SiriusXM's New Fish Mapping App Works Without a Satellite Subscription

New York – November 02, 2026 -- Saltwater anglers can now use SiriusXM's Fish Mapping data on desktop and mobile without buying dedicated hardware or a satellite subscription. The all-new Fish Mapping App, powered by developer OceanBytes, adds weekly and annual standalone subscription tiers.

Existing satellite subscribers get the app at no extra cost

Current SiriusXM Marine Fish Mapping satellite subscribers keep full mobile access and now also get the desktop app at no additional charge. The service is meant to help anglers find fish faster, saving time and fuel.

The standalone tiers are aimed at offshore anglers who want the fish-finding data but not the hardware. Pricing details are on the SiriusXM Fish Mapping page.

Hot Zones update daily, with oceanographer picks twice a week

The app draws on satellite data, oceanographic science, and advanced analytics to highlight areas with the highest probability of fish activity. It offers four main capabilities:

  • Recommendations and Hot Zones: AI-generated insights refresh daily, alongside oceanographer-curated recommendations updated twice per week.
  • Expanded data layers: Graphical views cover sea temperature, plankton, salinity, currents, thermocline, altimetry, and true color.
  • Front Finder: This visualization tool refines specific oceanographic conditions through adjustable filters to locate ideal fishing spots.
  • Planning interface: Redesigned controls make it easier to customize views, analyze conditions, and plan trips.
OceanBytes brings commercial-fisheries data to recreational anglers

OceanBytes has supplied oceanographic data to international commercial fisheries for years. Its CEO, Vipul Prasad, said the team is "thrilled to bring this data to the recreational sportfish market together with SiriusXM."

Geoff Leech, Senior Director of Marine Services at SiriusXM, said angler feedback consistently asked for more powerful tools and more flexible access. He said the standalone options make Fish Mapping available to far more anglers than before.

SiriusXM notes that finding fish is not guaranteed.

The app is available on iOS through the Apple App Store and on Android through Google Play, with desktop access also offered.
