Berlin – November 03, 2026 -- The Scientific Institute of the AOK (WIdO) expects net drug costs in Germany's statutory health insurance (GKV) to rise 2.2% to 2.8% in 2027, a sharp slowdown from the 5.5% growth projected for 2026. The brake comes from the GKV Contribution Rate Stabilisation Act (GKV-BStabG), whose additional manufacturer discount is meant to relieve payers by almost EUR 2.5 billion. WIdO says the structural drivers of spending remain untouched.
