XPENG Taps Volvo Cars Korea Veteran Lee Man-sik for Korea Entry

Seoul – November 02, 2026 -- XPENG has appointed Lee Man-sik, a 30-year automotive veteran, as Managing Director of XPENG Motors Korea effective December 1, 2026, confirming its planned entry into the South Korean market. The company said launch timing and local business operations will be announced at a later date.

Lee brings two decades of Volvo Cars Korea experience to the role

Lee began his career in engineering and later moved into sales, marketing, product strategy, brand communications, dealer network development and customer service. He joined Volvo Cars Korea in 2003 and, according to XPENG, played a pivotal role in establishing Volvo as a leading premium import brand in South Korea.

At Volvo Cars Korea he led the brand's mid- to long-term growth strategy, covering brand positioning, product planning, sales and marketing, nationwide dealer expansion and customer experience.

Korea mandate covers sales networks, partnerships and brand building

Lee will lead XPENG's effort to establish its business foundation in South Korea. His remit includes developing sales and service networks, building strategic partnerships and strengthening XPENG's brand presence.

Lee described Korean customers as having exceptionally high expectations of automobiles while remaining open to new technology. He said the goal is "a brand customers can choose with confidence."

XPENG delivered a record 50,237 vehicles in October

The Korea move follows record monthly volumes. XPENG delivered 50,237 vehicles worldwide in October 2026, up 22% from September and 20% from a year earlier.

Overseas deliveries rose 166% year on year to 13,326 units, also a record.

XPENG operates in 83 countries and regions with 1,200+ stores

The company's global footprint includes eight R&D centers, six manufacturing bases and more than 1,200 stores. At the 2026 Paris Motor Show in October, XPENG launched its G9L AI flagship SUV for the European market and showcased its latest intelligent driving technologies.

XPENG said it aims to bring the same technology and customer experience to South Korea.
