SNC Taps Skyryse's SkyOS to Automate Existing Defense Fleets

Centennial, Colorado – October 27, 2026 -- SNC has selected Skyryse as a collaborator to bring flight automation and autonomous capabilities to existing aircraft fleets, starting with defense platforms, using Skyryse's SkyOS flight-control hardware and software.

SkyOS flew on a UH-60 Black Hawk within 91 days of integration

Skyryse says SkyOS was integrated into a UH-60 Black Hawk and flown in 91 days. The companies cite this as evidence that flight software can be added to existing airframes quickly. They plan to integrate SkyOS across fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft used across the military services. Other platform categories are under consideration. The stated goal is piloted and optionally piloted operations on existing fleets.

SNC brings 60-plus years of modification experience and FAA certification authority

SNC contributes more than 60 years of experience integrating, modifying and sustaining military and commercial aircraft. Its subsidiary 3S Engineering and Certification holds an FAA Organization Designation Authorization (ODA), which gives SNC authority to certify SkyOS integration across those platforms.

The collaboration will explore aircraft integration and certification, retrofit installation and modification, and wider SkyOS deployment across defense and other platforms.

Both executives frame retrofits as an alternative to new-aircraft purchases

"Modernizing a fleet doesn't always mean buying new aircraft," said Jon Piatt, executive vice president at SNC. He said automation can reduce operator workload and support more consistent decision-making for defense, government and commercial customers.

Skyryse founder and CEO Mark Groden said the Black Hawk work shows SkyOS can upgrade in-service aircraft in months rather than years. He added that SNC's certification and integration expertise provides the route to scale.

The announcement did not disclose contract values, program timelines or specific aircraft types beyond the Black Hawk. Skyryse lists Air Methods, CAL FIRE, Mitsubishi Corporation and the U.S. Army among its partners.
