Disneyland's First Coco Ride Brings Miguel's Journey to Life

California – October 22, 2026 -- Disney California Adventure is getting the first Coco ride at any Disney park, and it will have no height requirement, so the whole family can board together.

Walt Disney Imagineers shared new details at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event presented by Visa, on the Horizons: A Carousel of Progress stage. Ali Rubinstein, Senior Vice President of Global Creative & Development Studios, and Emily O'Brien, Portfolio Executive Creative Producer for Disneyland Resort and Tokyo Disney Resort, took the stage after Los Lobos performed La Llorona. Neil Patrick Harris hosted the showcase. The attraction was first announced at D23 2024.

The story picks up one year after the original film

The queue starts in Pixar Pier, next to Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. Guests enter a "casa museo" dedicated to the music of Héctor Rivera, Miguel's great-great grandfather.

From there, riders join Miguel on a boat trip through his memories of the Land of the Dead. Fans can expect to see Miguel, Dante, Héctor and other favorite characters. Imagineers say the ride leans heavily into the music and emotion of the Pixar film.

Imagineers are working with Pixar on a nod to Coco 2

Disney and Pixar's Coco 2 is well underway. Imagineers are working closely with Pixar so the family-friendly attraction nods to both the original film and the upcoming one.

The ride is meant to celebrate the characters, the music, Mexican culture and the love of a family passed down through generations.

Construction is already in progress near Paradise Gardens Park

Work is underway in the area near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier. Walt Disney Imagineering is drawing inspiration from classic attractions such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion. The skeletal cast of characters will come to life through the latest Audio-Animatronics technology.

No opening date was announced. Disney says more updates will appear on the Disney Parks Blog.
