BOSTON – November 03, 2026 -- VIA Science, Inc. has appointed David Vanuch, a former National Guard Bureau contracting chief who oversaw more than $5 billion in annual contracting, as Senior Vice President of Contracts and Government Affairs. Vanuch joins from C3.ai, where he was Head of Contracts and Capture for defense, national security, and commercial AI programs.
Vanuch to run contracts, acquisition strategy and government engagement
Vanuch will lead VIA's contracts and government affairs strategy as the Boston-based software provider expands across defense, law enforcement, and humanitarian organizations. His mandate includes building scalable processes for customers and partners to adopt VIA's technology and guiding engagement with government stakeholders. He will also advise on data rights and intellectual property protections and build out the contracts and government affairs team as the company grows.
VIA co-founder and CEO Colin Gounden said Vanuch's role is to help the company "turn customer interest into executable contracts, agreements, and broader adoption."
Vanuch advised on $5 billion in annual NGB contracting across 50 states
Vanuch brings more than 20 years of acquisition, contracting, and procurement experience. As Senior Contracting Official for the National Guard Bureau, he advised senior leadership on more than $5 billion in annual contracting across the 50 states, three territories, and the District of Columbia. He led a team of more than 200 acquisition professionals responsible for roughly 20,000 contract actions each year.
His earlier roles include posts with the Executive Office of the President, the U.S. Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office, and the FBI, supporting classified and mission-critical programs. He also served nearly 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, rising to Gunnery Sergeant and holding communications and security leadership roles.
Vanuch said his focus is aligning acquisition strategy, government engagement, and customer agreements so customers can adopt VIA's technology efficiently while the company protects the intellectual property behind its growth.
