California American Water Commits $1.68M to Isleton 3B Well Overhaul

ISLETON – October 30, 2026 -- California American Water is investing approximately $1.68 million to rehabilitate the Isleton 3B Well, a project aimed at preserving the reliability of the local water system and extending the life of existing infrastructure serving Isleton customers.

Rehabilitation targets failure risk and emergency repair costs

By refurbishing the existing well rather than replacing it, the utility, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), aims to extend its useful life. The approach also reduces the potential for unexpected equipment failures and costly emergency repairs, according to the company.

Charlie Wolfe, Principal Project Delivery Engineer at California American Water, said investing in existing infrastructure is central to providing reliable service.

Six-step work scope runs through end of 2026

The scope covers inspecting the well, removing pumping equipment, and cleaning, treating and disinfecting the well. Crews will then install test pumping equipment and conduct performance testing before the well returns to service. Construction is expected to continue through the end of 2026.

Work will take place at the well site along 5th Street. Nearby residents may notice increased activity, occasional noise and temporary traffic impacts.

Project forms part of Northern Division maintenance program

The Isleton 3B Well work falls under California American Water's Northern Division Well Rehabilitation Program. The program provides periodic maintenance at selected wells to restore performance, maintain system capacity and extend the life of existing water infrastructure.
