Spacelift Launches Flows to Automate Day 2 Infrastructure Operations

REDWOOD CITY – October 29, 2026 -- Spacelift has launched Spacelift Flows, extending its infrastructure orchestration platform from deployment into day 2 operations, the phase in which platform teams run, maintain and troubleshoot infrastructure already in production. The product is free for existing customers through the end of the year, with commercial pricing and packaging due in Q1 2027.

Spacelift renames its core product Spacelift Deploy and adds Flows for operations

The IaC and GitOps deployment component is now called Spacelift Deploy, while Flows covers operations. Spacelift Intelligence, an AI layer that works through natural language, spans both components. The company says the platform now manages the full infrastructure lifecycle on a single control plane with one governance layer.

Existing customers see no change in functionality, contracts or access, and can use Flows immediately.

Policy, access control and audit history now cover operational workflows

Policy, role-based access control and audit history apply to operational workflows in the same way as to provisioning runs. Deployment events can trigger operational workflows and vice versa. Teams get a single view of every running infrastructure automation, with a step-by-step execution trail, real-time status and the option to replay a workflow in whole or in part.

Spacelift says AI-assisted development is raising the volume and speed of infrastructure reaching production. Day 2 work, by contrast, has stayed manual and ad hoc, with no shared view of running automations and no execution record when something fails.

Agents authenticate as their own users and run through MCP servers with approval gates

Teams can expose internal databases, monitoring systems and operational APIs as MCP servers that AI agents call, with private network access and approval gates. Each agent authenticates as itself and appears in the audit trail as its own user, rather than borrowing an engineer's credentials or a shared key. Workflows execute deterministically, running the same way every time. Flows can also act as an MCP gateway and works with whichever AI model a team selects.

Discovery Education has deployed Flows. Parker Cameron, senior manager of cloud engineering, said the team had something working "in a few hours." He contrasted that with a usual pattern of four weeks and continued struggles with authentication. Partner success manager Toby Norman said he built several tools and a proof of concept for developer debugging in a few hours, having never built an MCP server for his infrastructure before.

Flows ships with integrations for eight tools and more than 40 templates

Out-of-the-box integrations cover AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Datadog, PagerDuty, ServiceNow, Jira and Slack. More than 40 pre-built templates handle tasks including incident enrichment, drift alerts, environment vending and certificate expiry monitoring. Teams can build custom flows for internal services and APIs.

Automations built on the visual canvas or with the AI assistant can also be defined as code through a Terraform provider published to the Terraform and OpenTofu registries.

Spacelift CEO Pawel Hytry said platform teams are absorbing more infrastructure requests as AI speeds up developer code output. A webinar with a demo is scheduled for November 5.
