WDTU Honors Andrea Berg; Dance Schools Hold Charity Marathon

Hamburg – November 03, 2026 -- The German dance school trade association WDTU will present its award to Andrea Berg on Saturday, November 7, while dance schools nationwide run a three-hour Discofox marathon for charity.

WDTU honors Berg for the most self-written Discofox titles

The Wirtschaftsverband Deutscher Tanzschulunternehmen (WDTU) is recognizing Berg for her commitment to the dance school industry and her contribution to Discofox. The ceremony takes place on World Dance Day at the "Hazienda" venue of Hotel Sonnenhof in Kleinaspach, Berg's hometown.

The association cites her three-decade career and her status as the artist with the most self-written Discofox titles. It describes her as the most successful artist in German chart history. According to the jury, her music brings people of all ages onto the dance floor and has kept the style alive in dance schools and clubs across generations.

Berg joins previous recipients Herbert Grönemeyer, DJ BoBo and Andrea Kiewel.

Dance schools nationwide dance three hours nonstop for the NCL Foundation

WDTU and its partners are calling on dance schools across Germany to take part in a simultaneous Discofox marathon. Participants must dance Discofox continuously for three hours, with at least one couple on the floor at all times.

Proceeds and donations from the day go to the NCL-Stiftung, which funds research into neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis, a rare and so far incurable form of childhood dementia. The association "Andrea Berg hilft e.V." will also donate proceeds from the Hazienda event to the cause.

NCL ambassador and "Let's Dance" star Melissa Ortiz-Gomez is also scheduled to attend the event in Kleinaspach.
