The review examined how the platform handles invoice capture, payment approvals, vendor transactions, accounting synchronization, and cash flow management.

Best Accounts Payable Software for Small Business

- Melio - an accounts payable software platform designed to help U.S. businesses capture bills, route approvals, pay domestic and international vendors, and synchronize payment records with supported accounting systems.

The recognition reflects Melio's ability to connect the main stages of accounts payable within an approachable platform. Businesses can capture invoices, establish approval controls, schedule payments, and record completed transactions without relying on separate spreadsheets, banking portals, and manual reconciliation.

AP Automation Reduces Manual Payment Work

Accounts payable automation replaces repetitive invoice entry, approval follow-ups, and payment recording with a connected digital workflow. The process gives businesses clearer visibility into due dates, approvers, vendors, and transaction status from the moment an invoice arrives through final payment.

Melio uses optical character recognition to capture information from uploaded invoices. Bills can also be sent to a dedicated inbox. Vendor details, line items, amounts, and due dates are entered automatically for review. Authorized users can check the information and make corrections before approving payment.

This process may reduce errors associated with manual entry, including duplicate payments, incorrect amounts, and missed due dates. Digital records also create a clearer audit trail and provide a more current view of outstanding obligations.

Automation may become more valuable as invoice volume increases. A connected AP system allows an existing finance team to process more bills without adding another manual workflow. Melio reports that customers save more than 15 hours per month on average, based on internal data, company records, and user surveys.

Flexible Payment Options Support Different Vendor Requirements

Vendor payment preferences are rarely consistent. One supplier may accept ACH, another may request a check, and an overseas contractor may require payment in a local currency. Melio brings these options into one platform while separating how a business funds a transaction from how the vendor receives the money.

Available payment methods include ACH bank transfers, credit and debit cards, wire transfers, and paper checks. Faster options include same-day bank transfers, instant transfers, fast checks, overnight checks, and same-day wires. Fees vary according to the funding method and delivery speed.

Card-funded payments may help a business manage the timing of cash leaving a bank account. Card use may also earn rewards, depending on the card program. However, Melio lists a standard 2.9% fee for card-funded domestic payments, subject to the receiving method and other terms. Potential rewards or payment timing benefits should be considered alongside transaction fees and possible card interest.

International payments can be sent in U.S. dollars or supported local currencies. Melio states that payments can be delivered to eligible vendors in more than 80 countries. This provides a centralized option for businesses working with overseas suppliers, contractors, and freelancers.

Bill Capture, Approvals, and Accounting Sync Work Together

Every disconnected step creates another opportunity for an invoice to be delayed, entered twice, or recorded incorrectly. A connected AP workflow reduces those handoffs by keeping invoice capture, approval history, payment status, and accounting records within the same process.

Custom approval workflows can be based on vendor, payment amount, employee role, or other business rules. Multi-level approvals allow higher-value or sensitive transactions to receive added review. Team members can be assigned specific permissions, helping businesses separate viewing, approval, and administrative responsibilities.

Approved bills can be paid individually, scheduled in advance, set as recurring payments, or processed in batches. Melio's mobile application also allows authorized users to review, approve, decline, and send payments away from a desktop computer.

Contractor management tools support W-9 collection and taxpayer information validation. Melio can connect with Tax1099 for 1099 e-filing, although a separate Tax1099 account and related fees may apply.

The platform also includes Agent Mel, an AI assistant designed to answer questions about bills, vendors, and payments. The feature supports routine information requests, while the main workflow keeps payment records connected to the corresponding invoice and approval history.

Pricing and Integrations Depend on the Selected Plan

Subscription price is only one part of the cost of accounts payable software. Payment volume, accounting integrations, user access, delivery speed, and transaction methods can all affect the appropriate plan. Melio offers several tiers designed around those different operational requirements.

Melio's five plans scale with transaction volume and integration needs rather than bundling features evenly across tiers.

Go, the free plan, supports one user and includes five free ACH payments per month, AI bill capture, a dedicated bills inbox, international payments, and the option to pay by card, wire, or check.

Core runs $25 per month and raises the free ACH allowance to 20. It adds QuickBooks Online and Xero synchronization, batch payments, custom approval workflows, W-9 collection, and 1099 automation, making it a fit for small businesses that need accounting sync and more structured AP controls.

Boost, at $55 per month, extends the ACH allowance to 50 and introduces advanced user roles, QuickBooks Desktop synchronization, and premium phone support. Unlimited, at $80 per month, removes ACH and seat limits entirely and adds NetSuite synchronization. Annual billing lowers the monthly cost on paid tiers, and a custom-priced Platinum plan is available for high-volume businesses.

Once a plan's included ACH payments are used, additional ACH transactions cost $0.50 each. Card payments, checks, wires, expedited delivery, and international payments carry separate fees depending on the plan.

Melio is built for U.S. small and midsize businesses that want AP automation without the overhead of an enterprise system. Its bill capture, approval controls, flexible vendor payment options, and tiered accounting integrations were cited in Melio's recognition from Software Experts.
