Columbus family says they found a needle in son’s Halloween candy

COLUMBUS, Wis. (WMTV) - A family who said they went trick-or-treating in Columbus Saturday night say they found a needle in a Snickers bar after they got home.

The Lanzhammer family said they tested all of their son’s treats with a magnet when they returned home. They say one of the treats stuck to the magnet.

The family said they opened the candy to inspect it and found a needle inside the Snickers bar. They said they reported it to police.

WMTV reached out to the Columbus Police Department, which confirmed that they have received the report. They said they have not received any other reports of items found inside candy.

Police said people should always inspect any candy that comes from people they do not know and dispose of it properly if it has been tampered with.
