Veteran journalist and public media leader takes permanent helm of WLRN; Carlton Gillespie to succeed Hudson as host of The Florida Roundup as Hudson prepares to relaunch The Sunshine Economy this fall

MIAMI, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- WLRN Public Media today announced that Tom Hudson has been named Chief Executive Officer, following a nationwide search for the organization's next permanent leader. Hudson, who has been serving as Interim CEO, will now officially take the helm of one of South Florida's leading public media organizations.

The appointment marks a new chapter for WLRN — and a return to familiar territory for Hudson, whose career at the organization has spanned newsroom leadership, award-winning journalism, statewide public affairs programming and some of WLRN's most ambitious coverage of South Florida's economy.

"This is a critical time for public media and Tom has the right mix of journalistic integrity, collaboration and innovation to take WLRN into the future," said South Florida Public Media Group Board of Directors Chair Cheryl Wilke.

As CEO, Hudson will lead WLRN's television, radio, digital, journalism and community engagement operations while helping shape the organization's strategy for reaching and serving audiences across a rapidly changing South Florida.

"WLRN has an extraordinary opportunity to build on the trust we have earned in South Florida while finding new ways to be essential to the communities we serve," said Hudson. "That means Florida-focused journalism, compelling local programming, meaningful community engagement and creating more opportunities for South Floridians to understand and participate in the issues shaping this region. I am incredibly proud of this organization, the community which supports it and excited about what we can build together."

Hudson has spent much of his career at the intersection of journalism, economics and public media. He previously served as WLRN's Vice President of News and later returned to the organization as Senior Economics Editor and Special Correspondent. Earlier in his career, he was managing editor and co-anchor of PBS' Nightly Business Report. At WLRN, he also helped create and host programs that became fixtures for audiences across South Florida and the state.

With his move into the permanent CEO role, Hudson will step down as host of The Florida Roundup, WLRN's weekly statewide public affairs program covering the politics, economy, environment, culture and news shaping Florida.

WLRN Broward County Bureau Reporter Carlton Gillespie will take over as host of The Florida Roundup. Gillespie began his career at WLRN as an intern and has grown into one of the newsroom's recognizable voices, most recently covering Broward County and regularly contributing to The Florida Roundup as a reporter, expert guest and fill-in host. His appointment represents another important step in WLRN's commitment to developing journalistic talent from within the organization. Gillespie's journalism recently was recognized with a national Edward R. Murrow award.

Hudson, however, will not be leaving the microphone entirely.

This fall, he plans to bring back The Sunshine Economy, the signature WLRN program he created and hosted for a decade exploring the people, businesses, industries and economic forces transforming South Florida.

The program, which originally ran from 2013 to 2023, took listeners beyond economic statistics to tell the stories of the people behind them — from entrepreneurs and CEOs to workers, policymakers and community leaders — while examining issues ranging from housing and tourism to technology, climate change, employment and the region's evolving business landscape.

Hudson will once again serve as host when The Sunshine Economy returns to WLRN radio and podcast audiences this fall.

And its return will begin with a live conversation about where South Florida's economy is headed next.

On September 23, Hudson will host and moderate the WLRN Sunshine Economy Summit 2026, a major gathering of business leaders, policymakers, community experts and other key stakeholders examining the opportunities and challenges defining South Florida's economic future. Gillespie and WLRN Palm Beach County Reporter Wilkine Brutus will also serve as panel moderators.

Hudson hopes to use the Summit as a launching point for the next chapter of The Sunshine Economy, turning the conversations taking place on stage into the beginning of a renewed, ongoing dialogue with South Florida audiences.

"The economy touches virtually every part of our lives — where we live, how we work, what we earn, how our communities grow and what kind of South Florida we are building for the future," Hudson said. "There has never been a more interesting or important time to tell those stories. The Sunshine Economy Summit gives us an opportunity to bring people together around those questions, and I'm looking forward to carrying that conversation back to our listeners this fall."

Hudson's appointment comes at a pivotal moment for WLRN as the organization continues to expand its reach, deepen its local journalism and strengthen its connection with audiences and communities throughout South Florida.

His new role brings together the different chapters of his WLRN career — journalist, host, newsroom leader and executive — around a single mission: ensuring WLRN remains the beacon of trusted journalism, storytelling, culture and public service for the region it calls home.

MIND TECHNOLOGY, INC. REPORTS FISCAL 2027 SECOND QUARTER RESULTS

THE WOODLANDS, Texas, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- MIND Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: MIND) ("MIND" or the "Company") today announced financial results for its fiscal 2027 second quarter ended July 31, 2026.

Revenues for the second quarter of fiscal 2027 were approximately $5.6 million compared to $9.7 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2027 and $13.6 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2026.

The Company reported an operating loss of approximately $1.8 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2027 compared to operating income of $14,000 for the first quarter of fiscal 2027 and operating income of $2.7 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2026. Net loss for the second quarter of fiscal 2027 amounted to approximately $1.7 million, or a loss of $0.19 per share, compared to net loss of $411,000, or a loss of $0.05 per share, for the first quarter of fiscal 2027 and net income of $1.9 million, or $0.24 per share, for the second quarter of fiscal 2026. In computing net loss per common share, approximately 9,089,000 shares were outstanding for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, compared to 9,089,000 shares for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, and 7,969,000 shares during the second quarter of fiscal 2026.

Adjusted EBITDA for the second quarter of fiscal 2027 was a loss of approximately $949,000 compared to Adjusted EBITDA of $811,000 for the first quarter of fiscal 2027 and Adjusted EBITDA of $3.1 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2026. Adjusted EBITDA, which is a non-GAAP measure, is defined and reconciled to reported net income (loss) and cash provided by (used in) operating activities in the accompanying financial tables. These are the most directly comparable financial measures calculated and presented in accordance with United States generally accepted accounting principles, or GAAP.

The backlog of Marine Technology Product orders related to our Seamap segment was approximately $4.8 million as of July 31, 2026 compared to $7.6 million at April 30, 2026 and $12.8 million at July 31, 2025.

Rob Capps, MIND's President and Chief Executive Officer, stated, "Our second quarter results continue to reflect ongoing market softness, offset to some extent by the resilience of our after-market business. In recent quarters, we have been candid about how macro uncertainty has limited our near-term visibility. This is impacting order flow and affecting our overall results. However, we continue to benefit from the foundation that our after-market business provides. During the second quarter, this component of our business contributed approximately 87% of total revenue, giving us a durable base when new system orders are difficult to time. This allows us to stay patient and opportunistic rather than reactive.

"We are operating in a challenging environment. We are all frustrated by the lull in order activity and its impact on our results. However, recent conversations with customers have been encouraging and reinforce our conviction in the long-term fundamentals driving activity across our industry. We continue to believe the outlook within the marine exploration and survey market is favorable, supported by the need for energy security and the replenishment of lost production. In several cases, customers have indicated a desire to move forward with sizable projects, although the timing of those projects remains uncertain and largely dependent on a resolution to the conflict in the Middle East. While it is difficult to predict how quickly those discussions will translate into firm orders, demand has not gone away, and our confidence in the longer-term direction of the market is unchanged.

"MIND is debt-free, ended the quarter with $15.8 million in cash, and maintains an after-market business generating substantial recurring revenue. That combination gives us the flexibility to navigate near-term challenges and act quickly and efficiently when opportunities arise. We are focused on putting capital where it earns the greatest return, whether that means adding product lines, pursuing a larger, more transformative transaction to enhance our scale, or repurchasing our own shares in response to market dislocation. We are using this period to strengthen our competitive positioning, and I am confident in the direction we are headed," concluded Capps.

SuperStorage® Joins Local Chambers of Commerce Across California, Reinforcing Its Commitment to the Communities It Serves

All 16 California locations deepen their civic involvement statewide, while also making it easier and more affordable than ever for customers to find and reserve storage nearby

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- SuperStorage, a network of self storage facilities serving 16 communities throughout California, today announced that all of its locations have joined their local Chamber of Commerce, reinforcing the company's long-standing commitment to being an active, invested member of every community it serves.

For SuperStorage, that commitment goes beyond simply offering storage space in a community. Joining local Chambers of Commerce gives the company a direct way to build relationships with neighboring businesses, support local initiatives, and stay connected to the needs of the people it serves every day.

As part of that commitment, SuperStorage facility managers across California are now taking part in local Chamber-sponsored events, from ribbon cuttings and business mixers to community fundraisers. For customers, that means the SuperStorage team isn't just down the street. It's actively involved in the community, in person.

"Joining the Chamber of Commerce solidifies our commitment to providing top-tier, reliable self-storage solutions as a trusted local business," said Kathy Carlson, Area Manager of SuperStorage. "We do not just operate a storage facility in town; we live here, work here, and actively support our neighborhood. Our team is dedicated to earning the trust of local residents and businesses by offering secure, clean, and convenient storage units backed by the honest customer service our community deserves."

That same commitment to making things easier for customers carries over online. SuperStorage's website makes finding and reserving a storage unit simple and fast, with real-time availability, transparent pricing, and touchless rental technology, which lets customers reserve a unit and move in entirely on their own schedule, without ever needing to visit an office. The site runs on an updated platform from Tenant Inc., known as Hummingbird, that powers the experience behind the scenes.

Whether customers meet the SuperStorage team at a local Chamber event or find them online while comparing storage options, the company says the goal is the same: make self storage simple, transparent, and personal in every community it serves.
