University of Phoenix Presents AI Literacy Framework Rollout at AAC&U

PHOENIX – October 30, 2026 -- University of Phoenix, Boise State University, Johns Hopkins University and the Medical University of South Carolina will present a joint session on implementing the Digital Education Council AI Literacy Framework at the AAC&U Conference on AI and Higher Education, held Oct. 28-30 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Four institutions report on one framework applied across different missions

The session, titled "One Framework, Four Missions: Implementing the Digital Education Council's AI Literacy Framework Across Diverse Institutions," draws on the experience of four institutions that took part in AAC&U's 2025-2026 Institute on AI, Pedagogy, and the Curriculum. University of Phoenix will be represented by Susan Hadley, Ph.D., Associate Dean of the College of General Studies.

The AAC&U conference convenes higher education leaders to examine evidence-based approaches to responsible AI adoption and institutional strategy.

University of Phoenix links Institute work to institution-wide AI skills integration

Hadley will describe how work completed in the AAC&U Institute fed into broader adoption of the framework at the University. She will also cover how the University uses the framework to guide AI skills integration across programs and courses, paired with aligned approaches to assessing student learning.

According to Hadley, the University's effort began with foundational AI literacy skills in the Phoenix Success Series and has since shaped a wider institutional approach. She said the session will cover the University's approach, lessons learned and next steps.

Phoenix targets working adult learners with embedded AI skills

The University's academic AI framework embeds AI skills into academic programs, expands AI-enabled learning support resources and promotes responsible and ethical AI use. The approach is designed to help working adult learners build practical AI skills aligned with evolving workforce needs.
