WASHINGTON – November 02, 2026 -- Sky News has expanded its partnership with Arc XP, the media platform built inside The Washington Post, to power a new app and website targeted for launch by the end of 2027.
Video views on the Sky News app more than doubled year on year
The deal is part of Sky News 2030, a five-year transformation into a premium, video-first news organisation. The release, citing Ipsos, describes Sky News as the UK's biggest commercial news publisher app. Video views on the app have more than doubled year on year. The new platforms will put video at the center of the offering, feature more original reporting and add personalised ways to follow stories.
Sky News targets premium and paid-for products
The investment is meant to deepen engagement with existing users and strengthen direct audience relationships. It is also meant to create new commercial opportunities, including premium and paid-for products.
Sky News Executive Chairman David Rhodes called the project "a step change" that will deliver more personalisation and better commercial outcomes by the end of next year.
Arc XP to supply AWS-backed mobile, video and personalisation tools
Working with Sky's product and technology teams, Arc XP will provide its media platform, backed by AWS. It covers tools for mobile apps, video and personalisation, and is meant to give Sky News more flexibility to develop new products.
Arc XP President Matt Monahan said more people now find news through AI summaries and search results rather than at the newsroom that did the reporting. He said the new app and website are designed to bring audiences directly to Sky's journalism.
Ask Sky News AI search anchors the expanded agreement
The agreement builds on existing work on Ask Sky News, an AI-powered conversational search experience that answers audience questions from Sky's own reporting.
Sky News has generated nearly 4.5 billion social video views in 2026 to date.
