OCIANA Completes Key Port Call Platform Validation Phase

Montreal – November 03, 2026 -- OCIANA has completed a key phase of Operational Validation Testing (OVT) for its unified port call platform, with four Canadian maritime partners confirming that ship operators and port stakeholders can schedule vessel arrivals on a single real-time system instead of email, phone and spreadsheets.

OVT continues at a pace set by each partner's operational priorities. The project ran in partnership with Canada's Ocean Supercluster through its Core Technology Leadership Program.

Four Canadian partners built core scheduling capabilities with OCIANA

Canada Steamship Lines (CSL), the Montreal Port Authority, the St. Lawrence Pilotage Authority and Clear Seas worked with OCIANA's technology team on the scheduling functions. The stated goal is Just-in-Time (JIT) arrivals, which are intended to cut vessel fuel use and emissions.

OCIANA Ports consolidates berth scheduling into one command center

Booking Requests, Pre Arrival Notifications and Change Requests land in one place. Configurable alerts and live dashboards flag ETA variances and rescheduled vessel activities.

OCIANA Ships is still being shaped with carrier feedback

Carriers submit Initial Requests and Change Requests through the same guided forms, which the company says cuts training time and errors. Automated alerts and real-time status tracking replace manual phone and email follow-up. Next steps are a ship-centric interface for masters and further JIT tool development, ahead of onboard testing.

Audit trail and shared data target coordination overhead

All parties see the same data at the same time. Every submission, confirmation, rejection and change is recorded to support compliance and process improvement. Structured requests and automated notifications are designed to reduce manual calls and emails.

CSL's Pascal Larin, Vice-President of Digital Solutions, said the work advanced JIT capabilities that "reduce unnecessary delays." Clear Seas CEO Paul Blomerus said better arrival coordination can cut waiting and anchoring, easing environmental and community impacts.
