Signia Hilton Savannah Tops Out 444-Room Convention Hotel

SAVANNAH – October 27, 2026 -- The 444-room Signia Hilton Savannah has reached its highest structural beam, bringing the nearly 200-foot tower closer to a 2028 opening as the headquarters hotel for the Savannah Convention Center.

The Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority (SGCCA), Hilton, Brasfield & Gorrie and Songy Highroads marked the topping out with elected officials and community partners. The hotel will connect directly to the convention center, which offers 660,000 square feet of meeting, exhibit and event space along the Savannah River.

Construction crews have poured 27,000 cubic yards of concrete and driven 1,135 auger piles

More than 1,200 individual workers have contributed to the project so far, with more than 300 on site daily. Crews have also installed 2,700 tons of reinforcing steel and 194 tons of post-tension cable. The auger piles total more than 81,000 linear feet of deep foundations supporting the tower.

The hotel adds 34,000 square feet of meeting space to the convention campus

The property will include a 13,000-square-foot ballroom, five food and beverage venues, Club Signia and an outdoor pool. Savannah-based Grey Spaces, led by Chef Mashama Bailey and restaurateur Johno Morisano, is developing the culinary program.

Kelvin Moore, general manager and senior vice president of the Savannah Convention Center, said the expanded center gave Savannah the capacity to compete at a new level. He described the hotel as the next step toward an integrated convention campus that can win business the destination previously could not consider.

Brasfield & Gorrie targets larger, longer-stay conventions for the riverfront

John Fulford, vice president and division manager at Brasfield & Gorrie, said the hotel is critical for the center to compete for "larger, longer-stay conventions." He added that the contractor is expanding in Savannah.

SGCCA owns the property while Hilton manages it

The SGCCA owns the hotel, which was developed in partnership with the Georgia World Congress Center Authority. Hilton will manage it, and Songy Highroads and Matthews Southwest Hospitality are co-developers. Danny Hughes, president of Hilton Americas, said the milestone reflects Hilton's confidence in Savannah as a destination for all types of travelers.

Savannah becomes the second Signia Hilton in Georgia

The brand already operates in Atlanta, Hollywood, Fla., San Antonio, Texas, and Amman, Jordan. Signia Hilton Indianapolis is forthcoming.
