WASHINGTON, Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) applaud the introduction of a House of Representatives resolution recognizing Sept. 20 as Pharmacy Workforce Suicide Awareness Day. Established in 2023 by ASHP and APhA during Suicide Prevention Month, the annual observance is dedicated to raising awareness, eliminating stigma, and fostering conversations that can save lives.

Suicide remains a significant public health challenge, with healthcare professionals among populations facing a higher risk. Recent research found that pharmacists remain at an increased risk of death by suicide and that female pharmacy technicians are also at elevated risk. These findings underscore the importance of bringing greater attention to the prevalence of suicide within the pharmacy profession while strengthening support systems that promote the well-being of the pharmacy workforce.

Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians across community, health-system, and other practice settings face chronic understaffing, growing workloads, administrative burdens, frequent interruptions, aggressive performance expectations, and insufficient time for patient care. These pressures affect individual pharmacy professionals, patient safety, and the long-term health and sustainability of the profession. Addressing them is essential to creating workplaces where pharmacy professionals feel supported, can thrive, and are able to provide the safe, high-quality care their patients and communities depend on.

The resolution was introduced by Reps. Paul Tonko (D-NY) and Jen Kiggans (R-VA), and is cosponsored by Reps. Don Bacon (R-NE), Buddy Carter (R-GA), Diana Harshbarger (R-TN), Jonathan Jackson (D-IL), Seth Moulton (D-MA), and Haley Stevens (D-MI).

"Our pharmacists work hard each day to ensure we are delivered the treatment and care we need," Congressman Tonko said. "They deserve to have their needs met, and that must include addressing any mental health challenges they may experience from their profession. I'm proud to be joined by Congresswoman Kiggans to designate September 20th National Pharmacy Workforce Suicide Awareness Day. I'll keep pushing to ensure our healthcare workforce receives the same support, dedication, and compassion that they provide to their patients."

"The well-being of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, residents, and student pharmacists is essential to our profession and to the care we provide patients every day," said Samuel V. Calabrese, MBA, RPh, CPEL, FASHP, executive vice president and CEO of ASHP. "The losses experienced within our profession are heartbreaking reminders that supporting mental health and well-being must remain a priority for all of us. We are encouraged to see members of Congress recognize Pharmacy Workforce Suicide Awareness Day and help bring greater attention to the challenges facing the pharmacy workforce and healthcare professionals more broadly. Together with our partners, ASHP remains committed to fostering a culture of well-being and ensuring members of the pharmacy workforce have access to the resources and support they need."

"I'm deeply grateful for Congress's recognition of Pharmacy Workforce Suicide Awareness Day and for our partners across the profession who continue to advance this vital work. At the heart of this resolution are pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and student pharmacists whose lives and well-being matter deeply to our profession. Awareness is important, but it must lead to action," said Michael Hogue, PharmD, FAPhA, FNAP, FFIP, executive vice president and CEO of APhA. "Pharmacists and other pharmacy professionals deserve to have the resources, support and autonomy to practice at the top of their education, training and abilities. We must tackle the underlying root causes in practice that are leading to serious moral distress leading to loss of hope. We owe it to our colleagues to focus on system solutions."

The resolution has also received support from over 40 other national and state organizations committed to suicide prevention and advancing workforce well-being.

The introduction of the House resolution marks an important milestone in raising awareness of mental health challenges facing the pharmacy workforce. Unfortunately, pharmacy is not the only health profession disproportionately affected by suicide. This effort provides an opportunity to amplify broader conversations about healthcare workforce mental health, well-being, and suicide prevention. We stand in solidarity with physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team who have also been impacted by this crisis. Through collaborative efforts with the Dr. Lorna Breen Foundation and other healthcare partners, we are helping to bring a unified voice to this critical issue.

Recognition reinforces the firm's standing as an employer of choice

MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Attain Partners, a leading management and technology consulting firm, announced today that it has been named one of Consulting Magazine's 2026 Best Firms to Work For. This marks the second consecutive year Attain Partners has earned the national honor. The firm is one of ten organizations recognized in the 2026 Best Midsized Firms to Work For category.

The annual Best Firms to Work For program recognizes consulting firms that demonstrate excellence across six key areas: Culture, career development, work/life balance, client engagement, compensation and benefits, and firm leadership. Results are based on confidential surveys completed by each firm's consultants, reflecting the firsthand experiences and perspectives of the workforce.

"Receiving this recognition for the second consecutive year is especially meaningful because it reflects the voices of our consultants," said Greg Baroni, Founder and CEO of Attain Partners. "For 17 years, we've worked to build a different kind of company: Built to last, next-generation, and values-driven. Built to last has never meant built to stay the same. It means having the courage to evolve without losing our soul, staying grounded in our values, and investing in the exceptional people who make our progress possible."

The recognition builds on a strong year of workplace honors for Attain Partners. In July, the firm was named a 2026 WTOP News Top Workplace, an employee-driven distinction honoring Washington, D.C.-area organizations that foster strong workplace cultures. Attain Partners was also named one of Washingtonian magazine's 2025 Great Places to Work. Together, these honors underscore the firm's standing as a top workplace in consulting and across the Washington, D.C. region.

"Our people remain our greatest differentiator, and our culture is where innovation, excellence, and trust take root," Baroni added. "We are grounded by a clear foundation: Our work is built on trust, driven by impact, and accelerated through innovation. As AI reshapes consulting, this foundation helps us adapt while staying true to our north star on why we create value—to advance missions that matter and make a meaningful difference in people's lives."

New Poll: Young Adults Nearly Split on Socialism, While 62% of Older Americans Reject It as a Capitalism Replacement

Early data from iCitizen's national survey reveals a sharp generational divide, with 18–34-year-olds divided 48% to 52% on free-market capitalism vs. socialism.

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- While a strong majority of Americans continue to favor free-market capitalism over socialism, a deep generational divide is emerging among younger voters, according to early polling data released today by icitizen.com.

Among more than 1,500 respondents surveyed in icitizen's ongoing national economic poll, 62% overall rejected socialism as a replacement for capitalism. However, support for socialism jumps significantly among younger demographics: 48% of adults aged 18–34 supported socialism as an alternative, compared to just 29% of respondents aged 50 and older.

"While national toplines show broad support for free-market principles, the underlying demographic data tells a much more complex story," said Tony Harkin, CEO of icitizen.com. "Younger generations are questioning traditional economic structures at dramatically higher rates than their parents and grandparents. As we approach the upcoming elections, this generational split on core economic philosophy could prove pivotal for policy debates."

Key Findings

- The Youth Divide: Adults aged 18–34 were almost evenly split, with 48% supporting socialism as a replacement for capitalism and 52% opposing.

- Partisan Consensus & Divergence: Opposition to socialism is strongest among Republicans (96%) and Independents (72%). Support remains heavily concentrated among Democrats (73%).

- Gender Gap: Women reported higher support for socialism (39%) than men (27%).

Methodology & Poll Details

The icitizen "Capitalism vs. Socialism" survey went live on September 3, 2026, and remains open for public participation through October 3, 2026. Data in this preliminary release reflects responses gathered through September 15, 2026 (N = 1,564). Note: Data represents a weighted online opt-in sample.

BIOCYTICS AND EREMID GENOMIC SERVICES COLLABORATE ON RESEARCH STUDY FOR NOVEL SINGLE-CELL TRANSCRIPTOMICS IMMUNE-BASED CANCER CELL THERAPY
Image File
Original HTML

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C., Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- BioCytics, Inc., has engaged Eremid® Genomic Services to help sequence an autologous immune cell fraction that is the leading candidate of BioCytics' immune-based cancer cell therapy efforts. Eremid will perform single cell transcriptomic (scRNA-Seq) and TCR sequencing analysis of immune cells provided by BioCytics.

BioCytics is focused on developing an autologous adaptive immune cell therapy that provides a personalized treatment for solid tumors, using the patients' own immune cells that have been activated against their own cancer. Briefly, patient's rare immune precursor cells are isolated from leukapheresis products and are massively expanded and re-invigorated in culture to ensure there are sufficient biologically fit cells to be reinfused into the patient to fight the tumor. BioCytics needs to further characterize both the precursors and expanded cells prior to clinical use. Using data from an scRNA-Seq analysis will confirm the readiness of the immune cells for cancer-killing capability and provide comprehensive view of mode of actions.

Dr. Renaud Warin, BioCytics CSO, says "Transcriptomics studies are central to the understanding of changes that occur in cells, providing insights at the macro level (for gain/loss of functions) and micro level (for mechanisms of actions), as well as cross-referencing and validating results observed in vitro. With the addition of TCR sequencing, we will gain insights into both the mechanisms and dynamics of our cell therapy's expansion and re-invigoration process, while validating the stability of our process across multiple patient's samples. Additionally, these deep molecular insights may help refine prediction models for anti-cancer response based on any patient's immune make up. We are very excited to receive our first batch of results, including an initial analysis template that will be used during clinical deployment, and believe that the proximity and alignment of Eremid will help make this a reality."

Eremid's Chief Business Officer, Julian Abery, commented "Eremid is excited to be working with BioCytics on such an important and ground-breaking study that has the potential to revolutionize cancer treatment. The application of transcriptomics has huge potential to improve patient outcomes, delivering on the promise of personalized medicine."

About BioCytics: BioCytics, Inc., a human applications laboratory (HAL) founded by Dr. John Powderly in 2005, is a privately held health technology company co-located in Huntersville, North Carolina with Carolina BioOncology Institute, a cancer treatment and clinical trial facility. BioCytics is developing Autologous Adaptive Immune Cell Therapy (AAICT) as an immuno-oncology platform for treating solid tumors with the patient's own immune cells. AAICT is a revolutionary point-of-care cell manufacturing process designed to generate nongenetically modified effector cell fractions for all stages of all solid tumors.

About Eremid® Genomic Services: Eremid® Genomic Services is a specialty high-complexity CLIA certified, CAP-accredited genomics contract research organization. The company provides technical expertise in all aspects of genomics, delivering high-quality science and data through customized, collaborative projects for both clinical and research clients working in human health, nutrition, and agbiotech. Eremid has invested in world-class scientific staff, and cutting-edge genomic instrumentation and automation to create a unique offering that meets the increasing demands for higher data quality, reliability, and accuracy in genomics research and testing. Postal Service Issues Winter Wreath Stamp

Deck the halls (or envelopes) across the world with this Global Forever stamp

HUMBLE, Texas, Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Postal Service has released Winter Wreath, a new Global Forever stamp that can be used to mail a 1-ounce letter to any country to which First-Class Mail International service is available. The stamp was issued today in Humble, TX, without a ceremony.

As familiar symbols of wintertime, wreaths have long been associated with the festivities of the season.

"Their shape makes them instantly recognizable around the world, and it's been an interesting design challenge to find objects and images that fit a round frame," explained Greg Breeding, an art director for USPS. "Two of the three previous Global holiday-themed stamps have also featured wreaths with a strong emphasis on the traditional red and green."

For this 2026 stamp, Breeding looked to convey a different mood by showcasing a softer color palette.

The wreath on this stamp was created in 2023 from artificial branches and craft-store materials by photographer Natalia Kostikova, who painted the decorative ornaments herself and sprayed the wreath with baking soda to simulate snow. Using colors that convey a gentle sense of wintertime peace, the wreath is a testament to the possibility of creating beauty from the humblest of materials.

The Winter Wreath Global Forever stamp is available in panes of 10. As Global Forever stamps, the stamp will always be equal in value to the current, single-piece First-Class Mail International 1‑ounce price.

News of the stamp is being shared with the hashtag #WinterWreathStamp.

Natura Receives Historic Molten Salt Reactor Coolant from Department of Energy

Salt delivery is a strategic advantage that accelerates deployment of Natura's advanced Molten Salt Reactors (MSR)

ABILENE, Texas, Sept. 18, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Natura Resources LLC (Natura) has received FLiBE salt from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge National Laboratory via the Idaho National Laboratory for use in its Molten Salt Demonstration Reactor, the MSR-1, being built at Abilene Christian University. The delivery on Friday, Sept. 18, marks a significant milestone, further connecting the nation's historic Molten Salt Reactor Experiment (MSRE) with Natura's effort to bring the technology into commercial deployment.

"Receiving this salt from the DOE is a handoff between generations of American innovation," said Jordan Robison, CEO of Natura Resources. "The MSRE showed what molten salt technology could achieve. We're carrying that legacy forward and turning it into a commercial reality that will deliver reliable energy, clean water, and medical isotopes to the world."

With the material now in hand, Natura has secured one of the most specialized inputs required for Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) operation, reducing supply-chain risk and enabling the successful deployment of the MSR-1. Natura will leverage the MSR-1 to generate data for its commercial reactors.

Natura was selected to receive the salt through a competitive DOE solicitation facilitated by Idaho National Laboratory and issued in August 2025. The FLiBE salt contains 99.99% enriched lithium-7 which minimizes Tritium generation in the salt.

The MSRE operated from 1965 to 1969, logging more than 13,000 hours demonstrating passive safety, high‑temperature performance, and fuel flexibility. The FLiBE salt was used to cool the MSRE, and its success provided a foundation for Natura's MSR design.

Natura's small modular reactors are designed to deliver clean, reliable baseload power using liquid fuel and low-pressure operating conditions. Natura's reactors are inherently safe, highly efficient, and built to serve industrial sites, communities, and to support critical infrastructure.

About Natura Resources

Natura Resources LLC is a leading advanced small modular reactor developer committed to answering increasing domestic and global demands for reliable energy, medical isotopes, and clean water. Natura's reactors are liquid-fueled and molten salt-cooled, which enhances safety and reduces waste. With the first construction permit for a liquid-fueled reactor from the NRC, Natura has established itself as a leading force in the advanced nuclear industry, fueled by a commitment to support America's energy future. The company is privately owned and has secured more than $120 million in private funding and a commitment of $120 million from the State of Texas. For more information, www.naturaresources.com.
