iQIYI Opens Shanghai AI Film Studio, Starts Shooting First Feature

Beijing – November 01, 2026 -- iQIYI began filming the internet feature film "Cop in Trouble" on October 28 at its new AI Film Studio, which links live-action shooting directly to nearly 30 AI models for post-production.

Shanghai studio syncs on-set footage to NadouPro in real time

The approximately 110-square-meter facility sits inside the iQIYI Creative Center Shanghai. It offers multi-camera shooting, synchronized high-resolution video and audio recording, digital continuity logging and real-time footage review.

Footage from the set syncs automatically to NadouPro, iQIYI's AI-powered film and TV production platform. Filmmakers get immediate access to nearly 30 AI models, including Seedance 2.5 and Kling 4.0, plus hundreds of production-focused AI agents and skills that generate new visual elements from the live-action material.

Post-shoot changes to sets, lighting and costumes keep actors' performances intact

The studio is built to cut production timeline constraints and raise efficiency. Directors can develop and refine visual environments after filming without altering the recorded performances.

"An actor's performance is the core of any film or series," said Liang Zhu, iQIYI Vice President and Head of Intelligent Production. He said directors can adjust sets, lighting, costumes, makeup and props more flexibly after the shoot.

"Cop in Trouble" serves as the studio's first production test

The film follows Jian Zhang, a low-ranking constable whose fame and riches begin to crack as his web of lies to take down a notorious outlaw unravels. On set, crews capture interactions ranging from intimate conversations to action sequences that require precise coordination between performers and camera movement.

Those recordings become key references for AI generation in NadouPro, covering character appearance, performance, composition, lighting and spatial relationships.

Hengdian virtual studio delivered efficiency gains above 30%

The AI Film Studio extends iQIYI's production capabilities beyond traditional on-location and green-screen work into virtual production and AI-integrated filmmaking. It builds on the company's Hengdian virtual studio, which delivered production efficiency gains of over 30%.

iQIYI says the facility is aimed at emerging directors and resource-constrained teams across all genres.
