Nuclearn Launches Link to Turn Plant P&IDs into AI-Queryable Models

Phoenix – November 02, 2026 -- Nuclearn has launched Nuclearn Link for P&IDs, a product that converts a nuclear plant's existing piping and instrumentation diagrams into a connected, AI-ready model of the facility. The company says it is available now.

Once a drawing set is loaded, staff can query it in plain language through Nuclearn's AtomAssist, other AI assistants or an in-house agent. Tracing P&IDs by hand has long consumed hundreds of hours of staff time, according to the company. Many digitizing tools recognize components but struggle with the piping and connections between them. Nuclearn Link reads both.

Link accepts legacy drawings without CAD redraw

The product takes PDFs, raster scans, images, MicroStation DGN files and zip archives, including decades-old scans and aperture cards. It identifies valves, pumps, tanks, instruments, and pipe and signal lines on every sheet, then joins sheets at their off-page connectors.

Assistants flag open ends and unconfirmed sheet links

Through Nuclearn's connectors, operators can ask what a valve connects to, follow a line across sheets or trace a system boundary. Results flag open ends and unconfirmed sheet links, so the assistant reports gaps in the drawing data rather than hiding them. Users can correct misread symbols directly. Every correction is logged and carried forward when drawings are re-read.

CEO Brad Fox said plants hold decades of knowledge in drawings that are "static files that AI can't use," and that Link helps customers scope work faster.

Three use cases target clearances, design changes and troubleshooting
  • Clearances: Trace a component's isolation boundary across linked sheets. The output lists valves to close, drains and vents, relief paths, valves not credited as closing, and any open ends or unconfirmed sheet links. It serves as a starting point for the clearance writer to check against the drawings.
  • Design changes: Find every component and line connected to a planned change, across sheets.
  • Valve and pump troubleshooting: See upstream and downstream connections, including across sheet edges.
Nuclearn hosts Link on its own hardware, outside public cloud

Nuclearn hosts the product in its own datacenter on Nuclearn-owned hardware. It uses Nuclearn platform sign-in and roles, supports 10 CFR Part 810 export-control requirements and is backed by the company's ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification.

Link is included for AtomAssist users. The web app, API and MCP server are also offered on their own. Nuclearn, founded in 2021 and based in Phoenix, says its products are used at more than 70 nuclear facilities across North America.
