HOUSTON – November 02, 2026 -- Executive coach and author Dr. Brandi R. Muñoz has released a five-role career support model, the SPECS framework, that gives employers a structure for sponsorship, coaching and advocacy programs.
Published in the book "Who Are Your SPECS? Redefining Career Empowerment for the Future of Work," the framework stands for Subject Matter Expert/Mentor, Peer, Executive Sponsor, Coach and Spokesperson/Advocate. Muñoz calls the combined roles the "Circle of Success."
Framework assigns a distinct function to each of five roles
Mentors share expertise, and peers provide perspective and accountability. Executive sponsors open doors, while coaches help professionals reflect and act. Spokespersons/advocates amplify an individual's work when that person is not in the room.
"These roles are not interchangeable," Muñoz writes.
Book includes a mapping worksheet to identify support gaps
Muñoz draws on more than 15 years in HR, organizational development and executive coaching. The book contains a mapping worksheet and reflection questions that let readers assess their existing support networks and locate opportunities for growth.
Employers get a lens for talent mobility and leadership development
For organizations, the framework targets five areas: leadership development, talent mobility, sponsorship, coaching and cultures of advocacy.
The book is available in softcover (ISBN 9781665791892), hardcover (9781665791915) and electronic (9781665791908) editions through Archway Publishing, Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
