Papeete – November 03, 2026 -- Air Tahiti Nui has signed an agreement with SpaceX to equip its entire fleet with Starlink, offering free in-flight Wi-Fi in every travel class, with onboard availability expected in 2027.
Air Tahiti Nui makes Starlink access free in all cabins
The airline describes the deal as the first phase of a comprehensive transformation. Passengers are to get connectivity from take-off to landing at no charge, whether streaming, answering emails or messaging.
Air Tahiti Nui cites latency of 25-30 ms and uninterrupted global coverage. The coverage is meant to close the dead zones that typically affect long-haul flights over oceans and near the poles.
Carrier follows industry standard already deployed by airlines worldwide
The airline says Starlink is already deployed across airlines around the world, and that the move aligns its offering with industry best practice. Air Tahiti Nui calls the decision a key milestone in its development plan.
CEO Lionel Guérin said passengers expect a "flawless in-flight experience" and that high-speed connectivity is now a fundamental part of a successful trip. He added that the investment is meant to keep the airline associated with excellence, comfort and innovation.
Connectivity upgrade targets a network spanning 90 airports and 131 routes
Air Tahiti Nui operates on four continents, with flights from Tahiti to Paris, Los Angeles, Auckland, Sydney and Tokyo. Codeshare partners include American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, SNCF, Qantas, Air Calin, Japan Airlines and Korean Air. Together with these partners, the airline serves 90 airports via 131 routes. It has also entered 49 interline agreements with other carriers.
The airline has not disclosed the financial terms of the SpaceX agreement or the size of the fleet to be equipped.
