SUZHOU – October 31, 2026 -- GAC won eight awards, including four first prizes, at the 2026 China-SAE Science and Technology Award ceremony in Suzhou, Jiangsu, on October 28. Two of the first prizes went to GAC-led projects and two to projects in which GAC participated. A fifth GAC-led project took second prize.
GAC's chip project works with 105 partners on domestic silicon
The GAC-led chip project built a full-chain path from vehicle definition to scale application. It has applied nearly 400 chip models and more than 1,000 domestic chips with 105 partners. The HYPTEC GT Special Edition, described as China's first intelligent connected vehicle with 100% domestically designed chips, has been launched.
GAC mass-produces amorphous alloy motors with 99.03% peak efficiency
GAC says it is the only company in the world to mass-produce amorphous alloy automotive motors. The amorphous ribbon is 0.025 mm thick. The motor reaches 17.29 kW/kg power density at 1000V, nearly three times the industry mainstream, and a maximum speed of 30,000 rpm. System CLTC efficiency stands at 94.184%.
GAC says energy consumption falls 4% and range rises 30-50 km on the same battery capacity. The motor is used in HYPTEC, AION and AISTALAND models and has been promoted to other automakers. The related precision manufacturing technology won the Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva.
Tsinghua-backed safety project covers 20 models and 1.446 million units
The second-prize project, led by GAC with Tsinghua University, developed China's first ASIL-D fully domestic safety controller. It also includes real-time risk quantification, active-suspension side-impact mitigation, a rear-window airbag and an "automaker-traffic police-hospital" integrated rescue model. It has been applied to 20 models with cumulative sales of 1.446 million units.
AI body design cuts concept generation to 5 hours
In a GAC-participated body-in-white project, an AI-based design system generates concept schemes within 5 hours. Stiffness prediction accuracy exceeds 95%, and design efficiency is more than 30% higher. The system has been applied to the second-generation GAC GS8, GAC ES9 and GAC All-new S7.
GAC also participated in an L2-L4 safety governance project. It established a full-lifecycle system covering pre-admission, in-process supervision and post-event traceability.
