Expedient Buys phoenixNAP's U.S. Managed VMware Cloud Business

PITTSBURGH – November 03, 2026 -- Expedient has acquired phoenixNAP's U.S. managed VMware cloud business, moving its clients onto a Broadcom Pinnacle tier provider before VMware Cloud Service Provider contracts for non-renewing partners end in March 2027. Terms were not disclosed.

The deal covers phoenixNAP's managed VMware cloud services and its Veeam-based backup and disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS) business. Both serve U.S. clients from phoenixNAP facilities in Phoenix, Arizona, and Ashburn, Virginia.

Broadcom's VCSP consolidation sets the March 2027 deadline

Broadcom is consolidating its VMware Cloud Service Provider (VCSP) program. Contracts for providers that are not renewing, phoenixNAP among them, expire in March 2027. Their clients need a licensed, supported home for VMware workloads before that date.

phoenixNAP clients keep environments, engineers and service levels at close

Clients retain their current environments, service levels, consoles and support engineers. Expedient's Pinnacle tier VCSP status keeps their VMware Cloud Foundation environments fully licensed and supported, with no action required from them.

Over the coming months, Expedient will work with each client on a plan to move its environment onto the Expedient Cloud platform, running on Expedient infrastructure in Expedient data centers, at a pace the client sets. No workloads, networks or IP addresses will move without a plan agreed in advance.

"For phoenixNAP clients, nothing about how their business runs has to change on day one," said Bryan Smith, CEO of Expedient.

phoenixNAP narrows its focus to Bare Metal Cloud and its global network

The transaction is limited to the U.S. managed VMware cloud business. phoenixNAP President Ian McClarty said the sale lets the company concentrate on its Bare Metal Cloud platform and global network, and that Expedient was chosen for its VMware track record and commitment to continuity. phoenixNAP continues to run its dedicated servers and infrastructure services.

Expedient sales grew more than 40% as private cloud demand accelerates

Expedient's sales grew more than 40% over the past 12 months. It cites Broadcom's Private Cloud Outlook 2026, which found 83% of enterprises are considering moving workloads back to private cloud, up from 69% in 2025.

Expedient is one of 14 Broadcom Pinnacle tier VCSPs in the U.S. phoenixNAP clients gain access to Expedient Cloud, which runs on Expedient-owned infrastructure across 14 U.S. data centers, plus 24/7/365 U.S.-based engineering support. Optional add-ons include disaster recovery, managed security and Expedient AI CTRL for governed enterprise AI.

Free tools target the vSphere 8 support cutoff in October 2027

General support for vSphere 8 ends in October 2027. Expedient offers a no-cost VMware Health Check that uses an RVTools export to report support status, VCF 9 readiness and compliance exposure in about a minute. The workbook never leaves the user's machine. Organizations whose VMware provider is not renewing can also take a 15-minute Bridge Fit Check, which confirms eligibility and maps the current environment.
