Cineverse Nominates Ex-Apple Network Chief Ganguly to Board

LOS ANGELES – November 02, 2026 -- Cineverse Corp. (Nasdaq: CNVS) has nominated Dr. Samrat Ganguly, former head of Apple's global network infrastructure organization, for election as an independent director at its annual stockholder meeting on December 8, 2026.

The board will stay at four seats. Director Mary Ann Halford will not stand for re-election.

Ganguly ran the network and security backbone behind Apple's services

Ganguly spent more than a decade at Apple. He was most recently responsible for the architecture, engineering and operations of the network and security infrastructure behind iCloud, Apple TV and the App Store. That infrastructure serves more than two billion active devices worldwide.

He has since left Apple to found a company that is still in stealth. It is building global infrastructure to deploy and scale AI inference services.

Matchpoint co-developer returns as a board candidate

Ganguly founded FoundationTV in 2013 and served as its CEO. The company co-developed Matchpoint, a streaming platform engineered to handle up to 100 billion events per day. Cineverse, then known as Cinedigm, acquired FoundationTV in 2021. Its engineering team became the core of Cineverse India, the company's engineering and R&D hub.

Matchpoint now runs Cineverse's entire studio operation. It has distributed more than 60,000 titles and powers more than 120 apps and 20 FAST channels. Cineverse also lists major studio, broadcaster and connected-TV enterprise customers.

McGurk ties the nomination to Cineverse's platform strategy

Chairman and CEO Chris McGurk described the move as a deliberate step toward making Cineverse the technology platform on which studios, streamers and device makers prepare, distribute and monetize content. He said Ganguly will hold the company's technology roadmap, automation agenda and AI investments to "the highest standard in the world."

Ganguly said media businesses built on automated, software-defined infrastructure can operate at a fraction of traditional cost. He added that companies owning the infrastructure layer will capture the value.

Ganguly's résumé spans software-defined networking and academic research

Earlier in his career, Ganguly was Chief Architect at NEC Corporation of America, where he worked on the early commercialization of software-defined networking. He previously led a team of researchers at NEC Laboratories America in Princeton.

He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rutgers University, an M.E. from the Indian Institute of Science and a B.S. from the Indian Institute of Technology. His work includes more than 100 peer-reviewed publications with over 4,000 citations, and he is a named inventor on dozens of U.S. patents.
