TORONTO – November 03, 2026 -- PowerBank Corporation's 3.26 MW Camillus community solar project in New York has received permission to operate, a key step toward bringing it into service. The project was sold to and built for Solar Advocate Development LLC in a transaction valued at US$7.3 million.
PowerBank builds Camillus on a closed landfill
Camillus is a ground-mount project developed on a closed landfill, converting previously underutilized land into a renewable energy site serving local households. PowerBank (Nasdaq: PBK) developed the project, and Solar Advocate Development LLC is the owner.
President and Chief Operating Officer Andrew van Doorn said engineers and construction partners turned a site "most people would write off" into a source of clean power for local households.
Camillus lifts PowerBank's completed portfolio above 100 MW
The project adds to more than 100 MW of completed PowerBank projects. The company's development pipeline is approaching 1 GW, and it intends to apply its construction and operational-approval experience across a broader portfolio of North American energy projects.
Subscribers receive bill credits without rooftop panels
Camillus is now authorized to begin operating as a community solar project. Participating renters and homeowners can access the financial and environmental benefits of solar without installing rooftop panels. Subscribers receive credits on their electricity bills based on their share of the solar energy the project generates.
Solar Simplified manages customer acquisition, enrollment and subscription services for community solar projects developed by PowerBank's subsidiary, Abundant Solar Power. This arrangement lets the development team concentrate on project execution and portfolio expansion.
PowerBank targets demand from electrification and data centers
PowerBank cites electrification, artificial intelligence and data center expansion as placing unprecedented demand on North American electricity needs. The company points to its completed-project record and pipeline as the foundation for pursuing further growth.
