Composites One Rolls Out Redesigned Self-Service Digital Platform

Schaumburg, Ill. – November 02, 2026 -- Composites One, a North American composite materials distributor with more than 600 suppliers, has begun a broader rollout of a redesigned digital platform that puts product availability, pricing, invoicing, account tools and technical documentation into a single account view.

Customer Advisory Board and two years of feedback shaped the build

Composites One built the platform around a standing Customer Advisory Board and rounds of direct customer feedback. It did not design the system internally and roll it out top-down. Christina Chatfield, Head of Digital Growth, said the project outgrew its original scope: "This was more than an update. It was a digital transformation."

The feedback showed that customers in different markets search for materials in very different ways. The team invested in search and filtering that adapts to the attributes that matter most to each customer, rather than sorting by market category. The catalog holds tens of thousands of products.

Self-service covers reorders and invoice checks while Technical Sales stays on call

Customers who already know what they need can reorder or check an invoice without calling. Composites One describes the platform as additive to its Sales and Technical teams. Those teams remain available for material selection, process troubleshooting and new applications.

The distributor supplies manufacturers in Aerospace, Marine, Wind Energy, Transportation, Infrastructure and Construction, among other markets.

Chief Commercial Officer Dave Smith links platform to investment strategy

Smith said the platform reflects a strategy of directing investment toward the areas where composite materials offer customers the most value. In those areas, he said, expertise rather than convenience alone drives results.

Composites One calls the broader launch a starting point. The Customer Advisory Board will keep shaping updates based on how customers use the platform in the field, and Smith said the company does not expect to consider it finished.
