Seso Relaunches With Rootly AI Assistant for Farm Paperwork

San Francisco – November 03, 2026 -- Seso, which describes itself as the largest H-2A agency in the U.S. based on Department of Labor data, has relaunched its agricultural workforce platform with a suite of AI features that automate hiring, onboarding, payroll and H-2A compliance paperwork for farm employers.

Seso also says it operates one of the largest payroll platforms for U.S. agriculture. The new tools run on the same system customers already use for visa operations, onboarding and payroll.

Rootly assistant answers workforce queries and edits records after approval

The centerpiece is Rootly, an AI assistant that answers questions about an employer's workers, contracts and compliance status, drawing on that employer's records and linking to the underlying records or regulations. It can explain H-2A, I-9 and E-Verify requirements, pull reports or exports, and draft workflows from a short description.

Rootly can also update a worker's phone number, assign workers to housing or edit an H-2A contract. Each change appears as an approval card, and nothing is saved until the user approves it. Rootly carries the same permissions as the user and never displays Social Security, passport or other ID numbers in chat.

Three additional AI tools target document sorting, I-9 checks and follow-ups
  • Magic Folder: sorts a batch of uploaded worker documents by type, matches each to the right worker and holds them for review before saving.
  • I-9 Audit Agent: compares each I-9 on file with the worker's profile, passport, I-94 and Social Security card, and lists corrections needed.
  • Workflows: sends follow-up emails, tasks or reminders automatically once an employer sets up recurring steps.
Seso targets small farm offices stretched thin during harvest

Seso says most farm offices are small and paperwork peaks at harvest, when time is shortest. CEO Michael Guirguis said that "most of them can't add another person to payroll," and that the tools let a small team work like a much larger one.

Beth Brown, co-owner of Orchard Dale Fruit Co, runs what she calls a one-person office handling 120 workers a year. She said moving to Seso changed her workload for the whole season.

Seso plans more agriculture-specific AI agents throughout 2027

Seso calls the current features the first of a growing set of agents for agriculture. Throughout 2027, it plans to add agents covering H-2A filings, food safety compliance, everyday HR tasks and the business side of farm operations, shaped by customer requests.

Rootly and the new features are available to all Seso customers in early access, with some features in beta.
