Mallorca's Legendary JOY Palace Club Returns Inside a Hotel

Palma de Mallorca – November 03, 2026 -- The Universal Hotel Neptuno on Playa de Palma offers an adults-only stay with 114 rooms and suites, a bike garage, a pool and a restaurant built inside a former nightclub. The four-star hotel sits directly on the beachfront promenade, next to the Mega Park.

After a comprehensive renovation in 2024, the hotel leans into its location and its past. The suites and junior suites are fitted with disco balls and record players.

A shuttered 2005 nightclub is now a club-restaurant

The JOY Palace was for decades one of the best-known nightlife addresses on Playa de Palma. DJs from across Europe played there, among them resident DJ Sammy. The club closed in 2005.

Universal Beach Hotels has now folded the former club into the Neptuno and reinterpreted it as a club-restaurant. The design picks up elements of the past in a contemporary form. The menu draws on Tokyo, Bangkok and New York, plus flavors from Lebanon and Mexico. Cocktails, DJ sets and live performances are part of the concept. The curated music deliberately differs from the Schlager sound that often dominates Playa de Palma.

A round bed anchors the "Naughty Suite"

Among the room categories is a "Naughty Suite" with a round bed, a large bathtub and a balcony, plus several extras for couples. The hotel pitches it at guests who like a little curiosity and humor in a hotel stay.

Adults-only calm sits behind one of Mallorca's liveliest resort strips

Outside the door is one of Mallorca's liveliest holiday districts. Inside, the hotel offers an adults-only atmosphere, a pool, sea views and short walks to the beach.

Cyclists get a garage, a workshop and sports massages

The Neptuno also caters to active travelers, especially cyclists. It has a bike garage, a mini workshop, a fitness room, an indoor pool, sports massages and meals tailored to active guests. Its location makes it a starting point for tours around the island.

Palma and the airport are quick to reach, and evening entertainment requires no long trips. Yannik Erhart, CEO of Universal Beach Hotels, said the aim was to preserve the history of a place tied to many people's memories of big nights while creating something new: celebrating with style.
