Delta Beer Lab to close after nearly 8 years
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Madison-area brewery Delta Beer Lab announced Tuesday it will be closing its doors after nearly eight years.
The brewery, located at 167 E. Badger Road, will end regular operations on Sunday, Oct. 25. It will offer limited hours during the following week to sell the rest of its inventory and let customers enjoy a true last call.
Tim “Pio” Piotrowski, owner of Delta Beer Lab, said the long-term economic impacts following the COVID-19 pandemic proved to be to great a challenge to overcome.
“After the pandemic’s initial effects began to subside, our business was hit by rising ingredient, supply, and freight costs,” Piotrowski said. “Persistently rising inflation year after year has led to reduced consumer spending nationally and locally, while operational costs, including labor, have continued to rise. We fought as hard as we could, but we have ultimately run out of resources.”
Delta Beer Lab has been known as a space for community impact and inclusivity, often hosting events that support the LGBTQ+ community and area nonprofits.
Delta Beer Lab said its final beer, Supernova West-Coast IPA, will serve as a final tribute to the brewery’s journey.
The brewery will host several events in its final week of operations, including drag queen bingo, a trivia night and makers market.
Delta Beer Lab will post more on its social media later this week for details on limited hours.
